[Bug 1235105] [NEW] Wrong dead key on us-intl keyboard layout

2013-10-04 Thread Tiago Hillebrandt
Public bug reported:

Since first version of Ubuntu I used (6.06), when I press "Apostrophe"
key and then "c" the result was "ç".

However, now when I use the same sequence in Saucy Salamander (up-to-
date) I get "ć".

Keyboard Layout: USA (international with dead keys)
System Language: pt_BR.UTF-8

I know, looks like a simple deal, but this change of experience can be
problematic for some users.

2013-10-04 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Please test a built package from ppa:canonical-qt5-edgers/qt5-daily
(make sure you get updates to version
5.0.2+dfsg1-7ubuntu10~saucy1~test1) and give feedback. Then add it to
Landing Asks page in the landing google doc saying that it's included in
the packaging branch and ready to land.

[Bug 1235110] [NEW] boot parameter "cgroup_disable=memory"

2013-10-04 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

Glancing at dmesg, i'm testing that boot parameter, but got surprised
about the result:

[0.00] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-11-generic
root=UUID=9e61e83e-bca9-43cf-aa90-5a68892213fa ro
crashkernel=384M-2G:64M,2G-:128M cgroup_disable=memory
[0.00] Disabling memory control group subsystem

so it seems working; but later i'm seeing:

[0.008534] Initializing cgroup subsys memory
[0.008590] Initializing cgroup subsys devices
[0.008636] Initializing cgroup subsys freezer
[0.008682] Initializing cgroup subsys blkio
[0.008728] Initializing cgroup subsys perf_event
[0.008776] Initializing cgroup subsys hugetlb

thats making me confused; i was beleiving that all these processes been
replaced by zram process inside the recent kernels. Am i wrong ?

[Bug 1232469] Re: Apache coredump when started with dbd and php5 enabled

2013-10-04 Thread Torsten Knodt
There is someone with a probably related problem on Apache 2.4 if he uses
mod_dbd and ssl:
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/httpd-users/201307.mbox/%3CCAN5euqn8jrfOyx9933DvXRb_4Cv+MBPAWuKkV2LmZ=fh1kj...@mail.gmail.com%3E
 .
Based on this I have replaced mod_ssl with mod_gnutls and all seems to work.
Nevertheless I will try to reproduce my problem on a fresh installation and
provide steps to reproduce it.

hmm... I might have been mistaken with the image number then. It wasn't

Yeah... I guess the rw image + system updates isn't the best, but I have
to make it rw to be able to work with the device.

[Bug 1228570] Re: Login often fails

2013-10-04 Thread Chris Fox
I've got the same problem in Ubuntu 13.04. After login, I get a blank
screen for about a second, then it goes back to lightdm. Removing either
.ICEauthority or .Xauthority solves the problem. The problem reappears
(to me) seemingly random, so not necessarily after each successful
login.

[Bug 1235129] [NEW] Sync dh-python 1.20131003-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-10-04 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Public bug reported:

Please sync dh-python 1.20131003-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

In previous versions dist fallback files were not installed, which
caused dh-python to generate wrong package dependencies (see i.e.
http://bugs.debian.org/725236 or http://lists.debian.org/debian-
python/2013/09/msg00135.html).

Other changes are also fixes for bugs that we want to see in Saucy.

Changelog entries since current saucy version 1.20130913-1:

dh-python (1.20131003-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Revert python-docutils build dependency change (to avoid circular
dependencies)
  * Install PyDist fallback files

 -- Piotr Ożarowski Thu, 03 Oct 2013 18:06:37 +0200

dh-python (1.20130917-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * dh_python{2,3}:
- bump minimum required python{,3}:any version to workaround #723586
- generate :any dependencies to specify range of supported Python versions
(doesn't include extensions case), closes: 723070

[Bug 1235105] Re: Wrong dead key on us-intl keyboard layout

2013-10-04 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1235105/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1235016] Re: Auto display dimming shows brightness meter popup

2013-10-04 Thread Harald Sitter
Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the
KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate
your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at
https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this
speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more
effective debugging.

Thanks!

