[Bug 1797386] Re: [SRU] OpenSSL 1.1.1 to 18.04 LTS

2019-05-31 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
The libio-socket-ssl-perl SRU seems to have broken dependencies, causing
build failures for other SRUs (ibus-libpinyin) and image builds.

libio-socket-ssl-perl : Depends: libnet-ssleay-perl (>= 1.84-1ubuntu0.1)
but it is not going to be installed

I'm actually considering removing the SRU from the -proposed pocket
because of that.

The issue was solved from my side by switching back to firefox. Before I had
complete freezes but only the browser, this problem seems to be solved.
Since not using chromium there was no machine freeze at all.

[Bug 1797386] Please test proposed package

2019-05-31 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Dimitri, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libnet-ssleay-perl into bionic-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnet-
ssleay-perl/1.84-1ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1797386] Re: [SRU] OpenSSL 1.1.1 to 18.04 LTS

2019-05-31 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Ok, so not having full context as some of the discussion was happening
on IRC (and no mention of it was left on the bug here + the package was
not rejected from the queue), I have possibly prematurely accepted the
libnet-ssleay-perl SRU. After getting logs from Rik I see there's still
no consensus on whether the read()/write() behavioral change is
wanted/acceptable or not. When reviewing the package I got the
impression that it was an approved change (per regression potential).

To my defense: with bionic-proposed being in a broken state causing
build failures for both packages and images, the only two sane options
were either accepting the package as-is or removing the two previous
SRUs from -proposed.

Since I was obviously missing context and did barge in uninvited: Steve,
if you think that the SRU is not really acceptable as is, please request
a follow up upload with further changes. Thanks.

[Bug 1831021] Re: Extremely high memory consumption under heavy workload

2019-05-31 Thread Dariusz Gadomski
In a recent test with MaxJobs of 4 I was easily able to reach over
65 GB of memory consumption within 60 mins, while with LogDebugHistory
set to 0 the consumption was below 400 MB.

My recommendation is to lower the default LogDebugHistory value back to
what is upstream: 200.

[Bug 1831203] [NEW] flash overloads cpu, kills performance

2019-05-31 Thread Andrew
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
Release:16.04

# apt-cache policy flashplugin-installer
flashplugin-installer:
  Installed: 32.0.0.192ubuntu0.16.04.1
  Candidate: 32.0.0.192ubuntu0.16.04.1
  Version table:

Packages

 11.2.202.616ubuntu1 500

System freezes for ten seconds and/or much longer.
I would say "See attached screenshot"... but that doesn't appear to be an
option here.

Note CPU usage by plugin.
Also please note virtual memory usage by firefox, I don't know if it's
relevant. I have 8GB RAM. I frequently have a dozen windows and 50+ tabs open.
Some windows have many more tabs than others.

I have to wonder if this isn't a kernel bug? Or a top bug? How can a
system use more than 100% of the CPU? Is it trying to somehow express
the fact that I have 8 cores and 117% means something?

[Bug 1817020] Re: Touching and dragging an icon on the dock blocks input to other apps

2019-05-31 Thread Will Cooke
I have installed GNOME Shell 3.28.4-0ubuntu18.04.1 from proposed.

I have tested this fix by dragging an icon up and down the launched with
my finger and dropping on it on icons. In the past I could lock up the
shell very easily. Now I can't get it to crash at all.

Marking as verification done.

Thanks all.

[Bug 1831204] [NEW] Package geckodriver

2019-05-31 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Public bug reported:

Using selenium to drive firefox requires an executable called
geckodriver, which is nowhere to be found in Ubuntu packages. Instead,
all the information I could find on the internet suggests fetching that
executable from upstream and installing it to /usr/local/bin (see e.g.
https://askubuntu.com/questions/851401/where-to-find-geckodriver-needed-
by-selenium-python-package).

The sources for geckodriver are included in the firefox source tarball, and the
executable is being built when building packages, but it's not installed
anywhere.
I propose to create a new firefox-geckodriver binary package for this purpose,
similar to the chromium-chromedriver package.

For context, I became interested in driving firefox with selenium when
attempting to replicate chromium-browser's autopkgtests
(https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~chromium-team/chromium-browser/eoan-
stable/files/head:/debian/tests/).

Upstream documentation for geckodriver: https://firefox-source-
docs.mozilla.org/testing/geckodriver/.

[Bug 1831203] Re: flash overloads cpu, kills performance

2019-05-31 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1831203/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1830883] Re: iwlwifi Intel 8265 firmware crashing in powersave mode

2019-05-31 Thread jnns
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected disco wayland-session

** Description changed:

When I disconnect my AC adapter or run `sudo tlp bat` to switch to
battery mode my wifi stops working. Reconnecting the AC adapter or
running `sudo tlp ac` returns the wifi adapter to a functioning state.

I use the default TLP configuration without modifications and at first I
was thinking that this is a bug in TLP. The FAQs already have an entry
about this and state that this is due to the "kernel driver does not
implement power saving properly" [1]. This is why I'm reporting the
  issue here.

