[Bug 1496102] Re: Bluetooth connection breaks in a few seconds

2017-01-18 Thread Ferry Toth
This is still an issue with OTA14.

I am a bit disappointed to hear there will not be a OTA15 soon and
possibly even never for this device.

Canonical, do you really think you can be successful in phone/touch if
you give up something basic as bluetooth?

[Bug 1629870] Re: [SRU] Trouble installing mainline kernel 4.8: virtualbox-dkms 5.0.24-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.1: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2017-01-18 Thread Kwang Moo Yi
As in the comments, indeed 5.1 changes too much. It actually has
regression problems with i3wm (which was fixed in one of the versions,
but now back...)

Also 5.0.32 is at the ppa but not in xenial-proposed. :-)

[Bug 1500242] Re: Bluetooth devices (Jabra BT250, Audi A3 car kit) can not be connected with BQ Aquaris 4.5

2017-01-18 Thread Ferry Toth
I have a similar issue with Meizu MX4 which pairs, connects but drops
the connection to the car kit after being connected 2 sec.

This bug hasn't been resolved in 1 1/2 year time and ota5 - ota14
releases. Now we hear that there will not be a ota15 for a long while
and maybe even never for the Meizu and BQ, it looks it will never be
fixed.

I really don't think ubuntu phone has a future it we can't get a simple
thing to work like hands free calling in the car, or playing music over
the car speakers.

[Bug 1026046] Re: Missing support for thumb resting on bottom of clickpad

2017-01-18 Thread jorgens
After struggling with this for a long time I found out that there is a
"new" driver for input devices: libinput, that replaces synaptics. I
followed the install instructions as given here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/649103/proper-touchpad-thumb-palm-
detection-with-libinput

In addition I had to uninstall an older libinput package that had been
installed as a dependency to vlc I think.

Now I got thumb support and multi-touch support out of the box, and the
pointer doesn't jump around on the screen any more when I'm typing.
Hopefully others will find this helpful.

[Bug 1656431] Re: Some KDE applications 16.10 FTbFS with Qt 5.7.1 on arm64 and ppc64el

2017-01-18 Thread Rik Mills
Dmitry Shachnev copied some of the affected packages to a ppa that could
build s390x and depending on Timo's test QT build ppa.

parley & libkeduvocdocument build on s390x seemingly ok.

kidentitymanagement & libkf5kipi are depwaiting there, as they needs a
few other packages from KDE apps 16.12.1 in there before they can build.

So based on those preliminary, but quite limited results, seems that
s390x builds are either not affected by this and a linker change in
Qtbase is not needed, or is somehow of more smaller scope and has not
been shown up by the few that have built.

I would lay bets if forced on the former of those 2, but would not be
putting large sums on it. ;)

[Bug 1655161] Re: VM boots with no connectivity when booting with dual net configuration (ipv4 + ipv6)

2017-01-18 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
TL;DR: working for me, please help understanding your issue by:
1. share your network configuration xmls
2. Try with a recent Ubuntu image to rule out cirros
3. share your guest network config for those interfaces
Note: As it might have been arch specific this test has been done on a Power8E
machine.

Trying to isolate the Qemu net part
Vivid
-netdev tap,fd=23,id=hostnet0
-device
virtio-net-pci,netdev=hostnet0,id=net0,mac=fa:16:3e:bd:8f:4f,bus=pci.0,addr=0x1
-netdev tap,fd=24,id=hostnet1
-device
virtio-net-pci,netdev=hostnet1,id=net1,mac=fa:16:3e:99:c7:71,bus=pci.0,addr=0x2
Xenial
-netdev tap,fd=25,id=hostnet0
-device
virtio-net-pci,netdev=hostnet0,id=net0,mac=fa:16:3e:e9:4a:82,bus=pci.0,addr=0x1
-netdev tap,fd=27,id=hostnet1
-device virtio-net-pci,netdev=hostnet1,id=net1,mac=fa:16:3e:b9:
49:ed,bus=pci.0,addr=0x2

Ok, so all that is the same way.
The TL;DR of this is that id=XX maps it to network XX and the -device defines
how it is represented to the guest.

