[Bug 1440032] Re: nm-applet is missing the Sierra EM7345 4G LTE

2015-09-05 Thread darkhawk
I updated the BIOS to the latest Version 1.16 and still nothing has
changed.

Randomly after reboot the card is working without a problem, and after
standby or another reboot it isn't.

Another T450s (1 week old) has the same problem. Installed BIOS version
was 1.14, we updated to 1.16 and the card isn't working at all. The card
has the same usb id.

Both systems are running Ubuntu 15.04. Same mobile provider (T-Mobile).

After a cold boot, the modemanager is asking for the SIM pin at the
login screen :-/ entering the pin isn't working because of the missing
permissions at this point.

After cancel the SIM pin window and enter the login password, you have
to enter the password for sudo enable the mobile datacard.

very strange!

Cheers
Christian

[Bug 1492534] [NEW] USB devices fail to automount unless Thunar is running

2015-09-05 Thread MR Zenwiz
Public bug reported:

I'm running Xubuntu 14.04.3:

 3.13.0-57-generic #95-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 19 09:28:15 UTC 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=14.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=trusty
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS"

thunar:
  Installed: 1.6.3-1ubuntu5
  Candidate: 1.6.3-1ubuntu5
  Version table:
 *** 1.6.3-1ubuntu5 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

with all the latest updates. I run this on three different machines -
my home desktop, my work desktop and my home laptop.

As of about two weeks ago, I upgraded my home desktop to an Intel base,
and last week it stopped automounting any USB disk/flash drives UNLESS
Thunar is also running when I plug the drives in. (My work desktop is
also an Intel base and this never happens there.)

This happens for my usual flash drives and also my SATA-USB3 conversion
plug-in tray.

When the drive plugs in, it shows up in lsusb, but the notification
never appears, df does not see it and I can't access it normally.

I discovered that, if I am not running Thunar when the drive is plugged
in, I can run it, then click on the drive icon in the left vertical
panel, and that mounts the drive.

If I am running Thunar, it mounts (semi)automatically with full
notification, just like it used to without Thunar..

I have checked the Removable Drives and Media panel of settings, and the
Mount removable drives when hot plugged and Mount removable media when
inserted boxes are both checked.

What I expected to happen:

The drive mounts and is visible in df and accessible for all normal
commands.

What happened was:

The drive shows up in lsusb but nowhere else unless Thunar is running or
I start it up and click on the drive name.

[Bug 1416557] Re: [Acer Aspire V5-573G] suspend/resume failure

2015-09-05 Thread bp0
So I've comprehensively failed to git bisect what is apparently neither
a mainline kernel version (mainline only has 3.14, not 3.14.51, and I
can't figure out how to get around the lack of a debian.master/changelog
file) nor available in the utopic repository (which has 3.13 and 3.16
kernels, but neither of the ones I'm interested in). I've also never
built a kernel before so don't have enough baseline knowledge to go
beyond copy and pasting commands which I don't really understand.

I suspect that the resume problem has something to do with the changes
made in https://01.org/suspendresume/blogs/tebrandt/2013/hard-disk-
resume-optimization-simpler-approach. These were made between 3.14.51
and 3.15.0-RC1, I think. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to revert
just these patches to test them individually.

Any help appreciated.

[Bug 822479] Re: Massive Evolution Mail memory leak

2015-09-05 Thread Allan Bogh
I'm not sure if this is directly related but I notice a massive memory
link with writing email with HTML content, such as pasted content from a
webpage. This also applies to images that are inserted, as these create
HTML containers around the images, thus causing a leak.

The leak is apparent when pressing backspace after HTML content has been
inserted. Typing is fast and responsive, but backspace takes one to two
seconds to complete. It's often faster to highlight and delete than to
press backspace.

This leak causes sending of messages to freeze the window, causing it to
grey out.

As a final note, I've found that including a signature and attempting to
delete it will crash Evolution instantly, although this may be an
unrelated bug.

Setup:

Evolution 3.16 or 3.17 (needed latest development release to fix previous bugs)
Exchange plugin
Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 - 8GB Ram
Ubuntu 15.04

[Bug 1390625] Re: mouse cursor gets corrupted

2015-09-05 Thread ethanay
I experience this problem running Freya on an intel graphics stack.
However, I use the Scratch text editor a lot. It is configured to "hide
the cursor while typing." If I type a little bit in the text editor to
hide the cursor, the next time I move the cursor, it reappears as
normal.