I'm using Ubuntu Disco and I remember this working in previous Ubuntu
versions / kernels. This happened on kernel 5.0.0-15-generic but also on
  the 5.1.5-050105-generic mainline kernel.

Below is a snippet of /var/log/syslog at the moment of switching TLP to
battery mode. Battery mode was activated at 11:25 and AC mode was re-
  activated around 11:27.

Please let me know if this is actually the right place to submit this
bug report and whether I can provide more information.

[Bug 1830883] Re: iwlwifi Intel 8265 firmware crashing in powersave mode

2019-05-31 Thread jnns
Thank you for helping out, Seth.

`dmesg | grep firmware` shows me

> [ 1360.174032] iwlwifi :02:00.0: Loaded firmware version:
36.9f0a2d68.0

so I assume that my /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8265-36.ucode is being used.
That's also the latest version in the linux-firmware git tree.

Is there anything else I can check before publishing another bug report
at kernel.org?

Would someone be able to post some screenshots showing Colibre so that
we can all see what's being discussed?

I've used this page as a primer:
https://colibreoffice.wordpress.com/2018/05/21/libreoffice-6-1-fits-

and on first inspection, I like.

[Bug 1828604] Re: Lenovo T490S and X390 GM do not have Firefox.App store install errors out

2019-05-31 Thread Bin Li
I tried to remove all the gnome-* snaps in /var/lib/snapd/seed/seed.yaml
and run "snap abort --last=seed", "sudo systemctl restart snapd".

$ sudo snap install gnome-3-28-1804

It prompt download the core18(20190508 970).

So this hang is related to the wrong version of ubuntu core.

[Bug 1830936] Re: Wayland freeze 18.04 using VLC

2019-05-31 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks.

Unfortunately those crash files don't appear to be related to this bug.
That's not completely surprising if the "freeze" isn't caused by a
crash.

Next, please get a second computer and ssh into the freezing one (you
may need to install 'openssh-server' on the freezing one first). Then
reproduce the freeze and while it is frozen, from ssh run:

  killall -ABRT gnome-shell

Wait a minute or two and that should produce a new crash file. Then
follow the instructions in comment #2 again.

[Bug 1831101] Re: rsync with remote sudo fails over ssh/pki with protocol mismatch error

2019-05-31 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
I have set this up in Xenial/Bionic/Eoan
The following syncs nicely a dir created as root to need the sudo to read it:

$ rsync -AEaogt --rsync-path="sudo rsync" -e "ssh -o
StrictHostKeyChecking=no -o UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null" /tmp/foo
ubuntu@10.253.194.115:/tmp

This works among all pairs and cross releases.

Now lets brainstorm what might happen in your case ...

I have:
1. setup rsync to be sudo enabled without PW in /etc/sudoers
  %sudo ALL= NOPASSWD:/usr/bin/rsync
2. then I exchanged ssh keys between all nodes

That got it working, no more needed.

Did you use the same sudoers hint to make it PW-less?

I have read through your log twice but can't find anything obvious.
You could try to set up another user special to this use case.
And let that user have no .bashrc nor anything else (maybe the login with rsync
triggers a different path and there you have output). At least that would be an
easy try.

Most things you find on the net about this is about clearing the non
interactive login, but I think you have done that. What might be worth
to take a look is dropping strict host keycheck option and really make
sure all keys are accepted - maybe something with that is going on in
the background?

[Bug 1831220] [NEW] Add hexchat by default on all ubuntu flavours

2019-05-31 Thread lotuspsychje
Public bug reported:

Please consider adding hexchat by default on ubuntu flavours so users needing
help
can connect to the relevant irc support channel of their favorite flavour easy
when they encounter problems.
Auto joining the right support channel could also be an option.

This could avoid the creating of (too quick) bugs, lighter the work for
developers.

The ubuntu community could also benefit this, making their irc channels
more active again.

[Bug 1831219] [NEW] Refresh RaspberryPi BSP

Public bug reported:

BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1831219
BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1825235

Impact:

Since the release of Ubuntu Disco, the upstream RaspberryPI BSP has
received a lot of bug fixes and improvements over the release imported
in disco/raspi2.

Among the fixes, it corrects a patological 'fictious high load
situation' we inherithed from upstream:

https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/2881

BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1825235

Fix:

As part of our SRU process, remove the imported RaspberryPI BSP (first
patch in the series) and do a fresh import of the latest available
revision

Regression:

Since it contains many changes, it comes with regression risks, but so
does every stable update series we apply

[Bug 1830040] Re: acpi-call 1.1.0-4 ADT test failure with linux 5.2.0-0.1

2019-05-31 Thread Raphaël Halimi
Hi,

Thanks again for your help.

Finally, instead of hard-coding a list of architectures supporting ACPI,
someone on debian-devel suggested to test for ACPI support at build
time, and I like this idea a lot.

Can you please tell me what's the value of "CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_ACPI"
on an architecture which doens't support ACPI ? For example, please grep
CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_ACPI in
/lib/modules/-/build/.config.

For the moment, my solution consist of adding this snippet at the end of
the DKMS config file:

# On architectures which don't support ACPI, disable building
if ! grep -q "^CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_ACPI=y$" "$kernel_source_dir/.config"
2>/dev/null ; then
  BUILD_EXCLUSIVE_ARCH="^do_not_build$"
fi

I'd just like to test it on an unsupported architecture before uploading
the new package.

