[Bug 1706248] Re: SLOF dhcp request doesn't include client architecture code 93

2017-08-29 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Debian didn't move at all yet.
So we need to consider to move ahead for Artful.

Also the last release [1] is meant to tag along qemu 2.10, so it might
be worth in general to pick that up.

I checked the changes since [2] and they are mostly bug fixes anyway.
Standing out of these "mostly fixes", are a set of changes around:
- block write support
- New SLOF boot menu
- Allow >255 LUNs
But the Release Team can take a look at [3] for their own consideration.

Overall the changes are not "too much":
- 57 commits
- 62 files changed, 1077 insertions(+), 682 deletions(-)
- biggest part in terms of LOC is a rework/cleanup in netload
- list of changes [4] (no further Changelog file)

An approved exception would allow to fix this reported and many other
bugs (as seen in the commits) in what I'd hope to be a low risk update.

This is most of what we need, I'll prep a package in a ppa to get build,
install and test logs to make this a full FFE bug to get approval.

Ah, nice! Thanks for pointing it out, i had not found it myself. I solved
my problems temporarily by adding i40e 2.0.30 driver as dkms to my current
system and will follow the other bug (the i40e 2.1.26 leaked memory at an
alarming rate, but that's a story for a different bugreport maybe).

[Bug 1713642] [NEW] package linux-image-4.10.0-33-generic (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 128

2017-08-29 Thread Neil Groves
Public bug reported:

This happened during a routine system update. The update was triggered
by selecting "Update All" from the notification area running a Gnome 3
shell. Perhaps a related issue is a continual failure to update a
logitech bluetooth receiver firmware. This never completes, and perhaps
messes up the dependencies.

[Bug 786813] Re: Enable avahi support in samba

2017-08-29 Thread Bryan Henry
Luri, a static avahi service file isn't a great solution since you lose
any of the dynamic Avahi support in Samba, like for the pending
F_FULLSYNC changes: https://github.com/samba-team/samba/pull/64. It
would be best to just enable Avahi support, which is what Debian
apparently did.

[Bug 1712491] Re: Add backported bnxt driver to the initramfs

** Description changed:

- We're adding a backported bnxt driver to Xenial (LP #1711056). It's an

+ [Impact]
+ We're adding a backported bnxt driver to Xenial (LP #1711056). It's an
alternate for the regular Xenial driver that only manages NICs that are not
supported by the regular Xenial driver. Since the backported driver lives in
the special location kernel/ubuntu/bnxt it's not automatically included in the
initramfs. But it's boot-critical so it needs to be added to the initramfs.

[Bug 1706248] Re: SLOF dhcp request doesn't include client architecture code 93

2017-08-29 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
DFSG seems to be git sans:
- .git
- FlashingSLOF.pdf
- board-js2x/rtas/i2c_bmc.oco
- board-js2x/rtas/ipmi_oem.oco
- clients/takeover/takeover.oco

Building like that for the experiment to stay as close to the dfsg Debian
"would" have.
Furthermore all changes are taken as direct cherry-picks from the upstream repo
to make History as clear as possible.
Other than these we only update the changelog - no other tweaks needed as it
seems.

Fortunately the package is rather straight forward - small d/rules, very
low amount of files in d/* in general. That should help to get a good
feeling on the Release Team review for the FFE.

Experimental builds in
https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/2925
Build log seems good:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/335009365/buildlog_ubuntu-artful-amd64.slof_20170724+dfsg-0ubuntu1_BUILDING.txt.gz

Goging to test that later today to complete FFE requirements.
If others want/could test as well please be welcome.

[Bug 1713650] [NEW] Can't Alt+drag windows at all any more

2017-08-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt

Alt+drag doesn't move windows like it should.

I think this might be a Wayland-specific problem in Gnome Shell.

Re: [Bug 1567597] Re: implement 'complain mode' in seccomp for developer mode with snaps

2017-08-29 Thread Zygmunt Krynicki
Hey Tyler, thank you for the update, this looks very promising indeed.