So consider that a workaround and better option than rebooting!

Hi Gene, if you need to have some virtualbox builds feel free to just ask me,
I'll upload all the patches you want to test in my ppa.
(I'll prefer to apply them on top of 5.0.2 if possible)

[Bug 1439769] Re: various linux packages being marked as manually installed, still prevents 'apt-get autoremove' from doing the right thing for kernels

I guess one could argue about a better API for the aptdaemon client for
this, maybe "MarkAutoInstalled(pkg_list)" or Mark({Auto,Hold},
pkg_list".

[Bug 1492546] [NEW] Systemd runs ifdown on shutdown even when it shouldn't

2015-09-05 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Public bug reported:

The unit /lib/systemd/system/ifup@.service is Debian and Ubuntu specific, it's
not part of upstream systemd.
On shutdown, it unconditionally ifdowns all interfaces:
  ExecStop=/sbin/ifdown %I

This is a regression from previous init systems (sysvinit and upstart)
which cared so that when a network file system was in use, they didn't
ifdown the interfaces.

Specifically, both /etc/init.d/networking and /etc/init/networking contain
these functions:
  check_network_file_systems()
  check_network_swaps()
which output the message "not deconfiguring network interfaces: network file
systems still mounted" and exit.

So, please call the same functions in the ExecStop= part of
ifup@.service.

[Bug 1492546] Re: Systemd runs ifdown on shutdown even when it shouldn't

2015-09-05 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
This also affects LTSP, e.g. Wily clients can't shutdown because
/sbin/poweroff is no longer accessible once ifup@.service unmounts
/dev/nbd0.

If systemd is fixed in Ubuntu before 15.10 is released, problem solved,
otherwise we'll need to commit the following in upstream LTSP.

Script /usr/share/ltsp/init-ltsp.d/50-systemd-ifup:

if [ -f /lib/systemd/system/ifup@.service ]; then
mkdir -p /etc/systemd/system/ifup@$DEVICE.service.d
cat > /etc/systemd/system/ifup@$DEVICE.service.d/ltsp.conf

[Bug 1394368] Re: Bluetooth with AR9462 doesn't work (New ID /Firmware)

2015-09-05 Thread Jukka Niiranen
Raphaël,

Thank you for very very clear and precise recap.

I followed your advice, but for some reason 'sudo dpkg -i
ar9462-dkms_1.5.1_all.deb' stops to 'Error! Bad return status for module
build on kernel: 3.19.0-26-generic (x86_64)'.

I've included both
- terminal output (build_command.txt) and
- make.log (build_make.log)
files in the attached ZIP packet.

Any idea why this happened? I'm ready to test more.

[Bug 1492174] Re: Notebook does not shutdown when battery is critically low

2015-09-05 Thread cl-netbox
** Description changed:

- When the battery is discharged completely, notebooks hibernate instead of
shutting down.
+ After discharging the battery completely the notebook suspends instead
shutting down.
To prevent the battery from getting damaged, it is important that the machine
shuts down.

This happens in ubuntu 15.04, power behavior was correct in 14.04 and in
14.10.
In ubuntu 14.04 default gsettings for critical-battery-action are set to
'suspend'.
In ubuntu 15.04 default gsettings for critical-battery-action are set to
'shutdown'.
In ubuntu 15.10 default gsettings for critical-battery-action are set to
'suspend' back again.

So the critical-battery-action setting has to be 'suspend' to shutdown
notebooks completely!
This seems to be a little bug in gsettings, as 'suspend' setting performs
'shutdown' action.
It leads to unwanted behavior of machines when users change power settings by
executing:
  "gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
critical-battery-action shutdown"

[Bug 772709] Re: Network Manager Icon Is not changin when VPN is connected (nm-device-wired-secure icon is missing)

2015-09-05 Thread Forest
Also, this is a security problem. It robs the user of the ability to
easily see that the VPN is (still) connected. If the VPN goes down, and
the user doesn't happen to see the momentary pop-up message (or if that
message has been accidentally or deliberately suppressed), the user will
think his communications are encrypted when they are actually exposed.