It would be really useful to see the definition of those networks in your case,
generate via:
$virsh net-dumpxml
$virsh net-dumpxml

I'll try to reproduce anyway - all I know from the bug is one ipv4 one ipv6.
A default would look like:
-netdev tap,fd=27,id=hostnet0,vhost=on,vhostfd=29
-device
virtio-net-pci,netdev=hostnet0,id=net0,mac=52:54:00:6f:13:c8,bus=pci.0,addr=0x1

I also see that you have no vhost accelleration enabled, not
recommended/default IMHO but well, ok I can do so as well.
Random mac, normal virtio pci representation - nothing special at these bits.

You did not state what you do with these networks - so for now I just bridge
them to the host.
Once I see your network config xml that will be more clear.

I set up the following networks:
 hostnet0-ipv4active noyes
 hostnet1-ipv6active noyes

With the definitions being basic, but following your description:
$ cat hostnet0-ipv4.xml

  hostnet0-ipv4

ubuntu@diamond:~/cpaelzer$ cat hostnet1-ipv6.xml

  hostnet1-ipv6

Add the following to my guest to link up to those networks in non vhost mode
(set driver qemu as vhost would be default if available):

Host view:
$ for dev in hostnet0-ipv4 hostnet0pv4-nic hostnet1-ipv6 hostnet1pv6-nic; do ip
addr show dev $dev; done
101: hostnet0-ipv4: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue
state UP group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:98:33:21 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
inet 10.0.21.1/24 brd 10.0.21.255 scope global hostnet0-ipv4
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
102: hostnet0pv4-nic: mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast master
hostnet0-ipv4 state DOWN group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:98:33:21 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
103: hostnet1-ipv6: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue
state UP group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:89:77:1e brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
inet6 2001:db8:ca2:2::1/64 scope global
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 fe80::5054:ff:fe89:771e/64 scope link
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
104: hostnet1pv6-nic: mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast master
hostnet1-ipv6 state DOWN group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:89:77:1e brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

Set up the guest so that it actually cares about those interfaces:
$ cat /etc/network/interfaces.d/51-extra-devs.cfg
auto enp0s7
iface enp0s7 inet dhcp

auto enp0s8
iface enp0s8 inet6 dhcp

It would be nice if you could share your config in /etc/network/* and subdirs.
As well as an output of
$ ip addr
$ ip link

So in my case my networks got ipv4 (plus the default ipv6 mapping) and the
second one ipv6 only.
enp0s7Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:54:00:2d:59:f7

ipv4 routes look sane:

[Bug 1657367] [NEW] Intel-based ethernet interfaces can't detect link state

2017-01-18 Thread squirL
Public bug reported:

I have number of SUN x86-based servers with Intel Ethenet controllers.
Both igb and e1000 drivers are used. All servers have strange issue:
after fresh Ubuntu 16.04 installation all ethernet links are in down
state even if cables are plugged in.

At the network switch side links are in up state!

If i try to manually up the link via ip link tool, all works fine. When
i try to manually assign an IP address to "dead" interface it brings
up... After reboot all links are down again.

Any suggestion?

[Bug 1646583] Re: Ceph mon doesn't restart on reboot with Xenial when using ceph-{mon, osd}@ systemd units

2017-01-18 Thread James Page
** Description changed:

- The ceph monitor and osd daemons do not restart automatically on server
- reboot on Xenial.
+ [Impact]
+ Users of the ceph-osd@ and ceph-mon@ systemd units are not able to reboot
servers; the targets which ensure that daemons managed this way are missing
from the packages. There is also no nice way to restart all ceph daemons on a
machine due to the missing systemd targets.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Install ceph-mon and ceph-osd machines
+ Enable and initialise cluster using ceph-osd@ and ceph-mon@ unit files.
+ Confirm working
+ Reboot machines
+ ceph-mon units will not start automatically after reboot
+ ceph-osd units will start, but only due to udev rule processing
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Minimal; we're introducing the missing targets to the packages; these targets
will be enabled and started on install, and the change to the packaging ensures
that the ceph-mon/mds/create-keys systemd service units
+ provided directly by the packaging are managed as before (not auto enabled
and started).
+
+ [Original Bug Report]
+ The ceph monitor and osd daemons do not restart automatically on server
reboot on Xenial.

