[Bug 1902406] [NEW] ubiquity kubuntu 20.10 install screens truncated
Public bug reported: Performing the installation of Kubuntu 20.10 from kubuntu-20.10-desktop- amd64.iso, the installation screens exceed the size of the available window. In the initial windows, data is missing to the right while the "Install Kubuntu" button is visible. Starting on the next screen "keyboard Layout", the "Back" button is visible however the "Continue" button is off-screen and requires the user to drag the window to the left to see that button in order to proceed. This now positions the window to possibly see subsequent buttons positioned on the lower right of succeeding panes but now the Installation progress data in the leftmost column of the panes is now not visible. The user will have to scroll left to see that information. All of the other ubuntu distributions ensure that local scrolling is not required to navigate through the install process. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: kubuntu ubiquity ** Attachment added: "Screenshots" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1902406/+attachment/5429940/+files/U2010KDEGA%20Screenshots.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1902406 Title: ubiquity kubuntu 20.10 install screens truncated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1902406/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1902421] [NEW] High I am having issues on Xubuntu 20.04 revolving around WiFi
Public bug reported: Hello out their, I seem to be having some issues related WiFi on my Xubuntu 20.04 install. My main issue is that my WiFi connection on my Xubuntu install versus my Windows 7 Starter install is a lot slower. Currently the highest speed I have gotten on Xubuntu has been 10mbps, I was getting around 30-50mbps on Windows. I tried editing the default-wifi-powersave-on.conf and setting it to 2 because that seemed to be a commonly recommended answer, but doesn't seem to be helping. I have also tried using "Additional Drivers" to try and see if their was another driver available to no avail. [Bug 1902429] [NEW] uvcdynctrl unconditionall starts a debug log that can fill the /var partition
Public bug reported: Bug 1: /lib/udev/uvcdynctrl sets: debug=1 which means that it creates /var/log/uvcdynctrl-udev.log and logs its startup and environment there and each invocation. There is no related logrotate.d file to rotate this log, and there is no option to switch it off. Bug 2: related to the above is the fact that this script runs uvcdynctrl at the end, with the log still open. For my webcam *this* will occasionally (once every few days) get into a loop reporting: [libwebcam] Warning: The driver behind device video0 has a slightly buggy impl$ of the V4L2_CTRL_FLAG_NEXT_CTRL flag. It does not return the next higher control ID if a control query fails. A workaround has been enabled. This eventually (quickly?) fills the /var partition. The one I've just obtained was >8GB in size and contained > 116 million lines. Note that even having a logrotate.d script to rotate logs wouldn't help with this. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1902428/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
[Bug 1902436] [NEW] Mouse slow in fractional scaling
Public bug reported: I have a Dell XPS 17 with a 3,840 x 2,400 screen and an external monitor with 3840 x 1600 resolution. When I use only one of them it works totally fine. I use the external monitor without scaling and my notebook display with fractional scaling of 150%. But when i want to use both at the same time, my mouse starts to be slow. So in this scenario i have the external monitor at 100% and the notebook screen at 150%. Everything works fine expect the mouse which is slow,on both screens. What I found is, when i set both my screens to 200% while fractional scaling is enabled. The issue is gone. Same with 100%. But as soon as I start using fractions, the mouse is slow again. I don't believe it is an power issue because my hardware is mostly in idle. Also, i tried different mouses over Bluetooth and USB but no change. I am currently using 20.10 but had the same issue with 20.04. But when i use Wayland, the problem is gone. [Bug 1721987] Re: No sound from right audio channel
