[Bug 1510813] Re: Update to 3.18.1

2015-10-30 Thread Tim
Harry,
xenial-proposed (devel-proposed) is by definition pretty broken, see [1].
Sure you are free to use it, and maybe in some limited cases it will work, but
overall its pretty much guaranteed that packages in there have broken
dependencies or failing tests. This is vastly different from the stable
-proposed pockets

eog and mutter and all the reverse-depends will be rebuilt against 3-12,
once we start the transition (waiting for evolution-data-server
transition to clear first), and then everything will migrate to the
release pocket...

So basically unless I am missing something, there is nothing to fix
here?

[Bug 1509817] Re: Please backport PHP fix #64938 (fixed in 5.5.22) on 14.04

2015-10-30 Thread Robie Basak
** Description changed:

  libxml's libxml_disable_entity_loader was not threadsafe on php-fpm
prior to 5.5.22 and 5.6.6. This allowed attackers to perform an XXE
attack even though the entity loader was disabled in your code.

Zend came up with a separate library for this:
  https://github.com/zendframework/ZendXml however I don't think it is
that widely used and the fix itself is hard: the library itself had to
  be patched again ([ZF2015-06])

AFAIK the patch to fix this issue has not yet been backported. I think
it would be a much needed security enhancement, given that the
workaround is hard and as history has shown prone to complicated unicode
  encoding attacks.

  For more information, please see:

[Bug 1511414] Re: PHP-FPM incorrectly defines the SCRIPT_NAME variable when using Apache

2015-10-30 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The bug sounds valid to me, but note that 14.04 users may be relying on
the current behaviour. So if we fix the bug, we might break those users.
On the other hand, the bug is trivial to work around (just truncate
PATH_INFO from the end of SCRIPT_NAME if your deployment is affected).
So I am reluctant to recommend modifying a stable release to avoid
breaking existing users. Feedback welcome.

We should get this fixed in the development release though, if it isn't
already. Does this bug affect 5.6.11+dfsg-1ubuntu3.1 in Xenial?

[Bug 1511626] Re: gvfsd-smb crashed with signal 5 in g_settings_set_property()

2015-10-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks, the error suggests the gsettings schemas are not correctly
installed, which is weird. What does "dpkg -S org.gnome.system.smb"
return? does the file listed there exist on disk?

[Bug 1510813] Re: Update to 3.18.1

2015-10-30 Thread Harry
Tim, you wrote:
"So basically unless I am missing something, there is nothing to fix here?"

Maybe so,
I only wrote comments here because there is a clear difference between these
two:
1) gnome desktop3_3.18.0-0ubuntu1~wily2 (Gnome3 Staging PPA)
2) gnome-desktop3_3.18.1-1ubuntu1 (xenial-proposed-new)

I cannot install nro 2 above, because that would force to remove
libgnome-dektop-3-10.
But I have installed nro 1 above with no issues.

So, if nro 2 would be replaced with nro 1 in xenial proposed, it would be
installable.
Then eog and mutter could be easily built against libgnome-desktop-3-12.
After this libgnome-desktop-3-10 could be removed.

To me, having nro 2 in xenial-proposed with no possibiliites to install it and
eog + mutter with no possibiliites to build against libgnome-desktop-3-12
(because it is not installable) is a locked-in situation.
Nothing to fix? Really?

[Bug 1511222] Re: Incorrect trusted proxy match test in mod_remoteip

2015-10-30 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Looks like this was fixed upstream in 2.4.8 so it is fixed in Vivid,
Wily and Xenial, but affects Trusty. It looks like this should be
trivial to cherry-pick to Trusty. I will put this on the server team's
backlog.

In the meantime, please could you provide exact steps to reproduce this
issue so that we are able to verify that the fix works?

And if you'd like to help further, the full procedure is documented at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure. Thanks!

[Bug 1506652] Re: [needs-packaging] Juju 1.24.7 is not in Ubuntu

2015-10-30 Thread Robie Basak
Uploaded 1.24.7 to Trusty now that 1.22.8-0ubuntu1~14.04.1 is in trusty-
updates. I'm not sure why it is still in trusty-proposed but that
doesn't matter as it should be superceded by this new upload once
accepted.

