[Bug 1481202] [NEW] gmail notification sound not changeable

2015-08-04 Thread Jonas
Public bug reported:

The gmail notification sound is always 'Blip'.
Go to System-Settings and change the sound to 'Xylo' for example.

What you expected to happen?
New gmail notifications should use 'Xylo' now.

What happened instead?
gmail notifications still use 'Blip'.

The sms notification sound changed, so it looks like its only affecting
gmail notifications.

I am on OTA 5 Meizu MX4 with account-polld 0.1+15.04.20150410-0ubuntu1

[Bug 1481206] [NEW] "h f" messes up formatting of search suggestions

2015-08-04 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Public bug reported:

Regardless of the current search engine selected, it appears this string ("h
f") messes up the formatting of search suggestions (as well as entries from
history and bookmarks).
I’m seeing entries such as:

2015-08-04 Thread D. W. Lloyd
Public bug reported:

This happened after installing wine on Xubuntu 14.04 64-bit.

I followed the instructions here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/449507/nvidia-libopencl1-331-has-to-be-removed-before-installing-wine

i.e.

sudo apt-get install nvidia-cuda-toolkit #Need to get 250 MB of archives; 774
MB of additional disk space will be used
sudo apt-get install ocl-icd-opencl-dev #this will remove nvidia-libopencl1-*
and nvidia-opencl-dev
sudo apt-get install wine #Need to get 121 MB; 342 MB of additional disk space
will be used.

Then rebooted, and got the error.

[Bug 1481206] Re: "h f" messes up formatting of search suggestions

2015-08-04 Thread Olivier Tilloy
The highlightTerms() function returns the following string for "h
factor":

hfont> factor

The problem is that the function does the highlighting in several
passes, iterating over the list of terms to highlight. In that specific
case, "h" is first highlighted, then "f", resulting in the following
sequence:

 * after highlighting "h": h factor
 * after highlighting "f": hfont> factor

[Bug 1481038] Re: iproute2 crashes being reported since kernel version 3.13-0-59-generic

Maybe we should make sure that this remains a problem with the latest
kernel *-61.100. The -59 kernel caused a lot of other problems. Usually
those were related to executing a 64bit binary from a 32bit binary. But
I would not completely rule out other odd failures. So if all the
reports are with -59 and the numbers again go down it is probably
related to that.

[Bug 1475623]

commit f9d2b4a70b8fd11a5c1d399ce8f4d50ea60e7fbc
Author: Robert Ancell
Date: Fri Jul 24 16:14:11 2015 +1200

Fix tests crashing with GCC 5.1

The tests were using a c_str() result from a std::string that had gone out
of
scope. GCC 5.1 seems to be more agressive in freeing the string data before
the tests checked against it.

[Bug 1384814] Re: [System Settings] lock screen not honoring timeout setting from system-settings

"But if I press the power button before 10 minutes it should not lock
the screen. This is how iphone works."

This is not true of iOS. If I set auto lock to 'never' and then press
the power button then the phone does lock.

I agree with Iain "I personally like the phone locking straight away
when I press the power button." There should be a quick and easy way to
lock your screen, should you not wish to wait 10 minutes (or whatever
has been set) and the power button is a good way to do this.

[Bug 1478026] Re: Never loads click preview again if first tried offline

We don't do anything special connectivity wise on unity8, i've checked
and we call scope.preview() again the second time so if it's not working
(that i checked it does not) it must be some of the lower layers getting
confused.

Pinging some people about it.

[Bug 1481222] [NEW] Firefox does not respect the application preference order for opening files from the downloads library

Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce

- Check a file association. For example 'pdf'.
  kcmshell5 filetypes
  Application Preference Order is:
1. Okular
2. Karbon
3. ImageMagick (display Q16)
4. ImageMagick (display Q16)

- Use Firefox to download a pdf file. Firefox preferences for PDF are set to
'always ask'.
- Open the Firefox library at Downloads (down arrow -> Show All Downloads) and
double click the downloaded PDF file.
- Chances are it will open using Karbon instead of the expected Okular

Likewise, clicking the folder icon next to the downloaded file will not
use Dolphin, but Gwenview and .zip files will not be opened with Ark,
but with Gwenview, or something else.

[Bug 1478022] Re: Click previews slow to load and can't scroll while loading is not done

The fact that the view is disabled while contents are loading is a
design decision, you'll have to take it up with them if you think it's a
bad idea.

About the slowlyness from what i can see we're making the calls to the
lower layers as fast as we can and the delay comes because the lower
layers take some time in populating the models we get returned with
content.

