[Bug 1794178] Re: Install failure

2018-09-26 Thread Juhani Numminen
This does not seem to be a problem in the libxext package. The error
message indicates that apt-get failed to download the file from a mirror
server "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx". Please report the problem to the administrator
of "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx". You can try to use an official Ubuntu archive
mirror to see if that solves the problem.

I've sponsored the upload (and so cannot accept it into -proposed) with
a new changelog entry, because that's easier. Thanks!

[Bug 1791373] Re: [FFe] Update gnome-terminal to 3.30.0 and vte to 0.54

2018-09-26 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Hi guys,

- Due to a change in vte-0.54 around the child-exited signal,
unfortunately lxterminal (LP: #1794440) and sakura (LP: #1790317) now
crash when a tab is closed by clicking on the X button. Luckily, a fix
is available for both of them. Could you please make sure to apply those
fixes?

- I know that normally you update to the .1 minor release, I'd just like
to point out that vte-0.54.1 fixes a segfault around encoding switches,
so please indeed make sure not to miss this update.

Thanks!

[Bug 1794318] Re: unable to boot after installing vagrant

2018-09-26 Thread Jeroen
After installing vagrant it did a update-initramfs, which I presume,
broke booting from kernel 4.15.0-34-generic when I switched back, using
the grub menu, to a previous kernel 4.15.0-29-generic I could still
boot without problems

Lowering because it is not reproducible. It seems that first boot takes
a lot of time but eventually gdm will start.

[Bug 1794461] [NEW] DRI Conf cannot find AMDGPU DRI options

2018-09-26 Thread rued...@gmail.com
Public bug reported:

When using the new AMDGPU Mesa drivers, DRIConf states that there is no
DRI supporting drivers installed.

It apparently is not linked to look for the AMDGPU mesa drivers, only
the Radeon ones. Now that the AMDGPU drivers no longer depend on the
Radeon drivers, this presents an issue.

The reported errors to console are below:
[code]
Screen "0" is not direct rendering capable.
Driver "vmwgfx" is not installed or does not support configuration.
Driver "vmwgfx" is not installed or does not support configuration.
Driver "radeonsi" is not installed or does not support configuration.
[code]

The GUI error popup is attached.

I am using Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS and DRIConf 0.9.1-4

[Bug 1790249] Re: desktop sharing won't start after upgrading to 18.04

2018-09-26 Thread Martha Bourgois
Managed to boot back to prior kernel (I got some help).

Problem is still happening.

In fact, after the icon in the launchbar stopped pulsating and
disappeared the system came up syaing that an error occurred. I hope
you got it, but the title was "unity-control-center crashed with signal
5 in g_settings_bind_with_mapping()"

And, as an aside, the mouse wasn't clicking, but we could still use the
keyboard.

[Bug 1794315] Re: Error launching host dialog: 'NoneType' object has no attribute '__getitem__'

2018-09-26 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
_hostinfo is initialized as None

connection.py:__init__:236 self._hostinfo = None

The code that fails has a check on backend is open to be sure it is initialized.
And the init of that value is at
connection.py:_tick:1331 self._hostinfo = self._backend.getInfo()

This polls for new objects regularly.
There might be a race of the backend being opened, but no updates yet completed.
That might be more likely for a more remote connection that is slow, but local
ssh sounds fast.

A safety check to not be None might be worth to be added just to be
sure.

[Bug 1794219] Re: [MIR] ledmon

2018-09-26 Thread Woodrow Shen
** Description changed:

+ == Requirements ==
+
  [Availability]
  Currently in universe.
+ Package in LP: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ledmon
+ Upstream: https://github.com/intel/ledmon

  [Rationale]
1.OEM projects needs to include ledmon for VROC suport (LP: #1759225)
2.Intel still maintains upstream for that (LP: #1668126)
  3.Dependencies already in main.

  [Security]
+ No security issues exposed so far. We may need to rely on Intel to be aware
of upstream commits for security fixes.

  [Quality Assurance]
+ 1.No debconf questions
+ 2.No outstanding bugs
+ 3.I can help to make sure the consistency for status of important bugs in
Debian's/Ubuntu's, and upstream's bug (on github).
+ 4.Ledmon only supports Intel related storage controller (e.g. AHCI/iSCSI/VMD
controller)
+ 5.No test suite shipped with ledmon
+ 6.No dependencies with obsolete or demoted packages
+
+ [UI standards]
+ 1.This is a CLI tool/daemon service. It has normal CLI style short help and
man pages. (man ledmon/ledctl)
+ 2.No desktop file required as it is a backend tool.

  [Dependencies]
+ build-depends: perl (main), libsgutils2-dev (main), libudev-dev (main)
+ binary-depends: openipmi (main)

  [Standards Compliance]
+ The package should meet the FHS and Debian Policy standards.

