[Bug 1871959] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in _iris_batch_flush from iris_fence_flush()

2021-02-11 Thread paquin pierre
Hello,

Well I tried... and have some troubles :). After reboot, displaylink didn't
work anymore. I tried to uninstall but when I try to reinstall, here what I
get :
ERROR (dkms apport): binary package for evdi: 1.7.0 not found
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.8.0-43-generic (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/evdi/1.7.0/build/make.log for more information.
ERROR: Failed to install evdi/5.3.1.34 to the kernel tree.

I know this is ubuntu, not displaylink, but if you have any idea that
would be great.

Notice : If i run install twice, I got only 1 error : "Error! DKMS tree
already contains: evdi-1.7.0" and installation continue. But don't
work... Uninstall / reinstall will do same thing (1st fatal error that
stop installer, then this one)

[Bug 1912595] Re: unminimize shoud run apt with -–no-install-recommends

2021-02-11 Thread Morty
I strongly disagree with your conclusion. As already discussed in #2,
the policy is not overridden. --no-install-recommmends would only be
passed when reinstalling(!) packages, not to the apt-get upgrade step.
All recommended packages have already been installed at this point -
unless they have explicitly not been installed.

The workaround however works for me.

[Bug 1915382] [NEW] external Monitor shows »No Signal« after dpms sleep

2021-02-11 Thread karlsebal
Public bug reported:

My external Monitor connected via HDMI is behaving strange and my
educated guess is it is related to dpms.

Plugging in the monitor it will show »No Signal« although recognized by
`xrandr`. I would have to boot my machine with the monitor plugged in to
make it work. When going to standby (screen blanks after lock, then
screen goes to standby) the monitor is switched on (LED is going white)
and shortly after it will show the no-signal-message. `xrandr` claims
the monitor to be existent. Unplugging and replugging does not help.
Same happens when logging out to greeter. Strange in so far as when
booting up, the greeter is okay with the monitor.

When issuing `xset -dpms` the behaviour changes and the monitor will
enter sleep and come back as expected when locking the session.

Console (tty1-6) is available though at all times.

(I generated the bug report with dpms set off accidentally)

[Bug 1915275] Re: mysql-8.0 regressed on riscv64 due to new glibc

2021-02-11 Thread Gianfranco Costamagna
The only difference between bileto and the archive build is that bileto
has been run against only release pocket, nothing else.

So tests seems to be run on both release/proposed/bileto.
Ok about disabling the test run, but in any case the bug looks real and
breaking the whole mysql on riscv64.

[Bug 362359] Re: Focus gets stuck to a window - impossible to select other windows

2021-02-11 Thread Patric Trollope
I thought I was losing my mind!

I have also been experiencing this issue, and today finally managed to
narrow it down to a specific cause. My issue starts when I am making use
of the CTRL+SHIFT+PRTSCR shortcut to take a screenshot of an area you
select.

I use this function frequently, and it sometimes results in my mouse
functionality being isolated to the window that currently has focus. If
I move my mouse cursor over another window I can see that the window
registers the mouse position (for example hover animations are
triggered) and scrolling works, but left and right click do not register
in that window until I use ALT+TAB to change focus to that window.

If I hover my mouse pointer over the top bar, the pointer icon changes
to a + which is the same icon that it changes to when you take the
screenshot, so it seems almost like the screenshot overlay mechanism
doesn't get reset/cleared correctly.

I hope this helps!

[Bug 1915377] Re: Nautilus crashes on rename

2021-02-11 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1915092] Re: lib-gtk-3 / lib-gtk-3-dev NOT compatible

2021-02-11 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Closing the bug then, thanks. There was a matching dev binary but you
hit a special case where the stable update failed verification and was
removed and you were left on a version that doesn't exists anymore,
that's one of the risk of opt-in for proposed updates.

[Bug 1873887] Re: virt-clone fails on a suspended (paused) guest, whereas documentation claims the clone should be successful.