I added a changelog note to explain the packaging difference from the
previous packaging of 1.22.8-0ubuntu1~14.04.1 in Trusty, since in the
general case packaging changes might introduce regressions so I felt
that changes should be pointed out for SRU review. In this case I think
the changes are fine. I have made a note of this case in our process
documentation for next time.

2015-10-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1494141] Re: HAProxy 1.5 init script does not terminate processes

2015-10-30 Thread Claudio Kuenzler
By the way... this bug was also backported into the official trusty version of
HAProxy (1.4).. Jeez!
In the meantime its fixed again.

haproxy (1.4.24-2ubuntu0.2) trusty; urgency=high

  * debian/haproxy.init:
+ Pass the pidfile to the --pidfile argument instead
of the PID number. (LP: #1477198).

 -- Jorge Niedbalski Wed, 22 Jul 2015
11:12:26 -0500

haproxy (1.4.24-2ubuntu0.1) trusty; urgency=medium

  * debian/haproxy.init:
+ Backport of utopic start/stop routines,
uses start-stop-daemon to reliable terminate all
haproxy processes and return the proper exit code.
   (LP: #1462495).
+ Backport of utopic check_haproxy_config routine,
that test the configuration before start or reload.
   (LP: #1468879)

[Bug 1511222] Re: Incorrect trusted proxy match test in mod_remoteip

2015-10-30 Thread William Shallum
Steps to reproduce (not exact):

apache config:

LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
LoadModule remoteip_module modules/mod_remoteip.so

Listen 18000

RemoteIPHeader X-Forwarded-For
RemoteIPTrustedProxy 127.0.0.1
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^/?(.*) http://test.invalid/%{REMOTE_ADDR} [R=301,L]

Let's assume we are a proxy on 127.0.0.1.

If a connection comes from 1.2.3.4 without an existing header we will
set X-Forwarded-For: 1.2.3.4 and Apache should trust us.

curl -vH 'X-Forwarded-For: 1.2.3.4' 'http://127.0.0.1:18000/'
...
< Location: http://test.invalid/1.2.3.4
...

This is OK as the connection comes from 127.0.0.1 and it is trusted to
present the IP 1.2.3.4

If a connection comes from 1.2.3.4 with an existing "X-Forwarded-For:
5.6.7.8", we should add the IP 1.2.3.4 at the end, like so:

curl -vH 'X-Forwarded-For: 5.6.7.8, 1.2.3.4' 'http://127.0.0.1:18000/'
...
< Location: http://test.invalid/5.6.7.8
...

This shows that Apache thinks the REMOTE_ADDR should be 5.6.7.8. This is
not OK as the IP 5.6.7.8 comes from 1.2.3.4 and 1.2.3.4 is not trusted.

Expected:

After the patch is applied

curl -vH 'X-Forwarded-For: 5.6.7.8, 1.2.3.4' 'http://127.0.0.1:18000/'
...
< Location: http://test.invalid/1.2.3.4
...

I have confirmed a bug in mod_remoteip.c's remoteip_modify_request

users/201210.mbox/%3CCAHa2qaJSW7Hvk68grWMbbiFSA=zaxq1nr_-a-k-pdwbab0g...@mail.gmail.com%3E

The bug appears to still be in httpd/trunk.

The bug here is that, even though temp_sa gets assigned to a new IP with
every iteration of the while-loop, the apr_ipsubnet_test continues to
check the list of proxy match_ip against the same connection IP (using
c->client_addr) over and over again. Thus, if c->client_addr matches,
the code always walks to the very beginning of the X-Forwarded-For
header.

+if (apr_ipsubnet_test(match[i].ip, temp_sa)) {
 internal = match[i].internal;
 break;
 }
 }

The fix is to replace apr_ipsubnet_test(match[i].ip, c->client_addr)
with apr_ipsubnet_test(match[i].ip, temp_sa) , and to correct the
mention of c->client_addr comment. Once fixed, the module works great.

To reproduce this bug, you have to setup mod_remoteip with these directives:

RemoteIPHeader X-Forwarded-For
RemoteIPInternalProxy 127.0.0.1

Then, hit make two requests:

1) curl --header 'X-Forwarded-For: 1.2.3.4' http://localhost:80/
2) curl --header 'X-Forwarded-For: 1.2.3.4, 5.6.7.8' http://localhost:80/

For (1) the r->useragent_ip logged is expected to be 1.2.3.4 . The code
behaves correctly for this case.

