[Bug 1380095] Re: Gnome Fallback[s] don't work in 14.04. Work once ONLY if reinstalled

2014-10-15 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
You can try without creating user. Use guest account to login. It is
important as we need understand if your problem is caused by your
customizations/settings.

There is no need for save button. If you changed type to none is dconf-
editor then settings sshould be saved automatically. You wrote that you
have more then 4 panels. Did you changed that setting for all panels?

Have you tried to login in session after changing background to none?

When you try to launch gnome-panel do this:
1) Open gnome-terminal (/usr/bin/gnome-terminal) not gnome-panel
2) Then type in this command:
gnome-panel --replace &

You may need to do it multiple times as --replace command does not work
like it should. Running gnome-panel from terminal will allow you to see
error/warning messages.

[Bug 1374481] Re: Nearby and News scope do not load on reboot

2014-10-15 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
that said ^, I've just done a few reboots with nearby and news
favourited (installed from latest lp:~hanloon-team/hanloon/clicks). When
I reboot, the news scope works just fine every time. The strange one is
the nearby scope. When the nearby scope finishes surfacing, all child
scopes show up but, other than weather, they all show "No Location
found" (which is weird because the weather results are location specific
and correct). Then when I trigger another surfacing (add and remove a
character in the search), the nearby scope then only shows me results
from weather and nearby wikipedia articles, and this time the wikipedia
results are location specific and correct. Every surfacing from then on
do the same.

I assume that since this bug was reported we've been through a number of
updates and hence shifted from issue to issue.

(I'm testing on RTM #88 btw)

[Bug 1374481] Re: Nearby and News scope do not load on reboot

2014-10-15 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
Ok, a further discovery. If I don't have the nearby scope favourited
then reboot. Opening the nearby scope from the Dash Manager works
perfectly. If I tap back then open it again though, I get only the
weather and wiki articles again.

So looks like one issue uncovered is that location data is not available
when this scope starts up on boot. Race between location data becoming
available and the scope requesting it perhaps?

After resuming from a suspend, the MBIM-managed Sierra Wireless EM7305
doesn't seem to properly allow connections if ModemManager had an open
MBIM session during the suspension. After resuming, a connection attempt
will make the device connected, but not working properly.

   [1404835174.470611] (wwp0s20u6c2i12): port now connected

[1404835174.471737] Simple connect state (8/8): All done
(now something happens, and it seems we get a Disconnection via DBus?)

   [1404835181.412289] Modem /org/freedesktop/ModemManager1/Modem/0: state

[1404835181.412634] Launching disconnection on data port (net/wwp0s20u6c2i12)

Would be good to get a set of ModemManager *and* NetworkManager debug
logs of the same run.

This is unrelated sorry; the NotOpened error is actually tracked in bug

Please refer to the original bug report if more details are needed.

The Nexus 7 comes with an Infineon modem, which ModemManager doesn't
properly handle. Once connected, the modem requires some tunneling of
the raw IP data through the serial device.

Work is started, but not yet finished, in the "aleksander/infineon-
rawip" branch in upstream git.

The Ericsson/MBM modems don't use PPP for the data connection, as they
expose a network interface, and therefore the APN authentication
settings (user/pass) are not given to pppd. Instead, ModemManager uses
the following command to preconfigure the authentication settings to use
before launching the connection:

  AT*EIAAUW=2,1,"username","password"

The given username and password are given in the current charset
encoding configured in the modem, which should be UTF-8 preferably.

Now, the problem is that when special characters are required by the
operator, e.g. in the username, the connection will not succeeed. E.g.
for A1/Austria operator:

  AT*EIAAUW=2,1,"p...@a1plus.at","ppp"

The issue may therefore be that we either don't pass the
username/password encoded properly OR that the modem firmware actually
has a bug in that command handling.

Debug logs with MM 1.x are needed.

Also, it would be a good idea to check whether the setting is READ properly
after being written, with:
  AT*EIAAUR=2,1

Note that PPP on the TTY with those same username/password will actually
work.

A solution for this is to install the proprietary driver for this card

I won't tag it with a blocker tag since it works with the proprietary

[Bug 1380674] Re: [needs-packaging] Add new package ubuntu-core-upgrader

Can you add a COPYING file? Also:

./bin/ubuntu-core-prepare-upgrade.sh: GPL (v2)
./bin/ubuntu-core-apply.py: GPL (v2)

while d/copyright says it's GPL-3.0+.