[Bug 1174275] Re: Random system freeze in 13.04

2013-10-04 Thread max
Hi.
Had the same issues with ubuntu 12.04/12.10/13.04 on my laptop.
The solution I found is to replace the kernel with the upstream kernel
3.9.0-030900-generic.
It breaks the wifi , but that was fixed by installing the driver provided by
Broadcom.
It's been 3 days since my last freeze ... still in testing.

[Bug 1039612] Re: notification helper > reboot action dont respect plasma-style

2013-10-04 Thread Harald Sitter
Mh. There is a rationale for why it is not using a monochrome icon and
it has been discussed many times as to whether that should be
changed.

Basically it comes down to the reboot notification being a system
notification. It is not like the random chat application cluttering the
systray, the presence of this icon should invoke fear in the user so
that they reboot the system :P. Not doing so as soon as possible can and
(depending on what was upgraded) will cause bogus behavior due to
runtime conflicts between what was installed (and therefore is loaded
right now) and what was installed (what will be loaded from now on).

Pretty much the same goes for the bulb as it requires your attention
right now to ask you a couple of question so it can automagically fix
your user experience.

The download thing I will agree with though, this should be monochrome.
But actually the plan is to get rid of it entirely because it causes
terrible confusion due to lack of context (i.e. from a visual POV there
is no link between the panel and rekonq so it's not clear what the
download thing is triggered by etc.). Long term solution here is to move
notifications into its own library and then have the notificatino inside
the app (such as through kmessagewidget).

Finally I am still pro-monochrome, and ultimately we'd have monochrome-
style icons with color (i.e. still set them visually a part from the
other icons but stylewise fit in with them). Problem here is that we
have no artwork for that, so unless you know a good icon artists who'd
be willing to create these new icons I don't see that happening soon.

[Bug 366728] Re: LD_LIBRARY_PATH not loading from .profile nor /etc/environment

2013-10-04 Thread noon
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 47958 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/47958

The cleanest workaround would be the comment #17 above (except maybe naming the
file 89preserve_ld_library_path instead of 90preserve...).
The fix would be to add that code into the 90x11-common_ssh-agent script with
an explanatory comment.

[Bug 1234450] Re: [gm45] Laptop Screen doesn't return after suspend

2013-10-04 Thread Chris Wilson
This just sounds like regular LVDS fail - nothing specific to
suspend&resume, just that is the easiest way to provoke the bug. My
presumption would be failed sanitizing after the BIOS messes up state.
Can you please grab intel_reg_dumper (from intel-gpu-tools) and run it
before and after s&r?

[Bug 1201763] Re: System notification helper shows ridiculous number of messages

2013-10-04 Thread Harald Sitter
There already is a safe guard inside KNH to prevent multiple
notifications at the same time.

What kind of upgrade was it? Did the sleep really happen *after* apt-get
was done or may it have been *while* apt-get was still working? What
kind of apt-get GUI/version/etc did you use for the upgrade? Can you at
all reproduce this issue?

[Bug 1235143] [NEW] libcommons-lang-java is incorrectly marked as a dependency of libcommons-cli-java

2013-10-04 Thread picomancer
Public bug reported:

I'm writing a Java program and I want to use Apache Commons command line
parser. I install libcommons-cli-java like this:

$ sudo apt-get install libcommons-cli-java

...
The following extra packages will be installed:
  libcommons-lang-java
...

But none of the code in libcommons-cli-java requires libcommons-lang-
java to run. You can easily see this by doing the following:

mkdir temp
cd temp
jar xvf /usr/share/java/commons-cli-1.2.jar
find . -type f | xargs strings | grep lang | grep -v java/lang
find . -type f | xargs strings | grep org.apache.commons.lang

(NB class names are actually in class files as org/apache/commons/lang,
but the dot character is actually a wildcard in grep, so this command
actually does search for what I claim it searches for)

You can see the only occurrence of the string "lang" is in the license;
the class files only contain references to java.lang (Java language
builtins). There is no mention of org.apache.commons.lang (the Java
package provided by libcommons-lang-java)!

Someone should probably report this bug to Debian, since Debian seems to
suffer from this problem as well -- see http://packages.debian.org/sid
/libcommons-cli-java
