[Bug 1657024] [NEW] mydomain gets set to "localdomain"

2017-01-17 Thread Alex R
Public bug reported:

I'm on 16.04.1 with postfix 3.1.0-3. This is almost exactly the same bug
that has been reported 8-12 years ago, explained in detail here:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=214741#10 ... which is
exactly what I'm experiencing: $mydomain gets set to "localdomain" if my
hostname is a single word (Ubuntu default) instead of a fqdn, unless I
force mydomain= in main.cf

My host+mailname are configured as recommended by Ubuntu, and the
postfix config is pretty default. The above upstream debian bug says it
was fixed in v2.11, but I'm not sure ...

# postconf | grep ^mydomain
mydomain = localdomain

and then in turn:
# postconf | grep ^myhostname

Here are my configs:

# cat /etc/hosts
7x.xx.xxx.100   lin.foodomain.com lin
127.0.0.1   localhost loopback
127.0.1.1   ubuntu

[Bug 1542733] Re: Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi Network, "Connect" grayed out

2017-01-17 Thread Glenn Moloney
Thank you Sebastien for assigning this to Aron to resolve!! Reading one
of the URL's you supplied about the issue
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=597839 ) where Beniamino
Galvani has already created a patch / fix. Not being a developer is
there any way we can test this patch that Beniamino created which may
assist Aron if he can't look at the issue in the short term? Even
directing to instructions on how to apply the patch? Was hoping to have
the issue resolved before the 16.04.2 release scheduled this week. I
realise this won't happen now but I'm sure most of us that have
experienced the issue would like to have this issue fix this sooner
rather than later. Cheers.

[Bug 1632165] Re: modesetting driver unbearably slow on intel graphics

2017-01-17 Thread Matthew Wodrich
I ran into this issue as well, and switching from the modesetting driver
back to the intel driver in xorg.conf has helped tremendously. I went
from 15.10 through 16.04 (which was entirely broken for me, something
involving compiz I think) to 16.10, which worked, but had terrible
graphical performance. As for my hardware, I'm on an Acer Aspire v7,
using an Intel Haswell i7-4500U with HD Graphics 4400 (there's also an
nvidia GT750M, but I selected intel with prime-select, otherwise I get a
login loop). Running with the modesetting drivers, I found compiz
regularly had 5 processes going, each reporting as using 30% of a core,
and any sort of animation was unbearably choppy. I even had lag on the
lockscreen. I found that in the Xorg.0.log, it said:

[ 8.690] (II) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI2 capable
[ 8.690] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
[ 8.785] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_MESA_copy_sub_buffer
[ 8.786] (II) AIGLX: Loaded and initialized swrast
[ 8.786] (II) GLX: Initialized DRISWRAST GL provider for screen 0

while with only changing to the intel driver, I see:

[ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_MESA_copy_sub_buffer
[ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_ARB_create_context

[Bug 1657037] [NEW] totem should not claim to be able to open pdfs

2017-01-17 Thread Bas Zoetekouw
Public bug reported:

For some dumb reason, thunderbird is opening pdfs with totem instead of
a decent pdf reader.

I'm aware I can override and configure all this in Thunderbid, but IMO
the default should Just Work.

I don't have the patience atm to weed through all the xdg-open and mime
and .desktop-files spaghetti shit to figure out why the f*ck a
mediaplayer would ever be the default to open a pdf when decent pdf
readers are available on my system, but I'm pretty sure totem is at
fault here for announcing to the system somewhere that it is able to
handle pdfs.

[Bug 1632165] Re: modesetting driver unbearably slow on intel graphics

2017-01-17 Thread Robert weaver
When I raised this back in August, I could not resolve the performance either
with Ubuntu drivers or Intel. It just seemed upping the kernel from 4.6
upwards stopped the performance. You don't have to upgrade to 16.10 to see the
issue.
Any way tried to upgrade 4 weeks ago incase the issue had resolved it's self
with kernel 4.9 and nope it's still there.
 Original bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-vaapi-driver/+bug/1612863

Currently back on kernel 4.6 everything is good again.

the best fix but it got the system running. basically, the system never
worked properly and I eventually had to give up and I have been using an

[Bug 1657043] [NEW] ipv6 nd rdnss [address] causes no such command error

2017-01-17 Thread Richard Neighbour
Public bug reported:

>From what I can make from quagga mailing lists the router advertisement
feature was enhanced to allow DNS servers to be specified as per RFC5006
some time around release 0.99.13.

