Then let's put it this way: bug #1269405, #1269483, #1269500, #1269669
all mention that the bug is triggered when updating libc6 with dpkg,
which is indeed the case with the bug I experienced two days ago.

[Bug 1303249] [NEW] Indicator-datetime doesn't show evolution/eds calendar color for all-day events (Trusty)

2014-04-06 Thread Khurshid Alam
Public bug reported:

It used to show respective calendar color from evolution for all-day
events & clock/alarm icon for events with time. But with latest update,
it seems it has stopped showing evolution calendar color for all-day
events in indicator-datetime.

However alarm/clock icon still appears as usual. I have attached a
screenshot.

Yes, it really has to be fixed.. by the people maintaining the third
party repository that has the actual bug in it. Ubuntu's core packages
can't put in workarounds for bugs in other repositories.

[Bug 1303139] Re: Kernel panic when dpkg attempts to install libc6

- there.
+ This bug was first described in bug #1269405 , bug #1269483 , bug #1269500 ,
and bug #1269669.
+ It affects users trying to install/upgrade libc6 using dpkg, and in my case
occurred during an upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04.

- In bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/1269731 it
- says it was fixed in upstart 1.11-0ubuntu2, but as of upstart
- 1.12.1-0ubuntu1, it's still there.
+ bug #1271440 describes a similar problem, where the package is not

- To install libc6, one has to add a fake telinit binary to the path, as
- described in one of the tickets.
+ A workaround for the issue is described in bug #1269731. A fake telinit

[Bug 1303250] [NEW] qt5-qmake does not create .pri file for qt script module in qt5/mkspecs/modules

2014-04-06 Thread DimanNe
Public bug reported:

I tried to compile QtCreator with system qmake (from Qt 5.2.1), and
while running qmake I got this message:

$ qmake ../qt-creator/qtcreator.pro LLVM_INSTALL_DIR=/usr/lib/llvm-3.4/
-recursive
<... skipped ...>
Project ERROR: Unknown module(s) in QT: script

It seems that qmake searches folder /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/qt5/mkspecs/modules for installed Qt modules. But the folder does
not contain any file with name "*script*"

Of course this module installed:
$ aptitude show libqt5script5
Package: libqt5script5
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
...

So, now qmake "thinks" that I have not script module.

zenity box (zenity version 3.8.0) using "zenity --list" option only show
a usable window of 2 or 3 lines. The rest of the zenity box is a very

[Bug 1301482] Re: ubuntu 14.04 - sound icon is always blocked

2014-04-06 Thread Andreas Angerer
Heureka! I found out which app(s) trigger this behaviour (so it might
not be a indicator-sound bug):

Starting skype with a LoginSound (this well known waking up sound) seems
to trigger exactly the described behaviour. The sound icon goes red and
stays red even if the sound already subsided...

Strangely JDownloader seems to have the same effect. Although this app
doesn't have sound at all it seems to do exactly the same. As far as I
was able to test it, it's the only Java application that does this

So this is something everyone should be able to reproduce, I'm pretty
sure this is something not specific on my system

As I've mentioned, I believe bug #1269405, bug #1269483, bug #1269500
are identical to bug #1303139. Bug #1269669 affects a different
package, so it seems like a related problem.

However, if you have reason to believe otherwise, then I'll leave it to
you to mark them in the way you think is correct.

[Bug 1247259] Re: rhythmbox unresponsive every few seconds

2014-04-06 Thread Santiago Gala
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected saucy third-party-packages

** Description changed:

Since I updated to 13.10, rhythmbox is not usable. After it starts, it
freezes on every mouse click on different panes, sometimes it recovers,
sometimes it stays apparently forever "gray", and the dialog to "wait or
  kill" appears.

When I arrive to the point where I can "play", it remains unresponsive
and I cannot stop playing or switch songs. This was not happening since
I upgraded from 13.04 last week.

Example output when I start it from command line:

at this stage it has remained gray and unresponsive for more than 2
minutes and I don't know how to play music. I have a big collection
(almost 2 songs), and rhythmbox has remained my player of choice for
its ability to handle this, but it is slowly changing (in 13.04 it was
very slow when it loosed and regained focus, like 10 seconds at 100%
CPU every time. Now it seems to last forever with 100% CPU...

I can help with debugging, I'm a software developer. The machine where I
run it right now is an i7 with 4 cores, 8GB RAM and a fast SSD, so
performance should not be an issue. The same music collection was way
  faster in 12.04 or 12.10...

- In 13.04 rhythmbox also stopped showing the performance year, which is
- still there in the metadata. This is a separate bug that has not been
- fixed in 13.10 :(

[Bug 894302] Re: jar files do not include OSGi metadata

2014-04-06 Thread Lars Noodén
This is carried over from the tail end of bug 1270692

and installed a fresh 5 Apr image from here:

$ sudo apt-get install jitsi

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
jitsi : Depends: default-jre but it is not going to be installed or

[Bug 1303139] Re: Kernel panic when dpkg attempts to install libc6

2014-04-06 Thread Steve Langasek
Any crasher bug in upstart is a very serious problem which we take
seriously. While the issue is resolved for you (since the upgrade is
now over), it's important that we find out the cause of the crash on
your system, so that it doesn't happen to others.

I understand that you don't have any crash files in /var/crash for this.
That's strange, and I'm not sure why that's the case. But there are a
few other things we can look at to try to reproduce the problem.

