[Bug 1713615] Re: ttf-mscorefonts-installer fails because Redirection from https to http is forbidden

Firmware versions: Precision M5520 Thunderbolt Controller: 26.01 Dell Thunderbolt Dock: 16.00 Precision 5520 System Firmware: 0.1.13.0 This has happened a few times already - as I was writing up this report - and I worked around them by either power cycling the dock (pulling the power cable - the power button on the dock powers down the laptop), or running the XHCI reset script I'm pasting below. Regarding other workarounds - at no point did I boot to MS-Windows (or at least not in the last half a year). This is the XHCI reset script I'm using - it lists XHCI devices and runs the unbind-rebind process specified in the original bug report. The next step would be a SystemD service that monitors the kernel log for the "xHCI assume dead" line and triggers the rebind automatically :-/ ``` #!/bin/bash tbtid="$(ls /sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/ | grep '[0-9]')" echo "Resetting thunderbolt bus">&2 for id in $tbtid; do echo -n $id > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/unbind done sleep 1 for id in $tbtid; do echo -n $id > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/bind done echo "Done resetting thunderbolt bus">&2 ``` -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766076 Title: USB over thunderbolt turns off every once in a while To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell-sputnik/+bug/1766076/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1776563] Re: Acer Aspire A315 IOAPIC failure on Ubuntu 18.04, kernel hangs, can't load, kernel freeze (AMD Ryzen 5/Radeon/Raven) / AMDGPU Hybrid crash
So to be clear. AT THIS DAY, there is still no fix for the A315-41 (without the G!!). My config (the best result from all my tests) : - A315-41 Ryzen5 2500U 8 cores 3600mhz - Linux ubuntu 18.04.2 - bios 1.11 configured (I didnt go to 1.13 while it seems worst on A315-41 series...) - 4.20 kernel - ivrs args (rcu_nocbs=0-7 ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2) it's usable with theses conditions (rarely freeze, all is working,11 ACPI tables loaded & few ACPI BIOS Errors in dmesg) but the main problem is the shitty battery drain (since day 1). (1h30 on linux, 3h on windows) even with low cpu usage (I can reach 3200mhz on stress tests): cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep MHz cpu MHz : 1334.217 cpu MHz : 1275.689 cpu MHz : 1282.695 cpu MHz : 1278.429 cpu MHz : 1328.024 cpu MHz : 1300.042 cpu MHz : 1480.938 cpu MHz : 1642.668 I'm using it everyday since months... never far away from my battery charger -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1776563 Title: Acer Aspire A315 IOAPIC failure on Ubuntu 18.04, kernel hangs, can't load, kernel freeze (AMD Ryzen 5/Radeon/Raven) / AMDGPU Hybrid crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/amd/+bug/1776563/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1826691] Re: fwupd hangs after 19.04 upgrade from 18.10
This is a bug in the amdgpu kernel module. When trying to access the DP aux channel it is causing system hangs. At least in upstream fwupd there is a recently committed workaround: https://github.com/hughsie/fwupd/commit/57816a7907e5f56c2136af31a4f1ae5186d87565 For now you can do the following: 1. Blacklist synapticsmst plugin in fwupd in /etc/fwupd/daemon.conf Or 2. Try a newer kernel (like 5.x) Or 3. There is an issue with this fix that makes it impossible to access a Windows 10 machine that has disabled SMB1 ( NT1 ): smb-network: g_vfs_backend_smb_browse_init: default workgroup = 'NULL' smb-network: Added new job source 0x55ebe2dd53d0 (GVfsBackendSmbBrowse) smb-network: Queued new job 0x55ebe2ddf700 (GVfsJobMount) smb-network: Error resolving “vwin10”: Temporary failure in name resolution smb-network: Forcing NT1 protocol version smb-network: do_mount - URI = smb://vwin10 smb-network: do_mount - try #0 smb-network: looking up cached server 'vwin10'\'IPC$', user 'WORKGROUP';'tester' smb-network: returning (nil) smb-network: auth_callback - anonymous pass smb-network: auth_callback - out: last_user = 'tester', last_domain = 'WORKGROUP' smb-network: looking up cached server 'vwin10'\'IPC$', user 'WORKGROUP';'tester' smb-network: returning (nil) smb-network: looking up cached server 'vwin10'\'IPC$', user 'WORKGROUP';'tester' smb-network: returning (nil) smb-network: auth_callback - anonymous pass smb-network: auth_callback - out: last_user = 'tester', last_domain = 'WORKGROUP' smb-network: looking up cached server 'vwin10'\'IPC$', user 'WORKGROUP';'tester' smb-network: returning (nil) smb-network: do_mount - [smb://vwin10; 0] dir = (nil), cancelled = 0, errno = [102] 'Network dropped connection on reset' smb-network: do_mount - (errno != EPERM && errno != EACCES), cancelled = 0, breaking smb-network: send_reply(0x55ebe2ddf700), failed=1 (Failed to retrieve share list from server: Network dropped connection on reset) My interpretation of the results: ** Despite SMBv1 being disabled on the server end of Win10 it will still broadcast its NetBIOS name to the rest if the network. ** With this fix the Linux client will correctly discover the Win10 box. ** But it is now in the NT1 ( SMBv1 ) state when it tries to access Win10 and Win10 no longer understands SMBv1. Win10 does not prompt for credentials and no negotiation of which smb protocol to use takes place so access is denied. I have two choices at this point if I still want to use a gvfs ( gio ) mount: [1] I can circumvent gvfsd-smb-browse and use Connect to Server to connect to the Win10 machine explicitly. [2] I can enable SMBv1 on the server end of Win10 and then everything works. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1778322 Title: gvfs-smb-browse can't browse samba/smb tree To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1778322/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The dpkg log shows that you are in the process of upgrading shim-signed and that you have DKMS modules installed. In order to continue using DKMS kernel modules under the new Secure Boot policy, these modules must be signed, and the key used to sign them must be enrolled in your firmware. The log shows that your kernel modules have been signed successfully, but that the package could not prompt you for a password to use in enrolling the key in your firmware. Your bug report also shows that the updates were applied through aptdaemon, which means that update-manager or another frontend should have shown you a prompt for a password. [Bug 1795292] Re: ELAN469D touch pad not working
I have an Ideapad 330s 15ARR and can confirm this bug in Ubuntu 19.04. The parameter ivrs_ioapic[32]=00:14.0 fix the problem. If any help is needed to investigate and test this, I'm glad to do so. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1795292 Title: ELAN469D touch pad not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1795292/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1826053] Re: Notify send is unreadable
No, at the moment I did the Ubuntu-bug, I did not remember the name of the package, so I used the wrong package name. However I did use notify-send to send a report of the boot time. See the next script: systemd-analyze | grep "=" | cut -c 20-80 | while read OUTPUT; do notify-send -t 6000 "Boot: $OUTPUT"; done and this display and the display of all notifications is garbled. I do not see the same garbling when I install the system on the real hardware, so it might be related to interfacing with Virtualbox.
