[Bug 1658606] [NEW] Alsa-lib 1.1.3-1 puls in python2.7 (Zepus dev)

2017-01-23 Thread Harry
Public bug reported:

The newest alsa-lib (package libasound2) in Zesty Zepus (v. 1.1.3-1) puls in
python2.7.
Package libasound2 depends on libpython2.7 (>= 2.7).
Earlier version did not depend on python2.7, so this is a new feature.
However, the aim was to get rid of puthon2.7 (transition to pyhton3) in the
official ubuntu content.

Might you be able to provide some steps how to recreate this to test and
verify the fix as this is part of the SRU process

[Bug 1364298] Re: mysql plugins fail on mysql 5.5/5.6

2017-01-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi,
thanks Jan for the patch!

As note to the bug - in the packaging the patch is against
./plugins/node.d/mysql_.in, so it should become a quilt patch.

I checked the latest packaged version which is 2.0.30-1 which still does
not have the fix.

Although upstream that file is https://github.com/munin-
monitoring/munin/blob/master/plugins/node.d/mysql_

That has the respective fix quite a long time now:
https://github.com/munin-monitoring/munin/commit/b45c07edcd3963936a7ac529620fc86f42ad6a1d

Yet not in the stable release which the packages code is based upon
https://github.com/munin-
monitoring/munin/blob/stable-2.0/plugins/node.d/mysql_.in

I'm not sure - should one suggest to merge this upstream into the stable
release and then pick it up with the next version?

[Bug 1189721] Re: Ralink RT3290 doesn't have a bluetooth driver

2017-01-23 Thread Jan Vodochalek
It is quite hard, since I have no source for the rtbt. The kernel 3.18
was ok to pair, but the kernel 4.02 is not pairing in simple secure
mode. When I compiled the wrapper rtbth some time ago, I checked the
source and there are data structure changes between these two versions.
You have this already implemented in your source via macros, which is
checking the kernel version. Can happen that some more structures are
changes.

[Bug 1573982] Re: LVM boot problem - volumes not activated after upgrade to Xenial

2017-01-23 Thread Jarod
Last night I ran into the same problem. I upgraded from 12.04 LTS to 16.04.1
LTS Server and got stuck at boot.
The last message complained about a UUID not being present. It turned out it
was the /usr FS. Doing an "lvm lvscan" from the initrd prompt showed all but
one LVs inactive. The only one active was bootvg/root.
I then booted via rescue system and added "lvm vgchange -ay" in
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/lvm2 right before "exit 0". After
running "update-initramfs -k all -c" and rebooting the server got up again.

The bootvg is on a RAID1 disk controlled via mdadm.

[Bug 1658632] [NEW] [drm:intel_pipe_update_end [i915_bpo]] *ERROR* Atomic update failure on pipe C

2017-01-23 Thread LeSam
Public bug reported:

Dell XPS 15, Ubuntu 16.04 (Ubuntu 4.4.0-59.80-generic 4.4.35), freshly
updated. Running BTRFS and nouveau.

The UI crashes, and put me back to the login screen after 30 seconds.

This happens when I start softwares based on webkit (stremio, opera,
chrome, etc). But generally only the first time. After login back and
starting the program again, it works without crashing.

The full dmesg error message is:

[ 113.711453] [drm:intel_pipe_update_end [i915_bpo]] *ERROR* Atomic
update failure on pipe C (start=5158 end=5159) time 130 us, min 1073,
max 1079, scanline start 1071, end 1080

Repeated several times.

I also get a:

[ 762.958586] nouveau :01:00.0: priv: HUB0: 10ecc0
(1d40822c)

And a:

[13925.500344] brcmf_cfg80211_reg_notifier: not a ISO3166 code

but don't know if it's relevant.

[Bug 1658275] Re: libvirtd regression after update to 1.3.1-1ubuntu10.6 - AppArmor now denies access to ~/.*

2017-01-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi Mike,
thanks for the report.
Let us try to sort it out what exactly your issue is and where it came from.

To sort out the delta I'd recommend
git+ssh://git.launchpad.net/~libvirt-maintainers/ubuntu/+source/libvirt

There you see it split even better than in debdiffs.

.7 upcoming and not touching apparmor
.6 only allowed more in the rules.
.5 is about guest listings
.4 numa for arm64
...

Did you Upgrade Trusty -> Xenial or libvirt inside the Xenial release?
Also as I said take a look at the git, together we shall find what causes this
for you.

[Bug 1633453] Re: ssh is started before cloud-init completed

2017-01-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
"Automatic provisioning tools usually waits for SSH to answer at the TCP
level and then expect things to work from here."

I'll let Scott handle the details, but as he mentioned by design runcmd
or user scripts run afterward anyway. To make sure that cloud-init
really is complete I happen to check on the existence of
/var/lib/cloud/instance/boot-finished - might that be an option for your
tools to use?

FYI - There also is a discussion about first initialization vs reboots
around this, see bug 1258113. Not really a duplicate, but it might be
worth to clarify if you care more about the initial deployment or any
later reboot (or both).

