2017-01-06 Thread Adrianna Pińska
I have tested installation of the proposed overlay-scrollbar package
together with both the amd64 and i386 versions of the overlay-scrollbar-
gtk2 package, and was able to install both successfully.

[Bug 1653012] Re: RTL8821AE doesn't work after some minutes.

2017-01-06 Thread hotellina
I tried with the latest upstream kernel 4.10 rc2 and I still have
problems with uploading the file to my FTP, same issues nothing
changed.

The upload is very slow and eventually stops.

Also, I noticed how the uploaded bytes in Filezilla stops from
incrementing as to indicate an intermittent issue with the connection
itself.

While the upload is in progress and if at the same time I request a page
from Firefox from the Internet I have to wait a lot in order to load the
page.

It looks like the whole connection is screwed while uploading the file with
Filezilla.
Things don't change if I change FTP server and go for an external one.

I can post a video of the issue on Youtube, I'll do that later on.

Cheers,

hotellina

Public bug reported:

it's missing. Here's the full error message:

[Bug 1646583] Re: Ceph mon and osd don't restart on reboot with Xenial

2017-01-06 Thread James Page
I agree that there is a behavioural difference between the systemd
configurations provided by upstream, and the systemd configuration in
distro (and the reason why is outlined in bug 1627640).

Services not restarting post reboot is not something I've seen
(deploying using charms which don't do anything specific with regards to
systemd configurations).

Can you confirm which systemd service is used for the ceph-mon's in ceph
ansible? I think this is most likely the cause - the vanilla ceph-mon
service provided by the Ubuntu and Debian packaging should automatically
startup on reboots, but I'm not 100% sure about the ceph-mon@ version
provided by upstream packages.

FYI I've applied this patch in the usr.sbin.tcpdump profile included in
Debian's apparmor-profiles-extra 1.11. And I intend to have this profile
moved to the tcpdump package proper at the beginning of the Debian 10

[Bug 1646583] Re: Ceph mon and osd don't restart on reboot with Xenial

2017-01-06 Thread James Page
I switch a ceph-mon unit over to use the ceph-mon@ unit instead; looks
like that won't work well:

Created symlink from /etc/systemd/system/ceph-mon.target.wants/ceph-mon
@juju-0f0ab8-ceph-testing-0.service to /lib/systemd/system/ceph-
mon@.service.

as the ceph-mon target does not exist. We could introduce the targets
into the packaging but I'm unsure of the systemd behaviour with units
and targets of the same names.

[Bug 1646583] Re: Ceph mon and osd don't restart on reboot with Xenial

2017-01-06 Thread James Page
OK did a quick sanity check using charm; the ceph-mon daemon is managed
using the distro provided ceph-mon systemd unit (not the upstream
provided ceph-mon@ systemd unit); ceph-osd are managed in the standard
way and do restart OK on reboot - specification I think the udev events
that happen on boot trigger the OSD to startup independently of any top
level system targets.

[Bug 1646583] Re: Ceph mon and osd don't restart on reboot with Xenial

2017-01-06 Thread James Page
OK so making the assumption that the ceph-ansible tooling relies on the
ceph-mon@ units, I can confirm that a ceph-mon process is not
automatically started on reboot.

This is a bit of a misalignment between ceph provided packaging and
what's in ubuntu and debian (due to historical introduction of systemd
support in Debian prior to upstream ceph).

[Bug 1607535] Re: ttf-mscorefonts-installer 3.4+nmu1ubuntu2 fails to install core fonts and should be updated to version 3.6 from Debian

2017-01-06 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I just installed the .deb file from debian
(https://packages.debian.org/jessie/all/ttf-mscorefonts-
installer/download) and it worked without any issues. I used gdebi on
the terminal, but I don't see why it shouldn't work with the software
center installer.

Since the package from Debian works, why is it not just pushed to the
repositories as is?

Unfortunately no changes ... same behavior ...

But i notice something strange ... if i boot some of this corrupt
kernels that crash and then restart with the Magic SysRQ into a "good"
kernel ...this kernel crashes at the same point.

Another Magic SysRQ or a cold start let boot the "good" kernel normal.

The affected kernels will boot in no kind ... neither cold start, warm
start / reboot or minutes without power ...

[Bug 1654392] Re: growisofs -speed parameter has no effect

2017-01-06 Thread Thomas Schmitt
Hi,

did you already try -speed=1 in order to get the lowest possible speed ?

-

The growisofs function to set the speed
  set_speed_B6h
in

https://sources.debian.net/src/dvd%2Brw-tools/7.1-11.1/growisofs_mmc.cpp/#L1090
is quite complicated. It inquires the drive for the list of available
write speeds and inquires the current write speed.

