I don't know   14.04.
I do not want to migrate to higher levels: too many bugs in migrating to 
12.04, some still to be resolved  like this.
I need Ubuntu only to work.
I can't risk getting stuck at other times.

I am experiencing this situation virtually every time when VirtualBox
works in full screen mode on the RIGHT monitor. (Dual monitor setup).

I have used Christopher's solution from #62, but it didn't fix it for
me.

What happened on Trusty was that cryptswap started using UUID instead of
/dev/sdXY names, and the encryption with a random key overwrites the
partition's UUID unless an offset in crypttab is used. So I wouldn't tag
it as a duplicate of a Precise bug, a whole new problem was created by
switching to UUID in Trusty.

That would work in most cases. But what about the case where the text
scrolls, such as a license agreement or ToS? If a line or paragraph
happens to end just above the bottom of the field, there would be no
hint that the text can be scrolled. Perhaps the read-only rendering
should include a frame if, and only if, the text is longer than the
field.

Just pushed another revision to the first upstream change review. This
fixes the plugin on a desktop using ethernet and/or wifi connections.

As for #2. I can make QtNetwork ignore the generic plugin when others are 
present and usable. It is a one line fix.

almost fine : the installer showed me a "it seems there is a GPT table

I haven't been able to test this on 14.04. I use 14.04 now and I believe
the parallel port was disabled in HP driver long ago. If the parallel

Anyway I can't generate a cups report because it doesn't use cups(only
hplip is supported). I thought it was very strange that a parallel port
printer would no longer work because the driver doesn't support parallel
ports. Ideally we, as a community, could just add some kind of cups
driver for this printer an bypass HP altogether. In hteory, everything
is there and works, plus it has worked flawlessly until HP droppedthe
parallel port.

I tested out the Ubuntu Touch emulator with revision 243 and found some strings 
which are not translatable. At least they are not available for translation in 
the packages for Ubuntu Touch translation available here:

Yes, I grep:ed through all of them searching for these strings before 
reporting. I haven't got a clue as in which packages they should be fixed so 
this is a general bugreport.

Settings also have a translatable string for the appname, but it doesn't
pick that up when starting app (see screenshot for clear explanation of
precisly when it's not working).

You are all not fully correct.

Current notifications in unity8 trunk have snap-decisions using "dark on
bright". All other notification-types use "bright on dark". These color-
schemes are static currently.

The unity8 branch (lp:~macslow/unity8/synchronous-notification) up for
review  - introducing the synchronous notification type - also
introduces dynamically adapting color-schemes for all non-snap-decision
notification types. Thus ephemeral, interactive and synchronous
notification-types are able to dynamically switch from "bright on dark"
(default) to "dark on bright" based on two cases...

1.) They show up if one or more snap-decision notification is currently
shown

2.) They show up if an indicator is visible.

Please also see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwEYLXNaL0Q (esp. at
0:23).

It is true that the notification-system can't monitor the average
background color of what is behind it. Gaining that capability is very
unlikely - now and in the future - but this new branch is trying to
solve conceptual UX-flaws for RTM as much as possible. This is certainly
better than what we have currently in unity8 trunk. It will avoid
getting several user-complains of "dark on dark" situations. So this bug
is implicitly fixed in lp:~macslow/unity8/synchronous-notification
already.

Same problem here with Intel D54250WYK NUC box + Audiolab M-DAC which
uses async USB connection for 24/96 audio.

It seems that the problem only occurs with Intel USB3 controllers.
Unfortunately the internal USB2.0 headers in my NUC are controlled by the same 
USB3.0 controller, and there is no option in the BIOS to disable the XHCI 
(USB3) mode.

I tried again and used the intel installer after which I could only boot in 
fallback graphics mode with both your and my custom kernel.
Before I used the installer I could see the screens with your kernel, but there 
was no signal going to them.
No I do not know how to fix this and why it worked in the first place.
Fortunately the original 3.13 kernel still gives me a working desktop :).
Any clues?
Maybe some dkms stuff, not sure. It would be great if someone could explain 
exactly which components are responsible, then I can test in a more structured 
instead of hackish way :).

How to reproduce:

1. Enable the said icons to be displayed on the desktop, in Unity Tweak Tool: 
System->Desktop icons, click on the first three
2. Go to the desktop
3. Try to search for one of those newly-enabled icons

What I expected to happen:

 - The searched icon would be highlighted, just like any of the icons
displayed from the Desktop folder do

What actually happened:

 - The new icons behaved exceptionally, and would not respond to
searches.

Open networks could display a dialog during connection, but that seems
like visual overkill. I suggest instead (a) changing "Continue" to
"Cancel", (b) adding a spinner to the connecting network item (same as
should appear in System Settings), (c) replacing it with a checkmark
when connected, and (d) changing "Cancel" back to "Continue". That would
solve your fourth problem too.

VM using pciattach. Its visiable under Guest OS and after adding
rtl8192ee driver, its able to find PCIe and brings up wlan0 interface.
Its says, Wlan0 link is not ready.

This problem has retuned YET AGAIN, why when it has been OK for some months has 
it re-appeared, is someone updating something to suit some hardware that 
doesn't apply to others, it has affected my Laptop but not so far the Desktop, 
both running Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS at the same current update state?
I have Ubuntu 14.10 Beta dualbooting on my Laptop and so far the keyboard seems 
to have remained as Engilsh (UK) and not changed sinse it was installed and I 
configured it for my normal keyboard use. Is that going to keep changing when 
that is fially released in a few days time?

I have a Dell XPS 18 computer, which comes with Windows 8 preloaded.

I have modified the boot load to load Legacy OPROM with secure boot
switched OFF.

I am trying to load Ubuntu on the 32GB SSD (seen as sdb) pre-installed
on the XPS 18, leaving Windows 8 on my Samsung 250GB SSD (seen as sda).

When I try to install Ubuntu 14.04 from a USB stick (which I had previously 
created), I encounter two problems:
1)  no option is presented asking me where the grub bootloader should be 
installed in the steps leading up to installation (I wish for it to be loaded 
on the same SSD as Ubuntu), and the Ubuntu load crashes with a fatal error at 
the end of installation, while trying to install grub on sda; and
2) subsequent to the fatal error, even if I request that grub is installed on 
sdb it still encounters a fatal error.

A user with database level (not global) privileges to create a routine
is unable to do so from the Routines tab of phpmyadmin due to incorrect
detection of privileges in the phpmyadmin PHP code for databases
containing an underscore in their name. This bug has been documented
(and resolved in phpmyadmin 4.2.6) on the phpmyadmin bugtracker. Pages 2
and 4 of the comment thread there also contains a patch for older
versions, it would be nice to get this applied in Trusty, since this is
an LTS release.

string is the parameter in this case) cannot have insensitive states.
