Re: [Bug 1721346] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at f84eb3cc

2017-10-07 Thread Clownfishy
Hi,

First of all, many thanks for all your help on this and such rapid
response, you guys are just AWESOME :-) It looks like you have fixed it :-)

I ran the command and updated dated the system again and rebooted. When I
logged in, GNOME seemed to struggle and the menu bar reset (everything
disappeared and came back again). It has has pushed me back onto the the
NVIDIA 304.137 driver.
I opened Chrome and closed it and it did not log me out this time but it
did reset the screen. Also Ubuntu reported the error systemd 234-2ubuntu12
error so I uploaded that. I opened Chrome and closed it again and the
second time did not reset the screen

I switched to the Nouveau driver and rebooted and now there is no resetting
or flickering of the screen when I login. I can close and resize Chrome
without any issues whatsoever.

Thank you so much. What I dont understand is what driver I am now using as
it says Nouveau as I thought we removed it when I ran sudo apt purge
xserver-xorg-video-nouveau?

[Bug 1581160] Re: Switch to Noto Sans as default font for Japanese and/or Korean?

2017-10-07 Thread Mitsuya Shibata
> sudo apt purge fonts-takao-*
> sudo apt install fonts-noto-cjk-extra

I tried it. Displayed glyphs are not so bad. However all glyphs are
slightly thin. And it seems that some glyphs are not Noto's glyph...

[Bug 1581160] Re: Switch to Noto Sans as default font for Japanese and/or Korean?

2017-10-07 Thread Mitsuya Shibata
For example "全", its spaces between vertical bars should be same. But
displayed glyph has more space for 1st and 2nd vertical bars than 2nd
and 3rd vertical bars.

Is this settings problem? or is other glyph used?

[Bug 1721946] [NEW] passwordsafe does not remember settings made in options dialogue

2017-10-07 Thread zapyon
Public bug reported:

I just installed passwordsafe and after the first start, changed some
settings in the "Manage -> Options..." dialogue. I created a test
password safe, added one group, closed passwordsafe and re-opened it,
this time to import my old passwords (dat file).

The settings I had changed were all back to their defaults (by the way:
this included the visibility setting of the "dragbar" which I set to
"invisible".

I found it especially sad that setting the password history to 10
previous password for all existing entrys of the "safe" had no effect.

Regards

Andreas

[Bug 1584740] Re: Libreoffice impress hanging and high cpu on slide operations

2017-10-07 Thread Hossein
I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad (T460s), 8GB RAM with SSD. I am suffering
from the same problem. It seems that it is worsening when the number of
slides is growing. There is one more problem as well, which I am not
sure if it is correlated to the hanging problem, which is a confusing
undo operation. When I try to undo some steps, most of the times I am
not able to recover the previous status. It is happening even when there
only two to three steps of undoing. I even increased the memory in the
memory options, but it didn't change anything, just it made things
worse.

I did have this problem with ubuntu 14.4 and the previous version of
liber, however, I didn't have the hanging experience very often.

[Bug 1721950] [NEW] Icon themes obtained through Systemsettings cannot be fully removed

2017-10-07 Thread Øystein Alværvik
Public bug reported:

When I attempt to remove an icon theme from System Settings, a message
pops up saying "Could not remove the file
/home/ystein/.local/share/icons//." The theme is
then removed from the System Settings' list of icon themes. But when I
browse to the icon theme in .local/share/icons/ I can see that many
files remain.

Steps to reproduce: Go to System Settings -> Icons and choose to
download a new theme. Pick any theme for install. Within System
Settings, choose the downloaded icon theme and click Remove theme. Enjoy
the message that follows.

[Bug 1720760] Re: Under Xorg app windows unscaled until gnome tweaks is launched.

2017-10-07 Thread Rachel Greenham
Seems to have gone away with recent upgrades. I can't tell exactly which
as I was attempting to use wayland under amd and even under nvidia-387
(which worked fine except for a couple of random system freezes during
closing windows). Back on nvidia/xorg because of that (although not
exhaustively tested that *that* isn't still going to happen), and the
scaling problem appears to have resolved. Guessing that was fixed
upstream in 3.26.1.

mutter version 3.26.1-1
gnome-shell 3.26.1-0ubuntu1
nvidia-387 387.12-0ubuntu0~gpu17.10.1 from graphics-drivers/ppa

There were problems *selecting* 200% scaling in this environment with
two monitors. I had to try several times before it took, but it did
eventually. That'll be a different bug though.

[Bug 1720525] Re: Update package to newer version

2017-10-07 Thread Stephen Kitt
I'm pretty sure the Debian package can be synced as-is, there are no
additional changes that would need to be kept in the current Ubuntu
package. (The only patch is included in the upstream code in newer
versions, including that packaged in Debian.)

it should be easy to close the current version. Surely you have a linux

[Bug 1721821] Re: sddm freezes 50 seconds before KDE Plasma starts

2017-10-07 Thread vmagnin
** Description changed:

I upgraded my Kubuntu 17.04 to 17.10 four days ago.