For (2) the r->useragent_ip logged should be 5.6.7.8 . The current code
logs 1.2.3.4 still. This is not the behavior as documented because
5.6.7.8 is not configured to be "trusted".

Hello Eugene,

Thanks for pointing out this bug report on the Apache httpd dev mailing list.
It answers a mystery I had with regard to bug 55635.
As you can see in comment 1 (of 55635), I submitted results that were somewhat
different from those of the bug reporter.
In comment 3, I gave an explanation of the bug reporter's results.
But that did not explain my own results.

Once I applied your patch from this bug, my results matched those of the bug
reporter in 55635.
It appears that the bug reporter in 55635 had the patch for 54651 applied.
So I confirm that your patch is indeed valid and useful.

Since I am a relatively new developer (1 year) for the Apache httpd project, I
do not have committer access.
Perhaps there is a committer who is interested in mod_remoteip that will
consider committing the 54651 patch to trunk.

Thanks again,

Patch to use correct IP address for trusted proxy comparison.

Worked the patch in the bug description as an attachment.
This patch is an essential fix for mod_remoteip to function properly.
This fix should be receiving some attention.

Without this fix the remoteip_modify_request() function in mod_remoteip.c will
not be using the correct IP address for comparison against the trusted proxy
list when the RemoteIPHeader header value is a list.
The first pass of the while will work correctly,
but the subsequent passes will not.

/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d.It use to work fine in 15.04.Recently I
upgraded the system,it was a fresh install,then it happened,really
annoying.

Steps to reproduce:

#Set the Blank after to 1(or whatever except Never) minutes in Xfce Power
Manager
1.Wait until the monitor blanked then wake it.Open a window and shake it,the
window is tearing.
2.Logout and login,TearFree works again.
Do it again,it's a loop!

[Bug 1383184] Re: Atheros Qualcomm Killer N1525 Wireless-AC [168c:003e] is not supported

2015-10-30 Thread chevrier
Max - can you provide some details at which exact steps you took, what kernel
you use, what you tried etc?
Adam's solution is definitely working.
As a matter of fact, I just tried a fresh 15.10 install and it's working fine.
Just followed steps and is all fine.
I just don't understand why my other 15.10 install just won't work. I did
remove the dmsg-ath10k package. really confused.
:-s
let us know max, so we can help properly. see above posts.
thanks

[Bug 1494141] Re: HAProxy 1.5 init script does not terminate processes

2015-10-30 Thread Louis Bouchard
Claudio, it is only partly fixed by Jorge's patch.

I have proposed the same fix than for this bug in LP: #1481737.
Unfortunately, not being a core dev, it needs to be sponsored to be
accepted. Then I can backport the fix here in 1.5

Sorry for the delay, I'll chase a sponsor.

[Bug 1509075] Re: [xmir] Dialogs/fonts are scaled way too big

2015-10-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Fixed rootless too:
https://git.launchpad.net/~xmir-team/xorg-server/+git/xmir/commit/?id=cb043eb35dbd2a8c418f328396b882be31de4cab

Warning:
Now the bug is fixed you're still going to see some (significant but no longer
absurd) font size differences between apps because the apps themselves are
actually quite different. Gimp and Firefox honour the screen DPI and will scale
up for the phone screen (less so than before the bug was fixed). However other
simpler GTK apps don't bother and will appear very small still. This is down to
the apps themselves being well written for high-DPI or not.

If in doubt, check 'xdpyinfo' to see what the physical screen dimensions
being reported by Xmir are.

Right, but you are not meant to install gnome-desktop3_3.18.1-1ubuntu1 just
yet, if you want 3.18.1 use the ~xenial1 ppa package.

As soon as gnome-desktop is released from the new queue, we will upload
rebuilds of all the reverse-depends, besides at that point 3-10 will
disappear from the archives (if you have proposed enabled) and you will only be
left with the installed copy. Not to mention you would likely
hit the debian bug, since gdm is at 3.16 in the archives and still linked to
3-10. The reason we don't do that on the ppa, is so we can avoid
doing a full transition, since some of the reverse-depends only use things like
the thumbnailer and nothing else, we also have a bit more
control there ensuring everthing core to gnome-desktop lands in about an hour
or so.
>

Again this is exactly how xenial-proposed is supposed to work, so we can do
transitions without affecting users. If you insist on using
-proposed, then you should just wait until the transition is complete when
things fall apart, in most cases that shouldnt be more than a day or two.

