[Bug 1506845] [NEW] Suspected Race Condition on boot
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Vivid using stock install, no additional configs, on a dual boot (Ubuntu + Win7) When booting, my laptop will sometimes boot successfully, sometimes not, and sometimes, will reboot. Using CTRL+ALT+F1 to get to terminal shows me a console flood for Nouveau (sometimes) and sometimes not. Sometimes I see messages about firmware not being used/installed. I cannot reliably replicate this problem, but I have had similar problems running Fedora on this machine with similar console floods, which points further up to the upstream kernel. I suspect it is a race condition, as if I can see the console flood, the laptop often boots successfully, but if I don't I either get a kernel panic or a self-reboot. Can provide more information/HW details if needed (but not at the machine right now) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1506845 Title: Suspected Race Condition on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1506845/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1506847] [NEW] gnome-screenshot doesn't put the screenshot in clipboard
Public bug reported: I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 and I've noticed that gnome-screenshot doesn't work as it used to a couple of weeks ago, so probably an update broke it. When I take a snapshot (Print Screen or Shift+Print Screen), I get the gnome-screenshot dialog with the options "Copy to clipboard" and "Save file". Saving file works, but copy to clipboard an pasting to another application doesn't. Copy and paste of images does work in general (e.g. by using the "Copy image" option in the browser - I can paste this image to another program), so this seems to be solely related to gnome-screenshot. ** Affects: gnome-screenshot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: clipboard copy paste -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1506847 Title: gnome-screenshot doesn't put the screenshot in clipboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screenshot/+bug/1506847/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1506845] Re: Suspected Race Condition on boot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1506845/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1505556] Re: lpstat plugin doesn't return job count
Looks like $n_jobs is set correctly upstream and in 2.0.25-1 in Wily, so this is fixed but could be cherry-picked to Trusty. Upstream still outputs a COUNTER and not a GAUGE (from https://github.com/munin- monitoring/munin/blob/devel/plugins/node.d/lpstat). If you think it should be changed, then please file an issue with upstream (https://github.com/munin-monitoring/munin/issues). It is not appropriate for Ubuntu to do something different from upstream here. You've described two separate issues here but this bug can track only one, so I'll track the $n_jobs issue. If you want you can file a separate bug here in Ubuntu for the COUNTER/GAUGE thing, but I will not consider it valid for Ubuntu unless upstream say it is valid so you should file a bug upstream if you want it fixed. For the $n_jobs issue tracked here, it is fixed in Wily so I will create a task for Trusty and mark it Fix Released for the development release (Wily). If you want to see this fixed in Trusty, then please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure. In particular I need a step-by-step test case for verification, and a commitment from you that you will be prepared to carry out the verification. If you can do that then we can get this fixed for you in Trusty. [Bug 1395273] Re: Scottish Gaelic gone after update
Thanks for your report. Previously firefox-locale-XX was a "recommend" in the language-pack-XX- base packages. That recommend was dropped last year, and as regards 14.04 it happened via an update after the initial release. This ought to explain why the firefox translations disappeared after an update. (You probably run "sudo apt-get autoremove".) So it was a one-off incident. The coverage of the Scottish Gaelic translations in firefox is an upstream matter, and thus not an Ubuntu bug. I see that you are a member of the Scottish Gaelic translation team in Ubuntu, so you may want to get involved in the translation of firefox as well. [Bug 1267393] Re: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo, golang
golang: The packaging of the golang package looks reasonable well, it is based on the the Debian packaging. In Ubuntu the package suffered regular maintenance up to and beyond the 15.04 release (vivid). It's good to see another attempt to maintain this package. While not required, it is good to see that shared library support is being worked on, and targeted for the upcoming 1.6. release. golang is not just a build dependency for juju, but for various packages within the phone stack, so it will require coordination with other teams to introduce new versions and keep the packages buildable. >From my point of view this just didn't happen in the past. I suppose that golang 1.6 is targeted for the anticipated 16.04 LTS release, so please make sure that maintenance and update plans are made and communicated (see UOS in about two weeks). Having seen these past issues, and issues with another not well maintained language stack in main for the last two years (ruby), I'm asking for explicit