It can easily be exploited:
1. Distract the user or wait until he looks away from his screen.
2. Interfere with the internet connection for a few seconds, causing the user's
VPN to fail.
3. Capture the user's packets.

[Bug 740506]

2015-09-05 Thread Albert Astals Cid
I've had look at the code (in poppler/ not glib/ i'll leave that to the
glib/ experts) and have some minor and some major comments.

Minor:
 * There's 3 use of malloc i could find, for completion i guess it's better if
you use gmalloc
 * SigStatusStruct should be a C++ class

Medium:
 * I'm not convinced getSigningTime should return a char *, i'd very much
prefer it returning an integer and shifting the responsability to turn it into
a string to upper layers, since allows for translations, etc.

Major:
 * There's lots of repeated code (the loops searching for "Annot"+"Sig" some of
these with more checks for nulls than others) and some functions that make no
sense in PDFDoc like Object *getByteRange(int index);

If you see in Form::Form we're already parsing "Fields" and creating
FormFieldSignature for each "Sig" object.

My suggestion is that you expand FormFieldSignature with your
implementation.

That also solves API issues like for for example getSignerName should
not be in PDFDoc since you need to have called validateSignature before
and then it returns the signer name for the signature of that index, so
it should be part of a signature object, i.e. FormFieldSignature.

Do you think it makes sense?

[Bug 740506]

2015-09-05 Thread Albert Astals Cid
Another file that aborts
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=12982

Also

+/* Build against libcurl. */
+#cmakedefine ENABLE_OPENSSL 1
+

i guess just sneaked in to the patch and is not needed?

Also please use our own error() function instead of perror

Also one question, does pdfsigverify exercise all the codepaths you're adding?

poppler nss signature support - v4

Minor changes fixing what Albert pointed out.
Fixed bug in countSignatures() for documents without signatures

pdfsigverify does go through all code paths up to PDFDoc, it doesn't go
up to poppler-doccument.

But we do have a patch for evince including this signature verification
feature which makes use of the poppler-doccument functions and they have
worked fine with all the test pdfs.

[Bug 1085526]

2015-09-05 Thread Albert Astals Cid
I've had look at the code (in poppler/ not glib/ i'll leave that to the
glib/ experts) and have some minor and some major comments.

Minor:
 * There's 3 use of malloc i could find, for completion i guess it's better if
you use gmalloc
 * SigStatusStruct should be a C++ class

Medium:
 * I'm not convinced getSigningTime should return a char *, i'd very much
prefer it returning an integer and shifting the responsability to turn it into
a string to upper layers, since allows for translations, etc.

Major:
 * There's lots of repeated code (the loops searching for "Annot"+"Sig" some of
these with more checks for nulls than others) and some functions that make no
sense in PDFDoc like Object *getByteRange(int index);

[Bug 1492174] Re: Notebook does not shutdown when battery is critically low

2015-09-05 Thread cl-netbox
** Description changed:

- After discharging the battery completely, the notebook suspends instead
shutting down.
+ After discharging the battery completely, my notebook suspends instead of
shutting down.

[Bug 1492544] [NEW] LibreOffice - Base "apt-get install libeoffice" missing Packages

2015-09-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Libre Base works great in standard ubuntu 15.04

However a fresh installation on a Lubuntu 15.4 both via synaptic and
again terminal failed to install the full LibreOffice base package

ie. sudo apt-get install libreoffice
and aptitude install libreoffice

Mainly Report builder and also other packages not included

I do not know what other packages are still missing as base is still
broken, current problems are issues around pulling reports ( the report
screen presents a blank page and hangs )

In Lubuntu LibreOffice was first installed via Synaptic (version
4.4.2.2) then as it was unhappy via terminal

I also tested Version 4.4.5
Version 5 is missing a lot more than just the report builder

"documentfoundation" say not their bug

[Bug 1492557] Re: Sync mate-sensors-applet 1.10.4-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2015-09-05 Thread Martin Wimpress
Following a discussion on August 24th 2015 in #ubuntu-release with Iain
Lane, Didier Roche, Oliver Grawert syncing MATE 1.10 packages from
Debian unstable have been approved because:

  * These package syncs will only affect Ubuntu MATE.
  * There is currently a mix of MATE 1.8 and MATE 1.10 packages in the 15.10
archive, due to API changes this is resulting in segmentation faults and
serious
  regressions.
  * All the MATE 1.10 packages have been built in a PPA and tested on 15.10
  for several weeks -
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mate-dev/+archive/ubuntu/crazy-mate

This is the last package sync that is required to complete the
transition to MATE 1.10 :-) Any subsequent sync will be for bug fixes
only.

