[Bug 1779912] Re: [needs-packaging] Please sync openfortivpn from debian sid (unstable)

2018-07-04 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

Looks like openfortivpn has been synced automatically and is available
in Ubuntu 18.04 (and the upcoming 18.10). So that parts appears fixed?

When it comes to backporting, I've marked xenial-backports as also
affected, since that's the project for 16.04 backports. You can take a
look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports for more information.

[Bug 1778811] Re: live-build doesn't work with multi-part initrds

2018-07-04 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Adam, or anyone else affected,

Accepted live-build into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/live-
build/3.0~a57-1ubuntu25.6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1779865] Re: pkcsconf -t failure in syslog: Module failed to create a socket. Verify that the slot management daemon is running

2018-07-04 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From christian.r...@de.ibm.com 2018-07-04 03:18 EDT---
The problem turned out to be unreproducible on a current 4.15.0-20-generic
based Ubuntu 18.04. The (dist-)upgrade process from a latest and greatest
Ubuntu 16.04.04 to 18.04 still needs to be repeated, but is a different issue
anyway and will not be tracked or commented on here.

Closing.

[Bug 1780039] [NEW] Upgrade libegl1 to 1.0.0+git20180308-3ubuntu1 present in Cosmic

2018-07-04 Thread Sandeep
Public bug reported:

Currently Bionic contains 1.0.0-2ubuntu2 version of libegl1.

There is a bug in libEGL.so.1 due to which a Khronos CTS failure happens
on ARM platform.

Cosmic has already upgraded to 1.0.0+git20180308-3ubuntu1 version of
libegl1 where this bug is fixed.

Details of fix in liglvnd-EGL code:
https://github.com/NVIDIA/libglvnd/issues/151
Failing Khronos CTS test: dEQP-EGL.functional.negative_api.make_current, which
runs in bot OpenGL and OpenGL-ES CTS runs.

Without above test passing, we can't submit logs to Khronos for the CTS
run.

Filing this bug to get libegl1 upgraded to cosmic's version in bionic repos.
We've verified locally on ARM platform, there are no issues present due to this
upgrade.

Thanks.

[Bug 1778817] Re: release upgrade from xenial to bionic desktop: screen locks itself, password to unlock fails

2018-07-04 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
I reproduced the second part of the problem (screen locks and fails to
unlock) after upgrading from 16.04 to 18.04 and before restarting the
machine (finish the upgrade, close the upgrader and wait until the
screen saver goes off)

The following lines are displayed in the journal:
juil. 04 09:27:07 ubuntu compiz[1692]: PAM unable to dlopen(pam_unix.so):
/lib/security/pam_unix.so: Ne peut ouvrir le fichier d'objet partagé: Aucun

[Bug 1779827] Re: failure to boot with linux-image-4.15.0-24-generic

2018-07-04 Thread staedtler-przyborski
As no trick mentioned here worked ...

I made a fresh install and updated everything except the kernel (which
remains at 4.15.0-20). And my Lenovo T 520 works again.

So indeed kernel 4.15.0-24 seems the culprit. No glue why booting to
previous installed kernels doesn't work either as soon 4.15.0-24 is
installed.

It looks like Unity sessions are in a similar situation so maybe the
code should be change to keep the inhibitor for those as well (maybe
poping up a dialog explaining that screen lock is not going to work
until reboot if that's less confusing to users?). That's a different
case than the one reported here though

I was in the process of trying to test the upstream kernel but I don't
think I did it completely. However, the problem seems to no longer
exist. Could you please check to ensure that the problem no longer seems
to continue.

[Bug 1460255] Re: paste method freezes autokey-gtk in Ubuntu 14.04

2018-07-04 Thread Thomas
The »TypeError: set_text() takes exactly 3 arguments (2 given)«
was caused by a GTK2 to GTK3 port and is fixed for the general case in
https://github.com/autokey/autokey/commit/572316bd17f4c45dc38ca149962ca176865a2f2a
 and fully in
https://github.com/autokey/autokey/commit/d6efe4edfb81eeb2300f8a67f210d845a56188f9
This bug triggered another bug (https://github.com/autokey/autokey/issues/72)
in broken X11 keyboard grabbing logic (symptom: keyboard input lock), which is
fixed in
https://github.com/autokey/autokey/commit/0afdb9770f614ecb9f848b03b180d537cfe975bc

Those commits are part of version 0.95.1, resolving this issue when
Ubuntu packages version >= 0.95.1.

