[Bug 1633251] Re: Crashes when installing on Ubuntu 16.10

2016-10-22 Thread Afif Elghraoui
Hmm. According to your output, the command that segfaulted was:

/usr/lib/gridengine/spooldefaults configuration /usr/share/gridengine
/default-configuration

I've directly tested the installation of this package on Debian stable-
backports, and Debian QA tools report successful
installation/uninstallation on Debian Unstable and Testing. I suspect it
might either have to do with the versions of some dependencies that were
incorporated into Ubuntu 16.10, or perhaps some unexpected data in your
configuration. I don't know for sure.

When you said you could successfully install on 16.04, were you
referring to the version of the package distributed there, or did you
try the same version as here, 8.1.9?

[Bug 1635701] Re: Merge 0.11.0-3 from Debian Sid

2016-10-22 Thread Julien Lavergne
It will probably be possible to sync it directly, I just worry about the
soname management. Could you do a diff between the current version on
Ubuntu and the one in Debian, and include it here for review ?

Regarding the replacement of liblxqt-data, it's probably the lxqt-l10n
package which need an additional conflicts / replaces with liblxqt-data

2016-10-22 Thread Kern Sibbald
Hello Nish,

As long as you can reproduce the problem yourself, I see no problem with
you (or anyone else) finding a fix and when the problem is fixed to
release a new version.

I am a bit uncertain what snap'ing bacula means, how to do it, or what
the responsibilities are. I assume you mean take the responsibility for
Ubuntu Bacula releases. Please clarify what you are suggesting, and I
will give you a full response. If you want to do it in this bug report
of offline, either are find with me.

[Bug 1635788] [NEW] LightDM deadlocks station after resume

2016-10-22 Thread anatoly techtonik
Public bug reported:

After getting back from sleep or suspend, LightDM provides login screen
with no controls to switch layout, change user or suspend/shutdown
machine. And it doesn't accept right password. I guess because system
was on different language layout at suspend time. But there is no layout
indication either.

I had to hard reboot the PC. Can anybody at least explain what's going
on?

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1568072 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568072

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 1568072, so it is being marked as such. The issue you
are encountering is that you installed the fpc package from upstream
(probably when you were installing the lazarus package). The lazarus
team is not making fpc packages that are fully compatible with how
things are done in Debian/Ubuntu. That is not something that is
desirable to fixe on our side. However, we normally work around that
issue, but that work around was temporarily missed, so the package that
finally went into Xenial doesn't have it.

You can easily fix the issue on your system by running
apt-get remove fpc
apt-get install fpc

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1568072
please make sure that the Debian/Ubuntu package replaces the package
provided by upstream

[Bug 1590844] Re: Bluetooth headset not working with Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition

2016-10-22 Thread akI
I just wanted to say that i can confirm that issue on the Pro5.
I have two Pro5 and also a MX4.

The MX4 works fine in my car when connected to the bluetooth (well except that
sometimes the mic gets muted for whatever reason)
Both Pro5 instead cant be used for telephoning in the car by connected through
BT.
You can only hear soughing instead of the participant so its not useable.

As this bug is on critical anyway i dont need to state again that this
is a major one.

If i can do anything to help you guys please let me know, like i said i
have a working BT on MX4 and soughing BT on both Pro5.

After this operation, 105 MB of additional disk space will be used.

This means that network-manager and plasma-nm are to be uninstalled.
I have been left with my KDE system without connectivity even before logging
out of the KDE session and logging into the LxQt one.
LxQt doesn't recommend connman, but it's a dependency.
Thus LxQt cannot run along with KDE and this is to be made clear to users.
As an option, connman is to be made an option, not a mandatory bit.

[Bug 1611360] Re: Xenial 32-bit: multipath exits with SIGSEGV

2016-10-22 Thread Amit Oren
Thanks Jon Grimm and everyone else, but can you also fix it in Xenial?
We are using Xenial on our servers as it is LTS, and giving support for Xenial
to our customers for this very reason, and we did not intend to upgrade to
Zesty anytime soon. I don't want to use pinning for that specific package or
any sort of bug-prone solution...

