[Bug 1260297] Re: status_update not sent any more, causes eternal hang on conffile prompts in aptdaemon
Indeed, run unit tests against the source tree during package build (failing the build if they fail), and integration tests in autopkgtest against the system-installed package. The latter don't necessarily need to be the same upstream tests; coverage of fine details is already handled during package build, it's sufficient to have some kind of smoke test that "apt-get update", "apt-cache search", "apt-get install" etc. work in general: I. e. binaries are installed, dependencies are correct, expected directories in /var exist, and so on. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1260297 Title: status_update not sent any more, causes eternal hang on conffile prompts in aptdaemon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1260297/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yeah. same here. However, it's not just about not having a connection. [Bug 1256949] Re: Dell Latitude E5420 doesn't boot if killswitch is turned to "radio off"
@meamy - I don't think putting apport/dropbear into the initramfs is a good idea, no. Please can you boot without 'quiet' and without 'splash' but add '--debug' and attach a photo of the screen. What do you mean that you could never reach the login screen with crtl+alt+f8?: 1) Did the system fail to switch to vt8? 2) Did the system correctly switch to vt8 but not display a login prompt? If you are comfortable doing so, I would recommend booting again without 'splash' and without 'quiet' and adding 'init=/bin/sh'. Then, once you have been dropped to a shell: # /sbin/getty -8 38400 tty8 & # exec /sbin/init --debug /dev/console 2>&1 At that point, upstart will start to boot the system. Again, pleas try switching to vt8 with ctrl+alt+f8 and see if you can login and run apport-collec. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1256949 Title: Dell Latitude E5420 doesn't boot if killswitch is turned to "radio off" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/1256949/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1259237] Re: Hybrid graphics enablement in 12.04.4
** Description changed: - This a bug report to enable power saving on systems with NVIDIA Optimus - in 12.04 + SRU request: - Required components: + Please accept the following packages in precise-proposed. lightdm nvidia-prime - nvidia-331 - nvidia-331-updates + nvidia-graphics-drivers-331 + nvidia-graphics-drivers-331-updates + nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 + nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates + nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 nvidia-settings screen-resolution-extra bbswitch + + + [Rationale] + This is the result of the HWE effort to bring power management to systems with NVIDIA Optimus. + + [Impact] + Without this work, we keep both GPUs on all the time, thus heavily impacting on battery life. Thanks to this work, it is now possible to easily disable the discrete card when raw power is not needed. + + Furthermore nvidia-prime has better hardware detection now, and won't + try to enable hybrid graphics on desktop systems any more. + + As for the technical details: + * bbswitch is a backport of the package that now lives in main in 14.04. + * The actual work happened in lightdm, nvidia-331, nvidia-331-updates, nvidia-prime, screen-resolution-extra, and nvidia-settings. + * nvidia-settings now replaces all the different nvidia-settings flavours, so as to reduce the maintainance effort. I patched the app so that it checks the driver version (at runtime) and doesn't expose features that older driver releases do not support. + * nvidia-331 and nvidia-331-updates replace 319 and 319-updates. These are the new LTS releases by NVIDIA. + * nvidia-304 and nvidia-304-updates recommend the new nvidia-settings, include a security update, and build against the upcoming Linux 3.11 (lts-saucy). + * nvidia-173, in addition to being compatible with Linux 3.11 (lts-saucy), also introduces transitional packages for 173-updates, as it doesn't make sense to maintain a separate -updates flavour any more. + + + [Test Case] + After installing the update, users should be able to boot the system as usual, with no regressions of any kind. + + * Systems with a single NVIDIA card: nvidia-prime will detect the + hardware and do nothing at all on unsupported systems (such as the one + card use case, or the desktop use case) + + * Systems with NVIDIA Optimus: nvidia-prime will preserve its previous + behaviour by leaving both GPUs on. Users can launch nvidia-settings and + switch to the power profile that they need. + + [Regression Potential] + Low. The new features are enabled only if the user manually selects them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1259237 Title: Hybrid graphics enablement in 12.04.4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bbswitch/+bug/1259237/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1260513] Re: 045e:00f9 [Gateway DX4860] Horizontal scrolling is broken with specific external mouse device
Val, thank you for providing the requested information. Given a solution was found through a modification in evdev, I'll reassign to it. This wouldn't be considered a duplicate of another bug at this point (ex. 926917) or vice versa as the other report doesn't have any log files for the original reporter, and the proposed patch hasn't been acknowledged by the OR to fix his problem. The next step would be to engage evdev upstream in getting this reviewed for upstream inclusion by filing a report: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=xorg Component: Input/evdev ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) => xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Triaged ** Summary changed: - 045e:00f9 [Gateway DX4860] Horizontal scrolling is broken with specific external mouse device + 045e:00f9 [Gateway DX4860] Horizontal scrolling is broken with 9-button Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1260513 Title: 045e:00f9 [Gateway DX4860] Horizontal scrolling is broken with 9-button Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1260513/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1165433] Re: Kernels from 3.8.x to 3.11.x panic on bluetooth DUN disconnect
Sergio Callegari, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc3 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. [Bug 1256061] Re: clock forcefully switches from 24h to 12h AM/PM format once the panel clock is loaded
OK I misattributed missing AM/PM label to this actually being fixed. Aaanyway. The time label for both the greeter and the panel comes pre- formatted from indicator-datetime directly. So no qtubuntu, no unity8 issue - indicator-datetime needs to fix the label it sends up. ** Changed in: indicator-datetime Status: Invalid => New ** Changed in: unity8 Status: Incomplete => Invalid ** Changed in: indicator-datetime Assignee: (unassigned) => Charles Kerr (charlesk) ** Changed in: unity8 Assignee: Michał Sawicz (saviq) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1256061 Title: clock forcefully switches from 24h to 12h AM/PM format once the panel clock is loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-datetime/+bug/1256061/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: Currently we try to offload graphics rendering to the discrete NVIDIA GPU when we detect systems with an Intel integrated GPU and an NVIDIA discrete card regardless of whether the computer is a desktop or a laptop. - While this is a perfectly desirable feature on a + While this is a perfectly desirable feature on a laptop, where the + internal display is always driven by the integrated GPU, on a desktop + system, users will probably add a discrete card to get better + performance and connect the monitor to it (instead of using the + integrated card). This will result in a black screen on boot because the + xserver will expect the monitor to be connected to the Intel card. Users + should disable the Intel card from the BIOS instead. + + For this reason, Jockey should check that it's dealing with a laptop + before suggesting the installation of the NVIDIA drivers on systems with + hybrid graphics.