2021-02-11 Thread Frank Heimes
The virt-manager package on hirsute got recently updated to v3.2:
virt-manager | 1:3.2.0-3| hirsute/universe
Since this seems to have been fixed with 3.0 this should be now Fix Released
(for H).
In focal as well as in groovy there is still a v2.2.1 where the behavior was
always that way (see comments) and on top the 2.2.1 is pretty behind 3.2 and
this ticket was opened for 21.04 only 'targetmilestone-inin2104'. Hence so far
the focus was on 21.04/hirsute only.

[Bug 402892] Re: Mouse cursor gets stuck in "drag and drop" mode

2021-02-11 Thread Guillaume Carles
Happens very frequently for me also on a vanilla 18.04 (Thinkpad), but
only on a small subset of applications. What's strange is that the bug
appeared a few days ago after years without problem.

I do not use any external peripheral (nothing connected to the laptop
except the power supply).

An easy solution to solve this without rebooting the whole system is to
disable then enable the TouchScreen (disabling alone is not sufficient).

Following Paul Müller's steps:
- find your TouchScreen input ID with ``xinput`` (in my case ``Melfas LGDisplay
Incell Touch id=9``
- ``xinput --disable 9``
- ``xinput --enable 9``

If you want to automate this in a script/alias, you can easily retrieve the ID
once you know the name of the TouchScreen:
- ``xinput list --id-only 'Melfas LGDisplay Incell Touch'``

[Bug 1915389] [NEW] Release upgrade fails to apply

2021-02-11 Thread Aloïké
Public bug reported:

I received a notification that a new dist release is available. During
the upgrade process, it fails by telling me that may be caused by ppa
sources.

## What I expected to happen

I expected the upgrade to happen, or to tell me which package fails to
upgrade/causes dependencies troubles.

## What happened instead

The upgrade failed, telling me that may be due to some PPAs and to use
ppa-purge.

But my system "has lived", so I'm not sure on how to find the whole list
of installed PPAs (some have been deleted from apt.sources.d in the
meantime).

[Bug 1915092] Re: lib-gtk-3 / lib-gtk-3-dev NOT compatible

2021-02-11 Thread Robert Dinse
Since you can't compile against the library without the header file, it would
make sense to me to remove the matching library but at any rate, I understand
the issue and thank you for your
assistance. I found a different calendar that does what I need so I'm good.

[Bug 1915391] [NEW] Nginx crash when using init_worker_by_lua_block

2021-02-11 Thread Olivier
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Problem is related to this bug : https://github.com/openresty/lua-nginx-
module/issues/1348

The package libnginx-mod-http-lua provided with Ubuntu Groovy use the
0.10.13 version of https://github.com/openresty/lua-nginx-module but
Nginx package provides the version 1.18 of Nginx. Starting with Nginx
1.15, the Lua module version to use must be 0.10.14 at least.

This problem can be reproduced by adding the following in the http
block:

init_worker_by_lua_block {
}

Be aware of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/1893753
and problem with 0.10.15 or above version.

Regards,

[Bug 1915396] [NEW] /etc/lsb-release pointing to 18.04 after upgrade to 20.04

2021-02-11 Thread Francisco Robles Martín
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I have a Dell XPS 13 7390. It came with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS installed, and
then I upgraded it to 20.04 LTS (20.04.2 LTS).

I was installing git-lfs now, and thanks to the script they use to
determine the OS (https://packagecloud.io/install/repositories/github
/git-lfs/script.deb.sh detect_os function), I have found that in the
file /etc/lsb-release, it still points to 18.04. This is the current
content:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=18.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=bionic
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (beaver-three-eyed-raven X92)"

Meanwhile, if I get the Ubuntu version with "lsb_release -a" command, I
get:

No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Release:20.04
Codename: focal

Is this normal or there were some issue during the upgrade? Is the file
/etc/lsb-release deprecated? Should I fill it with the current values or
may I break something?

