[Bug 1512475] [NEW] *** stack smashing detected ***: /usr/bin/python terminated

2015-11-02 Thread luca
Public bug reported:

I'm getting this error when running a media scan in mopidy. I guess, no
matter what any script is doing, python should never crash with a
smashed stack like this.

FYI, I'm using mopidy from the apt repo as instructed here:
https://docs.mopidy.com/en/latest/installation/debian/

It crashes after scanning loads of files. I'm sorry I can't provide more
info.

[Bug 1235220] Re: Nova API returns unicode Location Header

2015-11-02 Thread Sujitha
I'm not able to replicate the bug. Its working as expected. I installed
devstack on Ubuntu and changed configurations to run nova-api with
apache2.

Command: nova image-create myinstance testImage
Output: Image was created with out any error and can be seen using nova
image-list.

Also, the debug log displayed Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 for
the image-create response. So it is returning it in utf-8. So I think
this bug is no longer valid.

Changing it to invalid.

[Bug 1512415] Re: hpsa driver has problems with interacting with tape drives and media changer

2015-11-02 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1512415/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 253167] Re: Rhythmbox sort by "Album Artist" for guest/compilations

2015-11-02 Thread Piedro Kulman
No bumping please, no complaining for heavens sake , no asking nicely -
how dare you!

Well 7 years of an open bug is not fixed because the devs do not
understand the problem...

Sure they have any right to not do anything about it. That's why I
ditched rhythmbox years ago, just came around to check whether anything
happens here... lol... I guessed so.

Whatever the "upstream" procedure is here - obviously it doesn't help anyone.
Great system of developing! And that's why we can't have nice things.

You devs have done a great job 10 years ago, since then..., meh... not so
much...
Rhythmbox still feels 10 years old and users can not sort by album artist if
they so desire - funny kind of freedom

Cheers, p.

[Bug 1508609] Re: [Hyper-V] Race condition in SMP bootup

2015-11-02 Thread Joseph Salisbury
The mainline commit that fixes this bug (dd9d3843), claims that this bug
was introduced by upstream commit 6acbfb969 which was added to mainline
in v3.15-rc8.

Can you test the current Trusty (3.13) based kernel to see if commit
dd9d3843 actually needs to be included?

[Bug 1512482] [NEW] Keyboard and touchpad malfunctioning on Thinkpad Twist

2015-11-02 Thread Matteo Dell'Amico
Public bug reported:

I don't know if this is really a kernel bug or if it's any other
component, please help me know how I can diagnose the problem better.

This is a bug I have been experiencing with both 15.04 and 15.10, while
this was not a problem with earlier distributions -- unfortunately, I
don't remember which one in particular was actually working.

I have a Thinkpad Twist -- a hybrid laptop with touchscreen. The
touchpad almost never works (even though sometimes, erratically, it
does). The keyboard sometimes stops working, and works again after a
suspend/resume cycle. Sometimes it behaves as if a key is stuck.

When running xinput --list, I don't see the touchpad. The touchscreen
and external input devices connected via USB, however, work fine.

I was thinking this was a hardware problem, but on the same machine with
Windows the problem does not appear to present itself.

[Bug 1392647] Re: smbstatus reports dead connection as active

2015-11-02 Thread pierrot
I'm having the exact same problem. First time I was experiencing this
issue was about a year ago when I was setting up a new Server based on
Ubuntu 14.04. I was not sure whether it was a bug in Samba or a problem
womewhere else. My Solution at that time was going back to 12.04 with
Samba 3.6.3 which stills works fine.

Now, for different reasons I thought about upgrading to 14.04 and was hoping to
find this bug gone. It's a shame that it's still existing.
I also tried setting up Samba on a Debian server and even compiled the newest
Samba version 4.3.1 with no remedy.

I assume it is maybe not a problem based in Ubuntu or Debian but only
within the Samba sources.

2015-11-02 Thread Steve Beattie
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.

[Bug 1512459] Re: background image from gallery can't be re-centered

I would think you would edit the photo in the gallery before setting as the
background.
But, I realize there is no way to make a copy of a photo to do such an exercise
while retaining the original.

[Bug 1510125] Re: occasionally loses external monitor

2015-11-02 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.3 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

2015-11-02 Thread Michi Henning
Added camera-app.

