[Bug 1699063] Re: package linux-image-4.10.0-24-generic 4.10.0-24.28 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 128

2017-06-22 Thread madbiologist
Thanks.

System has been working normally since reporting this bug, without
further prompts to report a system problem.

According to man apt-get, sudo apt-get install -f is the same as the
sudo apt --fix-broken install that I have already ran. I ran the sudo
apt-get clean and sudo apt-get update commands that you described,
followed by sudo apt-get upgrade. One new package version was detected
and installed, so my system seems to be OK now.

[Bug 1699709] [NEW] I was wondering if this package could be updated to a more current version, mostly because it does not have support for validating RHEL7 kickstart files.

I went to validate a kickstart file which had passed on my CentOS7

the list:

[Bug 1697729] Please test proposed package

2017-06-22 Thread James Page
Hello Aaron, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libvirt into ocata-proposed. The package will build now and be
available in the Ubuntu Cloud Archive in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. To enable the -proposed
repository:

  sudo add-apt-repository cloud-archive:ocata-proposed
  sudo apt-get update

Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-ocata-needed to verification-ocata-done. If it does
not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change
the tag to verification-ocata-failed. In either case, details of your
testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1377653] Re: HDMI sound output not detected / NVIDIA optimus laptop

2017-06-22 Thread Jan Drabner
Just wanted to chime in to report I have the exact same problem (using Ubuntu
16.04), with the same GPU, GTX 1060 (in an MSI Apache Pro).
No matter what I do, I cannot get the HDMI sound device to show up...

One thing that changed things for me is if I restart the PC with the
HDMI cable plugged in, I do get the HDMI device - but unfortunately it
completely messes up the screens (it somehow thinks the external TV is
my main monitor, laptop screen becomes unclickable... it really is a
mess).

Could this be connected to the graphics card drivers? I'm using the
latest from the Ubuntu packages, 375.

[Bug 1698233] Re: New libepoxy0 causes hang at boot

2017-06-22 Thread Timo Aaltonen
I don't know which GPU you have, but the OSS driver should support
OpenGL 4.5, at least with the updates ppa enabled
(ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/updates) which has Mesa 17.1.2 for xenial and zesty.

[Bug 1683393] Re: Kdenlive fails to launch

2017-06-22 Thread Martin Wimpress
This is ultimately caused by using the gtk2 style in kdeenlive which
cause it to segfault. ubuntu-mate-settings make this the default to try
and improve the visual integration of kdeenlive.

I've removed the setting overlay for kdenlive.

[Bug 1699698] Re: apt removes package when packagename ends with -

2017-06-22 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Of course it does that. Just like specifying + at the end of a package
name to remove means install. These are package modifiers, as documented
in the apt-get manpage (and - is incredibly useful for packages not
already installed, to prevent them from being installed).

Although after some reboots and reconnects I found I could encounter
similar bugs, the proposed packages are still much better than what's in

[Bug 1692911] Re: Installation with many package groups selected is not possible

2017-06-22 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
The bug in question is invalid.

The user selected to install way more packages than the available space.

It is always possible to run out of disk space and/or memory (here
oomkill killed the installer).

Please use appropriately sized machines, for the installation target. If
one tries to install all available packages, all translations, all debug
symbols, and all development packages - an appropriate amount of disk
space and installation memory required.

[Bug 1699727] [NEW] Please remove libkface from artful

2017-06-22 Thread Rik Mills
Public bug reported:

- Please remove from artful
- Source and binaries

- This source and binaries are now replaced and obsoleted by the KDE
Frameworks 5 versions: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libkf5kface

Nothing now builds with or requires the old source.

In addition, this old version remaining will block the transition to
OpenCV 3.1, as can be seen in update_output.txt from proposed migration
logs

OpenCV 3.1 migration would break libkface-dev, libkface3 etc, as the lib
depends on the old OpenCV libopencv-core2.4v5 and similar.

[Bug 1654448] Re: XPS 13 9360 and 9350, Realtek ALC3246, Headphone audio hiss

Unfortunately that did not work.