[Bug 1655625] Re: ISST-LTE:pVM:roselp4:ubuntu 16.04.2: vmcore cannot be analysed by crash

2017-01-23 Thread Louis Bouchard
** Description changed:

+ [SRU justification]
+ This fix is required to make the crash tool usable. It does also improve
makedumpfile filtering of pages.
+
+ [Impact]
+ Kernel crashes cannot be analysed with the crash tool.
+
+ [Fix]
+ Cherry-pick upstream commits fixing those issues.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Running crash tool on a kernel crash file will display something like :
+
+ # crash -s usr/lib/debug/boot/vmlinux-4.8.0-34-generic
+ crash: read error: kernel virtual address: 81e29ff0 type:
"pv_init_ops"
+ crash: this kernel may be configured with CONFIG_STRICT_DEVMEM, which
+renders /dev/mem unusable as a live memory source.
+ crash: trying /proc/kcore as an alternative to /dev/mem
+
+ crash: seek error: kernel virtual address: 81e29ff0 type:
"pv_init_ops"
+ crash: seek error: kernel virtual address: 82166130 type:
"shadow_timekeeper xtime_sec"
+ crash: seek error: kernel virtual address: 81e0d304 type:
"init_uts_ns"
+ crash: usr/lib/debug/boot/vmlinux-4.8.0-34-generic and
/var/crash/201701191308/dump.201701191308 do not match!
+
+ With the fix, the crash command will work as expected
+
+ [Regression]
+ None expected as those modifications are part of the Zesty and upstream
version.
+
+ [Original description of the problem]
vmcore captured by kdump cannot be opened with crash:

  % sudo crash -d1 /usr/lib/debug/boot/vmlinux-4.8.0-34-generic
/var/crash/201612282137/dump.201612282137
  ... ...
  base kernel version: 0.8.0
  linux_banner:

  crash: /usr/lib/debug/boot/vmlinux-4 and
/var/crash/201612282137/dump.201612282137 do not match!

  Usage:

- crash [OPTION]... NAMELIST MEMORY-IMAGE[@ADDRESS] (dumpfile form)
- crash [OPTION]... [NAMELIST] (live system form)
+   crash [OPTION]... NAMELIST MEMORY-IMAGE[@ADDRESS] (dumpfile form)
+   crash [OPTION]... [NAMELIST] (live system form)

  Enter "crash -h" for details.
-

Looks like the 'linux_banner' cannot be understood by crash.

And when the vmcore was dumping, this message being showed:

[ 729.609196] kdump-tools[5192]: The kernel version is not supported.

[Bug 1657867] Re: chmod 2750 on /var/log/mysql

2017-01-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi,
thank you for your report and your help to make Ubuntu better.

I came by trying to triage this bug, but since this more or less starts
with a question on the reasoning of changes to mysql packaging "Are
there any reasons why this has been removed in 1604 : chmod 2750
/var/log/mysql ?" I subscribed a few people who should know better than
me and hopefully can provide an answer.

[Bug 1657867] Re: chmod 2750 on /var/log/mysql

2017-01-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Looking at the Vcs git that is listed I see that the change came in with
Debians 5.6.14+dfsg-1.
That means the individual fix is in the past and can't be found in that repo.

But even checking for the past of this in git://anonscm.debian.org/pkg-
mysql/mysql-5.6.git this was part of the initial import into git.

I hope that Lars and Robie can help more to explain the reasoning and
come to a conclusion.

[Bug 1652270] Re: Could not boot into RPi3 with kernel 4.4.0-1038-raspi2

2017-01-23 Thread Simon Davis
I understand your point and I generally agree. On the other hand, such
an effort can be counterproductive and easily can cause more problems
than benefits.

People install a distro in a good faith that it will work and that the
maintainer will maintain it. At least, keep it in a working not bricked
state. A developer of a distribution is not the only one who invests
time in the project. The users do as well. And if you let a wide
userbase install your distribution you are taking a bit of
responsibility of the people. Giving out even a community built distro
under a well recognized brand name makes people think they can trust it.
It makes them think they can invest their time to installing and setting
up their systems. It makes them think they will not end up with auto-
bricked devices without any help or even reply after all the effort on
their side.

I think that letting people know that the problem will be fixed tomorrow
/ by next month / never does take that much time. So, can someone inform
users at least?

[Bug 1655534] Re: Libvirt lxc kills guest containers on first restart

2017-01-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
FYI - upstream fix 44f79a0b
Author: Daniel P. Berrange
lxc: ensure libvirt_lxc and qemu-nbd move into systemd machine slice

Should be fixed completely when merging libvirt >=3.0

It seems no one bothered for quite a while - so I keep low prio.
The tests that trigger that have a band-aid for now that we can retest and drop
when merging the newer libvirt (probably next cycle).

[Bug 1657897] Re: Failure to report rhosts

2017-01-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi James,
thank your for your report and your help to make Ubuntu better.
These are essentially two issues in one.

For the first being "fail sasl+pam" - would you have some steps to reproduce
the issue.
At least I must admit I never set them up, and others coming by to help might
as well.
So if you'd have a bit of a guide how to trigger the issue that would be great.
It might also help other users with the same issue to find more easily if they
are facing the same that you report.

