[Bug 1802582] Re: Inconsistency in xfce4-mime-settings

2018-11-12 Thread Adalbert Hanßen
"specific to the version in 16.04": That may be possible.

Fortunately I happened to find the workaround how to change a MIME
setting despite xfce4-mime-settings refuses to alter some of the
settings by first associating the file browser to a file type and then
my specific version of LO. So the next one who gets trapped hopefully
finds this discussion and even more hopefully, he/she finds my
workaround (which is a bit hard to find since my whole report is in the
attachment because I could not include screenshots into my initial
posting).

It looks like the settings are stored per user in his home-directory's
.config path, specifically in ~/.config/mimeapps.list. Would it be
possible to change things here using a text editor?

Unfortunately xfce4-mime-settings does not allow to search or even
search/replace so changing the associations is a tedious job. At least
one can sort the list by the second column such that all LO entries are
close to each other.

[Bug 1799206] Re: SRU: update python3.6 to the new minor release 3.6.7

2018-11-12 Thread Matthias Klose
** Description changed:

SRU: update python3.6 to the new minor release 3.6.7

See LP: #1792143 for the rationale, going one minor release ahead (and
planning to do 3.6.8 in January, the last source release from the 3.6
  branch).

  [Impact]
Provide the branch updates for the stable 3.6 branch in the LTS release.

  [Regression Potential]
There is regression potential, but this version is in use in 18.10, which
didn't show regressions.

  [Test Case]
No regressions in the Python 3.6 test suite, no regressions in the autopkg
tests
+
+ Failing autopkg tests:
+ - http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/p/python-asdf/bionic/armhf
+failed before, flaky autopkg tests history, now passes in disco.
+ - snapcraft: amd64 and i386 try to download some rust installation,
+which then fails to build some downloaded code. This doesn't look
+like a reliable test.
+ - python-mechanicalsoup: unrelated, fails in both 2.7 and 3.6.
+Fixed in cosmic, filed LP: #1802835 for a fix anyway.
+ - http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/l/lxd/bionic/arm64
+doesn't look like a regression in the autopkg test history.
+pinged the lxd maintainers, but no response yet.
+ - ocrmypdf has a hint: adconrad:unblock ocrmypdf/6.1.2-1ubuntu1
+This does not seem to be a regression, although fixed in disco via
+a new upstream version 6.2.5.

[Bug 1711337] Re: Firefox crashes at start on armv7L after 55.0.1 update

2018-11-12 Thread James Donald
>From what I can tell the maintainers have no intention of spending time
supporting Ubuntu 16.04 or older. Even when Xenial was the current LTS
they weren't responding here, and now that 18.04 has been out for 5
month there's even less motivation to handle older distros.

Having built Firefox 59 from source I think I get some of the reasons
why they'd consider this a heavy support task. It's hard to get gcc and
Rust to play nice on old cross-compiling toolchains, not to mention that
sketchy assembly code for XPCOM. From a practical perspective, user
workarounds can go in this order:

1) Use the latest firefox:armhf on 18.04 Bionic, if that's what you're
running or you're open to upgrading.

2) Earlier distros like 16.04 or Debian Stretch: Install the latest
firefox:arm64 if your system supports AArch64.

3) If armhf is the only option and you're on 16.04, you can still set up
the firefox 18.04 deb package from Launchpad. Download its dependencies
like libstdc++ and following my instructions in #117 to place the
appropriate runtime-linked libraries.

Relying on armhf builds from Bionic in the worst case 3): this avoids
having someone to maintain the whole build flow for Xenial and Trusty.

I'm only speaking for Firefox here, but if it all comes down to crashes
in libxul.so then maybe much of this is sufficient for Thunderbird too.

[Bug 1798081] Re: ceph got slow request because of primary osd drop messages

2018-11-12 Thread dongdong tao
** Description changed:

- ceph version 0.80.5
- the reason that primary osd drop the secondary osd's subop reply message is
because of
- a bug that the message sequence number is truncated to unsigned 32 bit from
unsigned 64 bit.
+ [Impact]
+ Ceph from ubuntu trusty, the version is 0.80.*.
+ The bug is that when a message seq number has exceeds the max value of
unsigned 32 bit which is 4294967295, the unsigned 64 bit seq number will be
truncated to unsigned 32 bit. But the seq number is supposed to increase one by
one, and if messenger got a message which has an old seq number, it will just
drop it.

