[Bug 1402962] Re: qtpim fails to build against Qt 5.4.0 on i386 and arm64

2014-12-16 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Correction: I built qtpim both in a 3-arch PPA (armhf i386 amd64) and
6-arch PPA (additionally powerpc arm64 ppc64el), and interestingly the
same problem happens on arm64 too:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/192757969/buildlog_ubuntu-vivid-arm64
.qtpim-opensource-
src_5.0~git20140515~29475884-0ubuntu6~vivid1~test1_FAILEDTOBUILD.txt.gz

arm64 and i386 don't have much anything in common, but at least the
problem does not happen on just one architecture.

** Summary changed:

- qtpim fails to build against Qt 5.4.0 on i386

[Bug 1401575] Re: HP Moonshot/McDivitt: iSER compatibility issues between x86 OFED target and McDivitt ARM64 client

The log messages at the initiator gives following messages:

conn error (1011)

2. To solve this issue it will be butter to updated the open-iscsi package to
the latest version and not take specific patches.
I can't detect specific patches. The kernel version was updated so now we need
to update the user space.

Thanks,
Hadar

packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1402966/+editstatus and add the

[Bug 1361474] Re: [SRU] Error erasing device when there is dos partition table but no partition

2014-12-16 Thread Timo Jyrinki
The next step would be indeed getting a sponsor. I did the changes to
the bugs so that they would be more ready for sponsoring, but a sponsor
who is core-dev (can upload main packages) should be found. Practically
everything needed from your/our side is done, other than answering
possible future questions.

[Bug 1395661] Re: Qt Webkit fails to build against Qt 5.4.0 on amd64 and powerpc

2014-12-16 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Harald looked at the problem a bit:
< sitter> Mirv: ah, fwiw, I think I found the cause of the broken pch
http://paste.ubuntu.com/9537448/ for some reason that doesn't get reported with
the 3 million arguments used in the build normally
< sitter> also for good measure I was unable to find any other build log
anywhere on the internet that also used pch for Qt5WebKitWidgets, perhaps the
problem is that suddenly it started to precompile for us ^^

Looking at 5.3.2 logs, pch does not seem to be enabled with qtwebkit
over there.

[Bug 1402974] [NEW] Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.13.0-43-generic

2014-12-16 Thread Ivo Roghair
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure about this bug, I just did a dist-upgrade to upgrade the
kernel from 3.13.0-41 to 3.13.0-43 in the terminal window, and the bug-
report window popped up. I looked in the terminal to find the error
message:

Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.13.0-43-generic
Consult /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-331/331.113/build/make.log for more information

However, that file does not exist anymore. Since I'm not sure whether
nvidia built correctly in the latest kernel, I'll try to reboot to the
-43 kernel.

[Bug 1402976] [NEW] Apper: Distribution upgrade process exited with code 1.

2014-12-16 Thread lrbh
Public bug reported:

Don`t seem to be able to upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04. Could it be to do
with my multiple, Nvidia-driven monitors? They were not straight-
forward to set up three or so years ago -- only 11.10 (if memory serves)
with some additional drivers got it to work.

Or, perhaps it is because I have removed Muon becauase Apper seemed a
bit nicer. (BTW why do you guys change the package manager ~every~
time?)

Anyway, HTH.

[Bug 1402834] Re: fuse filesystems get disconnected on container exit

2014-12-16 Thread Andy Whitcroft
The big question is whether we tried to unmount the mount to trigger the
exit. If we just killed the fuse server then the kernel behaviour seems
valid. If we attempted to unmount it, that let the server go, then the
umount failed, that sounds wrong.

Re: [Bug 1402409] Re: wireless unable to connect after tainted kworker

2014-12-16 Thread Krister
I'm not sure how to install the kernel with the bcmwl libraries
installed (I need them to test my wireless don't I).
Naturally, I get the following errors:
"
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel:
3.18.0-031800-generic (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/bcmwl/6.30.223.248+bdcom/build/make.log for more
information.

[Bug 538673] Re: tracker-extract seems to briefly consume 1.5GB memory and slow computer right down

2014-12-16 Thread Usul_
Same thing here. Ubuntu Gnome 14.10 64 bit on an Asus P301LA notebook with 4 GB
RAM.
After login in gnome shell the system is very unresponsive for many minutes.
After a while, usually, tracker-miner crashes and the systems goes back to
normal behaviour.
Apport says: tracker-extract crashed with SIGABRT in g_malloc0().

[Bug 1025244] Re: qcow2 image increasing disk size above the virtual limit

2014-12-16 Thread Max Reitz
@Mario, in theory an image "that should be taking up 30 GB" with four
snapshots should be taking up at most about 150 GB, of course. Now the
question is what you mean by "should be taking up 30 GB" and by "is
taking 600+ GB".

