[Bug 1782206] Re: KVM enable SnowRidge Accelerator Interfacing Architecture (AIA)

2018-07-20 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
Hi,
title says KVM, but the bug is only against xen so far.

Will this need an "qemu (ubuntu)" and/or "linux (ubuntu)" task as well?

- kernel 4.20 is listed so I assume the latter.
- Comments do not mention Qemu yet

[Bug 1782709] [NEW] Updating systemd kills network on bionic

2018-07-20 Thread Uli.Heller
Public bug reported:

I do have an ubuntu bionic server installation without a graphical interface.
The server
has two active network adapters, both connected to the internet. One is used
for outgoing
internet traffic, the other for incoming. The incoming adapter lives on a
public network segment
(something like 88.236.133.104/29). I do have multiple servers within this
segment.

Typically, I update the server regularly, meaning:

* ssh to the incoming adapter: ssh 88.236.133.108
* apt-get update
* apt-get upgrade
* apt-get dist-upgrade
* apt-get clean
* reboot

It used to work ok.

BUT: Today, "apt-get upgrade" seem to take really long when updating systemd.
After a could of minutes, I realized that the ssh session became inactive. I
couldn't type
into it, I had to abort it via ~. .

* ssh from the internet to the incoming adapter was not working anymore - ssh
88.236.133.108
* ssh via another server within the public network segment worked
* ssh 88.236.133.106 -> ssh 88.236.133.108
* After running "netplan apply" everything was fine again

Here my netplan configuration (I changed the ip addresses):

network:
  version: 2
  renderer: networkd
  ethernets:
eno1:
  dhcp4: yes
eno2:
  dhcp4: no
  addresses: [88.236.133.108/29]
  #gateway4: 88.236.133.105
  routes:
   - to: 0.0.0.0/0
 via: 88.236.133.105
 table: 120
  routing-policy:
   - from: 88.236.133.108/32
 table: 120
   - to: 88.236.133.108/32
 table: 120

Unfortunately, I don't have the console output avalable anymore.
Shall I provide additional info?

Best regards, Uli

My motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth 990FX/GEN3 R2.0, which uses the
SB950 south bridge chip to provide USB. I've also tested a Gigabyte GA-

problem.

So, how's it going with merging that patch from the mailing list ?

[Bug 1735944] Re: cannot route IPv6 addresses

2018-07-20 Thread Daniel Axtens
Hmm, that's really odd. I'm sorry you haven't had a solution yet.

I have a set of test containers to test ipv6 networking. My netplan
config for a static IPv6 address is https://github.com/daxtens/ipv6
-config-demos/blob/master/static-networkd/60-ipv6.yaml and it looks a
lot like yours. It can definitely get past the next hop.

If I enter that container and dump the same info as you have:

root@static-networkd:~# ip -6 route
fd8f:1d7d:b141::/64 dev eth0 proto kernel metric 256 pref medium
fe80::/64 dev eth0 proto kernel metric 256 pref medium
default via fd8f:1d7d:b141::1 dev eth0 proto static metric 1024 pref medium

Interestingly here I'm missing all the nexthop stuff you have...

root@static-networkd:~# route -6
Kernel IPv6 routing table
DestinationNext Hop Flag Met Ref Use If
fd8f:1d7d:b141::/64[::]   U256 2 5 eth0
fe80::/64  [::]   U256 1 0 eth0
[::]/0 _gateway   UG   1024 218 eth0
ip6-localhost/128  [::]   Un   0   3 4 lo
static-networkd/128[::]   Un   0   320 eth0
static-networkd/128[::]   Un   0   3 8 eth0
ip6-mcastprefix/8  [::]   U256 276 eth0
[::]/0 [::]   !n   -1  1 1 lo

And again here I don't have a bunch of routes you do.

I wonder how you're ending up with the nexthop stuff. Do you have any
virtual networking stuff on your host? VMs? openvswitch? Anything else
that would mess with routes?

Regards,
Daniel

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.

If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers
to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it
helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

2018-07-20 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
Hi,
from your log:

Starting amavisd: head: cannot open '/etc/mailname' for reading: No such file
or directory
  The value of variable $myhostname is "paul-Aspire-One-753", but should have
been
  a fully qualified domain name; perhaps uname(3) did not provide such.
  You must explicitly assign a FQDN of this host to variable $myhostname
  in /etc/amavis/conf.d/05-node_id, or fix what uname(3) provides as a host's
  network name!

This package needs configuration of your hosts FQDN and tries to guess from
your hostname.
That works fine if the hostname is correct, but can't work otherwise.