Please see the "keyboard layout chart":

It is (normal) e, (shift) E, (Alt Gr) €, (shift + Alt Gr) Ē, but no
possibility to produce lover case Ē, what normally should be (Alt Gr) .

I tried to install all of them but the normal qwertyuiop asdfghjkl zxcvbnm
- (alt gr) qw€ŗtyūīōp āšdfģhjķļ žxčvbņm layout that normally most people
use is missing the l.c. Ē.

The bug is expired, but please see this and reply if I have to renew the

[Bug 1482273] Re: Dell Ubuntu 3551: failure to boot without nolapic option

2015-09-05 Thread Mark Standridge
Nevermind, this bug is still present in 3.13.0-63-generic. I was wrong
about the bios setting in post #5. The only reliable way to boot a
current kernel with working smp is to first boot linux-
image-3.13.0-57-generic, then reboot into the latest kernel. Kernels
linux-image-3.13.0-62-generic and linux-image-3.13.0-63-generic do run
stable once booted, the others I mentioned earlier are unstable if
booted. On a related note, I see Dell has stopped offering the Ubuntu
Edition of this laptop.

[Bug 1491957] Re: 3.16.0.48 kernel in hyper-v cause hv_netvsc problem

2015-09-05 Thread Lőrinc
Joseph, it is a live server, but I can test on it, but I am not a linux genius.
So I can start is if you show me what I should do exactly from command prompt.
(wget? apt?)
And one more thing is that I have currently this:
Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.16.0-46-generic x86_64)

So it is not 14.04.1 as I see the version in the filenames here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1491957/

I can create snapshot from Hyper-V console, so you should not describe
how I can revert the changes.

[Bug 1492569] [NEW] impossible to save presets with similar names

2015-09-05 Thread G.M.
Public bug reported:

1. There is no page on bug.launchpad for pulseaudio-equalizer => I lost
my previous lengthy description of the bug :[

2. Create a preset and saving it as "low bass1"
3. Create a new preset and try to save it as "low bass2". As soon as you enter
"low bass" in the textfield, the "low bass1" preset gets loaded, so you loose
your current preset and are thus unable to save it.

Which phone is this?

It would be also quite helpful if you can provide some more verbose
debug logs. To do that follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingBluetooth
and reproduce the problem. Afterwards attach the syslog file here or
shared privately with me if you mind pushing it here.

Re: [Bug 1241986] Re: Cannot connect to WPA/WPA2, EAP-PEAP, MSCHAPV2 network

2015-09-05 Thread Giuseppe
Hi, I've got a quick update. I've finally sorted out the connection
problem, i.e. I've changed the network password to a minimum of 8
characters. It works OK the first time I connect up, but the second time
it keeps asking me the password again and again. So I have to manually
delete the connection and the same as above. I don't know whether this
is a bug or something I'm missing out. Hope you can help. Cheers, -G

[Bug 1492580] [NEW] Display corruption

Public bug reported:

I am running a newly installed and updated Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS on a
Samsung P500 Laptop (Model NP-P500I, NP-P500-RA01DE). I guess this issue
is related to the graphics card, which is a Radeon Xpress 1250.

attached screenshots of it.

I see similar corruption with ubuntu 15.04.

[Bug 1492585] [NEW] package mythexport 2.2.4-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2015-09-05 Thread Miles Brennan
Public bug reported:

Logged in as general (non admin) user, selected MythExport plugin in
Mythbuntu Control Center, and it starts to throw system errors saying
MythExport plugin is being stopped.

Have uninstalled MythExport, still get the same error, now MythBackend

immediately.