This is likely caused by the same clash between upstream target files
and Ubuntu systemd unit files that is noted in [1] but I have opened a
separate bug because I believe the severity of not having Ceph restart
automatically on server reboot is higher severity than not being able to
start/stop all services with one command, which is what is reported in
  [1].

The source of the Ubuntu package [2] does not have the necessary target
files that upstream Ceph added to allow for restart on reboot under this
commit [3] which is included in Ceph's github tag 10.2.2.

the radosgw package as well; minimal risk.

[Bug 1657367] Re: Intel-based ethernet interfaces can't detect link state

2017-01-18 Thread squirL
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected xenial

** Description changed:

I have number of SUN x86-based servers with Intel Ethenet controllers.
Both igb and e1000 drivers are used. All servers have strange issue:
after fresh Ubuntu 16.04 installation all ethernet links are in down
state even if cables are plugged in.

At the network switch side links are in up state!

If i try to manually up the link via ip link tool, all works fine. When
i try to manually assign an IP address to "dead" interface it brings
up... After reboot all links are down again.

  Any suggestion?

[Bug 1657374] [NEW] [v3.2] "import pyassimp" fails in Python

2017-01-18 Thread IsaacS
Public bug reported:

I assume this is fixed in version 3.3 but on Ubuntu Xenial the released
debian package is 3.2, where the following happens.

> 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or
System -> About Ubuntu

$ lsb_release -rd

Expect "import pyassimp" not to cause any errors. On Ubuntu Trusty I
see:

[Bug 1651128] Re: [SRU] walinuxagent 2.2.2

2017-01-18 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ The new version introduces a lot of useful fixes. As with each release,
+ we want to include the latest agent on all of our supported series.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ 1.) Build new cloud image with -purposed package
+ 2.) Boot instance
+ 3.) Confirm that instance provisioned
+ 4.) Run standard tests and regression tests
+ 5.) Repeat from step 2 for all other Azure VM Sizes.
+
+ All the preformed test cases can be found on the dedicated wikipage
+ here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/walinuxagentUpdates
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ As with each new upstream release there is always a risk of regressions,
+ especially when the minor version gets bumped.
+
+ [Original Description]
+
It gives me great pleasure to announce another release for WALA, 2.2.2.
-
- The details are below and the download can be found here:
https://github.com/Azure/WALinuxAgent/releases/tag/v2.2.2
-
+
+ The details are below and the download can be found here:
+
Some of the highlights of this release:
  Azure Stack fix
  RDMA updates
  Multiple fixes
  Enable host plugin
This is enable the agent to communicate with the host for downloading
extensions when all outbound connectivity is blocked. Please note, if the
extension itself requires access out of the VM, such as writing to Azure
storage, this will still be blocked.

Would you be able to package, test and release for 14.04/16.04/16.10,
but before, can can you enable the auto update for wala 2.1.5 in bug?
  thanks :
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/walinuxagent/+bug/1650522

Again, for this release, can auto update be enabled? thanks?

Should you have any issues with 2.2.2 please raise this on Github.

[Bug 1654774] Re: battery informatin displayed incorrectly

2017-01-18 Thread david
Hello , I have tried the latest mainline kernel v4.10-rc3 and the bug is
still there, the battery information is still displayed incorrectly.

