[Bug 1853061] Re: Connection to USB-C hub frequently drops when charging over it
I tried installing the deb files linux-headers-5.4.0-050400rc8_5.4.0-050400rc8.201911171930_all.deb linux-headers-5.4.0-050400rc8-generic_5.4.0-050400rc8.201911171930_amd64.deb linux-image-unsigned-5.4.0-050400rc8-generic_5.4.0-050400rc8.201911171930_amd64.deb linux-modules-5.4.0-050400rc8-generic_5.4.0-050400rc8.201911171930_amd64.deb and booting with the new kernel but my system did not seem to be wholly compatible. The proprietary nvidia drivers I am using (nvidia-driver-440 off of the Ubuntu graphics-drivers ppa) did not seem to be compatible with these kernel debs. I was unable to get to the Gnome desktop when trying to use nouveau drivers with kernel 5.4.0. I will try again and see if I can get to the desktop when I get a chance to debug the boot process in a day or two. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1853061 Title: Connection to USB-C hub frequently drops when charging over it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1853061/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1852794] Re: Dell PowerEdge R630 won't boot with 4.4.0-168.197 and later
Hi Khaled, sorry for not answering earlier, I've been off sick. 1) Yes. We have two Dell R630 machines, natasha and opelt. The former (natasha) doesn't boot, while the latter (opelt) does boot. I've attached the lshw output for them both. They do have different CPUs, for examples. 2) It's a matter of booting from grub vs booting from lpxelinux. I mainly wanted to confirm that it's not an issue that's specific to lpxelinux. I used MAAS to do the installation, and I forced it to use 4.4.0-166.195 for the installation. I'll see if I can try and boot it with 4.4.0-167.196 today. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852794 Title: Dell PowerEdge R630 won't boot with 4.4.0-168.197 and later To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1852794/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete. If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: python-cryptography (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1853023 Title: package python-cryptography 1.2.3-1ubuntu0.2 failed to install/upgrade: unable to stat './usr/lib/python2.7/dist- packages/cryptography/hazmat/primitives/asymmetric/__init__.py' (which I was about to install): Structure needs cleaning To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-cryptography/+bug/1853023/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1852994] Re: samba creates temporary files in /tmp, but never deletes them
This pretty much sounds like [1][2]. While there might be a fix for it in the future in the code (the BZ looks that way) There are two important things to take away right now: 1. it seems to depend on a slight misconfiguration (different in lower/upper case in user name) Something similar might apply to your case 2. [Bug 1852994] Re: samba creates temporary files in /tmp, but never deletes them
Hi Thomas, I assume you use sssd+kerberos to join an active directory or such? Is that correct, could you summarize your setup so that people can try to reproduce this? Have you already identified on which action new tmp directories are created - is it logging into the AD or some other action on the samba server that can be identified? [Bug 1852347] Re: [MIR] tpm-udev
libtss2-udev was part of tpm2-tss when it was MIR+Security reviewed in Disco. The new tpm-udev package was split out after that review to be re-usable in different places. But the content is exactly what was reviewed: Disco: $ dpkg -L libtss2-udev /. /lib /lib/udev /lib/udev/rules.d /lib/udev/rules.d/60-libtss2-udev.rules /usr /usr/share /usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc/libtss2-udev /usr/share/doc/libtss2-udev/changelog.Debian.gz /usr/share/doc/libtss2-udev/copyright /var /var/lib /var/lib/tpm $ md5sum /lib/udev/rules.d/60-libtss2-udev.rules 29b0b97d7fbee510da26feb36f5222e5 /lib/udev/rules.d/60-libtss2-udev.rules Focal: $ dpkg -L tpm-udev /. /lib /lib/udev /lib/udev/rules.d /lib/udev/rules.d/60-tpm-udev.rules /usr /usr/share /usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc/tpm-udev /usr/share/doc/tpm-udev/changelog.gz /usr/share/doc/tpm-udev/copyright /var /var/lib /var/lib/tpm $ md5sum /lib/udev/rules.d/60-tpm-udev.rules 29b0b97d7fbee510da26feb36f5222e5 /lib/udev/rules.d/60-tpm-udev.rules See that even the md5 on the rules is the same that was reviewed in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tpm2-tss/+bug/1841595/comments/6 already. The changes since then are in the postinst (as that is its main function). That covers: - mark libtss2-udev Multi-Arch: foreign (Closes: #941146) - call udevadm trigger after installing libtss2-udev (Closes: #940642) - /var/lib/tpm/ not owned by tss user/group (Closes: #940643) All of these seem right and not security critical (well the last is even an improvement). Therefore since all the content was actually already reviewed and the packaging on this seems to be fine as well IMHO we can fast-path this to the same approved state as the base MIR in bug 1841595. [Bug 1846821] Re: Qt print dialog has wrong default page size