[Bug 1812527] Re: [bionic][regression] gnome-shell crashes with SIGSEGV in meta_window_actor_is_destroyed(self=NULL) called from _switchWorkspaceDone() [windowManager.js:1787]

2019-05-31 Thread ekimai
It would appear that something has changed in the Android emulator, and
it's less likely to be the cause of the crash.

I'd expected to simply run gnome with animations turned on, run the
emulator, get a crash when switching desktops. While this now seems
more stable, it does occasionally crash.

I can confirm that using the above update resolves the problem. I've
been using it for a couple of days without any issues.

Thanks for the reply. Earlier, taking suggestions from the community I
used the default video player and mpv video player which I downloaded
from the store app in 18.04. Both work fine with the same files without
any freeze. I think it crashes only with the VLC.

[Bug 1825212] Re: [SRU] openssl disco

2019-05-31 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hello Dimitri, or anyone else affected,

Accepted openssl into disco-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/1.1.1b-
1ubuntu2.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-disco to verification-done-disco. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-disco. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1830350] Re: System freezes repeatedly for several seconds; wifi driver related errors

2019-05-31 Thread Frank van Wensveen
@Kai-Heng Feng: I will do that.

However, I'm deadlined right now and this is my production machine, so
it'll have to wait for the paying job to be dealt with. Two questions,
though:

1. The latest linux-firmware that you directed me to (linux-
firmware-20190514.tar.gz) is obviously intended for those who know what
they're doing. It is just a matter of "make install" or is there more to
installing this version? I'm a little concerned about hosing my system,
seeing as it's my production machine.

2. Can I simply install:
linux-image-unsigned-5.2.0-050200rc2-generic_5.2.0-050200rc2.201905262130_amd64.deb
linux-modules-5.2.0-050200rc2-generic_5.2.0-050200rc2.201905262130_amd64.deb
linux-headers-5.2.0-050200rc2-generic_5.2.0-050200rc2.201905262130_amd64.deb
or are there other dependencies as well?

Please advise. Thank you!

[Bug 1824236] Re: supermin/liguestfs fails to configure network

2019-05-31 Thread Ioanna Alifieraki
Thanks Eric for reviewing the debdiffs.

To answer your question I need to take a step back and explain how the supermin
appliance
is created and used, at least to the extend I've understood.
Supermin appliances are tiny appliances similar to a virtual machines.
Libguestfs tools depend on supermin to access and modify disk images.
For example, in the test case of the bug description guestfish lunches a
supermin
appliance to mount the xenial disk image and operate on it.

The patch concerns the appliance and not the host system; it removes the
resolved
hook from the appliance tree.
When libguestfs package is built some packages are copied from the host (along
with
their dependencies) to be included in the supermin appliance.
Although systemd is not used inside the appliance it is listed into these
packages
and exists in the appliance.
This is how we end up with the resolved hook in Ubuntu.
Given that systemd is not used by the appliance removing the hook should not be
an issue.
AFAIK this hook exists only in Ubuntu, so on any other distro this patch will
try to remove a non-existing file from the appliance, it will fail silently and
execution will continue without affecting the functionality of the appliance.

I tried to do what you suggest, first checking whether we run on Ubuntu and then
remove the hook.
However, this wouldn't work because the files which tell us the distro such as
/etc/lsb-release is not present in the appliance.
The appliance copies in some files from the build host and some from the host at
runtime, however it does not copy in all of them.
It is similar to the case in LP #1650740 where the /etc/fstab file was missing.

[Bug 1831232] [NEW] Ubuntu 18.04 won't boot - failed to connect to lvmetad

2019-05-31 Thread Raphael Mankin
Public bug reported:

This bug report relates to a machine running 18.04, not the one I am
submitting the report from.

On 30 May The Software Updater prompted me to update. Included in the
update were initramfs components. I now cannot boot the machine.

After decrypting the root file system, instead of being prompted for the
pass-phrase to decrypt the swap, I get the message "cannot connect to
lvmetad: falling back to device scanning". This repeats for a while
until I am dropped into a recovery shell of some sort from which I
cannot access the root disk.

Blocker. My machine is unusable.

[Bug 1749283] Re: configured stats_temp_directory does not get created after reboot

2019-05-31 Thread Mario Splivalo
@Christian, I've uploaded test pacakages to this ppa:
https://launchpad.net/~mariosplivalo/+archive/ubuntu/lp1762492

It looks like resource-agents was erroneously added to this bug - the
end effect is the same, but this bug deals with postgres-common issue.
As the proposed patch for this bug was rejected in upstream
(https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=890427#10), and as
this indeed is the resource-agents issue I had created a bug that deals
esp with that: LP: #1762492.

I'll proceed with SRU there, if that's all right.

[Bug 1762492] Re: pgsql resource agent should check for stats_temp_directory

2019-05-31 Thread Mario Splivalo
This also does apply only to Xenial an Bionic as Cosmic and later series
have versions where upstream fixed this.