I'd like to ask about two aspects:

- detection, how can we detect that this feature is available? Shall
we just compile a program and see if it loads on snapd startup?
- golang, we use golang bindings to libseccomp and we will need to
adjust them to expose the new APIs (presumably). Is this something you
plan to handle as well?

Thanks
ZK

Also affects the dock menus now. They're using Adwaita grey instead of
Ambiance grey. I think the dock itself is too, just more translucent.

[Bug 1706630] Re: aarch64: MSI is not supported by interrupt controller

2017-08-29 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
>From the log:
hvm

This is still running on the older qemu.
So the former assumption isn't checked yet.

It is assumed that 2.10 releases today [1].
I addressed some feedback of corecb in regard to your builds in the -rc4 I
prepared already.
I'd have thought you have the -rc3 I made available a while ago in UCA already.
So we have to re-test with that once available in UCA as well.

to verify that it should work I took your XML and
- removed the disks I don't have (added a local img file as replacement)
- replaced the bridge I don't have with the default bridge (still a virtio net
device)
All device init would still pass on this so I would trigger your bug, but it
works just fine.
See xml [2] which gets live expanded to [3].

For now still assuming it is fixed in qemu 2.10 - please get back when
it is tested on that in pike.

[Bug 1713664] [NEW] Selecting London England selected US Keyboard settings - should be UK

2017-08-29 Thread fossfreedom
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Budgie 17.10 beta 1

Test case: install entire disk

The country autoselected to be England, UK - which is correct since that
is the location I am in.

The next screen is to select the keyboard - this defaulted to US. This
is wrong - it should have been English (UK)

[Bug 1713674] [NEW] Starting Xenial lxc without cap_sysadmin fails

2017-08-29 Thread Pierre Schweitzer
Public bug reported:

Dear all,

When trying to start an LXC container with Xenial on both host and
container, if sys_admin capability is dropped (lxc.cap.drop = sys_admin
in the config file), the container fails to start, because systemd fails
to mount the cgroup filesystem in the container. The workaround is to
manually mount the cgroup filesystem before starting the container
(using the lxc.mount.entry in the config file), but, LXC performs the
mount too early, before being in the container cgroup namespace, that
means what's mounted matches host cgroup namespace, not container
namespace.

The bug was already reported upstream[1][2], but didn't make it to Ubuntu yet,
AFAIK.
A fix was merged in master[3], would it be possible to have it in Ubuntu Xenial?

So far, we manually patch Ubuntu LXC packages with that patch and
observed no régressions.

Thanks!

Cheers,
P. Schweitzer

[Bug 1713149] Re: resolv.conf symlink is broken after clean debootstrap

2017-08-29 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Correct that there is a bug with debootstrap above, if both this new
systemd & resolvconf are being bootstrapped together. (as both
src:systemd and src:resolvconf try to setup /etc/resolv.conf symlink)

Dropping resolvconf from important should resolve this.

The ExecStartPre change should then be dropped.

[Bug 1713212] Re: changes in >= 234-2ubuntu7 for artful breaks kubuntu CI image build in docker

2017-08-29 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
I'm not sure how to fix this, or rather how to make src:systemd match
what src:resolvconf used to do.

In the end the system should end up with /etc/resolv.conf pointing at
/run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf. Yet from the log, it seems that
debootstrap (?!) is running, however, one is not allowed to overwrite
/etc/resolv.conf.

Do you have a copy/result of older deboostraps? Do they end up having a
valid /etc/resolv.conf?

[Bug 1713551] Re: System tray (notification area) icons are not shown on unity-session and gnome-classic

2017-08-29 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Ubuntu abolished the notification area in 2011, in favor of application
indicators, and reviving it would be a regression.

Transmission and hplip both adopted application indicators years ago, so
there is no need to show the notification area for their sake.
