[Bug 1840552] Re: Permission denied when using vfio with interface pools
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1677398 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1677398 Hi, this is a dup to bug 1677398. The TL;DR is that in some guest description libvirt doesn't know (at the right time and place) what the device will be. Due to that it can't render the per-guest apparmor rules correctly for this extra device. In a similar fashion bug 1775777 had issues with late additions of vfio devices. The solution for now is that an admin has to opt-in and allow e.g. /dev/vfio/* rw, For all guests by setting that in /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu (bionic) or better as it isn't overwritten (conffile conflict) on upgrades /etc/apparmor.d/local/abstractions/libvirt-qemu (later versions) ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1677398 Apparmor prevents using storage pools and hostdev networks -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1840552 Title: Permission denied when using vfio with interface pools To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1840552/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1840619] [NEW] skb_warn_bad_offload kernel splat due to CHECKSUM target not compatible with GSO skbs
Public bug reported: BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/ [Impact] In environments which have CHECKSUM iptables rules set, the following kernel call trace will be created when a GSO skb is processed by the CHECKSUM target: WARNING: CPU: 34 PID: 806048 at /build/linux-zdslHp/linux-4.4.0/net/core/dev.c:2456 skb_warn_bad_offload+0xcf/0x110() qr-f78bfdf7-fe: caps=(0x0fdb58e9, 0x0fdb58e9) len=1955 data_len=479 gso_size=1448 gso_type=1 ip_summed=3 CPU: 34 PID: 806048 Comm: haproxy Tainted: GW OE 4.4.0-138-generic #164-Ubuntu Call Trace: dump_stack+0x63/0x90 warn_slowpath_common+0x82/0xc0 warn_slowpath_fmt+0x5c/0x80 ? ___ratelimit+0xa2/0xe0 skb_warn_bad_offload+0xcf/0x110 skb_checksum_help+0x185/0x1a0 checksum_tg+0x22/0x29 [xt_CHECKSUM] ipt_do_table+0x301/0x730 [ip_tables] ? ipt_do_table+0x349/0x730 [ip_tables] iptable_mangle_hook+0x39/0x107 [iptable_mangle] nf_iterate+0x68/0x80 nf_hook_slow+0x73/0xd0 ip_output+0xcf/0xe0 ? __ip_flush_pending_frames.isra.43+0x90/0x90 ip_local_out+0x3b/0x50 ip_queue_xmit+0x154/0x390 __tcp_transmit_skb+0x52b/0x9b0 tcp_write_xmit+0x1dd/0xf50 __tcp_push_pending_frames+0x31/0xd0 tcp_push+0xec/0x110 tcp_sendmsg+0x749/0xba0 inet_sendmsg+0x6b/0xa0 sock_sendmsg+0x3e/0x50 SYSC_sendto+0x101/0x190 ? __sys_sendmsg+0x51/0x90 SyS_sendto+0xe/0x10 entry_SYSCALL_64_fastpath+0x22/0xc1 The CHECKSUM target does not support GSO skbs, and when a GSO skb is passed to skb_checksum_help(), it errors out and skb_warn_bad_offload() is called. The above call trace was found in a customer environment which has an Openstack deployment, with the following sorts of iptables rules set: -A neutron-l3-agent-POSTROUTING -o qr-+ -p tcp -m tcp --sport 9697 -j CHECKSUM --checksum-fill -A neutron-dhcp-age-POSTROUTING -p udp -m udp --dport 68 -j CHECKSUM --checksum-fill This was causing haproxy running on the node to crash and restart every time a GSO skb was processed by the CHECKSUM target. I recommend reading the netdev mailing list thread for more details: https://www.spinics.net/lists/netdev/msg517366.html [Fix] This was fixed in 4.19 upstream with the below commit: commit 10568f6c5761db24249c610c94d6e44d5505a0ba Author: Florian Westphal Date: Wed Aug 22 11:33:27 2018 +0200 Subject: netfilter: xt_checksum: ignore gso skbs This commit adds a check to see if the current skb is a gso skb, and if it is, skips skb_checksum_help(). It then continues on to check if the packet uses udp, and if it does, exits early. Otherwise it prints a single warning that CHECKSUM should be avoided, and if really needed, only for use with outbound udp. Note, 10568f6c5761db24249c610c94d6e44d5505a0ba was included in upstream stable version 4.18.13, and was backported to bionic in 4.15.0-58.64 by LP #1836426. This patch required minor backporting for 4.4, by slightly adjusting the context in the final patch hunk. [Testcase] You can reproduce this by adding the following iptables rule: -A POSTROUTING -p tcp -m tcp --sport 80 -j CHECKSUM --checksum-fill and running traffic over port 80. I built a test kernel, which is available here: https://launchpad.net/~mruffell/+archive/ubuntu/sf216537-test For unpatched kernels, this causes the process which was handeling the socket to crash, as seen by haproxy crashing on a node in production which hits this issue. On patched kernels you see the warning printed to dmesg and no crashes occur. [Regression Potential] The changes are limited only to users which have CHECKSUM rules enabled in their iptables configs. Openstack commonly configures such rules on deployment, even though they are not necessary, as almost all packets have their checksum calculated by NICs these days, and CHECKSUM is only around to service old dhcp clients which would discard UDP packets with empty checksums. This commit was selected for upstream -stable 4.18.13, and has made its way into bionic 4.15.0-58.64 by LP #1836426. There have been no reported problems and those kernels would have had sufficient testing with Openstack and its configured iptables rules. If any users are affected by regression, then they can simply delete any CHECKSUM entries in their iptables configs. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1840619 Title: skb_warn_bad_offload kernel splat due to CHECKSUM target not compatible with GSO skbs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1840619/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1840624] [NEW] Ubuntu 18.04: Can't remove software key via software-properties package GUI

