[Bug 1379572] Re: [krillin] Restart ofono, cause repeated crashes in ril plugin

2014-10-10 Thread Alfonso Sanchez-Beato
@Tony, right, upstart uses the original environment when re-starting
after a crash.

The command line if you want to start/re-start ofono using upstart is:

# stop ofono
# start ofono OFONO_RIL_DEVICE=mtk OFONO_RIL_NUM_SIM_SLOTS=2

or

# restart ofono OFONO_RIL_DEVICE=mtk OFONO_RIL_NUM_SIM_SLOTS=2

2014-10-10 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Public bug reported:

Please sync googleearth-package 1.2.2 (multiverse) from Debian unstable
(contrib)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Move i386 binaries from Depends to Recommends to make
our Britney instance happy.
  * make-googleearth-package: Now finishes without error (LP: #1335021)

Britney happiness is our happyness :)

everything has been merged in debian

Changelog entries since current utopic version 1.2.0ubuntu1:

Sorry I'm still stuck at 12.04.
I don't know 14.04.
I do not want to migrate to higher levels: too many bugs in migrating to
12.04, some still to be resolved like this.
I need Ubuntu only to work.
I can't risk getting stuck at other times.
I keep the access method IDE though less performant.

[Bug 1288747] Re: [334] Parts of the UI randomly flicker when moving the mouse

2014-10-10 Thread Wiktor: Nizio
It affects me on HD 4000, Ubuntu 14.10 with latest updates. Is there a
workaround I could use? Does #130, #120 or #109 apply?

I am experiencing this situation virtually every time when VirtualBox
works in full screen mode on the RIGHT monitor. (Dual monitor setup).

I have used Christopher's solution from #62, but it didn't fix it for
me.

[Bug 1310058] Re: ecryptfs-setup-swap hints after reboot

2014-10-10 Thread Albert Pool
What happened on Trusty was that cryptswap started using UUID instead of
/dev/sdXY names, and the encryption with a random key overwrites the
partition's UUID unless an offset in crypttab is used. So I wouldn't tag
it as a duplicate of a Precise bug, a whole new problem was created by
switching to UUID in Trusty.

[Bug 1379531] Re: Bad source string

2014-10-10 Thread Martin Pitt
While Robert's German skills are quite good, he's a native English
speaker. It's probably worth reviewing if "sides" is appropriate here.
Until that, there's nothing to do on the translation side (unless
translating the string in the first place, which shouldn't be tracked as
a bug).

[Bug 1370571] Re: Read-only text field doesn't look read-only

2014-10-10 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
That would work in most cases. But what about the case where the text
scrolls, such as a license agreement or ToS? If a line or paragraph
happens to end just above the bottom of the field, there would be no
hint that the text can be scrolled. Perhaps the read-only rendering
should include a frame if, and only if, the text is longer than the
field.

As for #2. I can make QtNetwork ignore the generic plugin when others are

[Bug 1361895] Re: Openjdk-8-jdk is a debug build

2014-10-10 Thread Oleg Chirukhin
Silvio, just want to mention that "u40" versions are unstable. It should
be released in march 2015. Current stable (GA) version is u20, it was
released in August.

Here's OpenJDK timeline for both branches:
http://openjdk.java.net/projects/jdk8u/releases/8u20.html
http://openjdk.java.net/projects/jdk8u/releases/8u40.html

I'm really worried that Utopic use an unstable version:
"https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/utopic/+package/openjdk-8-jdk"; is
"8u40~b04-2" instead of "8u20~b26"

"performs as expected"
Are you an OpenJDK developer? (you're not on http://openjdk.java.net/census)
Do you have any formal tests, which show that "GA - March 2015" is a mistake ?

[Bug 1379692] [NEW] unimplemented command "evaluate" in QtCreator's QML/JS console

2014-10-10 Thread Urs Fleisch
Public bug reported:

With Qt 5, the QML/JS console in QtCreator is quite useless. It always
displays 'unimplemented command "evaluate"'. I wonder how the Ubuntu
Touch developers manage to debug their code under such conditions. This
bug is reported upstream and reported to be "fixed by
6333e0913fc0078c0221a8909ced8df03a568992" in Qt 5.4. I suppose this is
commit
.
Could you please check if it is possible to backport this commit?

