2019-01-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-control-center -
1:3.30.2-3ubuntu1

---
gnome-control-center (1:3.30.2-3ubuntu1) disco; urgency=medium

  * Merge with debian unstable. Remaining changes:
+ debian/control.in:
  - Depend on language-selector-gnome and whoopsie-preferences
  - Depend on instead of Recommend system-config-printer
  - Recommend ibus and ubuntu-system-service
  - Suggest instead of Recommend gnome-user-share, realmd and rygel
  - Build-Depend on dh-migrations and libwhoopsie-preferences-dev
  - Don't recommend libnss-myhostname since systemd-resolved handles this
functionality
  - Bump dep on g-s-d and schema
+ Split gnome-control-center-faces to a separate package so that it can be
used by unity-control-center & recommend this
+ Install apport hook
+ debian/gnome-control-center-data.install:
  - Don't install gnome-control-center.pkla since we use
policykit-desktop-privileges instead
  - Install additional assets used by unity-control-center
+ debian/ubuntu-logo-icon.png, debian/source/include-binaries,
  debian/gnome-control-center-data.install: Include an Ubuntu logo
+ debian/gnome-control-center-data.links:
  - Link audio-speaker-center* to audio-speaker-mono* so that an
icon is shown in the test speaker panel.
+ debian/rules: Enable whoospie integration
+ Add migration script to transition from old user settings to new one.
+ debian/patches:
  - 52_region_language.patch:
Adapt region panel to use Ubuntu style regions
  - 64_restore_terminal_keyboard_shortcut.patch
 Bring back terminal shortcut
  - 70_allow_sound_above_100.patch:
Allow setting volume above 100% in the Ubuntu session
  - 71_ubuntu_dock_settings.patch
Add Dock panel for Ubuntu session
  - 99_add_lock-on-suspend.patch
Add option to lock on suspend
  - auto_quit_after_goa_add.patch
Hide window after adding an online account from another app.
  - connectivity-switch.patch
Add Connectivity Checking switch to Privacy panel
  - distro-logo.patch:
Add Ubuntu branding to Details panel
  - privacy-panel-whoopsie.patch
Support Ubuntu's whoopsie service in the Privacy panel
  - ubuntu-language-support.patch
Add Language Support button to Region & Language panel to work around
  - ubuntu-legacy-notifications.patch
Ubuntu ships compatibility names for .desktop that got renamed
upstream, those use NoDisplay but the panel doesn't respect that key,
skip known buggy entries for file-roller and nautilus
  - ubuntu-printer-support.patch
Add Advanced Printer Settings button to work around missing printer
 sharing feature
  - ubuntu-region-langpack-install.patch:
Check for missing language packs when loading region panel to pull
in packs that aren't included with the installer

[Bug 1489154] Re: NetworkManager does not start / fails to start

2019-01-15 Thread Paul White
Further to comments #7 and #16, the reported issue was due to installing
packages from -proposed. Unsure why two users have re-opened this
without comment so closing again.

Anyone still seeing an issue with network-manager should open their own
report by running

ubuntu-bug network-manager

in a terminal so that their own logs get attached to the report.

[Bug 1811777] [NEW] Fix non-working pinctrl-intel

2019-01-15 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Intel pinctrl doesn't work.
There's a WWAN card needs to use pinctrl to reset itself after firmware update.
Currently we can't use pinctrl to reset it.

[Fix]
Translate GPIO to pinctrl pins correctly.

[Test]
The WWAN reset function works once the fix is applied.

[Regression Potential]
Low. Limits to pinctrl-intel and it's in mainline for a while.

[Bug 1758243] Re: bumblebee needs configuration changes to work with nvidia-driver-390 and libglvnd0

2019-01-15 Thread Rocko
@zubozrout: I got the same error (Module 'nvidia' is not found) when I
tried it just now. I had to alter the /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf
XorgModulePath in 18.10 to get optirun to work with the nvidia 415
driver:

XorgModulePath=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg,/usr/lib/xorg/modules,/usr/lib/xorg/modules/input
X

and restart bumblebee (sudo systemctrl restart bumblebeed).