It does not delete any trusted software keys. I had to resort to using cli cmds as given in https://askubuntu.com/questions/107177/how-can-i -remove-gpg-key-that-i-added-using-apt-key-add/846877#846877 to remove any trusted software keys. [Bug 1832622] Re: QEMU - count cache flush Spectre v2 mitigation (CVE) (required for POWER9 DD2.3)
Hi, since we are waiting quite some time for ther verification of the version in the PPAit got surpassed by other SRUs. I know your engineers know how to test explicit versions from the PPA (with apt install =version), but to make things even easier I created (just for bionic) a respin rebased to the new version. If it helps you, then you you might use PPA [1] for your test on the DD2.3 HW. [Bug 1840633] [NEW] autopkgtests get stuck in Eoan with iptables 1.8.3
Public bug reported: Hi, it is time to report a bug to keep all info in one place. First of all ufw tests were broken with iptables 1.8.3 due to an ordering issue in the output. This I fixed and tested in [1]. It only adds one more "allowed result" to one of the tests, so it should be no big change. I double checked the upload to not (by any accident) change something else. $ debdiff ufw_0.36-1ubuntu1.dsc ufw_0.36-1ubuntu2.dsc | diffstat changelog |8 patches/0003-fix-test-iptables1.8.patch | 4151 patches/series |1 3 files changed, 4160 insertions(+) $ grep -e '---' -e '+++' ufw-0.36/debian/patches/0003-fix-test-iptables1.8.patch --- /dev/null +++ b/tests/root/valid/result.1.8 --- /dev/null +++ b/tests/root/valid6/result.1.8 => That seems safe to me. But since this hit Eoan the tests get stuck and hang what seems until aborted (we have seen up to 75h). A normal execution in the past was ~30 minutes. The modified test worked fine: http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/RKFvhTP8Ft/ But the test for ufw has multiple runs and I only fixed/modified/tested the "root-unitest". I'm running the full test now hoping it might reproduce locally for debugging. First I thought something else in Eoan changed now trigging this issue. But that is rather unlikely, as without the new iptables it works fine. So for now the working theory for now is that iptables 1.8.3 changed something else changed Formerly this was not seen as it failed on the bug I fixed before hitting the hang. But with the fix above applied it now triggers the hang. It always hangs at this tests: Test get_netfilter_capabilities() ERROR (CommandError): No server with a name or ID of '0eb6260d-c544-41eb-8cfa-baa9a745c528' nova show 0eb6260d-c544-41eb-8cfa-baa9a745c528 (adt-eoan-s390x-ufw-20190815-202934) The test uses no Nova, the last two lines is from the automation being aborted. What is interesting is that this test would be ran up to three times, and it sometimes succeeds one or two times now. So it might (in addition to be broken) also be flaky. [Bug 1840640] [NEW] sync_file_range fails in nspawn containers on arm, ppc
Public bug reported: ARM has two sync_file_range syscalls, sync_file_range and sync_file_range2. The former is apparently not used, and glibc calls the latter whenever a userspace program calls sync_file_range. I'm guessing systemd-nspawn doesn't know this, because the follow code consistently fails in an nspawn container on ARM: #define _GNU_SOURCE #include #include #include #include void main() { int f = open("/tmp/syncrange.test",O_CREAT|O_RDWR,0666); int r=sync_file_range(f, 0, 0, 0); if (r) perror("sync_file_range"); close(f); } This seems to be causing problems specifically for borg(backup) and postgres: https://github.com/borgbackup/borg/issues/4710 https://www.postgresql.org/message-id/flat/CA%2BhUKG%2BydOUT4zjxb6QmJWy8U9WbC-q%2BJWV7wLsEY9Df%3Dmw0Mw%40mail.gmail.com#ac8f14897647dc7eae3c7e7cbed36d93 The solution should be to cherrypick https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/13352, I am currently waiting for systemd to rebuild on a slow ARM box. I couldn't work out how to copy it into a PPA without rebuilding it. In the short term can someone please at least confirm that no new update will be shipped for Bionic which *doesn't* fix this, so that I don't have to play games with keeping a package in that repository "newer" than the latest in bionic-updates? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754671 Title: Full-tunnel VPN DNS leakage regression To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/1754671/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! ** Changed in: bird2 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1840603 Title: Installation error with bird2 from ppa:cz.nic-labs/bird on Ubuntu 1804 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bird2/+bug/1840603/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1839381] Re: Regression after Kernel updates: Failed Boots with LUKS on LVM
Hello Jo, To achieve this, append string: nopti To GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub So let's say if your GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT looks like this: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" Make it: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nopti" When it's done, run "sudo update-grub" and restart you system.
