[Bug 1762127] [NEW] Ubuntu stuck in loop at boot after upgrade from 17.10 to 18.04

2018-04-08 Thread Hadrien
Public bug reported:

* I did a do-release-upgrade -d
* After the upgrade was done, I rebooted

Result:

My computer was stuck in a boot loop, showing alternatively a black
screen, a text log and a set of random pixels.

Here is a GIF of the loop: https://imgur.com/zGGTzma

As I had to make my computer work again I had to reinstal Ubuntu from a
18.04 live USB stick, so I'm not sure if I could get information from
the previous installation. Reinstalling made my computer work fine with
18.04. I just need to reinstall all my applications.

I had an external Mesa installation on 17.10 from Padoka Stable PPA. May
it be related? At the moment, Mesa version from Padoka Stable is
18.0.0~*~padoka0, whereas after a 18.04 reinstall it is 18.0.0-rc5

Note: I tried to boot in safe mode with graphics, but it does not start, I get
this error in the console:
/usr/share/xdiagnose/failsafeXinit: line 194 : [: == : unary operator expected

What happens on my system is that libavcodec-extra57 is installed

[Bug 1716813] Re: When using vaapi in a wayland session a gl renderer launch icon appears

2018-04-08 Thread Ryan
It does this with GNOME Web too, it seems (even still in Ubuntu 18.04).

It's not _too_ annoying if you're just watching Youtube or something,
but if you scroll down a Facebook tab it gets pretty obnoxious, because
it creates a new "OpenGL Renderer" entry on the dock each time you
scroll past a video of something, and doesn't go away until you close
the tab.

[Bug 1761264] Re: changelog.Debian.gz is a dangling symlink when libavcodec-extra57 is installed

2018-04-08 Thread James Cowgill
Thanks that makes more sense.

The bug is in Ubuntu's pkgbinarymangler which is responsible for
symlinking these changelogs. It seems to think that libavcodec57 is a
dependency of ffmpeg, but in fact libavcodec57 is part of a set of
alternatives where libavcodec-extra57 could be installed instead. I
think pkgbinarymangler should ignore any dependencies part of an
alternative set (ie containing a "|" character) which should fix this.

** Also affects: pkgbinarymangler (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided

** Summary changed:

- changelog.Debian.gz is a dangling symlink when libavcodec-extra57 is

What I did was to find the bcmwl related tasks("ps aux|grep bcmwl") and
I found there was one something like "rmmod []bcmwl" blocked.

I killed it(sudo kill -9 [pid] and I could continue. Now I have upgrade
the system.

I think it happened to me by canceling the installation of restricted
drivers.

[Bug 1760910] Re: Gdebi crash in Ubuntu Studio 18.04

2018-04-08 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

Do you see any error-messages when the program closes, for instance if
you run `gdebi-gtk` from a terminal? I found bug 1756238 where gdebi
failed to work on Ubuntu bionic. It might be a duplicate of that, but
on the other hand some of the comments indicate that issue has been
resolved...

[Bug 1753546] Re: tortoisehg package on 18.04 depends on mercurial (< 4.5~) but mercurial package is 4.5-1ubuntu1 (from -proposed)

2018-04-08 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
I've just verified that tortoisehg 4.5.2-0ubuntu1 and 4.5.3-1ubuntu2 are
possible to install on Ubuntu bionic. Marking as fix released for the
mercurial task as well. (Leaving the Debian task, since based on the
comment above this was fixed directly in Ubuntu, but I assume they will
soon get a similat package update)

[Bug 1751820] Re: Teach dh_translations how to deal with meson

I successfully tested the modified dh_translations on libgweather, which

[Bug 1762027] Re: unmet dependencies

2018-04-08 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

Could you please include some more details on when this issue occurs?
Does it happen when attempting to install xserver-xorg-video-intel, or
some other package which depends on it? Could you also try running `sudo
apt update` to make sure the package list (inlcuding available versions)
is up to date.