This does not appear to be supported by the version in the yakkity
repository (1.0.20160315). Does anyone know if this an optional feature
that's not been compiled or is it still in development, or if it should
be working and I'm screwing up somewhere? :-)

In zebra.conf this should apparently work:

interface ens123
  ipv6 address 2001:etc
  no ipv6 nd suppress-ra
  ipv6 nd prefix 2001:etc:blah::/64
  ipv6 nd rdnss 2001:etc:blah::123

What actually happens is it errors with
*** Error reading config: There is no such command.
*** Error occured processing line 37, below:
 ipv6 nd rdnss 2001:etc:blah:123

I guess I'll be having a play with radvd and DHCPv6 in the mean time...

/R

[Bug 1577161] Re: Please update Xenial and Willy to 1.5.2-1 (support mixed-stepping configurations)

2017-01-17 Thread Henrique de Moraes Holschuh
Please update all still-supported Ubuntu releases to iucode-tool v1.5.2
+ CVE-2017-0357 patch, or preferably to iucode-tool v2.1.1.

Updating to iucode-tool v2.1.1 will fix:
* CVE-2017-0357 - fixed in v2.1.1
* Incorrect handling of mixed-stepping systems (one of the two processor
steppings *would not be updated* resulting in an unsupported runtime situation)
- fixed in v1.5.2
* Memory usage - fixed in v1.6.1
* Reproducible build of the early-initramfs - fixed in v2.0
* Corrupted early-initramfs after y2038 issue - fixed in v2.1.

It is not an issue in intel-microcode, but rather a kernel defect. It
has to be fixed by an updated kernel (and likely it has already been

[Bug 1657072] [NEW] AMD Radeon RX 480 support

2017-01-17 Thread Dave Lambley
Public bug reported:

Using kernel 4.4.0, the system doesn't appear to detect the AMD Radeon
RX 480 graphics card and reverts to VESA mode.

Upgrading to kernel 4.8.0-32 through xenial-updates does not fix the
problem, instead the system hangs after a few seconds of showing the
login screen in VESA mode.

Mainline kernels 4.9.0-040900, 4.10.0-041000rc3 and 4.10.0-041000rc4
work as expected.

[Bug 1657016] Re: Desktop icons zoom automatically if folder icons are zoomed

2017-01-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1590799] Re: nfs-kernel-server does not start because of dependency failure

2017-01-17 Thread dave
Same here! Running 16.04.1 (with all packages updated) and nfs still
fails to start after reboot and returns the familiar dependency error
message.

I've the workaround suggest by Thomas Runge with great success. So
thanks for that Thomas!

Strangely, this bug is open for more than 7 months now... when is it
going to be fixed in the core?

[Bug 1656280] Re: Support installing subordinate systemd on Ubuntu Desktop 14.04.5

2017-01-17 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Updated description to match the latest state of affairs.

** Description changed:

- Add support for installing subordinate systemd for snappy on Ubuntu
- Desktop 14.04.5
+ Add support for installing deputy systemd for snapd on Ubuntu Desktop
+ 14.04.5

- When installed, superseeds systemd-shim support functionality by:
- * Providing necessary units for power management
- * Replicating systemd-shim timedated support functionality in timedated
itself (thus dropping systemd-shim dependency from timedated code)
-
- Bugfixes to cgmanager codepath for compatibility with lxc:
- * free NULL bug fix
- * fix cg_attach for subordinate systemd
+ When installed, deputy systemd provides a subset of functionality as required
for snapd:
+ * Providing necessary units for power management via systemctl
+ * Provides private socket API access (and thus systemctl as root) only, and
is not present on the system D-Bus
+ * Does not conflict with systemd-shim
+ * Does not change behaviour of systemd-services nor udeb build in anyway

  [Impact]

- * Users can install snapd without regressing Desktop support,
+  * Users can install snapd without regressing Desktop support,
  lxc/lxc1/lxd abilities.

