[Bug 925405] Re: VNC server does not work with Mac Screen Sharing

2016-12-29 Thread Dave Eckhardt
FWIW, this affects me too.

Ubuntu 14.04
QEMU emulator version 2.0.0 (Debian 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.30), Copyright (c)
2003-2008 Fabrice Bellard
OS X 10.9.5.

The observed behavior is that when I hit "Connect" a spinning circle
appears nearby but nothing else ever happens.

There are reports online:

2016-12-29 Thread dino99
Package upgrade is needed

autofs (5.1.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release [June 2016] (Closes: #846054).
  * Build with "--disable-mount-locking" (Closes: #721331).
  * service: fixed path to "kill" utility (Closes: #785563).
  * Modernised and converted Vcs URLs to HTTPS.
  * Standards-Version: 3.9.8.
  * Removed myself from Uploaders.

[Bug 1653066] [NEW] Drag and drop from browser has lost functionality

2016-12-29 Thread ioribranf...@gmail.com
Public bug reported:

Lubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
pcmanfm 1.2.4-1

1. Open a pcmanfm window
2. Open any web browser
3. Try to drag and drop any element from browser (image, link, selected text)
onto any part of pcmanfm window

On the file list: No effect. The element should be saved as a file.
On the places list: Dragged element is lost as soon as it hovers over. It
should be possible to drop it into a place and save it as a file there.
On the path bar: Pasted as a URL or text. Makes sense as the path bar is a text
field.

** Affects: pcmanfm (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1480673] Re: [ELAN 3320KD-3100] Asus T300 CHI bluetooth Touchpad is recognized incorrectly

2016-12-29 Thread er453r
I can confirm this too, on 16.10 and 4.8 kernel. The touchpad gets
detected as a mouse by udevd and libinput configures it as a mouse. Any
workarounds for this? To trick udev, that it is a trackpad? I'm afraid
this is a kernel issue, not Ubuntu/xorg :/

2016-12-29 Thread Vincent Gerris
Hi Andrew,

That is great to read, thank you for reporting back!
In the mean time, this patch is in the discussion list with some kernel
developers.
It may be that although the patch works, it is not the best way to work around
the issue and it may not even have something to do with the errata reported.

In the mean time someone from intel added a patch here:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109051
to re-enable auto-demotion.

At least one user reported success already.
I highly recommend everyone reading this to give that patch a try.
I will try to put a kernel up in the coming weekend that people can test.

If that is a fix, it is very likely to end up in the kernel main line.
Please share your experience and thank you :)
 - Vincent

[Bug 1652791] Re: Evince PDF doesn't print, yet Writer prints just fine

2016-12-29 Thread Martin Vysny
Thank you for your reply! I think Evince cannot know which settings are
"bad" - this should be the job of maybe CUPS or the printer driver. So
I'm not sure how Evince can help here... Of course Evince can implement
a workaround for this:

1. remember the printing settings per printer;
2. Add a button to the printing dialog which resets the settings to the default
values.

Thanks again, and all the best in 2017 ;)

[Bug 1580123] Re: xrandr --scale (again) confines mouse to native solution

2016-12-29 Thread fish
I'm willing to spend some time on this but really don't know how to
proceed. Last comment on the upstream bug says 'Egbert', whoever that
is, will discuss this on the dev mailing list. I don't know what that
involves.. I mean I can also drop a mail to the list and say please,
please include this patch but given how many people are involved in the
issue who know more than me about this issue that seems silly.. Still,
if you think that's the way to go I can just ping the mailing list.

Fwiw, I was able to build new debs like this:

- Download patch from https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=94929
- apt-get source xserver-xorg-core
- cd xorg-server-1.18.3
- quilt import that-downloaded.patch
- quilt push
- dch -n
- debuild -b -uc -us

Will see if it fixes the issue for me.

[Bug 1653094] [NEW] apt-helper fails on urls with space

2016-12-29 Thread Peder Stray
Public bug reported:

ttf-mscorefonts-installer tries to download

download-file.

That url redirects to
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/corefonts/the%20fonts/final/andale32.exe,
a url containting a space (%20), witch it seems apt-helper doesn't
handle well, as it ends up with

to the space in the redirected url.

[Bug 1651233] Re: Inconsistent terminology for USB flash drive

2016-12-29 Thread Chris Perry
@Gunnar. When the status is set to Opinion this bug drops off the list
of ubuntu-docs bugs. I think the bug is worth keeping in mind. Can we
set the status so that it stays on the list? Personally I'd set status =
Triaged, importance = Low.

If I update a page for other reasons I may as well make the correction.
For example, I need to update disk-format.page and I notice that disk-
format.page manages to use "USB memory stick" and "USB flash drive".

It does work. The input URL you pass to it must not be encoded, though.

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/corefonts/the%20fonts/final/andale32.exe

will be encoded to

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/corefonts/the%2520fonts/final/andale32.exe

(the % is encoded as %25) and that causes things to fail.