- the bug is already reported in the upstream:
https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/16122
- and fixed at https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/9456
+ when it dropped one sub_op/sub_op reply message, then this operation will not
be able to succeed, it will become a slow request.
+ cluster will suffering from slow requests when it hits this bug.
+ when it drops other message, might lead to other bad situation ( like droping
osd_ping message might cause the osd down).

- it's already backported to Jewel, but not to harmer
+ [Test case]
+ Deploy a trusty ceph cluster
+ Two ways to reproduce, A will take at least 2 months to reproduce, B will be
much easier:
+ A.
+ 1. ceph daemon osd. set config debug_ms 10
+ 2. wait for the seq number to increasing to max value of unsigned 32 bit
value which is 4294967295, we can get the current seq number by doing
+ command "grep "reader got message" /var/log/ceph/ceph-osd/ceph-osd.id.log"
+ 3. you will finally see the messenger will drop message and see below log
+ "reader got old message 0 <= 4294967295 0x7fa6854a3e00
osd_sub_op_reply(client.125216.1:7850657018 3.dc

discarding "
+
+ B.
+ 1. ceph daemon osd. set config debug_ms 10
+ 2. gdb attach
+ 3. set a breakpoint at function Pipe::writer and set a command "set
out_seq=4294967295" to this breakpoint
+ 4. continue the process, when it hit the breakpoint multiple times (osd
number - 1), we can exit the gdb.
+ 5. grep other osds log and see if you find message dropping message like :
+ "reader got old message 0 <= 4294967295 0x7fa6854a3e00
osd_sub_op_reply(client.125216.1:7850657018 3.dc
e24410dc/rb.0.103e.238e1f29.0027/head//3 [] ondisk, result = 0) v2,
discarding "
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ None
+
+ [Original Bug Report]
+
+ When in_seq is 0x, Pipe::reader expects the incoming message's
sequence to be 0x1. But m->get_seq() return 0. So the incoming message
gets dropped.

[Bug 710262] Re: build-rdeps should support ubuntu distributions and components

2018-11-12 Thread 殷啟聰 | Kai-Chung Yan
For now I can use `--origin Ubuntu --distribution disco` to grep the
`main` archive, but there is no way to include other archive such as
`multiverse` or `universe`.

Would be great to add a new option for including user-defined
"components". Oddly there is one for exclusion, i.e. `--exclude-
component`.

[Bug 1430480] Re: Gedit - css

2018-11-12 Thread Paul White
Piotr,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some
time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.
Your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.

It would help us a lot if you could test on a currently supported Ubuntu
version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the
updated logs by running only once in a terminal:

apport-collect 1430480

and then change the status of the bug back to "New".

Please add any additional information that you think might be relevant.
Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that
we can close the bug report. If we do not hear from you this bug report
will expire in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1789356] Re: Dark purple (noise) background flashes up briefly during the login animation since Yaru was introduced

2018-11-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yes, I have now tested the proposed fix on two separate fresh
installations of cosmic. One HP and one Lenovo laptop. In both cases
they show a weird multi-stop gradient after the fix is installed. Looks
like the colour goes up-down-up-down instead of just down.

[Bug 1800260] Re: [snap] close, minimize, maximize buttons look funny

2018-11-12 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Thanks for the report Jeff. I can reliably observe the problem in a bionic VM.
I also tested the snap in the candidate channel (based on core18), and there
are also issues with the custom rendering of the window title bar and borders,
although they are different (only the close button is visible, minimize and
maximize can be hovered and clicked but they are not rendered properly).

[Bug 1697229] Re: GNOME extensions deactivated after lock unlock

2018-11-12 Thread Nick Clay
I've experienced possibly this bug intermittently since moving to
Manjaro Gnome with Gnome 3.30.2. In my case it's not all the extensions
that are reset, but two that I've set different to default: Places
status indicator and Topicons plus. Furthermore, rebooting usually puts
it right; it's the locking and unlocking that deactivates those
extensions on my system.