Note that the path used to start with /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/nvidia/xorg, but it looks like the module now goes just in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg:

$ ls /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg
libglxserver_nvidia.so libglxserver_nvidia.so.415.25 nvidia_drv.so

Not finding bbswitch shouldn't be such a big issue with newer kernals, because
the kernel should be able to suspend the card automatically. You could try the
latest bumblebee testing PPA
(https://launchpad.net/~bumblebee/+archive/ubuntu/testing) and put this line
into the [driver-nvidia] section of bumblebee.conf before restarting it:

AlwaysUnloadKernelDriver=true

For more details, see https://github.com/Bumblebee-
Project/Bumblebee/issues/978 and specifically https://github.com
/Bumblebee-Project/Bumblebee/issues/978#issuecomment-415332707.

There's no cosmic driver in that PPA, but the bionic one works just fine
on my cosmic.

And just to correct some typos in my comment above: the extra X
shouldn't appear after that XorgModulePath= line, and of course it's
systemctl not systemctrl for restarting the daemon.

[Bug 1810902] Re: firefox picks unpredictable window for opening new content

2019-01-15 Thread Jeff Abrahamson
I've now reproduced on a freshly rebooted ubuntu instance.

I have a firefox profile called "test" that I used. That profile
doesn't have historical windows to open on start, doesn't have any
extensions that I've added.

Launch firefox:

firefox -P test

Use C-N to open two new windows. Return to the terminal. Type "firefox
https://www.lemonde.fr/"; (for example). In my case, the window that
received the new tab was not the last one viewed.

Now choose a different firefox window, not the one that just opened a
new tab. Open a new tab, maybe close it, then return to the terminal,
repeat. I would expect the new lemonde.fr tab to open where I had just
interacted, but this isn't the case.

Possibly relevant:
  - I've configured firefox to open new tabs and note new windows when sent a
signal to open a new page.
  - I'm using the i3 window manager (so some windows maybe be unmapped due to
tiling) with a focus-follows-mouse policy.

I've also reproduced this starting firefox in safe mode:

firefox -P test --safe-mode

[Bug 1811254] Re: HP ProBook 470 G5, LED's in Hotkeys f5, f8 and f11 without function

2019-01-15 Thread kuehhe1
Hello,
my on-board search for other hotkey LED-issues led me to this bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1705586

but the solution to the file: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

to supplement the entry: options snd-hda-intel mode = mute-led-gpio

did not lead to the solution here. Presumably, the failure results from
a different ubuntu-version and/or a another kernel.

At least in Mageia Linux the width of a LibreOffice window cannot be
smaller than the length of the menu bar.

To replicate, open a LO component and reduce the width of the window. It
can be reduced to the full size of the menu (not tool) bar, but not
farther. If resizing before LO has loaded completely it is possible.
However, as soon as the menu bar appears the window is resized to
accommodate the bar.

This behaviour appears in both Mageia 6 with LO 5.4.3.2 and Cauldron
(Mageia 7) with LO 6.0.2.1.0. I have tried it in both my main DE
(Enlightenment) and IceWM with the same results.

The expected behavior, of course, is that items on the menu bar will
simply be covered over/disappear as the width is reduced which I have
seen in a Windows 7 installation.

Things that I have tried in Mageia:

1) Changing the theme: this problem appears with the Vertex and Adwaita
themes (light and dark in both)

2) Removing the Spanish language pack: the problem appears with US
English as well.

I have not tested this with Plasma or LXQt.

For English language installations this is not much of a problem, but I
have my systems set up in Spanish with the Anaphareus extension to LO
Writer. It adds itself to the menu bar and now prevents me from reducing
window size below about 60% of the screen width. I suspect there may be
other languages for this will be a problem as well.