[Bug 1761995] Re: Error Formatting luks device

2018-04-08 Thread N1ck 7h0m4d4k15
This also affects the case when you want to Open an encrypted disk/usb that was
LUKS encrypted on another Linux system (Debian/Ubuntu).
It cannot Open it - Mount it, returning a similar error.

The function 'bd_crypto_luks_open_blob' called, but not implemented!
(udisks-error-quark,0)

This only affects the GUI version. You can format or mount a LUKS
disk/usb from the command line.

[Bug 1603815] Re: after updating to ubuntu 16.04 the network manager is unable to connect me to the wifi network. I can see the network, but once I introduce the password, it asks me for the password

2018-04-08 Thread openfred
Strangely enough, no issue on Fedora 27 or Debian 9 Jessie nor Debian 10 Buster.
Really strange, considering Ubuntu 18.04 is based on Debian 10 !!!

After comparing many files, it appears that the 2 last files of
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf have been added on Ubuntu !

Debian 10:
cat /NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
[main]
plugins=ifupdown,keyfile

[ifupdown]
managed=false

Ubuntu 18.04:
cat /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
[main]
plugins=ifupdown,keyfile

[ifupdown]
managed=false

[device]
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no

I removed this 2 files, and now Wifi works perfectly. The wifi
passphrase is accepted, and even going to sleep mode and back is fine.

--
I would strongly recommend to modify /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager in
package network-manager to remove the 2 last lines. In fact this file should
not be modified by Ubuntu and kept as in Debian.
Is it possible to do it in Ubuntu before 18.04 LTS to be launched ???
--

It seems this 2 lines have been added due to bug 1681513:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1681513
As reported here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/905283/wifi-issue-with-ubuntu-17-04

By the way, file NetworkManager.conf is empty in Fedora.

Cheers

Actually in my case it doesn't just spam the log but prevents the app

GTK2 (env SWT_GTK3=0, due to a HiDPI bug with GTK3):

[Bug 1762163] [NEW] [Kubuntu 18.04]Device notifier pretends it cannot mount usb device while actually mounting it

2018-04-08 Thread YAFU
Public bug reported:

There is a Fix proposed from comment 36

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370975

I have this problem when trying to mount any removable device or internal disk
partition, either from Dolphin or from removable device manager in panel. It
always shows an error message when you try to mount the device first time, the
device is not opened in Dolphin but it is mounted correctly. Then at the second
attempt it does not show error message and device is opened in Dolphin.
The messages that I get in Spanish:
>From Dolphin:
"Ocurrió un error al acceder a «Carpeta personal», el sistema respondió: El
dispositivo ya está montado: Device /dev/sdb3 is already mounted at
`/media/yafu/PART 1'."

>From removable device manager in panel a window message titled "Error
Cliente KIO ?" and "Formato de URL erroneo" message.

By the way, in a recent Dolphin update, when you mount partitions from
the small folder/home icon to the left of the Dolphin address bar
(that icon only appears if you have Panels > Places disabled), every
time you Mount a device from there that menu is filled enormously with
"Umount <>" items. Really annoying.

===
Related messages in English:
"Error KIO Client" with the text "malformed URL"

"An error occurred while accessing 'Home', the system responded: The
device is already mounted: Device /dev/sdl1 is already mounted at
'/media/myuser/disk title'.

[Bug 1758726] Re: [Kubuntu 18.04] Blinks in title bar of the Brisa window decorator

2018-04-08 Thread YAFU
This problem I was having after waking up from suspend to RAM. Every time I
wake up the machine from sleeping to RAM I get the following message:
"Gestor de ventanas KWin
Desktop effects were restarted due to a graphics reset"

Related but in 16.04
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kwin/+bug/1578083

Apparently currently blinks/flickers on decorator windows are gone, but
I still get that message every time I wake up from suspend to RAM.
