[Bug 925405] Re: VNC server does not work with Mac Screen Sharing
FWIW, this affects me too. Ubuntu 14.04 QEMU emulator version 2.0.0 (Debian 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.30), Copyright (c) 2003-2008 Fabrice Bellard OS X 10.9.5. The observed behavior is that when I hit "Connect" a spinning circle appears nearby but nothing else ever happens. Hi Andrew, That is great to read, thank you for reporting back! In the mean time, this patch is in the discussion list with some kernel developers. It may be that although the patch works, it is not the best way to work around the issue and it may not even have something to do with the errata reported. In the mean time someone from intel added a patch here: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109051 to re-enable auto-demotion. At least one user reported success already. I highly recommend everyone reading this to give that patch a try. I will try to put a kernel up in the coming weekend that people can test. If that is a fix, it is very likely to end up in the kernel main line. [Bug 1652791] Re: Evince PDF doesn't print, yet Writer prints just fine
Thank you for your reply! I think Evince cannot know which settings are "bad" - this should be the job of maybe CUPS or the printer driver. So I'm not sure how Evince can help here... Of course Evince can implement a workaround for this: 1. remember the printing settings per printer; 2. Add a button to the printing dialog which resets the settings to the default values. [Bug 1580123] Re: xrandr --scale (again) confines mouse to native solution
I'm willing to spend some time on this but really don't know how to proceed. Last comment on the upstream bug says 'Egbert', whoever that is, will discuss this on the dev mailing list. I don't know what that involves.. I mean I can also drop a mail to the list and say please, please include this patch but given how many people are involved in the issue who know more than me about this issue that seems silly.. [Bug 1651923] Re: apt https method decodes redirect locations and sends them to the destination undecoded.
The problem is: the http methods URL-encodes URLs before sending them, the https one does not. And our redirecting code decodes the locations given, because the http method encodes them. This is of course horribly broken: We should not decode the location and re-encode it in the first place. That said, we can't fix this right now, so a simple work around for this issue is probably to just do the quoting in the https method as well. I hope we can get rid of the https method, and just add TLS support to our own method - that will get rid of a lot of problems with the https one. ** No longer affects: curl (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1651923 Title: apt https method decodes redirect locations and sends them to the destination undecoded. [Bug 1653125] [NEW] LXDE desktop depends now indirectly on dbus-x11
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 17.04 dev with lxsession 0.5.3-1ubuntu1 and libunique-1.0-0 1.1.6-5. lxsession depends now on libunique-1.0-0 which depends on dbus-x11 which causes the desktop session of my user to spawn an additional dbus-launch and dbus-daemon process. I remember that some package depended already on dbus-x11 all the time but allowed to select from multiple dependencies (for example dbus-user-session which causes not these processes to spawn). Maybe these alternatives are compatible with libunique-1.0-0 too and can be provided as alternatives too. Otherwise maybe this problem can be solved from lxsession but I'm not sure how much it requires libunique-1.0-0 and if for example libunique-1.0-0 could be moved from Depends to Recommends. ** Affects: libunique (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: lxsession (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libunique (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1653125 Title: LXDE desktop depends now indirectly on dbus-x11 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libunique/+bug/1653125/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1653132] [NEW] Black screen log in after upgrade to 16.10 (coming from 14.04) when using nouveau. Same issue if I use the 3rd parties drivers from NVIDIA.