In windows, the width can be reduced further as menu items are simply

Note that this window is considerably more narrow than the LO Writer
window because there are fewer menu items across the top. Again, the
minimum width is the length needed for all the drop-down menus plus the
"x" to close the current document.

[Bug 899013] Re: Firefox: Not using localized Google Search

2019-01-15 Thread Paul White
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. This bug was reported some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu and Firefox since that time.

Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017 and
Ubuntu 13.10 (saucy) reached end-of-life on July 17, 2014.

Does anyone still see a problem related to the one that was reported
using currently supported versions of Firefox and Ubuntu? Please let us
know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in
approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1393212]

2019-01-15 Thread Andreldm-2
Created attachment 8240
escape.diff

@bluesabre, the attached unescapes the \s sequence, but I'm not sure
this is the best approach (it does not handle \n, \t, \r, and \\). I
also tried g_strcompress but it didn't work as I expected.

xfce_appfinder_model_execute is similar to
garcon_gtk_menu_item_activate_real, but the latter also does not deal
with escaped sequences.

So I think garcon could provide the something like
garcon_menu_item_get_escaped_command so both functions would benefit.

[Bug 1811169] Re: Device firmware update does not detect AC power

2019-01-15 Thread Carroarmato0
Sorry for the delay in following up.

Based on the logs I've checked, fwupd has been behaving correctly, no
where in the various boot logs have I seen it crash or output anything
that would look like an issue.

However, I've been seeing many issues from Gnome Software.

[Bug 1807056] Re: Occasional Keyboard freeze

Yeah, I guess that could be related to keyboard freezes.

Dilip, on the affected machine can you please look in Settings >
Universal Access, scroll to the bottom so as to show all of "Typing" and
"Pointing & Clicking", and then take a screenshot of that window?

[Bug 1803360] Re: Fanless systems with DPTF shutdown before using any passive cooling device

2019-01-15 Thread Colin Ian King
The xenial version of thermald does not support the INT340X, so I'm
reluctant to back port the fix as I need to add the INT340X support in
which is quite a few changes. As this is adding extra functionality to
thermald I believe this falls outside the remit of a SRU.

[Bug 1796573] Re: Keyboard backlight not working on ubuntu 18.10, but works on 18.04

2019-01-15 Thread Pander
There are two 'versions' of this issue. One for users with
/sys/class/leds/*::kbd_backlight* and one for users missing
/sys/class/leds/*::kbd_backlight*

I do have /sys/class/leds/*::kbd_backlight* and upower 0.99.8-2ubuntu0
does not solve the issue. I can change the keyboard leds via the command
line, but not via the fn keys.

Where should that be reported upstream? With upower?

[Bug 1811169] Re: Device firmware update does not detect AC power

2019-01-15 Thread Carroarmato0
Maybe a small detail which may have an impact: the laptop has SecureBoot
enabled by default.
During the installation, the Ubuntu installer made me go about setting a
password.

After installing Virtualbox I noticed that I had to do some extra steps
into signing the compiled kernel module.

I have followed the procedures correctly, but afterwards decided to turn
off Secure Boot just to not wanting to deal with the upgrade hassle in
the future.

I don't remember between which boots I disabled SecureBoot and when I
started the firmware update successfully.

I do remember the annoyance of the firmware upgrade processes beeping
every couple of seconds during the long procedure, in an open workspace
environment. Because it's usually a bad idea to terminate a firmware
flash right in the middle I had to run away with my "ticking timebomb".
But I divert, this has nothing to do with actually setting up the
firmware upgrade through Gnome-Software/fwupd.

[Bug 1750051] Re: cron doesn't support MAILFROM

2019-01-15 Thread Gordan Krešić
It looks I accidentally changed status of this bug from "Triaged" to
"Fix Released" (I clicked "fix released" in hope it will take me to the
version in which it was fixed, but that wasn't a link, but an update
action).

I'm not sure how I even could change status, since I'm not maintainer.
I've tried, but I cannot revert this change.

Anyway, please somebody, revert status of tris to "Triaged".