** Description changed:

I did a fresh install of ubuntu 16.04.1 on an asus x556uak laptop and
noticed that when connected to AC and the battery is not charging the
system shows the battery icon as discharging , but when the battery has
discharged a little and when connected again it charges, then system
shows the battery icon as connected to AC and charging.

Also I've noticed that all though I have 2 38 Whr cells ubuntu is only
detecting one 38 Whr cell, as if the second one doesn't exist? But maybe
this is not a bug and it switches to secondary battery when the 1st one
  is empty?

[Bug 1656618] Re: Any key pressed opens shutdown dialog (Asus X205TA)

2017-01-18 Thread Taddeo Manzi
Wait, as harryharryharry, I can confirm that mainline kernel
4.9.0-040900.201612111631 works without problems. So the problem is only
present in 4.8 ubuntu line and 4.10, so maybe the problem is caused by some
backported code from mainstream, maybe security patch.
So, could be this change reported in
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/l/linux-hwe-edge/linux-hwe-edge_4.8.0-34.36~16.04.1/changelog

[Bug 1652270] Re: Could not boot into RPi3 with kernel 4.4.0-1038-raspi2

2017-01-18 Thread Burkhard Obergöker
I saw the same here, so I set the packages linux-raspi2 linux-image-raspi2 and
linux-headers-raspi2 to hold (as mentioned above) and reinstalled the last
working kernel 4.4.0-1034:
 dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-4.4.0-1034-raspi2

My test with the latest version 4.4.0-1040 still shows the same bug.

[Bug 295429] Re: pam_ecryptfs.so causes authentication to be slow by unnecessary subsequent unwraps of wrapped-passphrase

2017-01-18 Thread Brendan McCollam
I believe I may be seeing this same (or similar) bug on Ubuntu Ubuntu
16.04.1

Password verification is extremely slow (for sudo, or unlocking gnome-
screensaver), on the order of a minute or more. For example:

$ date
Wed Jan 18 11:19:20 CET 2017
$ sudo date
[sudo] password for bjmc:
Wed Jan 18 11:20:07 CET 2017

I see this entry in /var/log/syslog:

sudo: pam_ecryptfs: pam_sm_authenticate: /home/bjmc is already mounted

Should I open a separate bug report? Is there anything I need to check
first, or include in the bug report?

2017-01-18 Thread Simon Davis
Is it possible to let us know if/when this bug is going to be fixed?
Look, this is not a minor one, we have bricked devices and it happened
via official (automatic) distribution update process. I have never
experienced such a faux pas with another distro in 20+ yrs experience. I
think that a bug of this importance require much higher attention.

[Bug 1274247] Re: [MIR] Glusterfs

2017-01-18 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Just FYI - for now this is a support we drop in libvirt and qemu due to
component mismatches.
Subscribing myself to re-enable once resolved.

[Bug 1657409] [NEW] [MIR] virglrenderer

2017-01-18 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Public bug reported:

Currently not a hard requirement yet, but I believe it could pretty fast
become one.

So I wanted to start the MIR discussion at a lower prio to get a
security evaluation to know the current status when any hard request
comes up.

It was just enabled in Debian, but so far qemu drops this dependency due
to the component mismatch.

[Availability]
- Currently in Universe
- Upstream is at https://virgil3d.github.io/

[Rationale]
- Dependency for qemu's virgl support
- Allow users KVM Guest 3d acceleration independent to GPU passthrough

[Security]
- I could not find any CVEs, but http://seclists.org/oss-sec/2016/q4/711
- Only a lib, no direct callable binaries

[Quality assurance]
- no open bugs at the moment in Ubuntu

[Dependencies]
- All further dependencies from there are in main already (as of today)

[Standards compliance]
- FHS and Debian rules are met

[Maintenance]
- no delta sync from Debian atm
- no owning Team yet (can be decided when other blockers are out of the way)

[Background information]
- So far virgl considers itself still a "research project" so please as I
specified handle this evaluation at a lower prio for now.

** Affects: virglrenderer (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Low
 Status: New

** Changed in: virglrenderer (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => Low
