[Bug 1274830] Re: KDE updater asks for password two times

2014-01-31 Thread Harald Sitter
Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the
KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate
your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at
https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this
speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more
effective debugging.

Thanks!

[Bug 1274833] [NEW] PolicyKit fails to allow the org.gnome.cpufreqselector action

2014-01-31 Thread Forest
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to configure Xubuntu 13.10 (saucy) in such a way that I can
change the CPU governor and maximum frequency (using cpufreq-set)
without sudo. I created an
/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/org.gnome.cpufreqselector.pkla
file with the following contents:

[CPU Frequency Governor]
Identity=unix-user:myusername
Action=org.gnome.cpufreqselector
ResultActive=yes
ResultAny=yes
ResultInactive=yes

Even after rebooting and logging back in as myusername, cpufreq-set
--max 1GHz fails with exit code 218. (The same command works fine as
root.) I've tried it from a text console, from an X terminal, and from
within an Xfce panel widget, all resulting in the same failure. I've
tried a few different ResultActive/ResultAny/ResultInactive combinations
in my .pkla file, but they didn't make a difference. I've tried
relocating the file to the /var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/
directory, but it didn't help. Both polkitd and polkit-gnome-
authentication-agent-1 are running.

Furthermore, I see that Ubuntu already placed the following in
/var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/10-vendor.d/com.ubuntu.desktop.pkla:

[Change CPU Frequency scaling]
Identity=unix-group:admin;unix-group:sudo
Action=org.gnome.cpufreqselector
ResultActive=yes

I believe that means that even without my local .pkla file, I should be
able to use cpufreq-set as myself, since I am in the sudo group. Yet it
doesn't work.

[Bug 1268197] Re: UI freeze when doing import from 'Music' folder on first run

2014-01-31 Thread Ville Ranki
I think i can confirm this. I'm updating a large collection mounted on a sftp
share. Importing
progresses quite long, but after a while (1 hour or so ) ui becomes
unresponsive. This happens every time.

Here's a backtrace of the issue. The cause may also be in libgio.

[Bug 1274844] [NEW] Signal processing broken on x86_64 with version 331.20

2014-01-31 Thread Matteo Panella
Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd:
Description:Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
Release:12.04

Package version: 331.20-0ubuntu0.0.1

On precise with linux-generic-lts-raring signal processing is broken by the
latest available version (331.20).
This is a known bug fixed in upstream release 331.38.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open gnome-terminal
2. Run cat
3. Hit Ctrl-C

Expected result:
cat should get a SIGINT and terminate

Actual result:
SIGINT is never dispatched to cat and it does not terminate

As an alternative, the issue can be reproduced using VMware Player:
virtual machines won't startup because vmware-vmx would get an
unwarranted SIGSEGV and crash.

[Bug 1271484] Re: Clock doesn't update after changing time zone

2014-01-31 Thread Martin Pitt
My strong suspicion is that this watches for /etc/timezone changes, but
on the phone this never actually changes. This is just a symlink to
/etc/writable/. So I suppose before you set up a file watch you do a
realpath() call to ensure that you always watch for changes to the
actual file.

[Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too

2014-01-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
> On my session, XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME

that seems buggy, what is setting that variable? it should be set by
gnome-session (if you use it) to whatever session you use, that's what
we use to specify behaviours for GNOME and Unity specific differences.
That seems a bug in your environment/whatever sets it for you rather
than one in nautilus

Maybe an error due the first upgrade.

[Bug 1274857] [NEW] wi-fi continually fails to connect (after previous success)

2014-01-31 Thread Roger Peppe
Public bug reported:

Wi-fi had been working fine, but this morning, nothing doing.

syslog shows many instances of:

Activation (wlan0/wireless): association took too long, failing
activation.

Some info which may or may not be relevant:

Removing the network and adding it made no difference.
Deactivating, then reactivating the hardware wi-fi network switch made no
difference.
This was happening on two independent wi-fi networks (my hotel and the bluefin
office)
Rebooting fixed the issue.
Closing the laptop did not reliably send it to sleep last night.
Two competent Canonical engineers were unable to diagnose the problem.

Thanks!

[Bug 1267818] Re: Please remove qtmultimedia private headers usage to work with Qt 5.2

2014-01-31 Thread Timo Jyrinki
I tried hacking something quickly, and pushed a branch to under lp
:~phablet-team/qtvideo-node/support_qt52 where it can be co-worked.
Could someone who knows a bit more what he's doing than me look at it
and see if it could be finished? :)

I copied qsgvideonode_p.h and qtmultimediaquickdefs_p.h to the sources
for build to succeed with only qtdeclarative5-private-dev and
qtmultimedia5-dev. I additionally noticed that QSGMaterial had moved to
under a subdirectory in Qt 5.2 so there needed to be #ifdef for that.

