[Bug 1783358] Re: Xenial linux 4.15.0-29-generic kernel panic.

2018-07-25 Thread Sergey
I tested kernels from mainline. The 4.13.16 [0] is working. The 4.14 [1]
and 4.14.0-rc1 [2] has kernel panic.

I will try to do stuff with git and "make kernel".

The label in the "About" dialog in the "Help" menu contains non-

any disadvantage. Only the center label with the link to the homepage

[Bug 1759787] Re: Very inaccurate TSC clocksource with kernel 4.13 on selected CPUs

2018-07-25 Thread Paul Gear
Using an HP ProLiant DL380 Gen10 (Intel Xeon Gold 5118 CPU @ 2.30GHz) I
tested the following kernels (on xenial):

4.13.0-37-generic - FAIL https://pastebin.canonical.com/p/RbTzC3jgjm/
4.13.0-39-generic - PASS
4.13.0-45-generic - PASS
4.15.0-29-generic - PASS

So it seems this was fixed in 4.13.0-38 or 4.13.0-39.

[Bug 1783476] Re: package php-tcpdf 6.2.13+dfsg-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile subprocess returned error exit status 2

2018-07-25 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1779063] Re: Occasional kernel panic on shutdown in ext4 code (dquot_drop)

2018-07-25 Thread Maik Merten via ubuntu-bugs
It seems one of the RAM modules in that machine degraded over time -
while memtest86 found no problems in the past, now errors are discovered
within seconds.

It's unclear when the module became faulty, but it's quite plausible
that the observed kernel panics were caused by this and that there's no
actual software bug involved.

I'll replace the system RAM and revert back to the normal Ubuntu kernel.
I think this issue can be closed - if the same symptoms reassert
themselves, things can be revisited.

2018-07-25 Thread Paul White
Gabriele, we are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review
all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time
ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Presumably this problem was a one time occurrence and/or is no longer an
issue? Can this bug report now be closed?

If we do not hear from you the bug report will close itself in
approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

Okay found out the issue, its with the format of the proxy settings as
Fred mentioned.. Thank you Fred.

May be, we have to fix this in longer run, the installer "should not
allow/ should warn" the user to proceed with wrong proxy format.

What we tried now is by giving "http://10.10.10.3:3128"; and installation
proceeds (Ubuntu 18.04.1 installation is complete and success)..
reducing the severity to normal.

Nigel,

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Presumably this problem was a one time occurrence and/or is no longer an
issue? Can this bug report now be closed?

If we do not hear from you the bug report will close itself in
approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1783514] [NEW] firefox password field not accessable in popup dialog

2018-07-25 Thread Michael Kuster
Public bug reported:

if you open the popup dialog "My Sunrise" on this site:
https://www.sunrise.ch/en/residential/welcome-page.html

you are not able to access the password field. Not by clicking and not
with tab-key. on the given expample site you can check the box "Show
password", the you can enter the password. But if you don't have this
option, you can't login.

Another example is the Firefox addon "Windscribe". You have to login
with popup dialog and it's not possible to enter the password.

[Bug 1783056] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2018-07-25 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From frede...@fr.ibm.com 2018-07-25 05:08 EDT---
Hi,
nice to hear.
Also the installer says it in the logs that your proxy setting is wrong :
---
Jul 11 07:14:45 in-target: Failed to fetch
http://us.ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/pool/main/l/linux/linux-headers-4.15.0-20_4.15.0-20.21_all.deb
Unsupported proxy configured: 10.10.10.3://3128
--

And the installer explicitly describe the format to use during the installation
(I attached a screenshot.
So I don't see any issue here now.

Re: [Bug 1782888] Re: trackpad not recognised by kernel

2018-07-25 Thread Mike Hall
Thanks Joseph.

I have tried to do as you suggest, but hit a problem installing
4.18.0-041800rc6. Two of the downloads install, but the third fails and
my Linux skills are insufficient to work out what to do next. If you are
able to make a suggestion I'm happy to have another go.

If so, here is what I know:

The first thing to check is that the packages I attempted to install
were the correct ones:
linux-headers-4.18.0-041800rc6_4.18.0-041800rc6.201807221830_all.deb
linux-headers-4.18.0-041800rc6-generic_4.18.0-041800rc6.201807221830_amd64.deb
linux-modules-4.18.0-041800rc6-generic_4.18.0-041800rc6.201807221830_amd64.deb

One of the headers failed to install, with an error message implicating
Nvidia, see make.log from /var/dkms/nvidia/390.48/build/ attached.

A summary of the /boot folder is attached (grub18.txt) showing what has
installed. You can also see that the kernels currently being provided by
Linux Mint (LM) are a good deal earlier eg 4.15.0-29.

Also of relevance might be two sections of the Mint 19 release notes,
about trackpads and about freezes on booting due, in the case of this
box, to the Nvidia graphics card:
https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_tara_cinnamon.php

Once the first LM installation is done, when LM release new kernels the
Nvidia issue does not occur.

This is a live system used eg to maintain my PERL server-side website
applications, so I need to take some care.

What should I try next?

Mike
