[Bug 1671990] Re: failing lxc-create doesn't create log file mentioned in error message
That error message comes from debootstrap, not from lxc-create. lxc-create in your case calls the lxc-debian script which in turn calls debootstrap. On failure, lxc-debian cleans up the build environment which is why the log file disappears. Anyway, the actual error is perfectly visible on screen, the error is that /proc can't be mounted which is usually a sign of you attempting to run lxc-create inside a container without having properly enabled nesting for that container. ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1671990 Title: failing lxc-create doesn't create log file mentioned in error message To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1671990/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1644530] Re: keepalived fails to restart cleanly due to the wrong systemd settings
While I'd like to understand what systemd changed, I still think adding the PIDFile is correct as a fix for keepalived. Understanding systemd might just open up to fix more than just this service. Never the less for type forking (that is the case here) PIDFile is recommended (https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.service.html). Various cases are listed when the MainPID guessing might fail otherwise. Also it is known proven to fix the issue, as well as being the upstream systemd file. I'll next week schedule a fix and as well file one with Debian to not keep that Delta forever. ** Changed in: keepalived (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: Confirmed => Triaged ** Changed in: keepalived (Ubuntu Xenial) Assignee: (unassigned) => ChristianEhrhardt (paelzer) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1644530 Title: keepalived fails to restart cleanly due to the wrong systemd settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keepalived/+bug/1644530/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1586835] Re: ssh-agent fighting gnome-keyring on Ubuntu Gnome 16.04
Hi, thanks for the info in this thread. It lead me into a work-around that seems to work for me. The scenario in my case: something is defining SSH_AUTH_SOCK but there's no ssh-agent running, despite use-ssh-agent being set in /etc/X11/Xsession.options. gnome-keyring-deamon is however running, where it's started is however unknown to me. The reason seems different (opposite) but the ssh-behavior is the same: It's not possible to log-in with keys. In my case I'm running unity and LightDM but have have a set-up where both unity, i3 and gnome has been VM/DM. I also still like to alter between VM:s as the machine is used by different users liking one or the other VM more. What's possibly worsened it is that the system has not had a clean re- install since 8.04, i.e. it's always been upgraded. (Some-where along the way I believe recalling having issues with gnome-keyring and possibly making an effort to disable it.) As I don't know where these environment variables are being set (not even SSH_AGENT_PID which in my case is unset), my workaround is to put the following line in /etc/bash.bashrc: if [ "X$(ps -Al -u $USER | grep ssh-agent)" == "X" ]; then unset SSH_AUTH_SOCK fi I'd appreciate feed-back if there are serious drawbacks with this approach or if a better/right way to manage this exists. (One obvious drawbacks is that tweaks like this become obsolete whence the right solution is pushed by the distribution and may cause new issues whence upgrading/updating, which may be how I ended up here in the first pace). [Bug 1672033] [NEW] XOrg does not work in rootless mode on nvidia proprietary drivers
Public bug reported: There are two bug reports in LP: #1559576, LP: #1632322 and also LP: #164, where GDM does not start on proprietary nvidia drivers. As it turned out, the reason for that was Xorg starting in rootless mode and apparently not initializing everything properly, which was causing gnome-shell/libmutter to crash. Installing xserver-xorg-legacy did partially fix those issues. Enabling modesetting for nvidia driver however still causes the problem. [Bug 658865] Re: Install from USB fails: "An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed"
Dear all, I have been reading this post and have been struggling with it for both Ubuntu and Linux Mint USB installations (my computer is so new, it doesn't have a disc nor ethernet port anymore). Unfortunately the resolution mentioned above didn't work our form e, but after some hours of booting and testing, I found this which proofed to be a robust and working resolution. Hope you enjoy using your system of choice in UEFI mode while installing from USB. As for the credit part, please note that none of the below is my intellectual property, I just found a way to use Google in a smart way and combine several resolutions into one that is working for me, using mainly the following websites: https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Thinkpad/X1%20Carbon%204thGen%20PCIe_SSD/jessie http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/280440/grub-and-lilo-both-fail- to-install-to-nvme-hard-disk-when-installing-debian http://www.rojtberg.net/1032/converting-a-ubuntu-and-windows-dual-boot- installation-to-uefi/ Basically, what you do is : - start the Ubuntu/Mint installer in BIOS mode - at the partition choise: "something else" / "manually" - create the 3 partitions to use in the final UEFI mode (1x EFI 512MB, 1x ext4, 1x SWAP) - set the GRUB partition to /dev/nvme0n1 (or /dev/sda, or ...) - install the Ubuntu/Mint as a normal BIOS install - Once installed, reboot to test the BIOS mode installed correctly - shutdown your BIOS based system and then make the switch from BIOS mode to UEFI mode - Boot the LIVE INSTALLATION image again in UEFI mode - Enter chroot and update Grub sudo mount /dev/nvme0n1p2 /mnt sudo mount /dev/nvme0n1p1 /mnt/boot/efi sudo mount -o bind /dev /mnt/dev sudo mount -o bind /sys /mnt/sys sudo mount -t proc /proc /mnt/proc sudo cp /proc/mounts /mnt/etc/mtab sudo cp /etc/resolv.conf /mnt/etc/resolv.conf sudo chroot /mnt sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude install grub-efi-amd64 sudo update-grub sudo grub-install --target=x86_64-efi /dev/nvme0n1 sudo update-grub reboot Et voila .. your system will boot in UEFI mode - with just a few minutes of additional installation effort. P.s. one of the articles also mentiones the following necessary commands - but to be honoust, the system works fine for me without ;-) Once the installation completes, boot into the system. $ sudo nano /etc/initramfs-tools/modules # add the following line nvme sudo update-initramfs -u sudo nano /etc/default/grub # modify the following lines GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet nomodeset" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="intel_pstate=no_hwp" sudo update-grub reboot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658865 Title: Install from USB fails: "An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/estobuntu/+bug/658865/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
