[Bug 1448586] Re: package rpcbind 0.2.1-6ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

According to this bug report, https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89289 the first of these messages appears to be related to systemd, although probably is not due to exactly the same bug reported there. It does appear that you are running systemd on 14.10. This is not a supported configuration in 14.10, because systemd was only partially supported by certain key services (such as the rpc stack). [Bug 1448608] [NEW] Nautilus opens new window instead of the existing one
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 14.04.2 GNOME nautilus 3.10.1 If any window is already open, and try to focus on him, nautilus opens new window, instead of the existing one. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Bug 1366418] Re: Bluetooth BCM43142A0 doesn’t work
@Mark, 1. Asus drivers are buit a way that you do not see separate firmware files. 2. To determine which hex file to use, you need to look into inf file. Find your adapter VID PID and match it to hex file. Then convert it to hcd. It is a shame that Broadcom does not give license to distribute that firmware. [Bug 1040873] Re: [N56VZ, Realtek ALC663, Black Headphone Out, Right] No sound at all: Subwoofer not working
Hi, I just tried Ubuntu 15.04 which embeeds pulse audio 6.0. In the sound settings panel, I can switch to 2.1 profile, and within test panel, everything works just fine : Left, right and subwoofer. *But* when I launch any sound application, there is no sound through subwoofer. I tried Gnome videos, vlc and firefox. Is there something wrong with the applications? I think this is weird because if the application outputs stereo tracks, then pulse/alsa should be able to generate a subwoofer track (mix+lowpass) and then output 2.1. Am I wrong? [Bug 1448629] [NEW] tlsdate default settings set time to random value
Public bug reported: tlsdate sets the time based on a TLS timestamp from a TLS server. The tlsdate tool comes preconfigured with the server www.ptb.de. However that server now randomizes the timestamp, possibly causing lots of trouble. A possibility to fix this would be to use www.google.com. As google itself uses tlsdate it's to be expected that they don't change the setting to ramdomize the tls timestamp. Please note: This is preconfigured in two places. Once for the tlsdate tool in the tool itself and once in the tlsdated.conf daemon config file. [Bug 1448634] [NEW] VLC menu items don't enable during playback
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to 15.04 (and hence Unity 7.3.2) I'm having trouble with the menus in VLC. Several items on the "Video" menu are disabled when playback is stopped and are meant to become enabled during playback. I initially reported this as a bug in VLC, but they reckon it's a Unity issue as the right-click context menu works fine: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=125719&p=422755#p422755 I have confirmed this happens with both Statusbar menus and Locally Integrated menus. And I can also confirm that on the last day of 14.10 before I upgraded it was working fine in that version of Unity. I've also confirmed that changing to different VLC packages (such as those from PPAs) does not resolve the issue. Thanks for your help! [Bug 1437846] Re: akonadi mysql 5.6 crash with signal 11
1. Initially mysqld-akonadi could not start because of an error described as: "TIMESTAMP with implicit DEFAULT value is deprecated. Please use --explicit_defaults_for_timestamp server option" 2. In order to prevent that error, I modified the MySQL server configuration, adding the next lines to the file /etc/akonadi/mysql- global.conf: explicit_defaults_for_timestamp=1 3. After that, MySQL server starts correctly , but the problem is still there: the Akonadi server does not start up and the control process is not registered at D-Bus (errors in tests 10 and 11) 4. In fact, the akonadi server could not startup because of the next error: Sql error: Table 'akonadi.schemaversiontable' doesn't exist QMYSQL: Unable to execute query Query: ALTER TABLE SchemaVersionTable ADD COLUMN version INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 0" Unable to initialize database. 5. Solutions #11 and #20 do not solve the problem for me. 6. Below you will find the Akonadi Server Self-Test Report: Akonadi Server Self-Test Report === Test 1: SUCCESS Database driver found. I see now that there was a suggested patch for this issue in the related branch, though I don't see any merge proposal connected to it. Though, mountmanager itself seems to have been removed from newer Ubuntu releases, so maybe that's related. I couldn't find a bug report on why it was removed, so I don't know if there was a particular reason for it. Maybe the suggested patch was dropped when the package was removed future releases?