[Bug 1780037] Re: package libgcrypt20 1.8.1-4ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile subprocess returned error exit status 2

2018-07-04 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1780056] [NEW] pdf print issue

2018-07-04 Thread Bart Goeman
Public bug reported:

I have a several pdfs (all invoices from the same sender) that do not print
correctly from evince.
On screen it renders fine.
It seems a whole background layer (not sure if the pdf uses layers) is missing.

The print is wrong when I print to my printer (HP M426fdn, a laser
multifunctional on the local network), but also when I print-to-file
(pdf format) from evince

When I print to my printer using other means (FoxitReader or directly
with lpr) the output is correct.

I will attach the original pdf and the output from print-to-file pdf format.
E.g. the header at the top right is dropped by evince

[Bug 1779961] Re: Bionic minimal image boot hang with linux-image-4.15.0-1012-kvm kernel

2018-07-04 Thread Michael Vogt
I suspect this is entropy related, i.e. something in the entropy
handling changed which causes things that use random numbers during the
boot to slow down. The snapd team is also affected by this bug (snapd
startup during boot became slow but when people press keys, move mouse
things get better).

[Bug 1737750] Re: nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 304.137-0ubuntu2 ADT test failure with linux 4.15.0-1.2 [error: implicit declaration of function ‘init_timer’]

2018-07-04 Thread Attila K
Downgrading the kernel is sufficient too, aka if you boot with kernel
version 4.13.0 through GRUB, and then remove everything related to
4.15.0, the driver will work fine.

There was a 340 issue with the 4.13 kernel update too back in January,
and it was fixed in a couple of days
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1741671), I'm hopeful here too, as this
affects a LTS release now...

With kdump-tools version 1:1.6.3-2ubuntu1 on bionic,

[Bug 1780062] [NEW] Cloud-init causes potentially huge boot delays with 4.15 kernels

2018-07-04 Thread Juerg Haefliger
Public bug reported:

Newer 4.15 kernels contain the following fix for CVE-2018-1108:
  43838a23a05fb ("random: fix crng_ready() test")

This causes cloud-init to stall for a potentially long time during boot
(waiting for entropy I presume). Google reported boot delays of 75
minutes.

I've tracked this down to the following import in templater.py which causes the
delay:
from jinja2 import Template as JTemplate

Which is called when cc_update_etc_hosts is imported.

[Bug 1780067] [NEW] zfcp: fix infinite iteration on ERP ready list

2018-07-04 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

Please backport:
commit fa89adba1941e4f3b213399b81732a5c12fd9131
scsi: zfcp: fix infinite iteration on ERP ready list

zfcp_erp_adapter_reopen() schedules blocking of all of the adapter's
rports via zfcp_scsi_schedule_rports_block() and enqueues a reopen
adapter ERP action via zfcp_erp_action_enqueue(). Both are separately
processed asynchronously and concurrently.

Blocking of rports is done in a kworker by zfcp_scsi_rport_work(). It
calls zfcp_scsi_rport_block(), which then traces a DBF REC "scpdely" via
zfcp_dbf_rec_trig(). zfcp_dbf_rec_trig() acquires the DBF REC spin lock
and then iterates with list_for_each() over the adapter's ERP ready list
without holding the ERP lock. This opens a race window in which the
current list entry can be moved to another list, causing list_for_each()
to iterate forever on the wrong list, as the erp_ready_head is never
encountered as terminal condition.

Meanwhile the ERP action can be processed in the ERP thread by
zfcp_erp_thread(). It calls zfcp_erp_strategy(), which acquires the ERP
lock and then calls zfcp_erp_action_to_running() to move the ERP action
from the ready to the running list. zfcp_erp_action_to_running() can
move the ERP action using list_move() just during the aforementioned
race window. It then traces a REC RUN "erator1" via zfcp_dbf_rec_run().
zfcp_dbf_rec_run() tries to acquire the DBF REC spin lock. If this is
held by the infinitely looping kworker, it effectively spins forever.