Adding the lower layers for comment.

[Bug 1468645] Re: [sdk] Buttons and other widgets are too small for comfortable touch usage

** Description changed:

  [Updated description]

On Ubuntu phones, buttons and other widgets are too small for
  comfortable touch usage.

This is mostly about buttons like those seen in the shutdown dialog.
They feel too small (they are in fact 5.5mm high) to be able to reliably
hit with a finger, and that's on arale which has a large screen.

But our GUI elements vary in size a lot and we got it right in the many
menus/list views. There, each row is a nice comfortable height (10mm).

Compare to Android 5.1.1 on a hammerhead where buttons/list items are
12-15mm high, the larger size is more comfortable and faster to use.

  –––

- Desired resolution:
+ Update:

The shut-down dialogue will follow new rules we are defining for button
size and spacing which will appear with updated SDK UI items.

The GUI elements should all be touch friendly and consistent in size.

In bad light conditions (bright) it is very hard to select the right tab
in the quick settings menu on Ubuntu Phone. This is because the
contrast between the grey icon and the black background is to low. When
I wanted to switch on the GPS in the car I wasn't able to find the right
tab because I couldn't see the icons and I just couldn't give the
  mounted phone a closer look.

Another color combination: white = inaktive, blue = aktive would
  increase the usability.

+ Desired resolution:

+ Highlighted text in #FF
+ Adjust the colour value to #88

[Bug 1481233] [NEW] Tab and BackTab can not be handled anymore

Public bug reported:

Since recent changes in the staging branch it is not possible any more
to handle Keys.onTabPressed (and the equivalent with backTab). The key
press seems to be fully captured by other components to perform
automatic tab-based focus switching.

Attached example demonstrates the problem: on the console I expect to
see "TAB pressed" when I press the tab key, but it never happens, and
focus only switches between the list delegates instead.

[Bug 1384814] Re: [System Settings] lock screen not honoring timeout setting from system-settings

I think the current default is ok but there should be an option to allow
not locking immediately.

On iOS like current Ubuntu it's hard to follow navigation instructions,
quickly lock the _touchscreen_ from further touches with power button to
do something else on the street, then press power button to glance again
what was the direction or shop of interest. It, like Ubuntu currently,
asks for constant typing of the passcode which gets tiresome when you're
doing this kind of repetitive glancing of the phone while wanting to
handle the phone care free when not looking at it.

Having it optional and enabling the bug #1446635 features would have
best of all worlds: the option to not lock with code immediately, and
the "quick and easy way to lock your screen" of comment #6 both for
default users and those who have enabled the optional non-immediate
locking.

Thirdly, the opening part of 1446635 makes my navigation example super
fast by bypassing the lock screen to go straight to the example's
navigation app, which would be even more efficient than it currently is
on Jolla where one still needs to select the app from multitasking view
- on Ubuntu, one does get to the latest app directly after typing the
passcode / swiping.

Even if #1444635 would be seen as too advanced feature, the fact that
one gets straight to the latest app on Ubuntu from lock screen would
make Ubuntu on par with Jolla in efficiency if the immediate locking
would be made optional, but then one would miss the possibility to
quickly lock the phone when using the option. I just argue that the
double pressing of power button features for flash-opening +
phonelocking does not add cruft since people who don't use it wouldn't
notice it.

[Bug 1478022] Re: Click previews slow to load and can't scroll while loading is not done

After investigating it a bit it seems that unity8 is still requesting
multiple previews at a time (it was originally implemented that way to
have next preview readily available when user swipes between previews,
but I thought it was supposed to be disabled?) - I see even 4 preview
requests at a time on longpress. Moreover, in the logs it looks like
among them there is always a request for the first app from Apps
category (Amazon in my case), even though I long-press one of the last
app icons in that category. For every preview request clickscope
performs two network queries (for package details and for its reviews).

[Bug 1481268] [NEW] checkboxes without labels in location dialogue

Public bug reported:

My device is a smartphone bq aquaris 4.5 ubuntu edition with ubuntu 15.4
(r24) installed.

When I open System Settings-->Security & Privacy-->Location access-->Allow
access to location:
I see a page with several lines each line consisting of an icon and name of an
app and a checkbox on the right.

But some lines (4) only have a checkbox on the right and neither an icon or a
name of an app.
I can check and uncheck these checkboxes. But I don't know what is dis- or
enabled by them.

[Bug 1384814] Re: [System Settings] lock screen not honoring timeout setting from system-settings