My PC is booting fast: ~10 seconds to see the greeter. But when I
connect to my Plasma session, the greeter is staying ~50 seconds at
screen, before Plasma is starting (in ~10 more seconds). There was no
problem before upgrading to Kubuntu 17.10.

I connected to a terminal session just after having entered my password
in the greeter, and I launched the htop command: all I can say is that
there is no cpu eating process. The cpu is nearly idle during these 50
  seconds.

[Bug 1721960] [NEW] Flickering on AMD R9 270X

2017-10-07 Thread Rodrigo
Public bug reported:

SO: Ubuntu 17.04
xserver-xorg-video-ati version: 1:7.9.0-0ubuntu1
Graphics: Gallium 0.4 on AMD PITCAIRN (DRM 2.49.0 / 4.10.0-35-generic, LLVM
4.0.0)
GPU: Sapphire R9 270X

The screen flickers every time the GPU recieves some workload (e.g. moving the
mouse or opening a window).
This is probably caused by the DPM (dynamic power management). The bug is gone
when I set /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_dpm_force_performance_level to
high or low. The bug is present when set to auto.
I know that some people has removed his R9 270X from the quirk list and
recompiled the kernel fixing the issue.

2017-10-07 Thread Dylan Borg
The weird hang may not be related to the iwlwifi module after all. When
running the vanilla 4.13.5 kernel from the mainline builds done at
canonical I can observe normal shutdowns. The wifi related message is
still there but the machine turns off normally!

[Bug 1721963] [NEW] No mouse cursor on Wayland when Universal Access > Zoom is selected

2017-10-07 Thread Colin Law
Public bug reported:

Using default login on 17.10 Beta, which I believe is Wayland, when
Universal Access > Zoom is selected the mouse cursor disappears. The
mouse continues to function, but no cursor is visible.

It is ok when used with X login.

[Bug 1720890] Re: vulkan-smoketest segfaults steam vulkan games segfault

2017-10-07 Thread Lawrence A Fossi
After looking at the khronos registry spec VK_AMD_rasterization_order :
extension revision 1
seems to be the key to have basic vulkan support on mesa 17.2.2 for amd cards.
The other 3 are too new.

I guess this isn't really a bug but more of a much needed feature
request to enable it. That would be Ubuntu's decision to make wouldn't
it rather than an upstream one?

[Bug 1721965] [NEW] regression: cannot change home page in Firefox again (Artful)

2017-10-07 Thread nmaxx
Public bug reported:

System:
Ubuntu MATE 17.10 (amd64)

Package version:
17.10.24

How to reproduce:
- log in with fresh user profile
- open Firefox
- change home page to whatever URL you choose
- quit Firefox
- restart Firefox

Expected behavior:
=> Firefox opens your selected home page

Actual behavior:
=> Firefox reverts to the default start page for Ubuntu MATE

Root cause:
/usr/lib/firefox/ubuntumate.cfg incorrectly uses pref() instead of
defaultPref() to set the home page

And yes, I know this is likely marked as duplicate of #1605887, which
reappeared in 17.10 despite having been fixed for previous versions.
I hope this can be sorted out before 17.10 officially gets out the door.

[Bug 1721345] Re: ALC295 codec seems to have Master and PCM channels swapped

2017-10-07 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
It's actually a valid bug. The problem is that node 0x06 does not have
amp-out capability. Also there's no mixer that can connect 0x06 to
another node with amp-out capability.

I'll ask ALSA expert how to solve problem like this.

[Bug 1702466] Re: Subnet details page fails when a subnet uses IPv6 with prefix delegation

2017-10-07 Thread Akihiro Motoki
Yes, we need to add a special handling when subnetpool_id is
'prefix_delegation'. It is a special subnet pool and we cannot retrieve
such subnetpool via the neutron API.

Note that 9.1.2 is a mitaka release of horizon. Mitaka is no longer
maintained as the upstream, so the fix will be only in the master and
pike release.

[Bug 1721345] Re: ALC295 codec seems to have Master and PCM channels swapped

I wish anyone luck when trying to improve the status of the driver for

mixer channels.

I got a better result by changing "volume=ignore" to "volume=100", that
makes ure teh Master channel is stuck to 100% so teh woofers get used.

[Bug 1721976] [NEW] Thunar New Tab Button

2017-10-07 Thread Gottfried
Public bug reported:

This is not a bug report. However I know how you could make a better program.
I think it would be nice to have a "New Tab Button" on the toolbar in Thunar.
Another suggestion is to have a configurable toolbar with a selection of
buttons, eg. "New Window", "Actions", "Settings".
Thank you!
From: Happy Xfce4 user.

[Bug 1708480] Re: Ubuntu 17.04/17.10 Screen Tearing on Intel KabyLake Graphics Cards

2017-10-07 Thread MBWD
There have been no updates to this bug report, but I wanted to post that
the latest daily 17.10 image (installed today, 10.07.2017) still has
this screen tearing problem. Worse, on a Yoga 910, it adds a problem
that the screen starts rotated 90 clockwise and can't be fixed.