It built fine against Qt 5.2:
https://launchpad.net/~canonical-qt5-edgers/+archive/qt5-beta2/+sourcepub/3883608/+listing-archive-extra

Unit tests were disabled since there's a linker error. But at least this
gives the PPA the package so that cameraplugin-aal and qtvideo-node
itself do not need to be removed when upgrading.

[Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too

2014-01-31 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Yes this environment variable is set by gnome-session.
In fact, this Cairo-Dock session is like the former Gnome Panel session but
with another panel. So I guess we can see it as a Gnome Fallback session where
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME and DESKTOP_SESSION is not set to gnome (but
gnome-fallback or something like that).

This is why I think the question should be: do we have to re-enable the
traditional titlebar on Gnome Fallback sessions too?
Currently, when using Compiz on a Gnome session, it's not possible to easily
resize the window (except with Alt+middle click)

[Bug 1267863] Re: indicator-keyboard don't work correctly

2014-01-31 Thread denkin
I will refresh information, - now I have a problem with keys Shift+Alt too.
1. If I press Shift + Alt is not switching.
2. Holding Shift - release Alt button and press Alt again. Layout switched
normally.

If you release Shift, then to switch layout you need to repeat this
steps again. (Pressing Alt 2 times, but not 1 time, sometimes)

When I install this combination (Shift+Alt) onetime - 2 days this worked
correctly, but have a problem on third day (all updates installated
every day, proposed repository is switch on)

dozens of people are reporting it. "trusty-test" is:
1. set up a pc or a laptop,
2. Make sure you trace everything what happens in the system before the freeze.
2. Run it for a week with Unity and Chrome - and it can deffo be reproducible.

What other kind of trusty test are we looking for an intermittent
problem?

[Bug 1212208] Re: quilt patches are not applied during --unbuilt-tree build

2014-01-31 Thread Martin Pitt
I agree that dpkg-source --before-build is the right thing to do here.
That won't apply patches for 1.0 formats, which adt really shouldn't do
(as debian/rules will), and it avoids introducing a new quilt
dependency.

For this case you can just remove/comment it out of

[Bug 1270572] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 should have gnome-tweak-tool installed by default because of many settings that are missed gnome-control-center

2014-01-31 Thread Daniel Fett
Just to clarify, you see no need for users to have the option to change
the keyboard layout while another button is pressed? I am very used to
this feature and I am very annoyed by the decision to remove it. I don't
care whether the feature is in the gnome tweak tool, in the default
gnome keyboard settings or somewhere else.

[Bug 1267818] Re: Please remove qtmultimedia private headers usage to work with Qt 5.2

2014-01-31 Thread Timo Jyrinki
** Description changed:

Hi. Please consider dropping usage of Qt Multimedia's private headers
from qtvideo-node and qtubuntu-camera, or more exactly the build
dependency on qtmultimedia5-private-dev. If there is a need that cannot
dropped, consider if it could be suggested to upstream to change
something a bit by explaining the use case.

Debian is dropping all private headers that are not required to build Qt
itself, and using of private headers is discouraged anyhow. We've synced
with Debian for Qt 5.2, and therefore qtvideo-node and qtubuntu-camera
(and anything that depends on those) are not building at the moment.

  Buidl logs

This bug is similar in spirit to bug #1254051 which was fixed for
qtubuntu, when qtsensors private headers were dropped.

2014-01-31 Thread Michał Sawicz
"ApplicationManager REJECTED connection from app with pid 2921 as no

 in unity8.log
somehow unity-mir and upstart didn't talk to each other about launched apps
so upstart didn't tell unity8/unity-mir that this app was launched, so it was
rejected when it connected to Mir
we'd need to reproduce locally, any steps in particular?

[Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too

2014-01-31 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Yes I think that they always use the same XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP env variable but
DESKTOP_SESSION is different.
I can't test it right now but there you can see some reports by other users:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2184682&page=19 and
http://askubuntu.com/questions/70296/is-there-an-environment-variable-that-is-set-for-unity

(but it's also possible that since GNOME 3.10, they have change some env
variables :-) )

[Bug 1272621] Re: Resolution higher than 1024×768 for Acer x233h external monitor is not available

2014-01-31 Thread Chris Wilson
No EDID is found for your monitor (and the hardware doesn't report any
errors when trying to retrieve it). So you have to add the modes
manually (xorg.conf or with xrandr, or maybe there is a gui option by
now?) or pass a fake EDID to use.

[Bug 1269600] Re: [Macmini5, 1] Kernel Panic when using Magic Touchpad

[Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too

2014-01-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The changes happened in the oneiric cycle, see

" * debian/patches/52_xdg_current_desktop.patch:
- Set XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP inside gnome-session based on a

You are right that the GNOME classic session seems to use "GNOME" as a
session name though, maybe that should be changed
