[Bug 1682023] [NEW] snapd/snap-confine leaves behind /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.snapd.snap-confine on upgrade

2017-04-12 Thread Steve Beattie
Public bug reported:

The kernel ADT tests failed when running some of the apparmor tests
against the apparmor utilities, with error messages:

ERROR: Conflicting profiles for /usr/lib/snapd/snap-confine defined in two
files:
   - /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.snapd.snap-confine.real
   - /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.snapd.snap-confine

See log at
https://objectstorage.prodstack4-5.canonical.com/v1/AUTH_77e2ada1e7a84929a74ba3b87153c0ac
/autopkgtest-xenial/xenial/amd64/l/linux-hwe-
edge/20170410_201241_f4dfd@/log.gz

Examining the log, the ADT harness uninstalls snapd 2.22.6 without
purging and without uninstall snap-confine (which contains
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.snapd.snap-confine). It then later installs
snapd 2.23.6 (which contains /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.snapd.snap-
confine.real) before running the tests.

The snapd 2.23.6 package contains the following in its postrm file:

  dpkg-maintscript-helper rm_conffile /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.snapd
.snap-confine 2.23.6~ -- "$@"

[Bug 1667926] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT

2017-04-12 Thread Timo Aaltonen
You probably had some boot issue and chose recovery boot, because the
old xorg log shows you had 'nomodeset' kernel parameter set. This will
mess up trying to load unity I'm pretty sure. Anyway, this bug is
closed.

[Bug 1606178] Re: Can't suspend to ram, since linux3.11 and more

2017-04-12 Thread xzu
Well, someone help me and we finally don't do the bisect:
all I can say: the problem comes with the 3.11.0-031100rc1.201307141935 Linux
kernel image for ubuntu kernel release.
We don't find the main kernel corresponding, and we esteemed that will be a
very to big work for no guarantee.

So we try to find a solution with 16.04, because the goal of all this is
to suspend with an higher kernel than 3.10 with my hardware.

We found it by first do:
-disable usb wake up( cat /proc/acpi/wakeup to check what is enable)
-then, I need to first do sudo pm-suspend in the session. If I don't, I can't
resume.
If I do first sudo pm-suspend in the session, then I can resume normally.
So I need to do this if I reboot.

So workaround found, this thread can be closed!

[Bug 1681847] Re: IPVS incorrectly reverse-NATs traffic to LVS host

2017-04-12 Thread Nick Moriarty
It's hard to tell whether this was the result of an upgrade - I think
this behaviour has always been present in the 14.04 stock kernels, but
we noticed it less until recently.

I'll look into testing the latest upstream kernel and get back to you.

If I get a chance I'll also try to look through the kernel source where
we know the problem exists - I expect it relates to the code that
handles the return path for NAT (masq) services, in relation to how it
treats entries in the IPVS connection table.

Thanks

[Bug 1682049] [NEW] package ubuntu-app-launch 0.9+16.10.20160928-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2017-04-12 Thread Rex L
Public bug reported:

I get a tonne of these reports on boot and can't seem to find anything
in the syslog or dmesg which matches.

Have noticed that the networking service does not initially start -
although networking is operational on boot. A restart of the service
resolves the issue.

Correct, no backport to 16.04 as is as of now. This is a backwards
incompatible change which can break existing VMs networking, as
interfaces cannot have multiple names (unlike e.g. hard drives which
can have backwards compatible symlinks).

I'm not even sure yet, if I should be writing more code to e.g.
automatically transform /etc/networking/interfaces with new interface
names.

did you follow the Test Case documented above, or something else?

[Bug 1682055] [NEW] dh_apparmor does not remove profiles(s) when purging package

2017-04-12 Thread Steve Beattie
Public bug reported:

dh_apparmor adds an entry to remove apparmor profiles added by a package
when purging that package. However, it leaves the profiles loaded in the
kernel; it should unload them from the kernel before removing them from
the disk.

Secondly, dh_apparmor could make life easier for maintainers when
upgrading packages and the profile changes the name of profiles, child
profiles, or hats contained within a profile file. Without this, the
update can leave behind profiles etc. loaded into the kernel post a
package update. This would ideally need to be triggered only when the
upgrading package is older than a given version.

On a clean xenial system installing mtx & bash-completion simultaniously
works without any file conflicts.

[Bug 1642767] Re: starting any container with umask 007 breaks host system shutdown. lxc-stop just hangs.

2017-04-12 Thread Pierre-Louis Bonicoli
My previous comment is unclear, the two problems are:

1. 'lxc' directories below '/sys/fs/cgroup/' are created according to
the umask setting

2. then mounting '/sys/fs/cgroup/systemd' in the container hangs (and
attempts to reboot or shut down the host system fail, a hard reset is
required).

[Bug 1674164] Re: DVDs with restricted permissions are unreadable for normal user (regression?)

2017-04-12 Thread mikbini
In my view this is not invalid: "differently correct" recorders and also
printed DVDs are common in the wild and they work on Windows, osX and
"dumb" readers. And as the average user is not able to figure out a
workaround, he will assume that ubuntu is broken and switch to something
else.

The same argument ("we are applying the permissions") was made in 2009
for bug #10550 and ubuntu decision back then was to change the mount
options (possibly only to CDs/DVDs/Blueray, this is not clear from the
bug).

And let me stress again that this is indeed a regression: people used to
be able to play their braindead DVDs and now they cannot.

