[Bug 1529355] [NEW] authzprovideralias-defined authz provider can't be used in Ubuntu14

2015-12-26 Thread Hikari Kobayashi
Public bug reported:

Recently I updated my server from Ubuntu 12.03 LTS to Ubuntu14.03 LTS,
And I found the problem of Apache 2.4.7.
It is thought that Apache2.4.7 doesn't include authzprovideralias-defined authz
provider.
So I can't set the systemuser's account to belong to Multiple organizations.
Since Apacahe2.4.11 includes authzprovideralias-defined authz provider,
I want you to make the same correspondence to Apache2.4.7.

[Bug 1529049] Re: Switch bluetooth keyboard from qwerty to azerty

2015-12-26 Thread eDeviser
Just remember, there are serveral users, who are using their system with
diffrent language settings for the Display Language and the Keyboard
Character Map. For example I am using my UbuntuPhone with english
Display Language but I have a german Keyboard (qwertz). I. e. simply
choosing the character map by the systems Display Language will not be
enough.

So I think the best way of integration would be to add a settings menu for
connected bluetooth keyboards. I'm trying to explain in detail what I mean:
If I open settings>bluetooth, then I can see my already paired bluetooth
keyboard device. Then I can tap to the device and I can see the devices menu
with information about Name, Type, Status and Signal Strenth and so on... It
would be the best to add in this menu a further entry tochange the Keyboard
character map.

Nevertheless, the Display Language setting should affect the default
Keyboard chracter map.

[Bug 1529360] [NEW] lubuntu 14-04 xorg server crash every 6 hours nvidia

2015-12-26 Thread smallwill
Public bug reported:

Everything is fine (no memory leak) up until a random instant (sometimes
correlated with watching flash videos, but othertimes just plain
inactivity triggers it), then all RAM is used up in a matter of seconds,
mouse become unresponsive and xorg-server logs me out

I asked a question on askubuntu but didn't get any attention :

http://askubuntu.com/questions/703936/lubuntu-14-04-xorg-server-crash-
every-6-hours-nvidia

Copy pasting it here :

Every few hours my fresh Lubuntu 14.04 laptop crashes violently.
Bringing Xorg server down. I have an asus ROG with geforce gtx-960m.

I looked at the xorg server log and it seems to point to a Nvidia crash.

I had problems with nouveau drivers. So I went to
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia
And executed

sudo ubuntu-drivers devices
== /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:01.0/:01:00.0 ==
modalias : pci:v10DEd139Bsv1043sd185Dbc03sc02i00
vendor : NVIDIA Corporation
driver : nvidia-352 - distro non-free recommended
driver : nvidia-352-updates - distro non-free
driver : xserver-xorg-video-nouveau - distro free builtin

Then proceeded to install nvidia-352 as recommended via apt-get. It
works fine except when it crashes every ~6 hours (sudden memory leak
then freeze) : When running nvidia-settings it says driver version :
352.63 And I can run cuda and opengl just fine.

Previously I was under 14.10 then 15.04 and it was working OK until the
15.10 migration, which was so unstable I had to install back a fresh
14.04.

What did I do wrong ? Can you advise what I should do ?

[Bug 1274320] Re: Error: diskfilter writes are not supported

2015-12-26 Thread Id2ndR
After installing 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1.7 on Trusty, I had to set execute
right on /etc/grub.d/00_header. Now it works normally with my lvm system
partition.

So enable proposed repository, and then:
sudo apt-get install grub-efi-amd64/trusty-proposed -t trusty-proposed
sudo chmod +x /etc/grub.d/00_header
sudo update-grub2

Experiencing after update to 15.10

As upstart is replaced by systemd, I changed the /sbin/status to use the
service command:

#!/bin/bash
/usr/sbin/service $1 status
echo $?

which solves the problem, just mentioned it if anyone wants to get
puppet running anyway.

Re: [Bug 1529232] Missing required logs.

2015-12-26 Thread Lucas Partridge
Hi Brad,

Which kernel do you want me to be booted into when I run apport-collect?
The last version before the break (3.13.0-68); the first version available
after the break (3.13.0-70); or the current version (3.13.0-74)? Or
doesn't it matter at this point?

Thanks, Lucas.