confirmation that the teams who are supposed to maintain golang do have the required resources to do so. This will not only include the maintenance of the golang package, but also the maintenance of go libraries in main, and an eye to other go library packages in the archive. Setting the status for golang to incomplete, and waiting for this confirmation. After that I think the package can be promoted to main. ** Changed in: golang (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: golang (Ubuntu) Assignee: Matthias Klose (doko) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1267393 Title: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo, golang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dh-golang/+bug/1267393/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1506836] Re: LastPass bookmarklet not supported in ubuntu-touch browser
You mention in the description that the bookmarklet starts with "android:", is that correct? If so there’s no chance of it being supported in webbrowser-app. Bookmarklets are supposed to start with "javascript:". See bug #1407746 for support of correct bookmarklets. I’ll keep this bug open though, as I’m curious of this "android:" prefix. I guess you’re getting this because of our default UA string that contains an "android" token. [Bug 1423672] Re: ext4_mb_generate_buddy:756: group N, block bitmap and bg descriptor inconsistent: X vs Y
It happened here again. 8/24 ext4 corruption 9/14 ext4 corruption 9/29 update/reboot 10/16 ext4 corruption This time the corruption was severe. 1743 files from multiple directories got moved into lost+found. It took me almost 2 hours this morning to verify & fix everything. Fortunately every time this has happened, all the files were dated prior to the daily backup and "diff -qr ..." shows exactly what was lost. As far as I can tell this is not a memory issue and the ext4 FS is using 10G out of 100G. Every time the corruption has been in /var/mail. However the VM is mostly used for mail so it may not be significant. The /var/mail branch itself is 4.3G 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u4 (2015-09-19) x86_64 GNU/Linux I'm holding back the kernels on other VM's so this is the only VM with the problem. Is anyone able to reproduce this on demand? I really need to do something because this is causing downtime during normal business hours. I'll probably try one of the following: 1. Rebuild the FS from scratch and see if ext4 corruption continues. 2. Use ext3 or something else. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1423672 Title: ext4_mb_generate_buddy:756: group N, block bitmap and bg descriptor inconsistent: X vs Y To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1423672/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1506826] Re: Upgrade from kilo to liberty fails
The problem is that the old postrm is being called with no conditionality on the actions it takes; its doing a remove/purge all of the time, when infact its being called with 'upgrade' which then fails due to the interim state of files on disk. I think the right fix is to only perform the steps in the postrm for remove/purge - upgrade can be an no-op as the collect/compress will happen in the postinst. ** Also affects: horizon (Ubuntu Vivid) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: horizon (Ubuntu Wily) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Changed in: horizon (Ubuntu Vivid) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: horizon (Ubuntu Vivid) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: horizon (Ubuntu Wily) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1506826 Title: Upgrade from kilo to liberty fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/horizon/+bug/1506826/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1267393] Re: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo, golang
juju-core: Others already commented on the code, and finally approved with some comments. I'm still sceptical about how to track third party libaries, i.e. if they are included as a dependency, or built form the vendorized copies. dh-golang tries to do that, and sets the "Built-Using" attribute for the binary packages. If juju-core doesn't want, or cannot use dh-golang, that should be done directly in the packaging. Is this a solved problem how to select which copy to use, or does this still need investigation? jujud is still linked statically. [Bug 1506836] Re: LastPass bookmarklet not supported in ubuntu-touch browser
Wow, that is interesting. It turns out that using the Ubuntu browser Lastpass's website returns that "android:" string as the bookmarklet, whereas using a normal webbrowser it returns a much longer "javascript:" string. Seems like this is some kind of optimisation introduced on LastPass's end and it's mistakenly identified the Ubuntu browser as an Android browser. I think this means that if I copied the correct "javascript:" string from my computer into a bookmark, it'd probably work. But I can't figure out how I'd do that. Any suggestions? [Bug 1506836] Re: LastPass bookmarklet not supported in ubuntu-touch browser
Ah right, so I just checked my own server logs and the user agent string in the Ubuntu browser is "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Ubuntu 14.04 like Android 4.4) AppleWebKit/537.36 Chromium/35.0.1870.2 Mobile Safari/537.36".