If a speed was selected by program option (i.e. speed_factor != 0.0) then
it looks for the smallest offered write speed and begins to divide and
multiply. Then it looks for the offered speed which is closest to the
calculated value.
This obviously goes a wrong path by yielding "16.4x1352KBps" rather than
"12.3x1352KBps". (The display computation divides the KB/s number of effective
speed by the KiB/s number of 1x DVD speed. It should rather divde by 1385.)

One would have to watch in set_speed_B6h() the life of variables
"speed_factor", "minv", "targetv", and "velocity", to find out what
exactly goes wrong.

Maybe the computations are even ok and the drive just does not obey.

-

If you look for an alternative to growisofs, then consider cdrskin or
xorriso personality xorrecord, which are better suitable for DVD and BD
than wodim and also not dead yet. (I am their upstream developer. If they
cannot set the speed either then we'd have some chance to find out why.)

Have a nice day :)

Thomas

I'll do some testing around running with targets and units of the same
name to ensure we don't regress tools which use the older, debian
provided systemd units; if that works OK for zesty, we can SRU the
target file updates back to xenial as well.

[Bug 1357880] Re: /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/dhclient needs updated regex

2017-01-06 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi,
I came by seeing the xenial update - this stalled for a while, but IMHO the
reason is for being
a) "only" warning (yet that is the whole purpose of logwatch)
b) present in upstream and Debian as well

This bug is present in Debian too. So it would be best fixed in Debian,
and then Ubuntu will pick it up on the next merge.

So I wanted to ask, would you mind filing a bug with Debian please?
If one could write a sample regex to add even better.

2017-01-06 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Thank you for your report.

>From the log:
2017-01-05 09:34:00 57613 [ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: unknown variable
'log_slow_queries=/var/log/mysql/mysql-slow.log'

This is a config that the newer server doesn't understand anymore.
Deprecated in 5.1 IIRC
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/server-options.html#option_mysqld_log-slow-queries
But it just has a new name.
You'd have to adapt your config and retry.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than
configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us
to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu.

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1653499] Re: libvirt display error after restart driver

I'd quote something from that thread that I agree to for us I think:
"Up to now our position has been that this problem should be fixed in

Therefore adding libnl task.

Also in the past this was very driver specific to ixgbe.

2017-01-06 Thread Michel-Ekimia
** Description changed:

We all know the Web support of an operating system is becoming more and
  more important for users.

The situation right now in terms of browser Performance and power
consumption of GNU/Linux is not really in a good shape compared to the 2
other competitors : Windows and Mac OSX.

Windows 10 : Microsoft has shown how its integrated browser is more
efficient and less hungry on power consumption than other browsers.

Mac OSX: Safari is also showing a great power consumption and integrated
  features.

[Bug 1595427] Re: Error changing container access

Question: are you using the Ceph packages for Jewel provided by the Ceph

question best asked on the ceph development mailing list - I've run
OpenStack Liberty clouds with RADOSGW for some time and have not seen
this issue.

2017-01-06 Thread James Page
The ML thread did not appear to actually go anywhere, and I'm reticent

of ceph startup IMHO).

[Bug 1357880] Re: /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/dhclient needs updated regex

2017-01-06 Thread Thorsten Rhau
Since it was over two years ago that this bug was filed by me I have given up
on getting it fixed upstream.
Thank you

Marking as 'Opinion' for now; unless upstream decides to change
approach, I don't want to diverge.

[Bug 1652270] Re: Could not boot into RPi3 with kernel 4.4.0-1038-raspi2

2017-01-06 Thread Anthony Somerset
for those that are are in the unbeatable state - the way to recover
without data loss pending fixed kernel

either mount the ubuntu raspberry pi image or write it to another SD
card, copy the files from the small boot partition (i did all to be
safe) e.g. boot.scr vmlinuz etc to a folder on your machine or better
still to the sd card of the failing install and overwrite the original
files (take a backup first) - this will allow you to reboot into the
older kernel and to properly cleanup the 1038 version until its fixed

[Bug 1654315] Re: awscli now depends on python3-botocore >= 1.4

2017-01-06 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Can't be seen on a system that ran global updates, but makes sens if
only awscli is updated/installed and still on the release.

I flagged critical for the risk of loosing logins.

Release came out with
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/yakkety/amd64/python3-botocore/1.3.23-1

I was not part of that work, but as far as I understand it that seems to be a
regression of the SRU that was made.

[Bug 1652270] Re: Could not boot into RPi3 with kernel 4.4.0-1038-raspi2

2017-01-06 Thread Simon Davis
I did not have to issue apt install linux-*. In my case, apt update &&
apt dist-upgrade was enough to break the system as a new kernel had been
installed automatically. Some people reported that apt update followed
with apt upgrade break it too. This makes a big difference as the impact
of the bug will be much higher in the near future.

It is a nasty bug when you break the system in the process of taking
care of it using distribution's fundamental tools. Moreover, if you are
successful hot-fixing it, the system cannot be subjected to updates /
upgrades since then.

Does anybody know of a better fix than copying the backed up files over
the new ones?
