[Bug 1883057] Re: package libc6:amd64 2.31-0ubuntu9 failed to install/upgrade: installed libc6:amd64 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2020-06-11 Thread FullName
P.S. Workaround: add echo before sleep in these files:
  /var/lib/dpkg/info/libc6:amd64.postinst;
  /var/lib/dpkg/info/libpam0g:amd64.postinst.

After that I successfully update to 20.04 LTS.

[Bug 1883065] [NEW] Dell Latitude/Precision: Linux hangs without plugged in power cable

2020-06-11 Thread Paul Menzel

> - Dell 7740 :

> I suppose that the bug can also affect Dell precision 7730

After experiencing this already on the Dell Latitude 5480/5488
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell-sputnik/+bug/1866343), we have seen
this now too with the Dell Precision 3540 (with dedicated AMD graphics
card).

Without the power cord plugged in, the system started fine, then
updating packages, including the Linux kernel, turning the system off,
and right back on, it went to GRUB, and GRUB was able to load Linux and
initrd, and starting Linux it hung.

Num lock key didn’t respond (but also didn’t blink – no idea if this
should work), and Ctrl + Alt + Del didn’t work either. So, the system
had to be powered off by pressing the power button for some (ten(?))
seconds.

Subsequent tries didn’t help, until we remembered the issues with the
other device, and plugging in the power cord fixed it.

With the power cable unplugged, it didn’t boot.

The state of the connected power cable only mattered, when starting the
Linux kernel. That means, plugging it in, when GRUB was active, the
system booted. Removing the cable, when GRUB was running, Linux hung.

I tried to get Linux messages, but `debug nomodeset earlyprintk=efi`
didn’t get Linux to output any messages.

### Workarounds ###

I was able to get Linux booting by adding either one of the following
Linux kernel parameters.

1. `maxcpus=1` (once it started with `maxcpus=2`)
2. `nosmp`
2. `acpi=off`
3. `nolapic`

In this state, there was only one CPU online. Trying to bring one more
online, the system always froze instantly.

echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/online

(Nothing in pstore either.) (Where maxcpus=2` worked, we were able to
bring a third CPU online, but the system froze when trying the fourth.)

### Reproducibilty ###

Letting the system sit over night, and trying again in the morning,
unfortunately, we did *not* test without a power cable plugged in, as we
had an idea to test the non-USB-Type-C power cable. With that the system
started.

Powering the system off, and unplugging the cable, the system booted
without issues. So something changed.

We weren’t able to get it into a state, where it doesn’t boot in the
last hour, but we would like this investigated, as we are giving these
systems to our users.

[Bug 1829399] Re: Lid switch triggered suspend takes much longer than UI triggered suspend

2020-06-11 Thread Darko Veberic
similar thing happens with my lenovo thinkpad x1 carbon gen5. the time
it takes for suspend is excrutiationgly long. it used to be a couple of
seconds, at most, now the wait for the red led on top of "i" in ThinkPad
logo seems to be taking for ages to start blinking. the output of the
loop (suggested by @arighi above)

while true ; do echo $(date) $(cat /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID/state) ;
done

gives the following:

[Bug 1878279] Re: Touchpad not recognized on Lenovo Ideapad 5 14IIL05 81YH

2020-06-11 Thread Ludovic LEMARINEL
Just some follow-up :
It seems that my touchpad is not the same as AdrienM, since my acpi dump is
about ELAN0001 and AdrienM's is ELAN2097.

Following some recommendations found on askubuntu.com, I'm currently
trying to compile a 5.7.2 kernel with added ELAN0001 id to
include/linux/input/elan-i2c-ids.h, and also made the elan touchscreen
driver as a module, since this driver recognizes the ELAN0001 as a touch
screen, and not a mouse.

I'll post an update when I'll have tested.

[Bug 404579] Re: Printing to file (ps or pdf) do not rotate the sheet

2020-06-11 Thread St. Schulte
The problem affects me at Linux Mint 19.3 Mate (Ubuntu 18.04 base), when I try
to print as portable PDF. It seems that kicad doesn't care if the page-setting
is portrait or landscape and always print in portrait-format. But default
settings of the printer is landscape.
This problem is mostly visible, if you select "scale to pagesize", not 1:1

[Bug 1868955] Re: [SRU] after upgrade to 20.04: posttls cannot connect to private/tlsmgr

2020-06-11 Thread Nick Tait
Hi guys.

Sorry for my slow response.

Jan what you are seeing is consistent with what I expected. i.e. The
addition of the RES_TRUSTAD flag to the postfix code allows the DANE
mechanism to work.

During my debugging of the postfix code, I was using posttls-finger, but
I never encountered the issue with the "posttls-finger: warning: connect
to private/tlsmgr: No such file or directory" message at all. But of
course when I'm running posttls-finger as part of my postfix
installation I do see that message (BTW I'm still on the unpatched
version at this moment).

I'm not sure why the behaviour is different, but it does seem that these
are two different problems.

Nick.

[Bug 1882943] Re: Boot freezes silently after 'intel-microcode' upgrade

2020-06-11 Thread Mirek Ingr
Correct, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS/focal.

