[Bug 1659785] Re: package linux-firmware 1.157.8 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2018-03-28 Thread Steve Langasek
I'm sorry, but this was wrongly triaged as a critical bug in initramfs-
tools, when in fact it appears to be a bug in some software not
originating in Ubuntu. The error in your logs was:

> update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.13.0-108-generic
> E: /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/casper-memdisk failed with return 1.
> update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-3.13.0-108-generic with 1.
> dpkg: error processing package linux-firmware (--configure):
> subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

There is no script named /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/casper-memdisk
as part of any package in the Ubuntu archive.

The error in your logs was:

> cat: write error: No space left on device
> update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-4.4.0-112-generic with 1.

I'm afraid this is not a bug in initramfs-tools. You need to free up
enough space in /boot to be able to write the initramfs for the new
kernel.

[Bug 1759494] [NEW] system-config-lvm package missing from 18.04LTS Bionic Beaver

2018-03-28 Thread Damiön la Bagh
Public bug reported:

Package "system-config-lvm" is not compatible with Wayland so was in some
strange logic removed from the repositories in 17.10. This, even though we
could switch back to Xorg, which we did anyway since Wayland is far from
production ready.

Luckily with 18.04LTS Xorg will be default, meaning we can use system-
config-lvm again.

Please re-add it to the Ubuntu Repositories for 18.04LTS and include it
in the LiveISO (USB, CD).

It's really the only GUI utility to configure LVM's properly. Since
Ubuntu's default LVM creation in Ubiquity does not allow you to specify
a volume group name and separate the root from home logical partitions.

Using a GUI to configure LVM is much better than using the command line
as one can better visualize the results of ones actions.

Thanks!

[Bug 1759502] [NEW] orca crashed with SIGSEGV in PyCData_clear()

2018-03-28 Thread Attila Hammer
Public bug reported:

Dear Orca package maintainers and developers,

If in Orca preferences dialog I enabled contracted braille feature into
preferences dialog with Braille page the enabled contracted braille check box
and click OK button, Orca screen reader after settings reload is freeze.
This issue is true if Liblouis version greater with Liblouis 3.3.0 version,
Ubuntu 18.04 containing now with Liblouis 3.5.0 release.
Testcase:
1. Launch orca with orca --replace command if contracted braille is not enabled
(this is the default preference).
2. Press Orca modifier+Space keystroke. If you using desktop layout, the Orca
modifier key is insert or numpad insert keystroke. If you using laptop layout,
the orca modifier key is caps lock.
3. Goto braille page, and click enable contracted braille check box.
Expected result after Orca settings is reloaded:
Screen reader still usable.
Actual result:
Screen reader entire unusable.

I tested this issue with Ubuntu 18.04 Mate edition beta release I386
architecture version in a KVM virtual machine.

[Bug 1759314] Re: missing memory (32Gib instead of 64GiB)

2018-03-28 Thread Nicolas Jungers via ubuntu-bugs
I suspect a HW bug. Kernel 4.13.0-37-generic shows 32 GiB and kernel
4.16.0-041600rc7-generic both report 32 GiB. But on another box with the
very same HW I got 64 GiB with all kernels.

You can mark this one as invalid. Sorry for the false alarm.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

[Bug 1759508] [NEW] should Depend upon psmisc (for killall, used in logrotate config)

2018-03-28 Thread Matthew Vernon
Public bug reported:

version: 10.2.9-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
Ubuntu version: 16.04

/etc/logrotate.d/ceph-common contains:

/var/log/ceph/*.log {
rotate 7
daily
compress
sharedscripts
postrotate
killall -q -1 ceph-mon ceph-mds ceph-osd ceph-fuse radosgw || true
endscript
missingok
notifempty
su root ceph
}

killall is in the psmisc package, so the ceph-common package should
declare a dependency on psmisc.

Thanks,

Matthew

[Bug 1759511] [NEW] Fix an issue that when system in S3, USB keyboard can't wake up the system.

2018-03-28 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Public bug reported:

===SRU Justification===
[Impact]
xHC stays at D0 when system is in S3. Unfortunately D0 can't generate PME#
wakeup event, so USB device can't wake the system.

[Test]
Intel NUC can't be waken up by USB keyboard when the system is in S3.
With the patch, USB keyboard can wake up the system.

[Regression Potential]
Low.
The issue starts appearing from Gemini Lake, older generation hardware
shouldn't get affected.