Example Sequence Diagram:

ProcessERP Thread rport_work

zfcp_erp_adapter_block()
zfcp_scsi_schedule_rports_block()

|  list_move()  current entry
|ready to running
| zfcp_dbf_rec_run() endless loop over running
|  zfcp_dbf_rec_run_lvl()
| lock DBF REC spins forever

Any adapter recovery can trigger this, such as setting the device offline
or reboot.

V4.9 commit 4eeaa4f3f1d6 ("zfcp: close window with unblocked rport
during rport gone") introduced additional tracing of (un)blocking of
rports. It missed that the adapter->erp_lock must be held when calling
zfcp_dbf_rec_trig().

This fix uses the approach formerly introduced by commit aa0fec62391c
("[SCSI] zfcp: Fix sparse warning by providing new entry in dbf") that got
later removed by commit ae0904f60fab ("[SCSI] zfcp: Redesign of the debug
tracing for recovery actions.").

Introduce zfcp_dbf_rec_trig_lock(), a wrapper for zfcp_dbf_rec_trig() that
acquires and releases the adapter->erp_lock for read.

[Bug 1752772] Re: r8169 ethernet card don't work after returning from suspension

2018-07-04 Thread Jan Rathmann
For me the update makes things worse instead of better.

Before installing the updated kernel, it only happened from time to time
that the ethernet driver had locked up after suspend (and thus needed to
be reseted by removing and reloading the module via modprobe).

With the updated linux-image-4.15.0-24-generic installed, it seems to
happen _every_ time when I susped that the driver locks up (and needs to
be manually reseted). That's quite uncomfortably when the PC is
suspended a few times a day and has to be manually fixed by modprobe
every time.

Kind regards,
Jan

[Bug 1779678] Re: deadlocks in copy_net_ns

2018-07-04 Thread Christian Brauner
I've been running a 4.18 kernel for a long time now and I haven't been
able to reproduce the bug. Please note however, that this bug was a
race. Meaning, it is easily possible that the race has just gotten so
unlikely that it doesn't matter anymore. I doubt it however, since a)
there's a proper explanation for the prior bug and b) the locking has
changed completely upstream.

[Bug 1779827] Re: failure to boot with linux-image-4.15.0-24-generic

2018-07-04 Thread Yaroslav
Same issue on the workstation, few hours spent to fix it by reinstalling gnome,
gdm3, apparmor, loading previous kernel, switching to lightdm. Nothing helps,
complete reinstall. Very frustrating, because need to return to
configuration/installing apps for next the few weeks.
With Ubuntu you should get used to always have the drive with recent version
near you in case of something go wrong. Because from my experience it is faster
to reinstall than fix such issues.

[Bug 1581208] Re: "Choose file from local disk" window keeps selecting with rectangle selection

2018-07-04 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu and Firefox since that time you
reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the
updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently
supported Ubuntu version.

When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated
logs by running only once:

apport-collect 1581208

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Incomplete

[Bug 1779827] Re: failure to boot with linux-image-4.15.0-24-generic

2018-07-04 Thread Adrian
I'm not sure if my issue is related:

I upgraded to 4.15.0-24 yesterday (no other updates) and this morning I
get a blank screen on boot that sits there indefinitely (i.e. minutes).

To fix this, I CTRL-ALT-F6 to get another tty, which immediately show
up. This however seems to trigger some event, as the graphical login
appears (displaces) my tty6 terminal without my intervention. So I can
reliably get the graphical login back by "playing" with tty6.

One thing I noticed during boot was the `nvidia-persistenced` (using
Nvidia's proprietary 390 drivers) service doing a dozen start/stops in
quick succession. This doesn't show up every time though, and the blank
screen that follows prevents me from seeing more.

`snapd.service` and `unbound.service` appear as the main offenders, but
I'm not sure what's cause and effect here.

Booting with the prior 4.15.0-23 kernel works fine, as before.