  [Test Case]

-  * Power management works (e.g. shutdown/reboot via indicator-system)
+  * Power management works (e.g. shutdown/reboot via indicator-system and
+ via systemctl)

- * Timedatectl commands report NTP status enable/disabled correctly, and
+  * Timedatectl commands report NTP status enable/disabled correctly, and
  can change it

- * Can install and use snapd
+  * Can install and use snapd

-  * Can install and use lxc / lxc1 / lxd
+  * Can install and use lxc / lxc1 / lxd

  [Regression Potential]

- * Installing snapd will pull in cgmanager and bin:systemd on the
- desktop, superseding systemd-shim. Thus things that rely on systemd-shim
- implementations may regress.
+  * Minimal, as bin:systemd uses a separate build in the package with
+ additional patches to not intefere with cgmanager's name=systemd cgroup;
+ and instead deputy bin:systemd uses name=dsystemd cgroup for process
+ management.

[Bug 1293099] Re: Password needs to be entered twice after switching users

2017-01-17 Thread Rostislav Kandilarov
Similar situation with me, I've installed Ubuntu 16.04 after that
installed the meta-package for lubuntu and both "gnome-screensaver" and
"light-locker" were active.

When using lxde/lxqt in some cases (as closing laptop lid, etc.) gnome-
screensaver overlaps the light-locker screen and asks for password. What
is more - gnome-screensaver does not accept as correct the password :(.

Removing gnome-screensaver seems to do the trick.

Video depicting the issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHeuYdz2hCI

Seems that if you double click on a menu of the focused application and
by chance the window titlebar of the non focused application below is in
the same position, the double click will get through and maximize the
non focused window.

does not look like a 404 error from a mirror due to a misquoted URL, but
once I sudo apt install apt-transport-https, I'll probably be seeing the

[Bug 797485] Re: SRU: Status Bar Covers File Name at Bottom

2017-01-17 Thread D H
I don't understand why you would get rid of the status bar in the first
place. It would be much better to just leave the older status bar and
have the option for the new overlay bit. You just have a check box
defaulted to the new system and us old timers who are set in our ways
can go in and click the box turning on the status bar.

I have no problem with new things but when you take away things people
have used for years you end up ticking off the people whom have
supported your software for years.

[Bug 1657085] [NEW] Submenus don't open on mouse hover

In Unity 7 if you leave the mouse over a menu item that has children
(e.g. in firefox View -> Page Size) the submenu opens in some time

I'm not sure exactly what is happening, but I suspect is needs something
like the following in some other method. (from lp:qtmir

void WindowManagementPolicy::resize(const miral::Window &window, const Size
size)
{
miral::WindowSpecification modifications;
modifications.size() = size;
m_tools.invoke_under_lock([&window, &modifications, this]() {
try {
m_tools.modify_window(m_tools.info_for(window), modifications);
} catch (const std::out_of_range&) {
// usually shell trying to operate on a window which already
closed, just ignore
// TODO: MirSurface extends the miral::Window lifetime by holding a
shared pointer to
// the mir::scene::Surface, meaning it cannot detect when the
window has been closed

[Bug 1655906] Re: Please upgrade docker.io to latest 1.12.6

2017-01-17 Thread Christian Brauner
Right, afaict this is caused by
https://github.com/opencontainers/runc/commit/5d93fed3d27f1e2bab58bad13b180a7a81d0b378
. Marking the process as undumpable requires that the caller has
CAP_SYS_PTRACE in the target process user namespace. If not, then any
file-opening operations on /proc// (e.g. readlink()) will be
denied. This is exactly what getPipeFds() is trying to do. This leads to
the error you see above. There's another PR floating around that will
complicate things even when CAP_SYS_PTRACE is available
(https://github.com/opencontainers/runc/pull/1274). But I need to take a
closer look.
