[Bug 1823146] Re: network namespaces error

2019-04-04 Thread YG Kumar
Hi,

One more observation. We are facing this issue with four of our compute nodes.
When I rebooted one of them,
it seems to fix the issue. Nevertheless we dont think this is a viable
solution. Hence I will submit the apport file shortly from a defective server.

[Bug 1328727]

2019-04-04 Thread matheusfillipeag
Yes I can sorta confirm the bug is in uswsusp. I removed the package
and pm-utils and used both "systemctl hibernate" and "echo disk >>
/sys/power/state" to hibernate. It seems to succeed and shuts down, I
am just not able to resume from it, which seems to be a classical
problem solved just by setting the resume swap file/partition on grub.
(which i tried and didn't work even with nvidia disabled)

Anyway uswsusp is still necessary because the default kernel
hibernation doesn't work with the proprietary nvidia drivers as long
as I know and tested.

Is there anyway I could get any workaround to this bug on my current
OS by the way?

Resuming doesn't work and still don't work.I tried setting either my
partition to /dev/sda8 or the uiid. It simply boots as if it was the
fist boot.

boot-sequence

Okay I found a way to get it working and there was also a huge mistake
on my last boot-config, the resume was commented :P
I basically followed this: https://askubuntu.com/a/1064114
but changed to:
resume=/dev/disk/by-uuid/70d967e6-ad52-4c21-baf0-01a813ccc6ac (just
the uuid wouldnt work) and this is probably the most important thing
to do.it worked!
I also set the resume variable in initramfs to my swap partition but
this might nor be so important anyway since it's automatically
detected.

I tested both systemctl hibernate and pm-hibernate, i guess they call
the same thing anyway. I attached a screenshot. Seems to be working
fine without uswsusp and with nvidia proprietary drivers!

[Bug 1818614] Re: [SRU] Various L3HA functional tests fails often

2019-04-04 Thread Edward Hope-Morley
cause of this issue:

The problem is that the following is being passed to neutron-keepalived-
state-change when spawned:

'--AGENT-root_helper_daemon=%s' %
self.agent_conf.AGENT.root_helper_daemon

And in my env root_helper_daemon is not configured or running (which is
the neutron default fwiw).

So we need to not pass that if it is not set so that neutron-keepalive-
state-change won't try to use it so e.g. right now in ps i have:

... --AGENT-root_helper=sudo /usr/bin/neutron-rootwrap
/etc/neutron/rootwrap.conf --AGENT-root_helper_daemon=None

The "None" is what is breaking it.

I have not seen the same with Ubuntu Desktops, so I wonder what is
different in your setup.

@Sushant - have you tried the same with e.g. libvirt (maybe through
virt-manager), does it behave the same on that backend?
Furthermore this might be when the UI kicks in, could you set up (on install)
an ssh client and login to log in when it is black and check what is going on
at the time?

Hi Jochen, not sure if I got that right - so let me rephrase according
to our needs:

Does that mean - and can you conform - that this unique MAC address
patch for PXE boot applies to a z14 in DPM mode with a certain level
(tbd) of firmware code?

fixed by downloading linux firmware from

then after copy files from nvidia folder to /lib/firmware/nvidia/ everything
become work.
Small story about "warninings" not even relating my videocard killing
everything around.
nvidia drivers become work, rebooting as should to, no errors i got yet. This
proves it was kernel issue. hope it's done.

No, the issue appears to be the pressure range difference between
windows (0-1023 ) and Linux (0-64000).

I've updated the patchset to scale the values to range 0-1023, which
makes gimp happy at least.

[Bug 1823186] [NEW] Add uid shifting overlay filesystem (shiftfs)

2019-04-04 Thread Seth Forshee
Public bug reported:

shiftfs transparently translates the on-disk ids of an underlaying
filesystem into valid ids in a given user namespace. This is wanted in
Ubuntu for LXD and Anbox and is targeted for inclusion in Disco.

The main advantage of shiftfs is that it provides signficiant
performance benefits as it lets us avoid recursively chowning the root
filesystem for unprivileged containers when they are created or when
their idmap is changed. This becomes very important with workloads where
we are running a huge number of containers which Anbox and LXD both are
currently doing. Other container runtimes will benefit from shiftfs in
Ubuntu as well.