Results of upgrading intel-microcode package to 3.20200609.0ubuntu0.20.04.2:
1) First reboot was successful (without dis_ucode_ldr flag)
2) Second and following reboots froze again, the behaviour is now the same as
stated in #1883002.
3) Workaround: Grub's dis_ucode_ldr flag fixes the problem, at least on a
temporary basis.

root@newton:~# cat

[Bug 1825755] Re: apt-mirror in all versions (including disco and last from github) doesn't mirror Commands-* files

2020-06-11 Thread Marcel Brouwers
Had this problem with apt-mirror on Xenial with Focal clients. Using
apt-mirror 0.5.4-1ubuntu0.18.04.1+testpkg20200428b2 from ppa:slashd/test
solved the problem for me. Thanks for the work on this.

[Bug 1883074] Re: After system reboot conn fails until swanctl restart

2020-06-11 Thread Tobias Brunner
In 18.04, strongswan.service is the legacy systemd unit that controls
starter/charon and loads configuration from ipsec.conf. The strongswan-
swanctl.service unit instead controls the charon-system daemon and is
configured via swanctl.conf, which the unit loads via `swanctl --load-
all` automatically. The legacy daemons are not necessary if that's used
and will actually conflict as both will try to listen on UDP ports
500/4500. If you configure via ipsec.conf, disable the strongswan-
swanctl.service unit (or just uninstall charon-systemd as you won't need
it) and use the legacy strongswan.service unit instead.

[Bug 1883082] [NEW] Crash when using Package-Whitelist-Strict

Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm trying to use unattended-upgrades only with a few packages from a
list; to do that I tried this simple /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/51local-ua

[Bug 1883002] Re: intel-ucode 20200609: hangs on Whiskey Lake

2020-06-11 Thread Andrea C
3.20200609.0ubuntu0.20.04.2 installs cleanly, but there is still a problem with
the new microcode causing freezes during boot.

I did some very unscientific testing in a couple of scenarios and came
up with the following numbers:

* on battery, cold boot: froze 1 out of 10 times
* on battery, warm boot: froze 6 out of 10 times
* on AC, cold boot : froze 0 out of 10 times
* on AC, warm boot : froze 9 out of 10 times

"Cold boot": system powered off, try to boot 5.4.0-37 in recovery mode to a
root shell
"Warm booot": "reboot" from a root shell in 5.4.0-37, try to boot 5.4.0-37 in
recovery mode to a root shell

So, while battery vs. AC seems to have some influence, the real
difference is in cold vs. warm boot.

When the system manages to boot, in the kernel log I get:

[0.00] microcode: microcode updated early to revision 0xd6, date =
2020-04-23
[0.667433] microcode: sig=0x806ec, pf=0x80, revision=0xd6

I can run more tests if needed.

[Bug 1848921] Re: iwlwifi firmware crashes intel 9260ac [8086:2526] subsystem [8086:0010]

2020-06-11 Thread Massimiliano Mantione
One more report.

Kernel 5.4.0-33-generic with the older
"iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode" firmware is not working flawlessly:
it periodically disconnects starting with an error "iwlwifi
:05:00.0: Error sending ADD_STA: time out after 2000ms.".

Probably once per hour.
Perhaps it happens because I had to reboot into Windows this morning...

Anyway, this bug is definitely still unfixed :-/
And consider that Fedora on 5.6 is in the same boat.

[Bug 1863455] Re: USB system (mouse and keybord) are not working since kernel update to 5.3.0-26 and 5.3.0-28

2020-06-11 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Hi, we’d need the information for 5.3/5.4 kernels that have
malfunctioned usb keyboard/mouse. Is it possible to login that system
running affected kernels remotely, e.g. ssh? Then you may run ‘sudo
apport-collect 1863455’ again to capture logs when the issue is
reproduced.

Or, is it possible to dump journal logs of a previous boot that was
running 5.3/5.4 kernels? You may want to try:

  $ journalctl -b -1 | tee journal.log | less

Replace that “-1” with “-2”, “-3”, ... . The simplest way is to boot 5.3
kernel once, reboot to 5.0 kernel and run journalctl as shown above.
Attach that journal.log if available.

** No longer affects: linux-signed-hwe (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1848921] Re: iwlwifi firmware crashes intel 9260ac [8086:2526] subsystem [8086:0010]

2020-06-11 Thread Horst Baerbel
I second that. Neither the -34 nor the -43 version fully resolve the
issue. 5GHz WiFi is practically unusable. 2.4GHz mostly works with -34
and -43, but keeps disconnecting. It's not really usable.

[Bug 1726432] Re: imagick causes php crash due to *** Error in `php': double free or corruption (out): 0x0000559cb19d3db0 *** Magick: abort due to signal 6 (SIGABRT) "Abort"...

2020-06-11 Thread killerbee
Confirmed on ubuntu 18.04
PHP
PHP 7.2.24-0ubuntu0.18.04.3 (cli) (built: Feb 11 2020 15:55:52) ( NTS )
Copyright (c) 1997-2018 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v3.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2018 Zend Technologies
with Zend OPcache v7.2.24-0ubuntu0.18.04.3, Copyright (c) 1999-2018, by
Zend Technologies

while trying to upgrade to nextcloud 18.0.6
After uninstallinging, upgrade to 18.0.6 works as expected.
Reinstalling php-imagick afterwards again makes nextcloud server unresponsive
(Empty page returned)
So currently no workaround known

[Bug 1883079] Re: The "MMap::MMap(FileFd&, unsigned long)" symbol is missing in libapt-pkg.so

2020-06-11 Thread Julian Andres Klode
MMap is an internal implementation detail that people have been using
accidentally when they wanted to open the cache, where they should use
pkgCacheFile for.

** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Invalid