  [Maintenance]
- Package ownership TBD.
+ Package owning team: The foundation team (we're discussed this recently and
give them a notify)
+ Debian package maintained by Daniel Jared Dominguez (but seems he didn't
maintain the latest one: currently the version 0.90 on upstream and it's 0.79-2
on debian)
+
+ [Background Information]
+ ledmon and ledctl are userspace tools designed to control storage enclosure
LEDs. The user must have root privileges to use these tools.
+
+ These tools use the SGPIO and SES-2 protocols to monitor and control
+ LEDs. They been verified to work with Intel(R) storage controllers (i.e.
+ the Intel(R) AHCI controller) and have not been tested with storage
+ controllers of other vendors (especially SAS/SCSI controllers).
+
+ For backplane enclosures attached to ISCI controllers, support is
+ limited to Intel(R) Intelligent Backplanes.
+
+ == Security checks ==
+ 1.http://cve.mitre.org/cve/search_cve_list.html: Search in the National
Vulnerability Database using the package as a keyword
+ * There are 0 CVE entries that match your search.
+
+ 2.Check OSS security mailing list (feed
'site:www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security ' into search engine)
+ * No security issue found
+
+ 3.Ubuntu CVE Tracker
+ http://people.ubuntu.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/main.htm
+ * No
+ http://people.ubuntu.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/universe.html
+ * No
+ http://people.ubuntu.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/partner.html
+ * No
+
+ 4.Check for security relevant binaries. If any are present, this requires a
more in-depth security review.
+ * Executables which have the suid or sgid bit set.
+ No
+ * Executables in /sbin, /usr/sbin.
+ Yes
+ * Packages which install services / daemons (/etc/init.d/*, /etc/init/*,
/lib/systemd/system/*)
+ No
+ * Packages which open privileged ports (ports < 1024).
+ No
+ * Add-ons and plugins to security-sensitive software (filters, scanners, UI

[Bug 1794476] [NEW] curl-config uses krb5-config, but libcurl4-openssl-dev only Suggests libkrb5-dev

2018-09-26 Thread Mekk
Public bug reported:

Attempt to run curl-config on the system, on which libkrb5-dev is not
installed, results in error

[Bug 1794219] Re: [MIR] ledmon

2018-09-26 Thread Woodrow Shen
Hi Christian,

As we're discussing with foundation team about ledmon, the reason behind
this MIR is OEM base image would include ledmon. However the foundation
team suggests we may need to file a MIR request and they will make a
decision for figuring out the resource of maintenance.

For me, I'm willing to apply MOTU now and to see if ledmon still needs
to be maintained in universe or not.

[Bug 1794478] [NEW] Automatic ipv4 not assigned to bond interface is manual ipv6 is assigned to it

2018-09-26 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

---Problem Description---
Bond interface with automatic ipv4 mode and manual ipv6 mode fails to get
automatic ipv4 assigned from dhcp server.

---uname output---

Machine Type = s390x

---Debugger---
A debugger is not configured

---Steps to Reproduce---
When user configures ipv4 as automatic and ipv6 as manual for bond interface
automatic ipv4 is not getting assigned.
Looks like dhcp client request for ipv4 is not done to dhcp server after maunal
ipv6 is assigned quickly to bond interface

This issue will not happen in below cases:
1)with ipv4 automatic and ipv6 manual configuration for ethernet or vlan
interface.
2)with ipv4 automatic and ipv6 automatic configuration for bond interface
3)with ipv4 automatic and ipv6 disabled configuration for bond interface

Configuration:

[Bug 1794477] [NEW] [Azure] Accelerated networking broken in 18.10 daily

2018-09-26 Thread Chris Valean
Public bug reported:

While testing Ubuntu 18.10 daily from cloud-images repo, on Azure, we
discovered that accelerated networking wasn’t working inside the VM.
No VF shows up inside the VM and lspci didn’t show any Mellanox drivers in use.
We tested the daily build on Hyper-V also, but there the Mellanox VF is
functional, with the same mlx4 drivers.

To give more details about this:
• No mellanox logs are showing up in dmesg or syslog.
• Modinfo mlx4_core/mlx4_en finds the module, but lsmod doesn’t show it
as loaded, although Accelerated Networking is enabled for the Azure VM, so this
should happen transparently.
•   Modprobe  -r mlx4_core && modprobe mlx4_core is giving 0 exit code, but
nothing really happens. And no Mellanox messages are logged in dmesg/syslog.

[Bug 1794219] Re: [MIR] ledmon

2018-09-26 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
@Woodrow: please realize that the Debian Maintainer Daniel Jared
Dominguez is @Dell.com and Dell stopped at Version 0.79 - Intel pushed
it forward to 0.90 of today, but I'd assume Dell has no business to
pushing this further anymore. You had xnox do the update for you, but
this might have to repeat to stay updated.

[Bug 1794219] Re: [MIR] ledmon

2018-09-26 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
Package quality, dependencies and all else LGTM and review is rather easy as it
is a relative small codebase ~9kloc.
I ran a few code checkers and they only found minor things not worth to bother.
Also the packaging seems fine since the major update by xnox.

Expecting the subscription by the foundations Team to happen there isn't much
more that would stop the package from the MIR Teams POV.
Under the constraint that this is completed before this is over we can already
kick off the next step which is the security review.

Given this has no ports, sockets or anything like it open the attack surface is
rather small.
But it is the security Team that has to check that -> assigning to security.

be fixed soon too. I will mark this report as a duplicate.