Yours' isn't a FQDN so it runs into this issue and tells you rather clearly.
You have to fix the configuration to be valid, then the service will be able to
run and also from that on upgrade.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  I do have an ubuntu bionic server installation without a graphical interface.
The server
  has two active network adapters, both connected to the internet. One is used
for outgoing
  internet traffic, the other for incoming. The incoming adapter lives on a
public network segment
  (something like 88.236.133.104/29). I do have multiple servers within this
segment.

  Typically, I update the server regularly, meaning:

  * ssh to the incoming adapter: ssh 88.236.133.108
  * apt-get update
  * apt-get upgrade
  * apt-get dist-upgrade
  * apt-get clean
  * reboot

  * ssh 88.236.133.106 -> ssh 88.236.133.108
  * After running "netplan apply" everything was fine again

  Here my netplan configuration (I changed the ip addresses):

  network:
version: 2
renderer: networkd
ethernets:
  eno1:
dhcp4: yes
  eno2:
dhcp4: no
addresses: [88.236.133.108/29]
#gateway4: 88.236.133.105
routes:
 - to: 0.0.0.0/0
   via: 88.236.133.105
   table: 120
routing-policy:
 - from: 88.236.133.108/32
   table: 120
 - to: 88.236.133.108/32
   table: 120

  Unfortunately, I don't have the console output avalable anymore.
  Shall I provide additional info?

  Best regards, Uli

[Bug 1779969] Re: PhpMyAdmin bundled version isn't comptabilble with PHP 7.2 bundled version

2018-07-20 Thread Christian Löpke via ubuntu-bugs
This bug is fixed in PHPMyAdmin Release 4.8.2 and would be resolved in
updating the package.

Refer: https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/issues/13932

Would be nice, if the package gets an update soon, because currently the
shipped version is broken (or at least very annoying) and nobody wants
to install a custom package or manually change code of the installation
for this.

You are right, by default there is no configuration file.
And from your log:
 fancontrol[14322]: Loading configuration from /etc/fancontrol ...
 fancontrol[14322]: Some mandatory settings missing, please check your config
file!

The reason this doesn't fail usually is that the service has
  ConditionPathExists=/etc/fancontrol

So default install = no problem because the file just doesn't exist.
If the file got created then the problem is a misconfiguration of that file.

If your's is blank as you mention then that is the issue, but I don't
see what would have placed it as a blank file. If you'd just remove the
file things should work again (with the service being disabled until you
provide a good config).

[Bug 1782209] Re: KVM SnowRidge Split-lock disable

Oh mass update fail, this one actually is against kvm.
Which is the wrong package since several years actually.

Fixing that and setting qemu.
But it leaves the questions:
- need kernel changes/task as well as 4.20 is listed?
- will this be in qemu 2.13, if not can you provide a list of commits?

I examined /var/log/dpkg.log. There is no pause in there. The complete
upgrade process looks pretty normal to my. So I guess it is just a
network configuration issue during the upgrade that prevented my

[Bug 1665285] Re: Missing bookmarks

2018-07-20 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some
time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.
Your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.

It would help us a lot if you could test on a currently supported Ubuntu
version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the
updated logs by running only once in a terminal:

apport-collect 1665285

and add any additional information that you think relevant.
Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that
we can close the report. If we do not hear from you the bug report will
close itself in approximately two months time.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1782719] [NEW] Duplex not working upon update to 2.2.7-1ubuntu2.1

2018-07-20 Thread Damian Frick
Public bug reported:

I am using ubuntu 18.04 LTS. After an automatic update of libcups (and
related) from 2.2.7-1ubuntu2 to 2.2.7-1ubuntu2.1 I have been unable to
print double-sided, e.g., printing a pdf from evince using the standard
printer dialog. I have not changed the printer or printer drivers during
this and before everything was working fine.

I suspect that the option that is used for duplex printing is has changed and
is wrong now. It seems to be "DuplexNoTumble", see
$ lpoptions -l  | grep -i duplex
Duplex/Duplex: *None DuplexNoTumble DuplexTumble

After using evince and the standard printer dialog to issue a print job where I
selected "Long Edge (standard)" for the "Two Sided" option, I see the following
in the cups error log:
$ cat /var/log/cups/error_log | grep -i duplex

[Bug 1782722] [NEW] MATE themes like Ambiant-MATE and Green-Submarine should have xfwm4 support

2018-07-20 Thread Prahlad Yeri
Public bug reported:

MATE themes like Ambiant-MATE and Green-Submarine are great but they
don't work on XFCE (at least on 16.04 LTS) as they don't have the xfwm4
configuration folder without which the window title bars and minimized
window status backgrounds cannot be themed on XFCE.