Thank you in advance!
Francisco Robles

[Bug 1915314] Re: systemd-xdg-autostart-generator: gnome-systemd-autostart-condition not found: No such file or directory

The 'fix' is to simply lower those log messages to debug level so you
don't see them anymore; as such, I don't really see a need to sru that
to 20.10.

Re: [Bug 1915026] Re: [i915] [Intel 965] Kernel GPU hang affecting the gnome-shell process

2021-02-11 Thread Patrick
Bonjour,

2021-02-11 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 1848923] Re: pollinate.service fails to start: ERROR: should execute as the [pollinate] user -- missing CacheDirectory=

2021-02-11 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
@Martin - since you made me think about that "/var/cache should be removable
without impact" I was looking around a bit and I think there would be many more
packages that are possible affected.
I mean each of them might be an individual case and have or ahve not an impact,
but this looks like a huge list.

  =>
https://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=mkdir.*%2Fvar%2Fcache+path%3Adebian%2F*&literal=0

@Martin - With your DD-hat on, would that need a mass bug filing in
Debian? Also could you link here to where the quote about /var/cache
being removable was from?

[Bug 1915396] Re: /etc/lsb-release pointing to 18.04 after upgrade to 20.04

2021-02-11 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1915396/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1914587] Re: make-edge-iso.sh fails on focal/ppc64el images

2021-02-11 Thread Paride Legovini
Well, those tens-of-gigabytes image sizes are definitely not normal. I
tried to make xorriso output to stdout to make it skip the free space on
target partition check, but it failed in the same way.

[Bug 1871991] Re: apt_check.py crashed with FileNotFoundError in _execute_child(): [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'lsb_release'

2021-02-11 Thread Hrafn Malmquist
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1573747 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1573747

I have the same problem. I have Ubuntu 20.04, uprgraded from 16.04.

I had some issues with lsb_release recently and changed lsb_release
going by https://stackoverflow.com/questions/44967202/pip-is-showing-
error-lsb-release-a-returned-non-zero-exit-status-1 after I switched
python from 2 -> 3 (sudo unlink /usr/bin/python; sudo ln -s
/usr/bin/python3.8 /usr/bin/python)

I then changed the first line of lsb_release to:
!/usr/bin/python3.5 -Es

[Bug 1905591] Re: no brightness control in {455, 460} after update from 450

2021-02-11 Thread Hugo Laloge
I have the same problem and the fix in comment #11 fixed it.

I agree with comment #16. I join a copy of my dmesg and Xorg.0.log
before and after the fix. I hope it will be useful.

[Bug 1902436] Re: Mouse slow in fractional scaling

2021-02-11 Thread Dimitrij Mijoski
I too can confirm this. I have much simpler configuration, a single
17-inch laptop with full HD resolution. OS version is Ubuntu 20.04.

Under X11, if I select any fractional scaling above 100%, the mouse
cursor moves slower via the touchpad. Under Wayland there are no
problems on any scaling.

Re: [Bug 1915382] Re: external Monitor shows»No Signal«after dpms sleep

2021-02-11 Thread karlsebal
Thanks for your prompt answer! I narrowed things down a bit.

As I am using i3 wayland is not an option. I tried a live ubuntu 20.04 and could
still reproduce the behaviour described. I went on to enable wayland in live
session but failed eventually: XDG_SESSION_TYPE still yielded `x11` but in the
process I restarted gdm3 -- and things were fixed. Okay, I went back to the os
installed (regolith linux which is i3 based on ubuntu) and after restarting
lightdm via systemctl, things are working as expected. That's weird.

Regarding your first question: It is HDMI indeed although xrandr claiming
otherwise. There is an HDMI port beneath a DP at the rear and the rest of it is
USB.

Can I somehow convice the live system to run on wayland? The procedure described
here: https://askubuntu.com/a/1258280/595512 did not work for me.