[Bug 1743094] Re: [regression] hibernation (freezes on resume) since 4.13.0-25.29

2018-03-28 Thread Iain
I've been following this for a while. 16.04 isn't going to get the 4.15
kernel until August (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Support) but 18.04
is going to ship with it
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BionicBeaver/ReleaseNotes) and that gets a
stable release on 26 April.

I think everyone has the option of one of three things:

1. Do ibrokeit's guide on how to use the mainline 4.15 kernel (and be
unsupported but apparently have hibernate working again)
2. Wait for a month for 18.04 to come out and then upgrade, getting a supported
4.15 kernel with it and presumably working hibernate
3. Wait until August for 4.15 to be included in 16.04

Personally I've put up with no hibernate for a couple of months already
so I'm just going to wait for 18.04 (which I was going to upgrade to
anyway) rather than risk the stability of my work machine, however small
that risk might be.

[Bug 1699637] Re: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

2018-03-28 Thread Christophe Lyon
Hi,
I've just upgraded my x86_64 laptop to Ubuntu 17.10, and I believe I'm hitting
the same problem.

In short, I can't login from the lightdm greeter: it accepts my
password, the login process starts and immediately stops and comes back
to the lightdm greeter. It worked well before I upgraded

I had warnings about pam-kwallet.so, which I "solved" by installing
libpam-kwallet and libpam-kwallet5 packages, and manually created
/lib/security symlink pointing to /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/security. This
fixed the warnings, but not the login problem :(

The next thing I noticed is the error message mentioned in this bug report.
My /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log file contains:

[Bug 1748157] Re: [MIR] thunderbolt-tools

2018-03-28 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Bolt upstream has contacted the thunderbolt-tools upstream about using
the same ACL before starting writting their code but never got a reply
on the topic apparently, let's see what they say but bolt is providing
desktop integration and a command line utility and they plan to have the
networking part integrated to network-manager so it should be a full
solution for Ubuntu Desktop installations.

[Bug 1759519] [NEW] [SRU] Ensure "minimal" images have "minimal" in their /etc/cloud/build.info

2018-03-28 Thread Chris Glass
Public bug reported:

This is a backport to xenial for changes landed in bionic in
https://code.launchpad.net/~tribaal/livecd-rootfs/trunk-minimal-build-
info/+merge/342096

/etc/cloud/build.info is the file we write to the (image) disk where we
track build information. In the current state of things we hardcode
"server" in there as the build type, but should instead write "minimal"
for minimal builds.

[Impact]

 * Minimized images will have "minimal" in their /etc/cloud/build.info
file.

[Test Case]

 * No new autopkgtest was added, however, it is trivial to check the
produced image for the appropriate key.

[Regression Potential]

 * Since minimal images have not had an official release yet, none.

[Other Info]

(none)

[Bug 1758868] Re: ovs restart can lead to critical ovs flows missing

2018-03-28 Thread Edward Hope-Morley
Hi Junien, I see that you have stated that you are using neutron version
2:8.4.0-0ubuntu6 which for the sake of this comment is fine but just to
close the loop:

The current version of neutron in xenial-updates i.e. 2:8.4.0-0ubuntu7.1
introduced a regression [1][2] that produces almost exactly the same
behaviour that you see. That neutron package has subsequently been
reverted and currently waiting for a release to xenial-updates so in any
case please be sure not to upgrade neutron until the version (currently
in xenial-proposed) gets released. All UCA have already been fixed.

I'm gonna look closer at what you have observed to see if I can repro
and see whats going on.

[Bug 1759526] [NEW] Enabling 'Auto-hide the Dock' moves the clock and desktop icons

2018-03-28 Thread Harald H.
Public bug reported:

The clock and desktop icons are moved 1 slot to the left when enabling
Auto-hide the Dock.

Reproduce:
- Open the Settings > Dock
- Enable Auto-hide the Dock

If disabling Auto-hide, the clock and desktop icons are moved in the
opposite direction (to the right). In certain situations this can make
the desktop icons go off screen.

Reproduce:
- Open the Settings > Dock
- Enable Auto-hide the Dock
- Place a icon on the right edge of the screen
- Disable Auto-hide the Dock

Expected behavior:
The clock should never move. The desktop icons can move if the launcher is
overlapping the icons, if this exception is not not feasible the icons should
never move automatically.