Public bug reported: I finally had the time to upgrade my Sony vaio SVF15N17CXB from Ubuntu 14.04 to Ubuntu 16.10. The nouveau and also the nvidia drivers use to work perfectly on ubuntu 14.04, but neither work properly on 16.10. lspci | grep "3D\|VGA" 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 04:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK208M [GeForce GT 735M] (rev a1) When booting, I hear the log in sound but the screen is just black. In order to actually get a screen I can add 'nomodeset' to the kernel line (not always works) or also use the advanced options to ubuntu -> recovery mode -> resume normal boot (always works). If the system hibernates or if I lock the screen, black screen. I already found similar bugs online and found an infinite amount of suggestions (e.g. http://askubuntu.com/questions/760374/ubuntu-16-04 -nvidia-driver-blank-screen) but I didn't find nothing really conclusive. Moreover, I also tried IRC at the #ubuntu and #nvidia channels a couple of months ago, but didn't had any luck with the information I received. Back then, I was advised to try installing the new nvidia drivers by hand, but that didn't work (had to format it afterwards). Nvidia's driver's get installed works ... but then it suddenly crashes, or it gives me the black screen eventually. Basically, after a lot of formating I am reaching the conclusion that some important X code was removed from the version 14.04 to 16.10. Lastly, I also dual boot with Windows 8.1, which is working fine, thus my hardware is ok. [Bug 1552551] Re: Dell CERC Adapter hangs temporarily until reset. REGRESSION
I have a Dell PowerEdge 1800 with Dell CERC 1.5/6ch RAID controller in it. Everything worked fine under Ubuntu 14.04.1. When I upgraded to 16.04.1 the system won't boot. It can't find the root filesystem. I see errors about host adapter dead on the screen many times. This is with kernel 4.4.0-57 and with 4.8.0-32. When I switch back to kernel 3.13.0-105 the system boots just fine. Using intel_iommu=on doesn't help. I have mptbios 5.06.04. The CERC card says bios version 4.1-0 [Build 7403] I can't figure out how to upgrade the firmware or BIOS on the system from Ubuntu either. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1552551 Title: Dell CERC Adapter hangs temporarily until reset. Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better. Could you elaborate a bit on how this bug occured, did it happen during upgrades or when installing new packages? The reason I'm asking is that it looks like the file in question (/usr/lib/x86_64-linux- gnu/qt5/plugins/libpmdummybackendplugin.so) is in both libkpmcore4 [1] and an older version of partitionmanager [2]. But it looks like the file has been removed (moved here?) from newer versions of partitionmanager [3]. So if it happens during upgrade, it might be that libkpmcore4 is added before partitionmanager has been upgraded to the newer version... >When I take a look at url (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kpmcore/2.2.1-2), I see stories about unstable packages. In Debian, new packages are uploaded to "unstable" before they move to "testing" and eventually "stable". Development verisons of Ubuntu mainly sync from Debian unstable, so maybe that is what you're seeing. [Bug 1388532] Re: Ark fails to produce zip archive instead making gzip with the zip suffix
Almost 2017, and the bug is still not fixed (also Mint 17.3). Can someone perhaps explain the steps how I can try and contribute to a fix? No, I'm not much of a software developer (I'm an electronics engineer), but this should be fairly easy to solve. I solved it this way: sudo apt-cache madison ^xfce4-datetime-plugin to look for available versions of the datetime-plugin. xfce4-panel --version to check which version of the panel is installed. It was for me: xfce4-panel 4.11.0 (Xfce 4.10). Then i did a: sudo apt-get install xfce4-datetime-plugin=0.6.2-1ubuntu2 to install the older version of the datetime-plugin. And everything seems to work now. [Bug 1508064] Re: nm-openvpn IPV6 problem with AAAA only record
It goes further. If the desktop/laptop only has IPv6 (no IPv4 connectivity) nm-openvpn tries to connect to the IPv4 host and fails, disregardless, that an record is available and reachable. Essentially, nm-openvpn does not allow for tcp6-client or udp6-client to be configured or to be autoselected. If IPv6 connectivity is available and an record for the OpenVPN Server is in place, tcp6-client or udp6-client should be tried/initiated first with fallback to tcp-client /udp-client. If no IPv6 connectivity is available, then trying tcp6-client/udp6-client is not needed. If no IPv4 connectivity is available, then trying tcp-client/udp-client is not needed. It has either to be autoguessed (like the Android OpenVPN app does) or be configurable. As it is now, nm-openvpn does neither. ii network-manager1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3 i386 network management framework (daemon and userspace tools) ii network-manager-gnome 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.4 i386 network management framework (GNOME frontend) ii network-manager-openvpn1.1.93-1ubuntu1 i386 network management framework (OpenVPN plugin core) ii network-manager-openvpn-gnome 1.1.93-1ubuntu1 i386 network management framework (OpenVPN plugin GNOME GUI) DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=16.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=xenial DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1508064 Title: nm-openvpn IPV6 problem with only record To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-openvpn/+bug/1508064/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