For the second issue about ip restrictions based on past login attempts
I'd ask you to open up a new bug for it. Essentially as I read it that
is a feature request against the upstream projects more than anything
else - we should keep it separate from your issue #1 to avoid people
being distracted between the two.

[Bug 1633453] Re: ssh is started before cloud-init completed

2017-01-23 Thread Vincent Bernat
It's totally possible to fix things in the tools, but you have to fix in
all provisioning tools. My use case is first boot and is not about user
scripts, but proper configuration of SSH and SSH keys.

Looking a bit more, I see there is a Before=sshd.service for cloud-
init.service, so sshd should not be started while cloud-init is still
running. However, in my case, this is cloud-config.service that finish
setting SSH stuff (and restart ssh). I am not familiar with the
different steps. Shouldn't cloud-config.service delays SSH start too?

[Bug 1658198] Re: multi-level stacked qcow2 files are not properly handled in Apparmor

2017-01-23 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi Simon,
thank you for your report as always!

You reported this against Trusty - I'd expect so, but do you happen to
know right away if this affects Xenial and Zesty as well?

AFAIK these rules are added by "add_file_path" depending on the flag as r or rw.
This is iterated by virDomainDiskDefForeachPath and all found there are added.

That code itself is a unification helper from former "everybody does it
by himself" which is in since 0.8 - so very very long time.

2010-07-19 Daniel P. Berrange

»···Convert all disk backing store loops to shared helper API

»···Update the QEMU cgroups code, QEMU DAC security driver, SELinux

»··· Convert over to use virDomainDiskDefForeachPath()

2010-07-19 Daniel P. Berrange

»···There is duplicated code which iterates over disk backing stores

»···* src/conf/domain_conf.c, src/conf/domain_conf.h,

»···  src/libvirt_private.syms: Add virDomainDiskDefForeachPath()

Never the less, since this is just calling this helper and adds a rule for each
I wonder if it just means the helper as upstream has a bug.

virt-aa-helper even calls it with ignoreOpenFailure, which should not-
ignore those with open issues (e.g. on some dynamically created block
devices like nbd).

The definition reads as if it should work the way we expect it:
/* Call iter(disk, name, depth, opaque) for each element of disk and

 * its backing chain in the pre-populated disk->src.backingStore.

 * ignoreOpenFailure determines whether to warn about a chain that

 * mentions a backing file without also having metadata on that

 * file.  */

If your case is a case that proves an error in that maybe tracing the
flow through virDomainDiskDefForeachPath in your setup would make a good
upstream bug report?

Not 100% sure yet, what do you think Simon?

[Bug 1658635] Re: RTC? test time-out (linux 4.9.0-12.13 ADT test failure with linux 4.9.0-12.13)

2017-01-23 Thread Colin Ian King
I suspect this is because the test is doing a blocking read on /dev/rtc*
and the test will block until 1 second wakeups get triggered. In this
case, it seems like the RTC_UIE_ON ioctl did not trigger the wakeup or
the wakeup didn't fire on the VM and the ADT test timeout out after 4
hrs.

[Bug 1658653] [NEW] Ypbind service fails to start on system bootup [race condition]

2017-01-23 Thread Jakub
Public bug reported:

Ypbind service does not start after system bootup.
The systemctl command reports that the nis is running, but there is no ypbind
process on the system.

When I switch the ypbind to debug mode, I get following logs:

Jan 23 09:21:15 gklab-81-069 nis[743]: 796: parsing config file
Jan 23 09:21:15 gklab-81-069 nis[743]: 796: Trying entry: domain

Jan 23 09:21:15 gklab-81-069 nis[743]: 796: [Welcome to ypbind-mt, version

receive; errno = Connection refused
Jan 23 09:21:15 gklab-81-069 nis[743]: 796: Unable to register (YPBINDPROG,
YPBINDVERS, udp).

The system logs show that the nis tries to start before the rpcbind is
initialized:

Jan 23 09:09:21 gklab-81-069 systemd[1]: Listening on RPCbind Server Activation
Socket.
Jan 23 09:09:21 gklab-81-069 systemd[1]: Starting LSB: Start NIS client and
server daemons
Jan 23 09:09:21 gklab-81-069 systemd[1]: Starting RPC bind portmap service...
Jan 23 09:09:21 gklab-81-069 systemd[1]: Started RPC bind portmap service.
Jan 23 09:09:21 gklab-81-069 systemd[1]: Reached target RPC Port Mapper.
Jan 23 09:09:32 gklab-81-069 systemd[1]: Started LSB: Start NIS client and
server daemons..

Adding the dependency to the nis systemd unit config solves the problem:

[Bug 1658633] Re: stress_smoke_test passing and exiting rc=9 (linux 4.9.0-12.13 ADT test failure with linux 4.9.0-12.13)

2017-01-23 Thread Colin Ian King
It is more probable that the mlock (or mmap) or later tests broke the
test and we are just seeing the last PASSED tests that got fflushed to
stdout before the ADT framework terminated.