[Bug 1651923] Re: apt https method decodes redirect locations and sends them to the destination undecoded.

2016-12-29 Thread Julian Andres Klode
The problem is: the http methods URL-encodes URLs before sending them,
the https one does not. And our redirecting code decodes the locations
given, because the http method encodes them.

This is of course horribly broken: We should not decode the location and
re-encode it in the first place. That said, we can't fix this right now,
so a simple work around for this issue is probably to just do the
quoting in the https method as well.

I hope we can get rid of the https method, and just add TLS support to
our own method - that will get rid of a lot of problems with the https
one.

libunique-1.0-0 1.1.6-5. lxsession depends now on libunique-1.0-0 which
depends on dbus-x11 which causes the desktop session of my user to spawn
an additional dbus-launch and dbus-daemon process. I remember that some
package depended already on dbus-x11 all the time but allowed to select
from multiple dependencies (for example dbus-user-session which causes
not these processes to spawn). Maybe these alternatives are compatible
with libunique-1.0-0 too and can be provided as alternatives too.
Otherwise maybe this problem can be solved from lxsession but I'm not
sure how much it requires libunique-1.0-0 and if for example
libunique-1.0-0 could be moved from Depends to Recommends.

[Bug 1643978] Re: hv_set_ifconfig creates corrupt file for multiple interfaces

2016-12-29 Thread Yonatan Amir
I can't test this with the mainline kernel without a matching linux-
cloud-tools build. It does however reproduce with 4.4.0-57-generic. I
forgot to mention in the description that this is when there are
multiple NICs with static IPv4 addresses.

This bug is triggered when upgrading up to date xenial to yakkety, so should be
showstopper priority.

[Bug 1653132] [NEW] Black screen log in after upgrade to 16.10 (coming from 14.04) when using nouveau. Same issue if I use the 3rd parties drivers from NVIDIA.

2016-12-29 Thread Desnes Augusto Nunes do Rosário
Public bug reported:

I finally had the time to upgrade my Sony vaio SVF15N17CXB from Ubuntu
14.04 to Ubuntu 16.10. The nouveau and also the nvidia drivers use to
work perfectly on ubuntu 14.04, but neither work properly on 16.10.

lspci | grep "3D\|VGA"
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 09)
04:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK208M [GeForce GT 735M] (rev a1)

When booting, I hear the log in sound but the screen is just black. In
order to actually get a screen I can add 'nomodeset' to the kernel line
(not always works) or also use the advanced options to ubuntu ->
recovery mode -> resume normal boot (always works). If the system
hibernates or if I lock the screen, black screen.

I already found similar bugs online and found an infinite amount of
suggestions (e.g. http://askubuntu.com/questions/760374/ubuntu-16-04
-nvidia-driver-blank-screen) but I didn't find nothing really
conclusive. Moreover, I also tried IRC at the #ubuntu and #nvidia
channels a couple of months ago, but didn't had any luck with the
information I received. Back then, I was advised to try installing the
new nvidia drivers by hand, but that didn't work (had to format it
afterwards). Nvidia's driver's get installed works ... but then it
suddenly crashes, or it gives me the black screen eventually. Basically,
after a lot of formating I am reaching the conclusion that some
important X code was removed from the version 14.04 to 16.10.

Lastly, I also dual boot with Windows 8.1, which is working fine, thus
my hardware is ok.

[Bug 1653136] [NEW] Unity is not always respecting key map

2016-12-29 Thread Martin Račák
Public bug reported:

How to reproduce:

1. Swap Esc and Caps Lock either in gnome-tweak-tool or running "setxkbmap
-option caps:swapescape".
2. Press and hold Atl + Tab (application overview is displayed).
3. Press Caps Lock key (remapped to Esc now).

Expected behavior: Cancel the Alt + Tab application overview without switching
to any window.
Actual behavior: Window overview stays open. However, pressing Esc cancels the
application overview without switching to any window as if it wasn't remapped,
but Caps Lock is toggled.

Analogous behavior in window spread view - Super + W, possibly
elsewhere. Workaround: https://github.com/oblitum/caps2esc

[Bug 1552551] Re: Dell CERC Adapter hangs temporarily until reset. REGRESSION

2016-12-29 Thread Jon Schewe
I have a Dell PowerEdge 1800 with Dell CERC 1.5/6ch RAID controller in
it. Everything worked fine under Ubuntu 14.04.1. When I upgraded to
16.04.1 the system won't boot. It can't find the root filesystem. I see
errors about host adapter dead on the screen many times. This is with
kernel 4.4.0-57 and with 4.8.0-32. When I switch back to kernel
3.13.0-105 the system boots just fine.

Using intel_iommu=on doesn't help.

I have mptbios 5.06.04.
The CERC card says bios version 4.1-0 [Build 7403]

I can't figure out how to upgrade the firmware or BIOS on the system
from Ubuntu either.