Re: [Bug 1822480] Re: Scrollbar Missing in Font Selection for Insert Character Form

2019-04-04 Thread Bryce
I'm not sure what GTK theme I'm using. I did realize, however, that I'm
not using a Snap package. I had to switch to the latest .deb because
Mendeley extension integration wouldn't work with a Snap. I'll determine
more information and resubmit the bug report.

The error is reproducible on my system, otherwise.

[Bug 1762940] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 d-i install screen becomes blurry on Huawei server in EFI boot mode

2019-04-04 Thread Zhanglei Mao
summary for workaround via kernel parameter to blocker loading:

  modprobe.blacklist=hibmc_drm

**prevent load during install
To add "modprobe.blacklist=hibmc_drm" kernel parameter in grub when boot from
d-i iso (press ‘e’ key and then press F10 or ctrl+x ( those key was noticed on
the screen). It would prevent this module to load and let you install as
usual.

**prevent load for installed system
Although, we didn't find any issues for X-window during our testing. If you
want to prevent loading on a finished installed system. You can add similar
setting to /etc/default/grub for line as:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="modprobe.blacklist=hibmc_drm"
You need to update grub by "sudo grub-update" and reboot to make it be efectly.

[Bug 1821380] Re: HA-LVM can't parse vgchange_options with special characters

2019-04-04 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Heitor, or anyone else affected,

Accepted resource-agents into xenial-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resource-
agents/1:3.9.7-1ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1773397] Re: cloud-init renames interfaces at every boot

2019-04-04 Thread Ryan Harper
Matt,

This is expected behavior. MAAS provides network configuration to
cloud-init (via curtin). Cloud-init will rename interfaces that are
part of the provided network configuration to ensure the configuration
will apply. If you need to reconfigure or provide additional
configuration, you have a couple options.

1) You could modify the 50-curtin-networking.cfg with your desired changes
2) You can disable cloud-init networking and provide your own in /etc/netplan

% cat /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/50-curtin-networking.cfg
network:
  config: disabled

[Bug 1823194] [NEW] Windows share (CIFS) mounted over gvfs (by tool Files) is about 10 times slower than mounted by mount -t cifs

2019-04-04 Thread Josef Mašek
Public bug reported:

Copying data by Files says 5MB/s - when I use "Files" and I mounted
windows share (from Freenas 9.x stable) and copy to local disk (also by
Files).

When I use "old way"
in /etc/fstab is:
//192.168.x.x/public  /media/netio  cifs  noauto,guest,iocharset=utf8
mount /medi/netio
and copy files by any tool (also files), it tooks about 1,5 hours and 44 MB/s.

I am copying 170 GB and by gvfs it tooks about 9 hours - more than
working day, by mount and copy only 1,5 hour.

I have updated 18.04, packages:

In Ubuntu 16.04 gvfs and mount worked almost the same speed.

[Bug 1823076] Re: Intel NUC (8I3BEH1) wakes up immediately after suspend if Bluetooth is still enabled

2019-04-04 Thread b
I believe this issue was due to "legacy suspend" rather than "modern
suspend" selected in UEFI. After a couple suspends I am no longer seeing
the problem, but will reopen if it happens again.

[Bug 1820676] Re: Something has gone seriously wrong: import_mok_state0 failed

2019-04-04 Thread Steve Langasek
This is probably fixed in the disco dailies (and in disco beta), which
now include /EFI/BOOT/mmx64.efi on the image - a recent change. Is this
problem reproducible for you with the current image?

If it is, we'll need to reassign it somewhere other than ubiquity.

[Bug 1823076] Re: Intel NUC (8I3BEH1) wakes up immediately after suspend if Bluetooth is still enabled

2019-04-04 Thread b
Scratch that; the first couple suspend operations did work, and then
they stopped again. I'll do more testing and report back. I did rule out
mouse movement by using the hardware power switch on the mouse.

wrt #91 which snaps might those be?

If its the regular 'chromium' snap it certainly doesn't make any mention

[Bug 151440] Re: standard output: Resource temporarily unavailable

2019-04-04 Thread Kelledin
Further info:

This happens even if I start my "tail -f" process or "read -t 1" loop
within a chroot environment running a completely different distro, under
an Ubuntu 18.04 terminal. The distro in question (really a custom from-
scratch distro) has never had this problem when running as the real root
distro.

So the root cause of this problem is likely something low-level: either
the terminal emulator or the system kernel.

I found that I am connected to the same network by the 1 Gigabit copper

Maybe is issue of the network manager?
