[Bug 1836929] Re: chrony has migration regressions from autopkgtests (disco/eoan)

2019-11-27 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Hi Chris,
your understanding is correct with the exception that IIRC autopkgtests of
"other" packages are done against what is in -release. So holding it in
proposed will not help all those.
Unless that behaves different between the current devel and past releases.

[Bug 1852857] Re: Use more modern Raven Ridge firmware in linux-firmware package

2019-11-27 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Hi, thank you for reporting this issue. We'd really like to improve
Bionic LTS as possible, but are also committed to keep it stable as
possible as well. If you're willing to spend some more time to locate
the effective commit or commits in the linux-firmware history, then we
can SRU those limited commits back to Bionic without bearing too much
unnecessary regression risk.

[Bug 1851340] Re: Ubuntu 19.10 upgrade results in invisible mouse cursor

2019-11-27 Thread John Hartley
Hi Paul,

I have also confirmed, that 5.4 kernel resolves issues:

Linux green 5.4.0-050400-generic #201911242031 SMP Mon Nov 25 01:35:10
UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Rather than building from source I got updated kernel package via
mainline kernel build site: https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v5.4/

with Installation of 5.4 via forked ukuu (Ubuntu Kernel Update Utility)
kernel installer: https://github.com/alcharkov/free-ukuu

I have used UI both via direct physical screen and remote x11vnc with
success.

Now we know resolution need to either just wait or get fix back ported
into 5.3

I am going to remove mainline kernel and live with inconvenience for the
time being.

Cheers,

Zebity.

[Bug 1854140] [NEW] add an option to not strip filesystem prefix from file names

2019-11-27 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Public bug reported:

The filesystem prefix of the files in the main/ directory is not
preserved when an initrd is unpacked with unmkinitramfs.

If the initrd is rebuilt directly from main/ with cpio, the resulting
file won't work because links are invalid.

unmkinitramfs should have an option to not strip filesystem prefixes and
preserve the content of the archive..

[Bug 1853852] Re: hard to reproduce issues in systemd autopkgtest against new libseccomp 2.4.2

2019-11-27 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Discussions with libseccomp upstream go well.
I might eventually need to go to upstream systemd and propose a fix, but before
doing so I need more clarification with libseccomp upstream and some more
testing.

Experimental branch for packaging experiments (d/p/patch file):
=>
https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/ubuntu/+source/systemd/log/?h=fix-MemoryDenyWriteExecute-x86-s390-bug-1853852

Experimental branch to be submitted upstream (individual patches) after being
polished and tested:

I added this comment to help other with a work around: simply edit the file
/usr/share/evolution/ui/evolution-mail-reader.ui and change the toolbar
according to your taste.
Still hope we'll get in future a better (graphical) way to do this.

[Bug 1853459] Re: bionic/linux-hwe-edge: 5.3.0-23.25~18.04.2 -proposed tracker

2019-11-27 Thread Kleber Sacilotto de Souza
I am going to override the status of the security-signoff task to 'Fix
Released' based on the following rationale:

- There are no CVE fixes involved in this release. Although this re-spin was
done to fix a bug in the module signing code that affects secure boot (bug
1852581), this was reported as a regular bug. Therefore there is no need for an
update to the USN reports.
- This is a re-spin to fix a bug reported against 5.3.0-23.25~18.04.1, which
was published to the -security pocket. Therefore this update needs to be
published to -security as well.

[Bug 1853721] Re: Possible cause for 19.10 invisible cursor with Matrox graphics

2019-11-27 Thread John Hartley
Yes I have also verified using binary kernel package from:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.4/

# uname -a
Linux green 5.4.0-050400-generic #201911242031 SMP Mon Nov 25 01:35:10 UTC 2019
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Would it be possible to get fix:

 mgag200:
   - cursor support fix

Backported into 5.3 ?

Also is next release (20.04 ?) targeting to use 5.4 kernel ?

Thank you.

[Bug 1854148] Re: [UBUNTU] openCryptoki: pkcsep11_migrate: Fix re-encryption of EP11 key blobs

2019-11-27 Thread Frank Heimes
Since we don't do version bumps on Ubuntu versions that are already released,
we will probably just cherry-pick the fix for 19.10, 19.04, 18.04, and 16.04.
20.04 may come with an updated package, like 3.12.1.

[Bug 1853818] Re: utf8 non ascii characters are not accepted as input of the mysql command line

2019-11-27 Thread Pierre François
I wonder how I have to edit the summary of the bug above. I don't know
if it is a good idea anyway. Perhaps it is better to close this report
and to open a new bug report with a new summary. Any advice?

[Bug 1853818] Re: utf8 non ascii characters are not accepted as input of the mysql command line

2019-11-27 Thread Pierre François
I discovered today that I inherited in my current bash an alias from the
setup of a previous installation:

alias mysql='mysql --default-character-set=utf8'

Since I removed that alias (with unalias mysql), the misbehaviour
disappeared.

So, the description of the bug should be reformulated in the following
way: "utf8 non ascii characters are not accepted as input of the mysql
command line when launched with the option --default-character-
set=utf8".