Assuming you were upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04 using update-manager,
you should have log files in /var/log/dist-upgrade. Can you please
attach the apt.log. apt-term.log, and term.log from this directory?

There have not been other mentions of this bug being seen when upgrading
to upstart 1.12, so it is clearly not trivial to reproduce. It may help
in reproducing this bug to have a complete copy of your upstart
configuration. Can you tar up the contents of your /etc/init directory
(tar zcvf ~/upstart-configs.tgz /etc/init) and attach the resulting
tarball?

[Bug 1303266] [NEW] kubuntu 14.04: gui strange behaviour

2014-04-06 Thread Hans-Peter
Public bug reported:

Hi guys,

14.04 is working great, but I notice this strange thing. I have a Radeon 3100
in my PC. It has two connectors, DVI and VGA.
GUI is working seamless, glxgears showing 60FPS under all conditions (all
effects enabled, wobbly windows and dragging the glxgears window around ...).
When I connect the TV set to the VGA connector everything works as it should.
But after the first boot after shutting down the PC (and disconnecting the TV
set) the GUI is not seamless anymore. glxgears
shows FPS between 50 and 60, dropping down to 30 if dragging the window around.
After the second boot it is the same. The gui is stuttering.
After the third boot everything is fine. No stutter, glxgears shows 60FPS under
all conditions.

This is always the same. The system needs to be booted 3 times until it
is recovered from the connection at the VGA port.

I have added the logs, in which I can't see anything noticeable. But
maybe you guys do

regards,
Hans-Peter

[Bug 1303139] Re: Kernel panic when dpkg attempts to install libc6

2014-04-06 Thread David Oftedal
The bug occurs when dpkg tries to install libc6 deb, and this triggers
the telinit command.

As you are adamant that this bug is unrelated to the several bugs that
are already filed which describe this exact problem, I've decided not to
spend any more time on it.

If you wish to investigate the issue yourself, then I recommend you
install 13.10 on a system and upgrate it with do-release-upgrade.

[Bug 1303271] [NEW] Spacebar and top-row 4 not working since upgrade to trusty

2014-04-06 Thread Andrew McCarthy
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to 14.04 Trusty the space-bar and top-row 4 don't work
normally in the GUI, but they do work in the text console. Shift-space
works, and shift-4 produces a $, etc. The 4 on the number-pad works
fine. I have tried adding and removing keyboard layouts but it doesn't
help.

Other computers I have upgraded don't have this problem. I've tested
this with both a wireless USB keyboard and a wired PS2 keyboard; there's
no difference. Beyond the xev information below, I'm not sure how else
to debug this.

Here's the xev output from pressing space. There's a KeyRelease event,
but no KeyPress:

FocusOut event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor

FocusIn event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x421,

This is the output of shift-space:

Finally, here's the output of pressing the top-row 3, which works normally:

[Bug 1301549] Re: Black screen after logging in after resume in Xubuntu 14.04

2014-04-06 Thread Jan Drewes
I found that apparently it had nothing to do with lightdm. It was a
conflict between xfce-power-manager and systemd. This solution worked
for me, suspend and resume now work:

[Bug 1303276] [NEW] gpgv crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___libc_malloc()

2014-04-06 Thread Mark Bennison
Public bug reported:

The computer was idling and the screen was off - I had perhaps been away
for 20 to 30 minutes. On unlock of the screen I saw the error message
(probably not as a result of unlocking the screen). Only thing running
was Chrome.

I had also just updated the latest patches etc for the 64bit 14.04
release. Perhaps this is relevant.

[Bug 1298082] Re: Icon does not appear in application menu

2014-04-06 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting this issue.

I'm not able to reproduce this on my Ubuntu Trusty system. (Though note
that I'm mainly running Ubuntu, but installed xubuntu-desktop to take a
look at this, so an out-of-the-box Xubuntu system might behave
differently). Though, when I search for Widelands in the menu, it
displays the logo as expected (see attached screenshot). Could you check
if this is still the case on an up-to-date system?

Btw, when reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. This will include
version numbers and other relevant information.

Can you try latest I-build with export SWT_WEBKIT2=true ? There is
experimental webkit2 support which runs certain things out of process
thus improves stability greatly.

[Bug 1239187] Re: typo in the word application

2014-04-06 Thread Steve Langasek
The unixodbc package hasn't shipped a godbcconfig utility since 2006,
and it doesn't exist at all in the package source since at least 2012.
I don't know why this translation template still exists in launchpad,
but this isn't a bug in the unixodbc package.

I'm testing the latest I-build as you suggested. seems to be ok since
hours, but I needed to include SWT_GTK3=0 in order to edit VM properties
in the laucher configurations dialog or select items in an import from
existent installation dialog.

[Bug 1303285] [NEW] No sound after suspend/resume

2014-04-06 Thread Julien Aubin
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm using the following system :
Kubuntu 14.04 AMD64
AMD Phenom 9850
Mobo Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe w/ chipset NForce 570 SLI

The issue that after a resume I always have no sound. The culprit is
likely to be pulseaudio, as once I've killed it sound partially
reappears for KDE system sounds. However for other apps, like for
example VLC, this does not work.

I've also remarked something very strange, i.e. after a resume another
pulseaudio process is always started, don't know why, so this may be the
cause of a mess, and when we attempt to kill it sound is not redirected
to the PA process which was launched prior the suspend.