I was still having problems with my Lenovo Legion laptop, this is one of the pages where I stopped in and tried everything on it, to no avail. It looks like the specific issue here was fixed, and any other info I found on the internet was not working either. Turns out that by default, headphone jack had right channel turned all the way down! Here's what I did to fix: Open terminal window. Execute command: sudo alsamixer This is a terminal-based application that allows you to change audio output levels for different ports. You may need to press F6 to select your sound card -- mine was selected when I started the application. Basically Master and PCM all had both left and right channels maxed into the red zone. Headphones ONLY had the left channel. Press the right-arrow on your keyboard to go over to Headphones, then press the up-arrow repeatedly and the right channel level should increase, take it to the max with the left channel. Exit Alsa Mixer with the escape key. This fixed it but then the audio in the right channel, for whatever reason, was extremely quiet. I went into Ubuntu's basic sound settings window (Settings > Sound). I made sure I had the "Headphones - Built-in Audio" selected in the dropdown box for Output, then drug the balance slider all the way to the left and let go of mouse button. Then all the way to the right and let go of mouse button. Then back to the middle and let go of the mouse button. Now it was working and sounded great! I went back into alsamixer one more time, and noticed the right channel on the headphones had dropped a tiny notch compared to the left. I put it back to max, and exited Alsa Mixer. I now have no problems with my headset! If you're still struggling even though this bug fix was released a year ago, try my simple suggestion before you go all crazy editing files. I have finally ended up with binding both « thumbnails » folders through fstab adding those lines : # .xcf thumbnails from gimp snap for anyone /home/user_1/.cache/thumbnails/ /home/user_1/snap/gimp/common/.cache/thumbnails/nonebind0 0 /home/user_2/.cache/thumbnails/ /home/user_2/snap/gimp/common/.cache/thumbnails/nonebind0 0 /home/user_3/.cache/thumbnails/ /home/user_3/snap/gimp/common/.cache/thumbnails/nonebind0 0 This way, Gimp-snap actually writes its thumbnails there and then Nemo and Nautilus accordingly displays thumbnails for .xcf files. gThumb though still shows empty frames for .xcf files - but my main concern was the file explorer. [Bug 1753509] Re: avahi-daemon adds/installs every printer on network
This bug surely does not belong to "cups-filters" package. And probably it does not belong to Avahi. And to CUPS either. This bug does belong to GTK library and GTK apps which do not provide an option like "list only local CUPS printers, not everything Avahi has sniffed on the network". Avahi is right in its actions, and there are other software relying on its "enable-dbus" option. GTK as library is wrong in having this option enabled by default, and probably some of GTK apps have now learned to override this option properly (that is, in usable and understandable way for an end user). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1753509 Title: avahi-daemon adds/installs every printer on network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-filters/+bug/1753509/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1902398] Re: 2:4.11.6+dfsg-0ubuntu1.2 - Files shared via Samba are shown as folders
** Summary changed: - Files shared via Samba are shown as folders + 2:4.11.6+dfsg-0ubuntu1.2 - Files shared via Samba are shown as folders ** Summary changed: - 2:4.11.6+dfsg-0ubuntu1.2 - Files shared via Samba are shown as folders + Files shared via Samba are shown as folders - 4.11.6+dfsg-0ubuntu1.2 ** Description changed: Similar symptoms to Bug #1872476, however issues occur even with the patched version of the Samaba package (2:4.11.6+dfsg-0ubuntu1.2). + + Ubuntu 20.04, Samba pkg 4.11.6+dfsg-0ubuntu1.2 (latest in repo) [Symptoms] - When accessing Ubuntu-hosted Samba shares from MacOS, some files are represented as directories. - When accessing Ubuntu-hosted Samba shares from Windows, these same files are shown as directories, with a gray "X" over the folder icon. [Scenario / steps to reproduce] - Clean install of Ubuntu 20.04 - Install Samba package thru apt - Create Samba share pointing to folder on local filesystem - Access Samba share from MacOS machine - Observe that some or all files in the share are displayed as folders - Using Terminal on MacOS, cd-ing to the affected directory and running ls -al shows drwx, e.g. "drwxr--r--- 1 user group 2263221 Jul 21 2020 DSC_0524.JPG" despite DSC_0524.JPG being a file rather than a directory. - Copying any of these "files" to the MacOS machine's local filesystem will result in the file remaining a directory. Curiously, I've observed the behavior on only certain directories within a given Samba share. For example, I have a "media" share on my NAS, with 3 directories - Movies, TV, and Photos. In this Samba share, only the Photos directory exhibits the bug in question, which affects all files in the root of Photos as well as any files in any subdirectories. However no files in the Movies and TV directories in the root of the Samba share are affected. Also, this particular Samba share was running for approx 9 days before the bug took affect. No configuration changes were made (at least user- initiated ones) between normal operation and the issue starting. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1902398 Title: Files shared via Samba are shown as folders - 4.11.6+dfsg-0ubuntu1.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1902398/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