2016-12-29 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

Could you elaborate a bit on how this bug occured, did it happen during
upgrades or when installing new packages? The reason I'm asking is that
it looks like the file in question (/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/qt5/plugins/libpmdummybackendplugin.so) is in both libkpmcore4 [1]
and an older version of partitionmanager [2]. But it looks like the file
has been removed (moved here?) from newer versions of partitionmanager
[3]. So if it happens during upgrade, it might be that libkpmcore4 is
added before partitionmanager has been upgraded to the newer version...

>When I take a look at url
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kpmcore/2.2.1-2), I see stories
about unstable packages.

In Debian, new packages are uploaded to "unstable" before they move to
"testing" and eventually "stable". Development verisons of Ubuntu mainly
sync from Debian unstable, so maybe that is what you're seeing.

[Bug 1653144] [NEW] Trac still use deprecated and removed live function of jquery

2016-12-29 Thread David Girault
Public bug reported:

When loading our http://example.com/trac/browser/ repository browsing
page, there is a javascript error in keyboard_nav.js.

According to JQuery documentation, the live function is deprecated since
1.7 and removed since 1.9. But installed libjs-jquery is version 1.11.3
!

This error result in no other 'ready' function executed and so expanding
folder in browser did not work!

[Bug 1388532] Re: Ark fails to produce zip archive instead making gzip with the zip suffix

2016-12-29 Thread Richard Rasker
Almost 2017, and the bug is still not fixed (also Mint 17.3).

Can someone perhaps explain the steps how I can try and contribute to a
fix? No, I'm not much of a software developer (I'm an electronics
engineer), but this should be fairly easy to solve.

If I understand correctly, it has been fixed for several other
distributions, but I have no overview about what versions are included
in what Linux distributions.

TIA,

Richard Rasker

2016-12-29 Thread David Blackburn
Hello. I had a similar problem with my Xubuntu 14.04 LTS:

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I think the problem is, that a new version of the xfce4-datetime-plugin
(Version 0.7.0-1) was installed, that depends on xfce4-panel=4.12.1-2.

I solved it this way:

sudo apt-cache madison ^xfce4-datetime-plugin

to look for available versions of the datetime-plugin.

xfce4-panel --version

to check which version of the panel is installed. It was for me:
xfce4-panel 4.11.0 (Xfce 4.10).

Then i did a:

sudo apt-get install xfce4-datetime-plugin=0.6.2-1ubuntu2

to install the older version of the datetime-plugin.

And everything seems to work now. I'm not sure if this was the real
problem, but:

sudo apt-get install or sudo apt-get -f install

now returns no errors.

[Bug 1508064] Re: nm-openvpn IPV6 problem with AAAA only record

2016-12-29 Thread Martin List-Petersen
It goes further.

If the desktop/laptop only has IPv6 (no IPv4 connectivity) nm-openvpn
tries to connect to the IPv4 host and fails, disregardless, that an
record is available and reachable.

Essentially, nm-openvpn does not allow for tcp6-client or udp6-client to
be configured or to be autoselected. If IPv6 connectivity is available
and an record for the OpenVPN Server is in place, tcp6-client or
udp6-client should be tried/initiated first with fallback to tcp-client
/udp-client.

If no IPv6 connectivity is available, then trying tcp6-client/udp6-client is
not needed.
If no IPv4 connectivity is available, then trying tcp-client/udp-client is not
needed.

It has either to be autoguessed (like the Android OpenVPN app does) or
be configurable. As it is now, nm-openvpn does neither.

[Bug 1643362] Re: GPU lockup with radeon driver and ATI R9 280X card

2016-12-29 Thread undefined
may i suggest, based on your symptom (ie southern islands gpu lockup in
tf2; you're fortunate that a gpu reset is successful unlike me), that
you look at bug #1652486.

after rebuilding mesa with the upstream patch applied (see patch in
aforementioned bug report) and installing the resulting packages
(specifically libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 as tf2 is i386 even on amd64, but
also dependencies and associated packages) tf2 no longer prompts a gpu
lockup (even after hours of game play, where it use to occur in under 10
minutes).

[Bug 1552551] Re: Dell CERC Adapter hangs temporarily until reset. REGRESSION

2016-12-29 Thread Jon Schewe
Christopher,

I tried to file a bug report and it won't let me. I can't boot into the
4.4.0 kernel, so I can't file a bug report from that version and it
appears that I can't file the bug report from my 3.13.0 kernel either.

I guess one quick way forward, rather than repeat the whole bisecting
process, is to completely reset the repository, bring it up to date,
verify the bug still exists, and then revert this specific commit and
see if the bug goes away.

[Bug 1597961] Re: Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth 4.0 not working on Ubuntu 16.04

2016-12-29 Thread Jordi Sayol
I have the same problem in my HP notebook on Ubuntu 16.04 (64-bit) with
a replaced mini-pci Qualcomm Atheros [168c:0036] adapter.

There is an odd behaviour. When I boot the same notebook with the same
Ubuntu 16.04 (64-bit) but LiveUSB, both wifi and bluetooth properly
works.