For the latter, did you query the file length (ls -l) or the actual size
(qemu-img info, "disk size")?

For the former, if you have a virtual disk size of 1 TB and the guest
reports 30 GB are used, that doesn't mean that qemu knows that only 30
GB are used. If you delete a file in the guest, it will report less
space being used; however, qemu doesn't know about that unless the guest
bothers to discard the now unused sectors. If it doesn't (and I don't
see a reason why a guest should discard sectors on an HDD), the guest
will just remove the file metadata but the data will stay there (and may
be overwritten later by the guest when creating new files etc.). qemu
has no idea that that data is now unused, therefore it must treat those
sectors as being in use.

If your image indeed has a virtual disk size of 30 GB, has four
snapshots, is clean (qemu-img check) and does take up 600+ GB of actual
disk space, that should indeed not be happening (unless there's some
case I forgot to consider).

[Bug 1245951] Re: Wrong oFono property used for data technology indication

2014-12-16 Thread Antti Kaijanmäki
I went through the barajas bugs, but can't find a clear dup. John, could
you attach a bug number?

The only situation when the Technology and the Bearer properties differ
is when the mobile broadband connection speed is limited by the operator
to be _lower_ than the cellular networks normal technology; voice might
go through 3G but mobile data is limited to 2G. So the user gets a lower
internet connection speed than actually reported by the indicator.

Then on the other hand, even though if the user has an actual 3G or even
4G mobile broadband connection the actual data transfer speeds sometimes
drop to the equivalent levels of 2G connections depending on the loads
on the carrier network, so the whole icon is more or less a hint of the
ideal connection speeds you _might_ get. Sadly for the customers there
are no definitive requirements for the carriers on minimum throughput.

Anyway, that is a real bug, but there should be no "surprises" for the
user in terms of billing. Hence Medium.

Try:
edit /etc/default/grub and add the 'radeon.dpm=1' to the

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash radeon.dpm=1"

[Bug 1402993] [NEW] Webapps e.g. Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc. doesn't work

2014-12-16 Thread Muntasim Ul Haque
Public bug reported:

Unity Webapps for Facbook, Google+, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc. and the likes don't
work in Ubuntu 14.10 Unity. But it did work fine with Ubuntu 14.04.
Every time I access any of these webapps-intended-sites e.g. Facebook, twitter,
etc., it asks for "Would you like to install nameofthesite for extra
feature...". It should've worked the first time I pressed "yes" button. But it
didn't. This feature is broken in Utpoic whereas it works just fine for Trusty.
Fix this.
No online accounts/social networking or whatevr-you -named-it lens/scope
doesn't appear in Unity Dash. It does appear once I press 'yes' in Trusty but
not for Utpoic.

[Bug 1403008] [NEW] nvidia-331-updates installed by update prevent Gnome shell to start

2014-12-16 Thread Andreas Vollmayr
Public bug reported:

Latest Automatic Update (11.12.2014) prevents gnome shell from starting. No
login screen. Just the ubuntu gnome logo
Still resposible, can be e.g. shut down properly by >halt.
The gnome shell gets stuck during start.
Virtual console works fine.

System:
Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 amd 64

Problem:
Log apt log file says, that for some obscure reason nvidia packages were
installed during the update.
Unfortunatly there is not nvidia graphics card.
Removing all nvidia packages seemed to solve the problem.

[Bug 1245951] Re: Wrong oFono property used for data technology indication

2014-12-16 Thread John McAleely
Users pay for particular grades of service. This bug is that the user
sees a 3G service they are paying for when in fact they are getting 2G.
That might be good for operator PR, but it is bad for ubuntu phone's
credibility.

If you feel the two dupes listed are not dupes, please comment there,
and we can separately discuss them.

[Bug 726832] Re: Touchpad speed scales with multimonitor size per axis

2014-12-16 Thread Dan Smith
I can confirm similar behaviour on 14.04 64-bit with ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad.
As soon as I attach an external monitor over VGA, my touchpad loses precision:
the cursor fidgets as I move it around. I can barely aim it at a button to
click.

[Bug 753520] Re: remmina crashed with SIGSEGV in find_keyboard_layout_in_xorg_rules()

2014-12-16 Thread Bruce Pieterse
Yes steps to reproduce are:

$ sudo apt-get install remmina
$ remmina
Remmina plugin RDP (type=Protocol) registered.
Remmina plugin RDPF (type=File) registered.
Remmina plugin RDPS (type=Preference) registered.
[1]8135 segmentation fault (core dumped) remmina

Additionally now changing it from XKBLAYOUT="za" to "us" or "mao" also
causes a segmentation fault which means the problem has gotten worse
since the initial report and the above workarounds no longer
work.?field.comment=Yes steps to reproduce are:
