[Bug 1762127] [NEW] Ubuntu stuck in loop at boot after upgrade from 17.10 to 18.04
Public bug reported: * I did a do-release-upgrade -d * After the upgrade was done, I rebooted Result: My computer was stuck in a boot loop, showing alternatively a black screen, a text log and a set of random pixels. Here is a GIF of the loop: https://imgur.com/zGGTzma As I had to make my computer work again I had to reinstal Ubuntu from a 18.04 live USB stick, so I'm not sure if I could get information from the previous installation. Reinstalling made my computer work fine with 18.04. I just need to reinstall all my applications. I had an external Mesa installation on 17.10 from Padoka Stable PPA. May it be related? At the moment, Mesa version from Padoka Stable is 18.0.0~*~padoka0, whereas after a 18.04 reinstall it is 18.0.0-rc5 Note: I tried to boot in safe mode with graphics, but it does not start, I get this error in the console: /usr/share/xdiagnose/failsafeXinit: line 194 : [: == : unary operator expected ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: ubuntu-release-upgrader-core 1:18.04.13 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-13.14-generic 4.15.10 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-13-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CrashDB: ubuntu CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sun Apr 8 08:56:54 2018 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-04-07 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Alpha amd64 (20180403) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: ubuntu-release-upgrader Symptom: release-upgrade UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic dist-upgrade wayland-session -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1762127 Title: Ubuntu stuck in loop at boot after upgrade from 17.10 to 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1762127/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1761264] Re: changelog.Debian.gz is a dangling symlink when libavcodec-extra57 is installed
Thanks that makes more sense. The bug is in Ubuntu's pkgbinarymangler which is responsible for symlinking these changelogs. It seems to think that libavcodec57 is a dependency of ffmpeg, but in fact libavcodec57 is part of a set of alternatives where libavcodec-extra57 could be installed instead. I think pkgbinarymangler should ignore any dependencies part of an alternative set (ie containing a "|" character) which should fix this. ** Also affects: pkgbinarymangler (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - changelog.Debian.gz is a dangling symlink when libavcodec-extra57 is installed + pkgbinarymanager: symlink_doc should ignore dependencies part of an alternative set -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761264 Title: pkgbinarymanager: symlink_doc should ignore dependencies part of an alternative set To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ffmpeg/+bug/1761264/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1603815] Re: after updating to ubuntu 16.04 the network manager is unable to connect me to the wifi network. I can see the network, but once I introduce the password, it asks me for the password
Strangely enough, no issue on Fedora 27 or Debian 9 Jessie nor Debian 10 Buster. Really strange, considering Ubuntu 18.04 is based on Debian 10 !!! After comparing many files, it appears that the 2 last files of /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf have been added on Ubuntu ! Debian 10: cat /NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf [main] plugins=ifupdown, keyfile [ifupdown] managed=false Ubuntu 18.04: cat /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf [main] plugins=ifupdown, keyfile [ifupdown] managed=false [device] wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no I removed this 2 files, and now Wifi works perfectly. The wifi passphrase is accepted, and even going to sleep mode and back is fine. -- I would strongly recommend to modify /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager in package network-manager to remove the 2 last lines. [Bug 1762163] [NEW] [Kubuntu 18.04]Device notifier pretends it cannot mount usb device while actually mounting it
Public bug reported: There is a Fix proposed from comment 36 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370975 I have this problem when trying to mount any removable device or internal disk partition, either from Dolphin or from removable device manager in panel. It always shows an error message when you try to mount the device first time, the device is not opened in Dolphin but it is mounted correctly. Then at the second attempt it does not show error message and device is opened in Dolphin. The messages that I get in Spanish: >From Dolphin: "Ocurrió un error al acceder a «Carpeta personal», el sistema respondió: El dispositivo ya está montado: Device /dev/sdb3 is already mounted at `/media/yafu/PART 1'." >From removable device manager in panel a window message titled "Error Cliente KIO ?" and "Formato de URL erroneo" message. By the way, in a recent Dolphin update, when you mount partitions from the small folder/home icon to the left of the Dolphin address bar (that icon only appears if you have Panels > Places disabled), every time you Mount a device from there that menu is filled enormously with "Umount <>" items. Really annoying. === Related messages in English: "Error KIO Client" with the text "malformed URL" "An error occurred while accessing 'Home', the system responded: The device is already mounted: Device /dev/sdl1 is already mounted at '/media/myuser/disk title'. ** Affects: udisks2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1762163 Title: [Kubuntu 18.04]Device notifier pretends it cannot mount usb device while actually mounting it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udisks2/+bug/1762163/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