[Bug 1642582] Re: mtx package version 1.3.12-9 installation fails with duplicate bash-completion via apt-get

2017-04-12 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * mtx package has an arch-skew contents. On xenial and yakkety, on s390x, the
package was build with new enough bash-completion debhelper addon that has
placed the completion files into /usr which generates file conflict with
bash-completion package itself
+ * on all other architectures in xenial and yakkety the bash completion file
is shipped by the mtx package, redundantly in /etc, when there is a completion
file in /usr in bash-completion package already
+ * in zesty the bash completion file got remoted from the mtx package in favor
of bash-completion package one.
+ * to avoid file conflict on s390x on xenial/yakkety, I'm proposing to rebuild
mtx package on xenial and yakkety and remove the redudant bash completion file
+
+ [Testcase]
+ * Co-install mtx package and bash-completion package, without any file
conflicts
+ * Verify that /etc/bash_completion/mtx file does not exist and/or is removed
during the installation of the new mtx package (that should happen on non-s390x
architectures)
+ * Verify that mtx bash completion is still available

Yes, because that branch still need many fixes...

Currently it just adds _GTK_FRAME_EXTENTS and fixes resize rectangle size
for resize and move plugins. Default mode must be changed to outline or
rectangle to test that.

I fired up GtkInspector and may have found the problem, at least in

What app? For example I can not tile nautilus window, but it works fine
with gedit (with metacity). That could be reason why style class is
missing. Simply window is not really tiled, it is just resized. Gedit has
tile class with both window managers - compiz & metacity.

I build compiz locally with a fix that works for my use case, and that's

It is not compiz job...

[Bug 1681847] Re: IPVS incorrectly reverse-NATs traffic to LVS host

2017-04-12 Thread Nick Moriarty
I think I may have tracked this down, but I haven't had a go at patching
it yet.

In net/netfilter/ipvs/ip_vs_core.c - in handle_response():
/* mangle the packet */
if (pp->snat_handler && !pp->snat_handler(skb, pp, cp, iph))
goto drop;

This calls the protocol-specific SNAT handler - however, it doesn't
first check that (IP_VS_FWD_METHOD(cp) == IP_VS_CONN_F_MASQ), as is done
in a couple of the other netfilter modules.

I think this means SNAT is *always* done on response packets, even if
the connection information was for a non-NAT connection.

I'll update the issue once I've had a go at patching this.

[Bug 1642582] Re: mtx package version 1.3.12-9 installation fails with duplicate bash-completion via apt-get

2017-04-12 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

  * mtx package has an arch-skew contents. On xenial and yakkety, on s390x, the
package was build with new enough bash-completion debhelper addon that has
placed the completion files into /usr which generates file conflict with
bash-completion package itself
  * on all other architectures in xenial and yakkety the bash completion file
is shipped by the mtx package, redundantly in /etc, when there is a completion
file in /usr in bash-completion package already
  * in zesty the bash completion file got remoted from the mtx package in favor
of bash-completion package one.
  * to avoid file conflict on s390x on xenial/yakkety, I'm proposing to rebuild
mtx package on xenial and yakkety and remove the redudant bash completion file

  [Testcase]
  * Co-install mtx package and bash-completion package, without any file
conflicts
- * Verify that /etc/bash_completion/mtx file does not exist and/or is removed
during the installation of the new mtx package (that should happen on non-s390x
architectures)
+ * Verify that /etc/bash_completion.d/mtx file does not exist and/or is
removed during the installation of the new mtx package (that should happen on
non-s390x architectures)
  * Verify that mtx bash completion is still available

  Details
  ===
We wanted to install both the mt-st and mtx packages for s390 tape support.
We encountered a problem in the mtx_1.3.12-9_s390x.deb package which was
downloaded to /var/cache/apt/archives/ location but installation was not
performed due to duplicate bash completion data being delivered.
See the console output section below for results and more details about the
error itself.
We expect the mtx package to install smoothly with apt-get install mtx.

  We worked around with:

[Bug 1642582] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2017-04-12 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From christian.r...@de.ibm.com 2017-04-12 06:05 EDT---
We have been able to reproduce the problem on s390x with the command used in
the comment above on amd64 which is slightly different from the original error
report (see steps to reproduce). Since the problem is immediately reproducible
I presume there are architecture dependent differences in the package, i.e.
mtx_1.3.12-9_s390x.deb versus mtx_1.3.12-9_amd64.deb.

[Bug 1682077] [NEW] nested KVM fails - KVM: entry failed, hardware error 0x0

2017-04-12 Thread Iain Lane
Public bug reported:

Hello,

We just noticed that systemd's autopkgtests have started failing often
on amd64 for all releases, when run in Canonical's scalingstack cloud.

This is nested KVM I think.

[Bug 1682031] Re: adobe flashplugin could not be installed in lubuntu 17.04

I installed from zesty-desktop-i386.iso (without fetching any

install flashplugin-installer (and the whole lubuntu-restricted-extras).

It seems this bug affects only the installation of Lubuntu itself, or
maybe it is depending on the hardware. I installed in

[Bug 1671432] Re: Global application menu does not follow mouse move for displaying submenus

2017-04-12 Thread Benjamin Drung
Thanks to a debug session with Treviño. We narrowed the bug down:

The misbehavior is related to the multi-monitor setup. The mouse moves
over the global menu are correctly honored on the left-most monitor. On
all other monitors, the mouse moves are not honored (the right monitor
in a dual-monitor setup, the middle and the right monitor in a triple-
monitor setup).