Nicola, are you saying that, at some point, the camera app stops
working? Or is the camera-app working fine and you then don't see the
thumbnail for a photo you have taken?

Are you able to get a terminal session on the phone? If so, it would
help us if you could send the logs for the thumbnailer and the camera-
app around the time you see a new photo failing to produce a thumbnail.

[Bug 1510970] Re: Intel driver crashes on Ubuntu 15.10

2015-11-02 Thread Anoop Karollil
I can reproduce this consistently by opening up a calendar event in
Thunderbird. I also could reproduce this consistently when I opened up a
chat log dialog in Pidgin - but I could work around it by disabling
animations via CompizConfigSettingsManager. @Johannes, you could try
that work around, but yes, please fix this. I think booting into a
different kernel fixes the problem, but I have things installed that
depend on the latest kernel.

[Bug 1512344] Re: Package nginx-* failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2015-11-02 Thread Thomas Ward
** Summary changed:

- [Master Bug] Package nginx-* failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed
post-installation script returned error exit status 1 (due to Port 80 being in
use)
+ Package nginx-* failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed
post-installation script returned error exit status 1

** Summary changed:

post-installation script returned error exit status 1
+ [Master Bug] Package nginx-* failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed
post-installation script returned error exit status 1 (due to "Address in Use"
issue)

** Description changed:

This is a master bug for all package-type nginx bugs with
install/upgrade failures as a result of port 80 being already used by
another process. It was created to be a 'master' for all the bugs which
are caused by some other service being bound to *:80 (both IPv4 and
IPv6) when any of the nginx flavors or server-binary packages are
installed, and all subsequent bugs which match this type of issue will
be marked as a duplicate of this one.
+
+ A purposely-generated 'package' bug of this type was created, and is
+ located at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/1512484.
+ Bugs of a nature matching that one (an "Address In Use" error) should
+ point to here.

  --

The issue observed is not in and of itself a bug - this is an issue in
which the system you are installing NGINX on already has something else
  listening on port 80.

To fix this issue, you need to first find what is listening on Port 80,
and turn it off. At that time, either install NGINX or use 'apt-get
install -f' to try and finish configuration.

An example of the error logs of this can be seen in Vivid and later with
`systemctl -l status nginx.service` which will return something like the
attached "systemctl_output.txt" file that is attached to this bug.

[Bug 1512498] [NEW] gnome-terminal thinks it's Byobu Terminal

2015-11-02 Thread Barry Warsaw
Public bug reported:

After dist-upgrading from Wily to Xenial, gnome-terminal has a global
menu bar entry, and switcher icon of Byobu Terminal. This is regardless
of whether I start Terminal via gnome-do, unity (search or sidebar), or
Emacs shell buffer typing 'gnome-terminal'. Other than that, I can't
tell any difference from "traditional" gnome-terminal.

[Bug 1512415] Re: hpsa driver has problems with interacting with tape drives and media changer

2015-11-02 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I built a Trusty test kernel with a cherry pick of commit: 3ce438df10. The
test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1512415/

Can you test this kernel and see if it resolves this bug?

Note, you will need to install both the linux-image and linux-image-
extra .deb packages.

[Bug 1504618] Re: Touch pad not working on Surface Pro 3 Type Cover

2015-11-02 Thread Michael
I fixed the touchpad by adding the following lines to
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf:

Section "InputClass"
Identifier "Surface Pro 3 cover"
MatchIsPointer "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Driver "evdev"
Option "vendor" "045e"
Option "product" "07dc"
Option "IgnoreAbsoluteAxes" "True"
EndSection

This fix was discussed at
https://github.com/nuclearsandwich/surface3-archlinux/issues/4 and
http://askubuntu.com/questions/620726/ubuntu-on-surface-pro-3-or-linux-
at-all.

In my case, the type cover stopped working after upgrading to 15.10
because the upgrade overwrote /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf.

I'm not sure whether this matters, but there are two type cover USB IDs,
0x07de and 0x07e2, as discussed at
https://www.reddit.com/r/SurfaceLinux/comments/3dzriz/info_surface_pro_3_patch_status/.
Maybe this fix only works for one of the two IDs.