[Bug 1184725] Re: Laserjet 3150 doesn't print

2014-10-10 Thread WhyteHorse
I haven't been able to test this on 14.04. I use 14.04 now and I believe
the parallel port was disabled in HP driver long ago. If the parallel
port is still disabled then I would recommend filing this bug as an hp
problem.

Anyway I can't generate a cups report because it doesn't use cups(only
hplip is supported). I thought it was very strange that a parallel port
printer would no longer work because the driver doesn't support parallel
ports. Ideally we, as a community, could just add some kind of cups
driver for this printer an bypass HP altogether. In hteory, everything
is there and works, plus it has worked flawlessly until HP droppedthe
parallel port.

[Bug 1379694] [NEW] Non-translatable strings in Ubuntu Touch

2014-10-10 Thread Josef Andersson
Public bug reported:

I tested out the Ubuntu Touch emulator with revision 243 and found some strings
which are not translatable. At least they are not available for translation in
the packages for Ubuntu Touch translation available here:
http://projects.davidplanella.org/stats/utopic/zun (Just a random language
choosen, to list all packages)
Yes, I grep:ed through all of them searching for these strings before
reporting. I haven't got a clue as in which packages they should be fixed so
this is a general bugreport.

See attachment with screenshots. Remember It may be that some of the
strings are translatable in other places in po-files . i.e, System
Settings also have a translatable string for the appname, but it doesn't
pick that up when starting app (see screenshot for clear explanation of
precisly when it's not working).

no data sources -> show right after first login not translatable
empty! -> under indicator menu
Transfers -> in indicator menu
indicator-sound -> in indicator menu
upcoming events -> in indicator men
Phone -> after pushing app icon
System settings -> after pushing app icon
... and I would guess, this would affect the rest of the apps too, as they have
same behaviour
menu with all, communication games etc.

To reproduce:
1) Download latest rev of Ubuntu touch
2) Install and choose a translation thats almost 100 (and has been so for a
while) to make it easier and to be sure translations are coming with the
package). Notice the missing translation as per above when using it.
3) Download all you language files for the packages listed at
http://projects.davidplanella.org/stats/utopic/zun
4) Try to find (i.e. grep or something) the missing occasions and translate
them. Not possible. (Remember It may be that some of the strings are
translatable in other places . i.e, System Settings also have a translatable

[Bug 1378618] Re: volume notification looks bad when an indicator is open

2014-10-10 Thread Mirco Müller
You are all not fully correct.

Current notifications in unity8 trunk have snap-decisions using "dark on
bright". All other notification-types use "bright on dark". These color-
schemes are static currently.

The unity8 branch (lp:~macslow/unity8/synchronous-notification) up for
review - introducing the synchronous notification type - also
introduces dynamically adapting color-schemes for all non-snap-decision
notification types. Thus ephemeral, interactive and synchronous
notification-types are able to dynamically switch from "bright on dark"
(default) to "dark on bright" based on two cases...

1.) They show up if one or more snap-decision notification is currently
shown

2.) They show up if an indicator is visible.

Please also see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwEYLXNaL0Q (esp. at
0:23).

It is true that the notification-system can't monitor the average
background color of what is behind it. Gaining that capability is very
unlikely - now and in the future - but this new branch is trying to
solve conceptual UX-flaws for RTM as much as possible. This is certainly
better than what we have currently in unity8 trunk. It will avoid
getting several user-complains of "dark on dark" situations. So this bug
is implicitly fixed in lp:~macslow/unity8/synchronous-notification
already.

2014-10-10 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot

You seem to have installed the cinnamon package on Ubuntu 13.10.
Unfortunately, that package is not available yet for 14.04. To upgrade
to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS you'll need to either wait for a fix for cinnamon to
be available or uninstall the package and then upgrade.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 1308628] Re: xhci-hda does not support isochronous streaming on usb 2.0 devices

2014-10-10 Thread Andras
Same problem here with Intel D54250WYK NUC box + Audiolab M-DAC which
uses async USB connection for 24/96 audio.