[Bug 1787405] Re: [19.04 FEAT] Guest-dedicated Crypto Adapters

2018-11-12 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
While the target is 18.04 SRU Policy implies this has to be available in all
later releases to avoid upgrade regressions.
OTOH we planned libvirt 5.0 and qemu 3.1 which both are released in late
December/early January for 19.04 instead of starting now (partially on your
request for those versions if you remember).

That would mean I could only SRU (for real) this ~"late January".
Until then I could of course work on it in advance and provide a testing PPA
for your verification.
Since the Kernel is currently only available in a PPA as well - and the next
Kernel SRU cycle (which is a prerequisite to it anyway) will finalize late
December - there is not much to gain by pulling qemu/libvirt forward IMHO.

If that is not early enough I'd have to work on pushing it to 19.04
almost right now which will imply other things have to drop from this
cycles plan. That is very unfortunate and needs some acks which I'll
start to ask for - but really please consider if late January would just
be enough to avoid this major hickup. So would late January be ok for
you?

TL;DR:
- this is very costly to do asap
- what is the latest date this can land in 18.04?

[Bug 1798081] Re: ceph got slow request because of primary osd drop messages

2018-11-12 Thread dongdong tao
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
Ceph from ubuntu trusty, the version is 0.80.*.
The bug is that when a message seq number has exceeds the max value of
unsigned 32 bit which is 4294967295, the unsigned 64 bit seq number will be
truncated to unsigned 32 bit. But the seq number is supposed to increase one by
one, and if messenger got a message which has an old seq number, it will just
drop it.

when it dropped one sub_op/sub_op reply message, then this operation will not
be able to succeed, it will become a slow request.
cluster will suffering from slow requests when it hits this bug.
when it drops other message, might lead to other bad situation ( like droping
osd_ping message might cause the osd down).

  [Test case]
  Deploy a trusty ceph cluster
Two ways to reproduce, A will take at least 2 months to reproduce, B will be
much easier:
  A.
  1. ceph daemon osd. set config debug_ms 10
  2. wait for the seq number to increasing to max value of unsigned 32 bit
value which is 4294967295, we can get the current seq number by doing
command "grep "reader got message" /var/log/ceph/ceph-osd/ceph-osd.id.log"
  3. you will finally see the messenger will drop message and see below log
  "reader got old message 0 <= 4294967295 0x7fa6854a3e00
osd_sub_op_reply(client.125216.1:7850657018 3.dc
e24410dc/rb.0.103e.238e1f29.0027/head//3 [] ondisk, result = 0) v2,
discarding "

  B.
  1. ceph daemon osd. set config debug_ms 10
  2. gdb attach
  3. set a breakpoint at function Pipe::writer and set a command "set
out_seq=4294967295" to this breakpoint
  4. continue the process, when it hit the breakpoint multiple times (osd
number - 1), we can exit the gdb.
- 5. grep other osds log and see if you find message dropping message like :
+ 5. grep other osds log and see if you can find message dropping log like :
  "reader got old message 0 <= 4294967295 0x7fa6854a3e00
osd_sub_op_reply(client.125216.1:7850657018 3.dc
e24410dc/rb.0.103e.238e1f29.0027/head//3 [] ondisk, result = 0) v2,
discarding "

  [Regression Potential]
  None

  [Original Bug Report]
  When in_seq is 0x, Pipe::reader expects the incoming message's
sequence to be 0x1. But m->get_seq() return 0. So the incoming message
gets dropped.

I even set up a PPA where a patched version of qt is available.

Dear ubuntu maintainers, please include this patch into the official

reasons (with this bug it is very likely that people waste paper) this

Kernel source: /drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/si_dpm.c line 2985:

  instead of

  max_sclk = 103000;

Why is that? I changed it and rebuilt the kernel, and I can say that
there are absolutely no issues when using the 1030MHz clock, **which is the
default frequency this GPU is designed for**.

[Bug 1802283] Re: system freezes

2018-11-12 Thread jnns
After my laptop worked fine yesterday for the whole day, it crashed
again a few minutes ago. I have been using it for about 1.5h and the
open programs where gnome-shell, thunderbird, firefox and gnome-
terminal. It froze while browsing gitlab.com. It didn't respond to
MagicSysRq keys.

The log file from my previous session (the latest crash) is added.

#17 works. In order to keep the package manager from updating the
package to the broken version it helps to run "sudo apt-mark hold ttf-
mscorefonts-installer" after.