[Bug 1635809] [NEW] Drawing a gadget with negative dimensions. Did you forget to allocate a size? (node menubar owner GreeterMenuBar)

2016-10-22 Thread anatoly techtonik
Public bug reported:

Greeter log contains these lines:

(lightdm-gtk-greeter:3607): Gtk-WARNING **: Drawing a gadget with
negative dimensions. Did you forget to allocate a size? (node menubar
owner GreeterMenuBar)

I am writing, because I don't see any language switched on greeter
screen. Maybe that's the reason.

[Bug 1384303] Re: Cannot scan using Canon Lide 25 with simple-scan on 14.04. on USB 3.0, USB 2.0 works

2016-10-22 Thread Rolf Leggewie
This is most likely not a bug in simple-scan but in sane-utils. Debian
knows about ticket 774333 and claims the issue was fixed in sane-
backends/1.0.25+git20150102-1.

[Bug 1635810] [NEW] Xorg crashes with SEGV failing to access /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d

2016-10-22 Thread halfdog
Public bug reported:

Trying to get "Xorg -configure" working again to create a monolithic
configuration file for automated distribution (the "Xorg: No devices to
configure. Configuration failed." problem with -configure mentioned in
forums), I moved away /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d to get rid of any
interferences from that direction. This resulted in a crash starting
Xorg on Ubuntu Xenial:

[Bug 1512780] Re: apt-cacher-ng can't be installed on xenial

2016-10-22 Thread d9ping
I had this issue too upon installing, starting and restarting apt-cacher-ng.
I found that i had a apparmor profile for apt-cacher-ng that was in enforce
mode this was causing the installing, starting and restarting issues of
apt-cacher-ng.
(I'm not sure if the apparmor profile is provided by apt-cacher-ng. )
But is resolved the issues of apt-cacher-ng by running:
sudo aa-complain usr.sbin.apt-cacher-ng

[Bug 1513244] Re: package sane-utils 1.0.25+git20150528-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-10-22 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Phil Richey, you are asking what you are supposed to do? I have several
suggestions

1) First and most important, calm down. You are using software you are not
paying for, yet are incredibly demanding.
2) Don't install software from random places on the net, especially since you
have no clue what you are doing.
3) Don't mix Debian and Ubuntu packages unless you know what you are doing.
4) Don't open invalid tickets when ignoring #3

The issue you are seeing is a direct result of ignoring #3, closing as
invalid, not an issue in Ubuntu, but self-inflicted pain.

[Bug 1520970] Re: light-locker switches disabled screen on (when used with xfce)

2016-10-22 Thread intherye
I'm seeing this problem also on Xubuntu 16.04.1

I can also add another symptom to the reporters observations:

5) When locking the screen again with Ctrl+Alt+Del both screens are
blanked (background light still on) and the computer does not react to
keyboard inputs (I can SSH in).

2016-10-22 Thread Paul White
Ok, so you've upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 to Ubuntu 16.10 and are seeing
some problems with screen fonts? Which fonts? All of them?

Perhaps a screenshot would help us understand your issue.

Do you see such problems if you log in as another user or in to the
Guest session?

[Bug 1635753] Re: After Installing Ubuntu

2016-10-22 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
4. Which applications are crashing and when?
5. Did you mean to file the bug against xorg?
6. Please also change the title of the bug to something more meaningful.

Thanks!

[Bug 1635807] Re: installing release on usb 16 gb

2016-10-22 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

"personal use" is not a bug description that helps anyone fully
appreciate the problems that you might be having.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
4. Did you tru the installation again? Is the problem repeatable?
5. Please also change he title of the bug to something more meaningful.

Thanks!

This is something I have been waiting to hear for about five years--
confirmation and explanation of the actual cause of this bug. Thank you
for explaining it clearly. This also makes it clear what needs to be
done:

>If you want the appearance of Unity not being on top then you need to
modify the Unity code so that it doesn't draw itself on top, or not draw
itself at all under certain conditions.

This is what users have wanted to happen all along. I'm sad to hear you
aren't involved anymore, as I know you put significant effort into
improving compiz. Do you think any of the current compiz or unity dev
team would be willing to resolve this?
