[Bug 1810638] [NEW] xflock4 does not lock session but dm-tool lock does
Public bug reported: I have been changing setup a bit and xflock4 has stopped working for me. It does nothing. I still am able to lock the session by invoking `dm- tool lock`. Looking into `xflock4`, I see it is a shell script. I do not see it trying to invoke `dm-tool lock`. I guess it should be extended to try it as well beside the three already present other tools invocations. ** Affects: xfce4-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: cosmic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1810638 Title: xflock4 does not lock session but dm-tool lock does To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-session/+bug/1810638/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

On the other hand, Evolution has an elegant way to allow the user to select multiple languages for spell-checking: 1. In Evolution's options, we have a list of all the installed dictionaries. We then select which dictionaries we want, using checkboxes; 2. When we are composing an e-mail using spell-check, Evolution uses all the selected dictionaries to find a match for words; 3. When we right-click on a marked word, we get a menu for each of the selected languages, each with their own suggestions. This would be a simple, yet great addition to Thunderbird, since many of us users are multilingual and use terms in another language (mostly English) in our normal writing. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure Thunderbird to use Portuguese spell-checking 2. Write an e-mail in Portuguese with some English words Actual Results: See the English words marked by the spell-checker Expected Results: 1. Configure Thunderbird to use Portuguese and English spell-checking 2. Write an e-mail in Portuguese with some English words 3. Hi, This issue seems not to be only a warning / developer specific log message. An "HP Elite x2 1013 G3" has no working "hp-wmi" sysfs entries at all. As error code 0x05 indicates "invalid parameters" my guess would be that another variant of the "hp_wmi_bios_2009_later()" would be required or that the WMI methods have been removed. The fallback path, for the case when rbd_user is configured in cinder.conf and rbd_secret_uuid is not configured in cinder.conf, results in the mismatched use of cinder rbd_user with nova rbd_secret_uuid. This fixes that fallback path to use nova rbd_user from nova.conf with rbd_secret_uuid from nova.conf. [1] See commit f2d27f6a8afb62815fb6a885bd4f8ae4ed287fd3 Thanks to David Ames for this fix. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time. Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) reached end-of-life on May 9, 2013. Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported in a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do and in which version of Ubuntu otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time. Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better. [Bug 1705437] Re: Upstream 'column' is newer than bsdmainutils'
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I haven't verified the details of the versions of "column" as you describe, but it does seem that both bsdmainutils and util-linux are capable of shipping it and so it is disabled from util-linux at the moment. This is derived directly from Debian packaging. I think it is unlikely that Ubuntu will accept the maintenance cost of a divergence from Debian on this point since this difference only affects a minority of Ubuntu users. If you'd like to see this changed, I think the most productive path forward would be to ask/convince the Debian maintainers of these packages to make this change in Debian. This would best be done by filing a bug in Debian for this. See https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting for information on how to do this. Please see also https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=908975#10 I'm going to set this bug to Won't Fix to Ubuntu to make it clear that I don't believe there will be any intention by Ubuntu developers to make this change. If other Ubuntu developers disagree then we can reopen the bug. Note that if the change is made in Debian then the change will happen in Ubuntu by default regardless of the bug status in Ubuntu (and the status should then be changed). ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #908975 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=908975 ** Changed in: util-linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix ** Changed in: util-linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1705437 Title: Upstream 'column' is newer than bsdmainutils' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/util-linux/+bug/1705437/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1810636] Re: QCA6174 doesn't utilise btcoex - Ubuntu 18 Bluetooth Audio Skip/Stutter/Delay WiFi bandwidth conflict Dell XPS 9570
@kaihengfeng I did try the latest version of the QCA6174 4.4.1 firmware which matches the firmware in linux-firmware v176, and the result is the same. I replaced firmware-6 file in the /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0 folder to test this. [1] https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k- firmware/blob/master/QCA6174/hw3.0/4.4.1/firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00128-QCARMSWPZ-1 ** Description changed: I'm running Linux 4.20.0-042000-generic #201812232030 x64 on a Dell XPS 9570 with QCA6174 chipset, and have had the problem with Bluetooth audio choppiness ever since I have owned this laptop. This problem has persisted for me with previous kernels. If I disable wifi and use media on machine locally, the problem doesn't occur. Note: I've reverted back v4.18.0-13-generic and reproduced the problem for the apport-collect report. It started with Ubuntu 18.04 and continues with 18.10. It's particularly noticeable when the when saturating the WLAN connection with throughput, i.e. copying a large file sequentially across from a samba share, but also streaming video online results in the audio progressively delaying over-time. Re-establishing the Bluetooth audio sync restores the sync, but slowly creeps out again. I've