[Bug 1501281] Re: Frequent freezes on 15.04 with kernel 3.19.0-29+

2015-11-02 Thread Joseph Salisbury
It sounds like this bug was introduced by a SAUCE patch, so a kernel
bisect would be bext to identify the commit that introduced this bug.

I started a kernel bisect between Ubuntu 3.19.0-28 and 3.19.0-29. The
kernel bisect will require testing of about 7-10 test kernels.

I built the first test kernel, up to the following commit:
44d23454131ed2b4fd667241ac8940b598d55aa1

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1501281

Can you test that kernel and report back if it has the bug or not? I
will build the next test kernel based on your test results.

Thanks in advance

Hi Michi,
the camera don't stop working, i can make more photos but all becomes
unavaiable... and I must restart.
sometimes it happens, sometimes not..so I don't know how to reproduce the issue
 using terminal too..

Maybe can be helpful if I send you a corrupt picture when the issue
comes up again?

Re: [Bug 1510180] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-11-02 Thread Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Johannes Neugschwentner
thx!!!

I've updated my BIOS.
So far I've had a few crashes ... but it wasn't clear if it's not due to my
new mt7601Usta patched wifi-driver ... usb wifi stick ...

If I see the patterned screen with full freeze again I'll send another bug
report ...
If not, I'll give it a few days and change the bug-report status (if I
don't forget) ...

thx, J

[Bug 1512257] Re: Photos made with front camera sometimes are unavailable in gallery

2015-11-02 Thread Michi Henning
So, after a re-start, the thumbnails start showing up correctly? If so,
there is nothing wrong with the photo itself, otherwise you'd never see
a thumbnail at all for that photo. If not, there is something wrong with
the photo, in which case attaching one of the non-working photos would
hep.

Also please let me know whether killing and re-starting the gallery app
fixes it.

[Bug 1374892] Re: Please backport php5-apcu version 4.0.6 to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

2015-11-02 Thread Axel Pospischil
Hi,

at the moment

 * php5-apcu_4.0.7-1build1~ubuntu14.04.1_amd64.deb

reached me with the standard update procedure from trusty/backports
repo:

root@server:~# apt-show-versions php5-apcu
php5-apcu:amd64/trusty-backports 4.0.7-1build1~ubuntu14.04.1 uptodate

So at least if this repository is enabled, we can use this now.

Axel

[Bug 1510247] Re: Last kernel breaks aMule's kad UDP Sockets

2015-11-02 Thread Ganton
Hi! The same happens there.

Each time the computer is rebooted with this kernel:
$ uname -a
Linux tp 3.13.0-65-generic #106-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 2 22:08:27 UTC 2015
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
then everything works correctly.

However, if the computer is rebooted with this kernel:
$ uname -a
Linux tp 3.13.0-66-generic #108-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 7 15:20:27 UTC 2015
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
then e.g. Amule is unable to connect to the Kad/Kademlia network, and a lot of
those errors are seen:
MuleUDPSocket: Client UDP-SocketSocket died, recreating.
every time.

[Bug 1512257] Re: Photos made with front camera sometimes are unavailable in gallery

2015-11-02 Thread Nicola
never used the photo scope on my phone, but I can confirm: killing the
gallery app (or restart the device) don't fix it.

thanks!

[Bug 1374892] Re: Please backport php5-apcu version 4.0.6 to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

2015-11-02 Thread Axel Pospischil
... That means, the problem is

1. not fixed for Ubuntu LTS 14.04 and major (!) third party packages, that need
this (owncloud)
2. this bug is not a duplicate of but #1500167 which asks explicitely for the
BACKPORT repo

So I think the duplicate flag should be removed and this should be
resolved for the LTS version urgently !

[Bug 1286102] Re: Error "Extension Manager: exception in synchronize" on LibreOffice startup

2015-11-02 Thread Philippe Lefevre
Very strange, I just found a directory that was setted 750 as mode, changed it
to 755 : the bug disapear.
To confirm, I got back the dir mode to 750, the bug doesn't occur anymore.
In doubt, I leave it setted to 755 as it shouldn't hurt but I do not understand
what does the trick.
Hope this help ;)