[Bug 1462590] Re: unity-settings-daemon crashes using xrandr

2015-12-26 Thread sjjh
Trying to collect more information:

simon@laptop:~$ unity-settings-daemon --debug -r
[lots of debug information]
[using second terminal to run "xrandr -o right"]
(unity-settings-daemon:11712): Gdk-ERROR **: The program
'unity-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'XI_BadDevice (invalid Device parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 613 error_code 129 request_code 131 (XInputExtension)
minor_code 48)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

What would be intersting is to have some logging info for the widevine
plugin. I have enable logging on chromium with parameter found here
https://www.chromium.org/for-testers/enable-logging but had no really
interested information. I'm trying to find if there is any log file
possibility for the widevine plugin. I have read somewhere that we
should use the same version chromium as the one from the chrome in the
image. I don't know however wich version of chrome is provided in the
image.

[Bug 1486997] Re: Copying a large file causes user interface to stop responding

2015-12-26 Thread Phill
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

If you run, for example, `cp file1 file1-copy` with several GB of data,
give it a minute, then the user interface stops responding and the mouse
stops moving. There are occasional glimmers of response but it's like
watching a video one frame at a time. I would expect the user interface
to continue to work barring the occasional interruption. When the copy
completes, or if you can interrupt it, the user interface works normally
  again.

Despite the specific title, which I'll explain next, the command you use
doesn't matter. Any heavy and prolonged disc activity does it.
Ironically, running `ubuntu-bug kernel` to report this problem caused
the mouse and UI to freeze for a few seconds. Scheduled backups also
  cause it.

So, why the specific title? This has been reported by other user and
myself before but in more general terms. Those reports are drowned in
comments by frustrated users clutching at straws to the point where it's
hard to see where they're going. I thought it might be helpful to limit
this bug report to a very specific and easily testable example so that
we don't get side-tracked working around what is probably a kernel
  scheduling issue.

This is not an isolated or new problem. I've been using ubuntu since
2008 on several different machines and it's always been a problem. Maybe
it's a little worse now, maybe not. In any case, there's no point
bisecting the kernel as it's not a regression.

The problem also affects the terminal. If you switch to another TTY the
log-in takes ages, and usually doesn't complete until the heavy disk
activity has finished. This can be extremely frustrating when you don't
know which process is making mischief and you want to use a terminal to
  find it and stop it.

It is possible to alleviate the problem by disabling swap. I did this on
the hunch that processes were being frozen while memory was paged in
from the disk. Unfortunately my current workload makes this solution
impractical. What's odd is that the problem occurs even when there's
several GB of memory to spare. After re-enabling swap you need to wait a
little before re-testing to reproduce the problem.

I've also tried other kernel schedulers. None help.

I'm a software developer and happy to get my hands dirty, but sadly I'm
  quite unfamiliar with the kernel.

[Bug 1529378] [NEW] Unable to install gradle on Xenial (causing FTBFS for itself)

2015-12-26 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Public bug reported:

Gradle 2.7-3 is currently uninstallable on Ubuntu Xenial. It fails with the
following error message:
$ sudo apt install gradle
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gradle : Depends: libgradle-plugins-java (>= 2.7-3) but it is not going to be
installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

What is interesting is that I could install libgradle-plugins-java without
issues, though even with this in place I still get the same error message from
gradle. So it is not clear to me why, but it would be interesting to see what
is causing the conflict.

$ apt-cache policy libgradle-plugins-java
libgradle-plugins-java:
  Installed: 2.7-3
  Candidate: 2.7-3
  Version table:
 *** 2.7-3 500

500 http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Furthermore, since gradle depends on itself, this is currently preventing
version 2.7-4 from building because build dependencies cannot be installed.

I tried on a Debian Sid vm, but I don't get similar error messages
there, so it looks like an Ubuntu-only problem.

[Bug 1486997] Re: Copying a large file causes user interface to stop responding

2015-12-26 Thread Phill
Things may have improved a little since I reported the issue. Effects
are less pronounced, mainly intermittent pointer and screen freeze
lasting a few seconds at a time and difficulty starting new programs or
restoring minimised windows, rather than the complete lock-ups
previously experienced. However, there may just be another factor that
I've not been able to identify as yet.