Normally, as this is not really a high-impact bug, I would be a bit reluctant to accept it as an SRU. Since every SRU introduces risks, especially if it's in a big core package like qtbase. [Bug 1846821] Please test proposed package
Hello Maciej, or anyone else affected, Accepted qtbase-opensource-src into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /qtbase-opensource-src/5.9.5+dfsg-0ubuntu2.4 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. [Bug 1852367] Re: [MIR] mysql-router (mysql-8.0)
[Summary] - MIR Team ack - needs no subscriber as it is part of mysql-8 which has the server Team subscribed already @Security - Security check of the subdir router/* requested @Server - While security is working on the review the server Team should try to enable the tests in router/test/* in either build or autopkgtest - should we add a service file or something or is this intentionally up to the users and/or the mentioned charms thereof? - d/copyright could get an update lintian yells about it all over the place [Background] This is the request to review a new binary of a package otherwise already in main. But since the functionality wasn't in the source long ago when it was accepted and since functionally it is rather (security) critical a re-review was requested. Going forward it is important to understand that we are not (re-)reviewing all of mysql but the subdir router/* and its associated snippets in the build system and debian directory. [Duplication] There is no other package that provides the function of mysql-router. There are other DB-proxies like postgresql-12-pgpool2 mariadb maxscale, ... there is none for mysql yet and none in main. [Embedded sources and static linking] - no embedded libs - no golang [Security] - no history of CVEs - does not use webkit1,2 - does not use lib*v8 directly - does not processe arbitrary web content - does not use centralized online accounts - does not integrate arbitrary javascript into the desktop - does not deal with system authentication (eg, pam), etc) Ok, but worth to look at: - while it does not run a daemon as root (we only provide the binary, no service) That still means for deployment people will have to use it in such a way or similar => https://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-router/8.0/en/mysql-router-general-using-deploying.html - while only redirecting instead of handling the requests it does parses data formats - it opens a port or sockets depending on setup - technically a proxy is itself a "man in the middle" so attacks like that get more attack surface to work with While being under the same strict coverage like mysql8 itself being part of the same source feels good I think this is worth a check by the security Team. [Common blockers] - builds fine atm - already has a bug subscriber - translations are not present (for this componentn) but it isn't user facing - not a python package, so no further checks on that needed Not perfect, but acceptable for now: - router has an own test section in the code at router/tests But I see none of them run at build or autopkgtest time: => https://launchpadlibrarian.net/452198941/buildlog_ubuntu-focal-amd64.mysql-8.0_8.0.18-0ubuntu3_BUILDING.txt.gz => https://objectstorage.prodstack4-5.canonical.com/v1/AUTH_77e2ada1e7a84929a74ba3b87153c0ac/autopkgtest-focal/focal/amd64/m/mysql-8.0/20191119_213042_010c3@/log.gz Adding that would be great for QA [Packaging red flags] - Ubuntu carries delta in general but nothing massive and nothing on router - it has a bunch of "internal" libs in /usr/lib/mysql-router/ not meant for external usage. While tracking symbols is nice in this case it isn't strictly required Also once bug 1845661 is fixed this is gone. - d/watch is ok - updates are regular including upstram minor releases and seucrity maintenance - it is up to date - src:mysql is maintained anyway already (no extra burden) - No critical massive Lintian warnings - d/rules isn't the cleanest, but ok for the complexity of the project - no Built-Using [Upstream red flags] - no build errors during the build - no incautious use of malloc/sprintf (in the new code) - no use of sudo, gksu, pkexec, or LD_LIBRARY_PATH - no User nobody - no use of setuid - being a dependency of desktop packages mysql is known to have a lot of "non expert" bugs, but mysql-router will only be pulled in on more classic server deployments. Currently no important bugs (crashers, etc) in Debian or Ubuntu are blocking the router feature - no use of Dependency on webkit, qtwebkit, seed or libgoa-* - no Embedded source copies - not integrating to Unity Dash ** Changed in: mysql-8.0 (Ubuntu) Assignee: Christian Ehrhardt (paelzer) => Ubuntu Security Team (ubuntu-security) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852367 Title: [MIR] mysql-router (mysql-8.0) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-8.0/+bug/1852367/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