The changelog entry could also close LP: #1380674.

Apart from that: good work!

[Bug 1381359] Re: [SRU] ship new public cert

** Description changed:

Pollinate ships entropy.ubuntu.com's public certificate for tighter
  security.

This certificate has been updated and pollinate needs to be updated.
+
+ [Impact]
+ Any new 14.04 (Trusty) cloud instance with a down-level version of pollinate
will fail to seed their PRNG from entropy.ubuntu.com.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Run:
+ $ sudo pollinate -r
+ to reseed your PRNG. If you have the old version of pollinate, you'll get
certificate errors (See Comment #1), and it will exit non-zero. If you have
the new version (already uploaded to ppa:pollinate/ppa, utopic,
trusty-proposed), it will work again and exit zero (see Comment #2).
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Negligible. A single file is updated with a new public SSL certificate for
https://entropy.ubuntu.com, in /etc/pollinate/entropy.ubuntu.com.pem

More details here: http://curl.haxx.se/docs/sslcerts.html

curl performs SSL certificate verification by default, using a "bundle"
of Certificate Authority (CA) public keys (CA certs). If the default
bundle file isn't adequate, you can specify an alternate file
 using the --cacert option.
If this HTTPS server uses a certificate signed by a CA represented in
the bundle, the certificate verification probably failed due to a
problem with the certificate (it might be expired, or the name might
not match the domain name in the URL).
If you'd like to turn off curl's verification of the certificate, use
 the -k (or --insecure) option.

[Bug 1379796] Re: FFe: Sync nvidia-cuda-toolkit 6.0.37-4 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (non-free)

2014-10-15 Thread Graham Inggs
Thanks. I have synced nvidia-cuda-toolkit 6.0.37-4 and it seems to have built
successfully and is now sitting in Utopic NEW [1].
At what point should I upload starpu-contrib and pycuda for rebuild?

I actually wanted to sync pycuda 2014.1-2, as it seems to be bugfix-
only. Is a no-change rebuild preferred?

pycuda (2014.1-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Install OpenGL and sparse modules files for both Python 2 and 3.
  * Fix problems with debian/copyright pointed by lintian.
  * Update Standards-Version to 3.9.6; no changes necessary.

[Bug 921208] Re: win7/x64 installer hangs on startup with 0x0000005d.

2014-10-15 Thread Eduardo Habkost
Alessandro: see comment #14. If somebody can confirm that Windows 7
works with TCG when using "-cpu kvm64,+nx", I believe we can fix this in
qemu64 soon, when we finally make TCG-qemu64 different from KVM-qemu64.
If it still doesn't work, that means we still have the same status from
comment #11 (TCG not supporting all the features required by Windows 7).

[Bug 1380976] Re: Limiting queue disk space does not work, upgrade needed

2014-10-15 Thread Simon Lundström
To solve the immediate problem you can also just apply this
https://github.com/rsyslog/rsyslog/commit/f6000c70fb6f04fbe38761bb22777070a56eb471.patch
which solves the issue.

I tried to create a debdiff but the package doesn't build currently, I
think because of the recent security patch.

[Bug 1381397] [NEW] Sync git-flow 1.8.0-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

2014-10-15 Thread Gergely Nagy
Public bug reported:

Please sync git-flow 1.8.0-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

The ubuntu delta is a mistake: while it updates to 1.6.0 from Peter
van der Doe, it drops the shell completion. The Debian package is an
upgrade to 1.8.0 and keeps the shell completion. Everything in the
ubuntu delta is in the Debian package, minus the mistake of removing
  the shell completion.

Changelog entries since current utopic version 1.6.1-0ubuntu1:

git-flow (1.8.0-1) unstable; urgency=HIGH

  * New upstream release.
+ Fixes "Bad variable name" error when there are spaces in the current
  directory path. (Closes: #763725)
  * Urgency high due to fixing a grave bug.
  * Updated the watch file, to not create silly named files. This
hopefully fixes the issue on tracker.d.o.

 -- Gergely Nagy Sat, 04 Oct 2014
11:37:42 +0200

git-flow (1.7.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release, moving to Peter van der Does' version.
+ This drops the patch that was applied in 0.4.1-2, and hence reopens
  #642194.
+ All appropriate files (debian/watch, copyright, etc) updated.
+ Completion was switched to Peter's fork too.
  * Debhelper compat level bumped to 9.
  * Standards-Version bumped to 3.9.5 (no changes necessary)
  * Install the example hooks to /usr/share/doc/git-flow/hooks/.