upgraded my linux-firmware package to disco 176 to match v4.20 kernel drivers ref: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux- firmware/1.176 The ath10k_core driver that supports this device has a reference for btcoex: ref https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath10k/core.c?h=v4.20#n2598 It's possible that the Bluetooth component firmware is not supporting or communicating btcoex compatibility, but this is starting to reach the edge of my ability to diagnose the problem. This btcoex support in ath9k has resolved/improved the Bluetooth - bandwidth problem as shown in + bandwidth problem for older Qualcomm chipsets as shown in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1746164 As a troubleshooting step, I've also tried the very latest firmware-6 file from, but I'm continuing to experience the problem ref: https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware/tree/master/QCA6174/hw3.0/4.4.1 --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.10-0ubuntu13.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: berg 2871 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.10 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-07-02 (187 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180426) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Bug 1810664] [NEW] helper app broken
Public bug reported: The helper app from the webext-browserpass package, located at /usr/lib/browserpass/browserpass, does not work with the current version of the browser extension. Unfortuantely I haven't been able to build it from source to debug. I originally thought it has to do with an apparmor profile, but disabling apparmor has no effect. I was able to strace it, and replicate the behaviour in a terminal (I copy&pasted the json data to stdin of browserpass). The error I'm getting is "[Browserpass] 2019/01/06 11:31:32 Invalid action", which I see in syslog. Upgrading the package webext-browserpass to the one from disco solves the problem, as does replacing the binary to the one from debian sid. It looks to me like the protocol changed between 2.0.11 and 2.0.22. Looking at the github source, the "match_domain" command which the current browser extensions are using, isn't yet available in 2.0.11. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1810665/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1810619] Re: Sleep mode doesn't work
This is because this change gets included: commit 684bec1092b6991ff2a7751e8a763898576eb5c2 Author: Daniel Drake Date: Mon Oct 1 15:55:22 2018 -0700 Input: i8042 - enable keyboard wakeups by default when s2idle is used Previously, on typical consumer laptops, pressing a key on the keyboard when the system is in suspend would cause it to wake up (default or unconditional behaviour). This happens because the EC generates a SCI interrupt in this scenario. That is no longer true on modern laptops based on Intel WhiskeyLake, including Acer Swift SF314-55G, Asus UX333FA, Asus UX433FN and Asus UX533FD. We confirmed with Asus EC engineers that the "Modern Standby" design has been modified so that the EC no longer generates a SCI in this case; the keyboard controller itself should be used for wakeup. In order to retain the standard behaviour of being able to use the keyboard to wake up the system, enable serio wakeups by default on platforms that are using s2idle. This change makes the keyboard wakeup behavior in aligned with other major OS (i.e. Windows and macOS). This can be changed to the "old" behavior by the following: # echo disabled > /sys/bus/serio/devices/serio0/power/wakeup -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1810619 Title: Sleep mode doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1810619/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1804744] Re: Restoring from new location does not find backup files
Eero I filed the original report. To me your comment seems only critical and not helpful, especially in a report where a fix is being released. If someone uses the same location for backup this problem doesn't appear to exist. I try to file bug reports as I encounter them, along with any workaround, as a way of being helpful and contributing to something I believe in, they are not always fixed but if you have an urgent issue that needs attention you have plenty of options. Have you discussed on Ubuntu forums? filed a separate report(s) for issues you face? posted a bounty? Use/purchase a different program? Developing software takes money and/or time. It is unfair as well as unhelpful to stand back and complain without contributing either money or time to support. Asking people to work for free for the most part is unreasonable. People deserve compensation for their work for food, clothing, shelter, etc. Apart from this interface bug the backup process has been fast and reliable for me. I have relied on it on several occasions, and have yet to find a program with the same power, reliability, flexibility and ease of use. I use primarily Elementary OS which includes no backup software by default. I don't like its default music player but that change to a preferred software takes me less than a minute. If you don't like deja dup an up-to-date forum post exploring/testing preferred alternatives or outlining your specific unmet needs is more helpful and potentially more constructive. [Bug 1810450] Re: LTS dist upgrade failure from 16.04 to 18.04
Figured out that I just had to install some packages (libgfortran4 and cpp-7 for my case) required by the hold back packages (listed in Apt log).. .. and finally the Bionic Beaver could be brought back to life. I also did this before because I ran through the same error: https://askubuntu.com/questions/943463/e-problem-executing-scripts-apt- updatepost-invoke-success-error-during-apt-ge .. but not sure if it is related. ** Summary changed: - LTS dist upgrade failure from 16.04 to 18.04 + [SOLVED] LTS dist upgrade failure from 16.04 to 18.04 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1810450 Title: [SOLVED] LTS dist upgrade failure from 16.04 to 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1810450/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