For proper interoperability of these themes on XFCE, I hereby appeal to
Ubuntu-MATE team to add the xfwm4 configuration to their themes. As a
precedent, such a configuration already exists in one of their themes
called "menta", so it should be possible to do the same for other
popular themes such as Ambiant-MATE, Radiant-MATE, Blue-Submarine,
Green-Submarine, Black-MATE, Blue-Menta, etc.

in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit

[Bug 1782711] Re: installation failed

2018-07-20 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We noticed that you were installing the LTS version of
Ubuntu using an older version of the installation media. The latest
point release of 16.04 is 16.04.3. Please try installing from that
version of the installation media and see if that resolves your issue.
Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1782724] [NEW] package nplan 0.36.3 failed to install/upgrade: problemi con le dipendenze - lasciato non configurato

2018-07-20 Thread Danilo Luchini
Public bug reported:

trying to install different software system report a Python error.
Also running apt-get autoremove (in superuser mode) reports error "The python3
package is not yet configured."

I did not have any particular problems while running Ubuntu.
Sometimes the system freezes when I analyze 3D maps and I have other
applications open. I think it happens when I fill the RAM. (I tried to wait
over an hour to verify that it was not just slow swap)

[Bug 1782723] Re: dnotify in ubuntu_stress_smoke_test failed on B-KVM

2018-07-20 Thread Colin Ian King
This also occurs in 4.15.0-1012-kvm so it is NOT a regression.

Config has:

# CONFIG_DNOTIFY is not set

so the failure is because DNOTIFY has be disables, which I believe is an
issue, this functionality should be enabled IMHO.

[Bug 1662345] Re: smbios parameter settings not visible in guest

2018-07-20 Thread Louis Bouchard
Hello,
I have revived this bug and assigned myself to it.

It turns out that -smbios type=1,manufacturer=Scaleway is required by us
to trigger cloud-init's DataSourceScaleway on our infrastructure.

And, moreover, the functionality works as designed on Bionic :

# dmidecode | head
# dmidecode 3.1
Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs.
SMBIOS 3.0.0 present.
Table at 0xBC03.

Handle 0x0100, DMI type 1, 27 bytes
System Information
Manufacturer: Scaleway
Product Name: KVM Virtual Machine
Version: 1.0
# lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Release:18.04
Codename:   bionic
# arch
aarch64

So I am going to work on trying to identify what was added to version
1:2.11+dfsg-1ubuntu7.4 to make it work as expected.

be related to kernel.

Verified that there is only one missing which usually needs manual

[Bug 1782275] Re: Conflict between resolvconf and systemd-resolved dhclient scripts

2018-07-20 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Given that it is a conffile, you can remove the one you do not need.

Why do you want to use resolvconf, instead of resolved? I was expecting
for people to have /etc/resolv.conf to point at either
/run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf or
/run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf (as needed) and have nameservers
updated via that.

[Bug 1779438] Re: Cannot resolve names using systemd-resolved stub resolver

2018-07-20 Thread Byron
This is a recent install, so haven't installed much apart from my usual
programs, vim, editors, etc...
I would expect to be able to ping by hostname without installing additional
software such as resolver libraries.

Here is my /etc/nsswitch.conf

`cat /etc/nsswitch.conf`
# /etc/nsswitch.conf
#
# Example configuration of GNU Name Service Switch functionality.
# If you have the `glibc-doc-reference' and `info' packages installed, try:
# `info libc "Name Service Switch"' for information about this file.

passwd: compat systemd
group:  compat systemd
shadow: compat
gshadow:files

hosts:  files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns
networks:   files

protocols:  db files
services:   db files
ethers: db files
rpc:db files

netgroup:   nis

Do additional libraries need installing from a full base install?

[Bug 1764723] Re: gnome-initial-setup says that Livepatch is "all set" even if enabling is still in progress.

2018-07-20 Thread Andrea Azzarone
** Description changed:

+ * Impact
+
+ - Livepatch can fail to install and the user will never be notified
+ about the error.
+
+ * Test case
+ - Install ubuntu 18.04
+ - Wait for the wizard to be displayed
+ - Activate livepatch in the livepatch page
+ - Disconnect the system from the internet
+
+ -> After a while an error message dialog should be displayed
+
+ * Regression potential
+ Gnome-initial-setup fails to properly close (make sure that after a while the
process is no longer running).
+
+ * Original bug
+
  In Livepatch page we show the message "You're all set: Livepatch is now
  on" even if this is not true. Enabling livepatch requires several time-
  steps (e.g. installing the snap, getting the token, etc) that can fail
  at any time. We should update the message and show a notification in
  case of failure.