Now go read the page I linked earlier, and I quote from that:
"One important difference that those familiar with the Debian process should be
aware of is that -proposed is a *partial suite*: that is, it
only contains packages that have not yet migrated, and must be used on top of
the release pocket. This can cause some confusion where removals
are concerned. Furthermore, the Ubuntu process has no arbitrary delays and no
consideration of release-critical bugs, so there is very little
benefit to users in using -proposed and such use is strongly discouraged."

[Bug 1505564] Re: Soft lockup with "block nbdX: Attempted send on closed socket" spam

2015-10-30 Thread Junien Fridrick
Upgraded all the kernels to lts-vivid (3.19.0-31-generic), and got a new
crashdump overnight, from the same server just above (orlo). apport +
dump below.

** Description changed:

  Hi,

Some of our nova compute hosts regularly freeze, sometimes for a few hours,
with kern.log getting spammed with :
block nbdX: Attempted send on closed socket

and a few "CPU soft lockup" messages (see attached log). This clears up when
the queue gets cleared, eg :
  block nbdX: queue cleared

trusty hosts with kernel version 3.19.0-30-generic.

Note that timestamps from kern.log appears to be wrong, it looks like
the messages are being held, and then all delivered at once when the
  kernel unfreezes.

Attaching apport files from 2 hosts below.

[Bug 1511669] [NEW] watershed should not depend on initramfs-tools

2015-10-30 Thread Morty
Public bug reported:

While the watershed package brings support for initramfs-tools, the
tool itself is independent and therefore should not depend on initramfs-
tools.

This also fixes bug #1109029

[Bug 1509762] Re: services fail to start with "Failed to subscribe to NameOwnerChanged signal: Connection timed out"

2015-10-30 Thread Martin Pitt
Can you please enable this PPA and check whether boot is now working?
https://launchpad.net/~pitti/+archive/ubuntu/sru-test

This patch has worked for me, it definitively fixes the boot failure
with the exact same symptoms that you see; but I can't reproduce it on
225, just on (unpatched) 227; but I'm 99% sure it's the same bug.

Upgrading to the PPA is safe, aside from systemd with that one patch
there is nothing else there.

Thanks!

Actually the watershed package should not depend on initramfs-tools at
all. Removing the dependency would fix this. I created a new bug for
watershed: bug #1511669

[Bug 1356640] Re: Display language label is too big

2015-10-30 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Specification updated: As I suggested above, for this item, the summary
value should be below the label rather than to the right.

** Description changed:

On the language and text page, the first item is Display Language.
It shows on the left that label, and on the right the selected language.
This doesn't fit on the screen as can be seen on the attached screenshot.

[Bug 1511674] [NEW] Memory leak

2015-10-30 Thread Zbych
Public bug reported:

I noticed that pcscd consumes a lot of memory (5GB after 48h since start) in
one of my computers (ubuntu 14.04 64-bit pcsc-lite version 1.8.10.)
In debug mode pcscd shows a lot of USB "device removed" notifications:

0102 hotplug_libudev.c:594:HPEstablishUSBNotifications() Device removed
1297 hotplug_libudev.c:269:get_driver() Looking for a driver for VID:
0x1D6B, PID: 0x0002, path: /dev/bus/usb/001/001
[cut - long list of usb devices]
0246 hotplug_libudev.c:269:get_driver() Looking for a driver for VID:
0x03EB, PID: 0x2044, path: /dev/bus/usb/001/067

CMD_GET_READERS_STATE from client 5
00500341 winscard_svc.c:319:ContextThread() Received command:
CMD_GET_READERS_STATE from client 5

Flood of "device removed" messages was caused by some broken USB device
(not card reader - CDC-ACM device), but it doesn't explain why pcscd
allocated 5GB of memory. Is it some memory leak in pcscd?

2015-10-30 Thread Bob Briscoe
Now it's gone back to how it was, with Ubuntu also throwing up an error
window asking if I want to report the segfault. Don't know why that
didn't happen the last couple of times even tho the segfault was in

Summary: libimobiledevice-utils has made no difference to this fault