I can confirm that http://people.canonical.com/~khfeng/lp1654448-artful/
does now remove the 'Headphone Mic Boost' option.

However the headphone audio hiss remains, and now we have no
workaround...

2017-06-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
At a guess the cause of the problem may be some kind of headphone volume
boost option that's turned on by default, and weirdly turned off by
"'Headphone Mic Boost',0 1". This may not be avoidable interference as
much as just excessive volume boost turned on by default.

[Bug 1699739] [NEW] package linux-image-4.8.0-56-generic (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: le sous-processus nouveau script pre-installation a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 1

2017-06-22 Thread vu tran-ha
Public bug reported:

The bug: 'package linux-image-4.8.0-56-generic (not installed) failed'

I don't know what happened when I responded 'Yes' to your demand about the
update Ubuntu. I've read all questions about the bug in 'Questios for Ubuntu'
but nothing was matched with this problem. The problem is: Ubuntu can't update
as it could xhen it updates the package image linux generic.
Before this bug,I made the installations below with the process demanded by
Ubuntu (apt-get ):
-vlc
-Java 8
-Eclipse
-and configurations of Eclipse for Java and Python (Python 2.7 and 3.5 existed
already in Ubuntu)
Ubuntu I installed is: ubuntu-16.04.2-desktop-i386. Further more, my laptop is
an old Fujitsu Siemens dated 2005 (Amilo-1425) with an Intel CPU Centrino of
2.6 MHz Horloge ang 1Mo of RAM. Before installtion of Ubuntu, I known that my
CPU is a non-pae CPU that means it does'nt supported Ubuntu 16.04. But with a
manipulation demanded by Ubuntu 'forcepae' the installation was magnificently
sucessed.

Correct me from wrong, but this is the first time you mention that the
system ran out of space because too many packages were selected.

Would there have been a way for me as the user to see, that all the
software I want to install would make the system run out of resources,
be it disk space or memory? Like a warning for example?

I currently don't see any indication on how much space the packages I am
about to install will require.

I would have thought that 2 GB of memory would be fine to install an
Ubuntu system. Do you have an estimate on how much memory and disk space
I would need to successfully install all the packages I selected? Then I
will try again and see if it fails again

[Bug 1692911] Re: Installation with many package groups selected is not possible

2017-06-22 Thread Frank Heimes
Well, it was already mentioned in Comment 2:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/1692911/comments/2
I can only assume that the bugzilla bridge didn't replicated that comment?!
It happens from time to time ...

[Bug 62244] Re: Debugging mode not enabled in Bochs.

2017-06-22 Thread Ruslan
@Yuki Izumi (kivikakk)

Actually GDB is not even comparable with the internal debugger. It can't
really debug guest OS: GDB doesn't support 16-bit code, it can't
correctly handle switches between 16-32-64-bit modes, can't work with
physical vs virtual memory mapping, etc. It's just useless as a
replacement for internal debugger.

[Bug 1699004] Re: APST gets enabled against explicit kernel option

2017-06-22 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Built a new kernel for testing:
http://people.canonical.com/~khfeng/lp1699004/linux-image-4.12.0-rc6+_4.12.0-rc6+-6_amd64.deb

Also, you can remove "nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0" - the model
you use is already in the quirk table. Keep "nvme_core.dyndbg=+p" in the
meantime.

Attach `dmesg | grep -i nvme` afterwards.

[Bug 797485] Re: SRU: Status Bar Covers File Name at Bottom

2017-06-22 Thread Amr Ibrahim
The status bar is only being hidden while mouse hovering, it is not removed
completely. It's an improvement to the current status. There is no regression
here.
I tested 1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu6 in xenial-proposed and verified the fix.

[Bug 1699176] Re: Autopkgtests failing with liboctave4

2017-06-22 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Forwarded proposed hash change to upstream with the following PR:
https://github.com/matlab2tikz/matlab2tikz/pull/995

I have tested a local build of the package in a PPA and ran it through
autopkgtests and there are no reliable failures anymore. So this
essentially fixes the issue - I might wait for upstream to comment first
though before uploading.
