[Bug 1130781] Re: Can't mount samba share with krb/multiuser at bootup in fstab
> I'm not sure if it doesn't auto-mount due to clock skew or not, Well, this is exactly the diagnosis given in the message you linked to. So if it's clock skew, it must be a bad system clock, or a bad clock value in your BIOS clock. > if I login and manually mount at as root, then it works fine. That's not surprising, if the clock is being set from NTP immediately afterwards. This could happen because the /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate script which sets the clock also does this in the background, so if you have a bad system clock and are getting the time from the network, there's a race condition and the clock may not yet be set by the time the attempt is made to mount the share. > It's hard for me to troubleshoot this now as I was trying this in > February & it is now October. This machine has long ago been rebuilt. I take this to mean that you're no longer able to reproduce the problem. The contents of the ntp package do certainly indicate a race condition, so there's a real bug; but without further information about why this was causing problems for you specifically, the theory is that this only happens with a broken BIOS clock, so is a low priority to fix. ** Package changed: mountall (Ubuntu) => ntp (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: ntp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: ntp (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1130781 Title: Can't mount samba share with krb/multiuser at bootup in fstab To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ntp/+bug/1130781/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1060907] Re: NetworkManager stores wifi passwords in plain text
It may look as this is an implementation problem rather than a problem with Network Manager itself. Though I still believe that even allowing passwords to be stored as text is a security flaw, it is possible to configure NM so that it does not store passwords in text files. I have tried KDE and had no problem saving the password in the Kwallet. I wonder why Unity is not configured like KDE. Is the problem with nm-connection-editor, NetworkManager or somewhere else entirely? [Bug 1234546] [NEW] Plymouth screen refresh is bad when Live USB is started in UEFI mode

[Bug 1234552] [NEW] regression: calendar dropdown did not roll over to October
Public bug reported: My colleague and I regularly use the month-view calendar dropdown to check times in particular time zones and to help work out numerical dates such as "two Mondays prior to 25 Sept" and so on. This morning we had a baffling conversation because he mentioned that 7 October was a Saturday. Looking at my calendar, I saw that he was correct, but then I realized that it was showing me September (and yes, 7 Sept was a Saturday). Skipping forward to October got me the right data. This reminds me suspiciously of bug #649800 which I filed against the Maverick beta back in 2010, and I suspect this is a regression. [Bug 1060907] Re: NetworkManager stores wifi passwords in plain text
The problems I have identified so far: 1. If you have the rights org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.own you will not be able to make a connection by selecting available networks. 2. The option "Available to all users" seems to be implied when you select a connection from available networks. 3. When you give them org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.system I see no way of enforcing "Ask for this password every time" 4. Even when you make a connection that is not available to all users it still stores the password as text in /etc/NM... and only add the user name that is allowed to use the connection. What we need is the possibility to create a connection by selecting it from the list of available networks (eduroam) and have it so that the password for each user is stored in the users wallet or keyring. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1060907 Title: NetworkManager stores wifi passwords in plain text To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/1060907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi The_Letter_J and thanks for your detailed answer. The script looks handy in parts, but I don't get why you're trying to play back a configuration file... > In my particular case, the symptoms were not exactly as described, from > what I can garner. Having a look at your hardware, I notice that your bug is similar, but a different one. In fact, just running a 3.5+ ubuntu kernel (or 3.6+ upstream kernel) fixes this bug completely, so it *must* be a different bug. That's also why the symptoms are not exactly as described either. In your case, you have unusual hardware: in addition to normal headphones and stereo line out, you have 5.1 internal speakers. This leads to unusual alsamixer names (e g "Speaker Front") which we do not match for in PulseAudio. Fixing that means that we should add those names in PulseAudio - but let's discuss that in a new bug instead. > p.s. This was a dastardly difficult problem to track down. Most forums recommend that you search for your > audio-chipset, not for your model-and-vendor, but this bug does not show > up thataway currently. Over 80% of audio bugs, including this one, are specific to the codec *configuration*, which is usually best described with the PCI SSID number or vendor+model. Bugs specific to a codec (Realtek ALC892) or controller chip (Intel ICH6) are much less common. The major exception to this rule is HDMI/Displayport audio or external audio devices. > Something quite brief, > like the following, would suffice: > > Do not see your speakers?(with a hyperlink that takes them to this > bug-report) > Do not see your microphone? Problem: OpenGl shading language (GLSL) uniform variables seem to stay undefined, or lose their value somewhere. Tested with a WebGl app as well as a C++ (Qt) application. This bug is also reported a driver issue. If it is related to this driver issue, why is the (old) buggy driver re-installed with 13.04? thanks. [Bug 1234549] Re: package pm-utils-powersave-policy 0.3.1 failed to install/upgrade: cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Bug 1036830] Re: Can't log in unless remove .Xauthority or use gdm
As Timo says this is absolutely repeatable, on all my Saucy machines. Log in via lightdm then login via ssh from another machine using ssh -X. [Bug 1234588] Re: Can't go back to the summary after opening a specific subpanel
I'm making it also affect upstart-app-launch, since it's part of the picture for the activation I think Ted, do you have any idea about what would be the right way to solve the issue? [Bug 1234588] [NEW] Can't go back to the settings' list after opening a specific subpanel
Public bug reported: On the current touch image (75) - open the sound indicator, click on "sound settings..." - swipe from the left to go back to the dash - search for "settings" - click on the system-settings icon -> the running instance is restored, on the sound settings ... since it was open on a specific panel there is no "back" button to go back to the list of settings. [Bug 1227656] Re: System Settings can start several gallery apps
With 20131003, I cannot reproduce this defect but another - buggy - behaviour.
