[Bug 1882991] Re: Kernel 5.4.0-37-generic leads to black screen after grub, 5.4.0-26-generic works normally
Well "another time" came and I installed 440 again via apt and its booting fine; can only assume that the blanket purge of all things nvidia and subsequent reboots was the resolution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1882991 Title: Kernel 5.4.0-37-generic leads to black screen after grub, 5.4.0-26-generic works normally To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1882991/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1883040] Re: groovy daily won't boot anymore on some older BIOS boxes
Found it :) (thanks to @dax on IRC) http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/groovy/main/installer-amd64/20101020ubuntu621/legacy-images/netboot/mini.iso it boots on both boxes (to installer boot menu). I won't overwrite d755 so only went further on dc7700; it commenced debian installer, i went language, keyboard, it recognized network, I selected mirror and it started downloading components... I installed (full disk), including basic server, lubuntu desktop & ssh-server The install worked perfectly (no date in the /etc/apt/sources.list) file where I usually look for install .. but I can provide /var/log/installer/syslog or whatever but quick glance & all looks good. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1883040 Title: groovy daily won't boot anymore on some older BIOS boxes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/syslinux/+bug/1883040/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1867424] Re: motd-news transmitting private hardware data without consent or knowledge in background
I have decided to contact ICO (Information Commissioner's Office). Because Canonical Ltd. has handled my personal information (IP address, Hardware CPU, Choice of Cloud Hosting, and various meta-data) and the one of the company I work for without concent. The same apply to all users of Ubuntu (persons, companies, governements) worldwide on a daily basis. By collecting twice a day the following informations: - The public IP address where Ubuntu system is used (part of the log of the HTTPS server) - Date / Time when collected (part of the log of the HTTPS server) - Harware info such as CPU Vendor and Model (via /proc/cpuinfo) - The distribution version (via /etc/lsb-release) - The operating system (via uname -o) - The Linux kernel release (via uname -r) - The computer architecture aka machine hardware name (via uname -m) - Cloud Hosting: cloud identifier such as aws, gce, azure, lxd (via cloud-id part of cloud-init) - Total number of seconds the system has been up (via /proc/uptime) - The sum of how much time each core has spent idle in seconds (via /proc/uptime) - Version of curl software (launched as root which is a bad IT practice and a security risk) On top of that by making motd-news unremovable in the core of Ubuntu's base-files (like it was the case for Internet Explorer in Windows or the Telemery in Windows 10), they enforce the telemetry before you can disable it or opt-out from it. Fell free to fill your own complaint or contact your local information commissioner as this ticket is marked as Won't Fix by the manager of the Ubuntu Server team. https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/your-personal-information-concerns /personal-information-complaint/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1867424 Title: motd-news transmitting private hardware data without consent or knowledge in background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/base-files/+bug/1867424/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

To reproduce: + 2) Deleting a route in the settings window for a particular network makes the settings window for that network blank until re-opened. To reproduce: - Open GNOME settings on WiFi tab - Click gear icon next to any WiFi network - Add a new IPv4 route - Close the window - Re-open the window - Try to delete the route Expected result: The route is removed and when clicking "apply" it is gone permanently Actual result: All the widgets on the window disappear and the route is not removed permanently when clicking "apply" so it can be seen again when re-opening the window. [Bug 1882258] Re: XRDP to Ubuntu 19.10 request many popup dialog for creating a colorprofile
Found finally a solution: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/xrdp I propose to add this to the package to be able to solve it. This part was the Key: Next, create a polkit configuration file: sudo nano /etc/polkit-1/localauthority.conf.d/02-allow-colord.conf and input inside it: polkit.addRule(function(action, subject) { if ((action.id == “org.freedesktop.color-manager.create-device” || action.id == “org.freedesktop.color-manager.create-profile” || action.id == “org.freedesktop.color-manager.delete-device” || action.id == “org.freedesktop.color-manager.delete-profile” || action.id == “org.freedesktop.color-manager.modify-device” || action.id == “org.freedesktop.color-manager.modify-profile”) && subject.isInGroup(“{group}”)) { return polkit.Result.YES; } }); Finally, restart xrdp and you should be able to connect: sudo /etc/init.d/xrdp restart -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1882258 Title: XRDP to Ubuntu 19.10 request many popup dialog for creating a colorprofile To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/policykit-1-gnome/+bug/1882258/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