 -- Gergely Nagy Sat, 28 Dec 2013
12:45:13 +0100

This also fixes https://github.com/petervanderdoes/gitflow/issues/166,
which reminded me to request a sync.

** Affects: git-flow (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1381395] [NEW] Missing dependency on qemu-utils in cinder-volume

2014-10-15 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

cinder-volume has a dependency on qemu-img as provided in qemu-utils:

# cinder/image/image_utils.py
qemu-img: EnvFilter, env, root, LC_ALL=C, qemu-img

This is used for converting disk formats in underlying volumes as
required; without it cinder-volume throws errors about being unable to
convert disk types.

[Bug 1313032] Re: Compose key is not working in Xubuntu 14.04

2014-10-15 Thread Tal Liron
I solved this problem for myself by installing IBus.

IBus is not installed by default in Xubuntu 14.04.

(I then had to configure Xfce to use IBus via Settings -> Input Method,
and then logout/login.)

[Bug 1379289] [NEW] Map with "osm" plugin crashes in the emulator

2014-10-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When you start an application in the emulator, with for example:

Location.Map {
id: map
anchors.fill: parent
plugin: Location.Plugin { name: "osm" }
center: QtPositioning.coordinate(38.3470003,-0.4873094)
zoomLevel: 14
gesture.enabled: true
}

The app crash:
Sdk-Launcher> Received a failed event
Sdk-Launcher> Stopping Application
Sdk-Launcher> The Application exited, cleaning up
Sdk-Launcher> Finished

The same code works correctly on the Desktop (14.04) and Ubuntu Phone
running RTM build #3 (tested by another user)

Image Versions Tested: 243 and 273

Thanks

You need to wait until they're published in utopic-proposed - use
rmadison for this. That'll happen after they get out of NEW.

A sync will rebuild the package anyway, there's no need to do both.

Please refer to the original bug report if more details are needed.

The Haier CE81B CDMA modem (VID 0x201e, PID 0x10f8) exposes several
TTYs, but only one of them can be used for data connections. If other
interface is used, the modem will report a successful connection, but
pppd won't be able to setup the IP session:

  NetworkManager[3242]: Activation (ttyUSB2) Stage 4 of 5 (IPv4
Configure Timeout) started...
  NetworkManager[3242]:  (ttyUSB2): device state change: ip-config ->
failed (reason 'ip-config-unavailable') [70 120 5]
  NetworkManager[3242]: Activation (ttyUSB2) failed.
  NetworkManager[3242]: Activation (ttyUSB2) Stage 4 of 5 (IPv4
Configure Timeout) complete.
  NetworkManager[3242]:  (ttyUSB2): device state change: failed ->
disconnected (reason 'none') [120 30 0]

The original reporter made it work by blacklisting if#0 to if#2, while
leaving if#3 as the only TTY allowed to be used by ModemManager:

  # Haier CE81B
  ATTRS{idProduct}=="10f8", ENV{.MM_USBIFNUM}=="02", ENV{ID_MM_CANDIDATE}="0"
  ATTRS{idProduct}=="10f8", ENV{.MM_USBIFNUM}=="01", ENV{ID_MM_CANDIDATE}="0"
  ATTRS{idProduct}=="10f8", ENV{.MM_USBIFNUM}=="00", ENV{ID_MM_CANDIDATE}="0"

The contents of the mounted CD drive are also available:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/l39t0qk2kad9l02/setup_package.tar

The suggested fix is to prepare a new "haier" plugin that flags #if3 as
'data'.

Patch.

This new plugin just creates a generic broadband modem but tags #if3 as
being the primary+data port, so that it takes predenced over any other
tty grabbed.

so yeah #3 should be primary + data like you say.

Messaging seems to be done with the proprietary Qualcomm messaging
commands like AT$QCPMS, AT$QCNMI, AT$QCMGD, AT$QCMGR, AT$QCMGL, but we
also have AT+BMCGMR.

There might be some PIN operation support too with the regular 3GPP PIN
commands.

So if the modem works fine with regular CDMA commands and DIAG then
great, otherwise if somebody cares enough some other support could be
added later.

[Bug 1381410] [NEW] [SRU] 0.86.6 stable update

2014-10-15 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

Upstream released a new point release; its in Debian, however I've
tested on utopic with OpenStack and there is some sort of issue with
client library access which needs looking at so I'm not syncing for