It seems that the problem only occurs with Intel USB3 controllers.
Unfortunately the internal USB2.0 headers in my NUC are controlled by the same
USB3.0 controller, and there is no option in the BIOS to disable the XHCI
(USB3) mode.
I have indicated the problem towards Intel:
https://communities.intel.com/message/255474#255474

Here is a discussion regarding the Linux xhci_hcd isochronous problem:
http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg107264.html

Last mail on 8 May 2014:
"This does seem to point to an incompatibility between the driver and
the Intel xHCI hardware. Figuring out what that incompability is may
not be easy, though..."

[Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver

2014-10-10 Thread Vincent Gerris
I tried again and used the intel installer after which I could only boot in
fallback graphics mode with both your and my custom kernel.
Before I used the installer I could see the screens with your kernel, but there
was no signal going to them.
No I do not know how to fix this and why it worked in the first place.
Fortunately the original 3.13 kernel still gives me a working desktop :).
Any clues?
Maybe some dkms stuff, not sure. It would be great if someone could explain
exactly which components are responsible, then I can test in a more structured
instead of hackish way :).
Thank you

1. Enable the said icons to be displayed on the desktop, in Unity Tweak Tool:
System->Desktop icons, click on the first three
2. Go to the desktop

What actually happened:

 - The new icons behaved exceptionally, and would not respond to
searches.

[Bug 1363400] Re: [wizard] allows to "Continue" without connecting to network

2014-10-10 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Open networks could display a dialog during connection, but that seems
like visual overkill. I suggest instead (a) changing "Continue" to
"Cancel", (b) adding a spinner to the connecting network item (same as
should appear in System Settings), (c) replacing it with a checkmark
when connected, and (d) changing "Cancel" back to "Continue". That would
solve your fourth problem too.

Thank you tnrng! I'm not currently using encrypted swap, but your workaround

[Bug 1240198] Re: Wrong keyboard layout active after booting into desktop

2014-10-10 Thread John Belton
This problem has retuned YET AGAIN, why when it has been OK for some months has
it re-appeared, is someone updating something to suit some hardware that
doesn't apply to others, it has affected my Laptop but not so far the Desktop,
both running Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS at the same current update state?
I have Ubuntu 14.10 Beta dualbooting on my Laptop and so far the keyboard seems
to have remained as Engilsh (UK) and not changed sinse it was installed and I
configured it for my normal keyboard use. Is that going to keep changing when
that is fially released in a few days time?

[Bug 1379718] [NEW] grub installer fails to load (fatal error) on nominated hard drive

2014-10-10 Thread David Sutcliffe
Public bug reported:

I have a Dell XPS 18 computer, which comes with Windows 8 preloaded.

I have modified the boot load to load Legacy OPROM with secure boot
switched OFF.

I am trying to load Ubuntu on the 32GB SSD (seen as sdb) pre-installed
on the XPS 18, leaving Windows 8 on my Samsung 250GB SSD (seen as sda).

When I try to install Ubuntu 14.04 from a USB stick (which I had previously
created), I encounter two problems:
1) no option is presented asking me where the grub bootloader should be
installed in the steps leading up to installation (I wish for it to be loaded
on the same SSD as Ubuntu), and the Ubuntu load crashes with a fatal error at
the end of installation, while trying to install grub on sda; and
2) subsequent to the fatal error, even if I request that grub is installed on
sdb it still encounters a fatal error.

[Bug 1379721] [NEW] Incorrect detection of privileges when creating routine

2014-10-10 Thread strophy
Public bug reported:

A user with database level (not global) privileges to create a routine
is unable to do so from the Routines tab of phpmyadmin due to incorrect
detection of privileges in the phpmyadmin PHP code for databases
containing an underscore in their name. This bug has been documented
(and resolved in phpmyadmin 4.2.6) on the phpmyadmin bugtracker. Pages 2
and 4 of the comment thread there also contains a patch for older
versions, it would be nice to get this applied in Trusty, since this is
an LTS release.

Details here: http://sourceforge.net/p/phpmyadmin/bugs/4489/
