[Bug 1187427] Re: Mouse cursor invisible
Hi Jens, sorry for the late reply. The native resolution seems to be 1600x768@30 Hz which you probably don't get from the VESA driver. Can you try setting a different resolution in your xorg.conf? This shouldn't be related to the cursor problems you're having. Hardware cursor is the default so no special options are needed for that. [Bug 1209032] Re: [LENOVO 4298CTO] suspend/resume failure
I updated the BIOS to 1.39 and the bug is still present. I didn't describe it very well initially, but I can now reproduce it reliably. If I put the computer to sleep in its docking station, remove it from the dock, and then wake it up, the indicator lights come on but I get a black screen that I can't get out of without doing a hard reset. I'm not sure whether it's related, but I get about 10 or so crash notifications every time I boot up and log in. The only things connected to the dock are an AC adapter, CD/DVD writer, and ethernet cable. The bug does not occur if I put it to sleep with AC adapter plugged in to the computer itself, unplug it, and wake it up (i.e. without the dock). sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date [sudo] password for richard: 8DET69WW (1.39 ) 07/18/2013 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1209032 Title: [LENOVO 4298CTO] suspend/resume failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1209032/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

After doing this, friends-app started working again w/o crashing. It started out with only a few Twitter tweets, but fairly quickly started showing a full feed, including Facebook posts. I deleted both the cache and the resources file. After restoring both of these from backup, I was able to cause friends-app to segfault once again. Removing just the cache, and not the resource file, restored functionality (although with a bunch of entries that were 54-odd days old). I didn't take the time to verify that the functionality was complete in that case; I simply killed off friends-* again, removed the cache and resources, and restarted. I still have the cache handy, and can tell you things about it if you think it would help to diagnose the segfault. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176498 Title: friends app crashes on start. [Bug 1197896] Re: [MIR] ruby-safe-yaml, ruby-hashie, ruby-indentation
I reviewed ruby-safe-yaml version 0.9.3-1 from saucy. This should not be considered a full security audit, but rather a quick gauge of code cleanliness. - ruby-safe-yaml provides callbacks used by the syck and psych YAML-parsing engines to convert a tokenized yaml stream into Ruby objects without blindly executing code in the objects, as previous YAML parsers have done. - build-depends on gem2deb, rake, ruby-rspec, ruby-hashie, ruby-indentation - Does not do encryption - Does not itself do networking - Does not daemonize - No init scripts, no dbus services, no setuid, no binaries, no sudo, no cron jobs - Nice test suite run during build - No processes spawned - No file writing; file reading is simple and duck-typed - No environment variables used - No privileged operations - No cryptography - No networking itself - No temp files - No WebKit or JS Some code is a little obfuscated in the effort to provide identical API interface to callers in Ruby 1.8 and Ruby 1.9 environments, when the underlying YAML parser frameworks are different. Most of the code is straight-forward and careful parsing code. The test suite is comprehensive and includes positive and negative tests. Security team ACK for including in main. [Bug 1209423] [NEW] [STAGING] 2.6.32-47 kernel update on 10.04 breaks software RAID at boot
Public bug reported: After update from 2.6.32-46 to 2.6.32-47 one of the md arrays does not start anymore at boot time. The RAID 1 md0 now causes message "Continue to wait; or Press S to skip mounting or M for manual recovery" at boot. I used "S" to create this report as requested in a similar bug report (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1190295) by user "penalvch" Booting back into 2.6.32-46 the md devices are correctly set up and the system boots normally. See the linked bug for further details, such as: The array that does not start anymore has the following config: level=raid1 metadata=1.2 num-devices=2 While a second array with metadata=1.0 seems to be recognized and started correctly. [Bug 1144322] Re: Kernel Panic in 3.8.0, 3.8.1 & 3.8.2 when diconnecting from network manager, using ppp0 to connect to net
Gurvender.Bahia, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. [Bug 1209423] Re: [STAGING] 2.6.32-47 kernel update on 10.04 breaks software RAID at boot
Answering questions from the above linked bug: > It's possible that the patches which were linked are not related. They're not in the delta between the two versions which are isted. I see, I did not realize the kernel versions (using a dot for the last digits) are different from the ubuntu ones (using a -). > 1. You mention that this occurs on various upgrades, could you confirm that these would be various different kernel versions over time, and not ONLY on the 46 to 47 update? Indeed I tested it with each new update from 47 to 50 (current one) and the issue is there on all of them while booting into 46 works fine > 2. Have you seen this when doing any other reboots (not after system updates)? > (such as might occur if this was a boot race - which could only shows up > because the first boot after an update performs additional operations) No, booting with 46 always bring the md0 array up while others 47-50 always fail to do so. > 3. When this occurs you mention that you see the 'M' for manual recovery, do > you also see the MD "degraded raid" prompt and if so how do you respond? I did not try manual recovery (did not want to broke the array by manipulating it with potentially "unsafe" environment) > 4. On taking the 'M' that option LVM slices are missing which are served from the RAID, can you provide the following information for missing LVs (backed by md0): I do not have LVM on my RAID device as the original reporter of the other bug. One of the following applies however: E) what is the actual state of md0 as show in 'cat /proc/mdstat'? md0 is not listed at all in /proc/mdstat Furthermore I attach (mdadm-examine-broken.txt) the output of mdadm --examine on one of the RAID elements (/dev/sda6) which looks quite weird to me with a long series of failed where there should be only two elements in the array. ** Attachment added: "Output of mdadm --examine on a component of md0" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1209423/+attachment/3764186/+files/mdadm-examine-broken.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1209423 Title: [STAGING] 2.6.32-47 kernel update on 10.04 breaks software RAID at boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1209423/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1207749] Re: kubuntu 13.04 installation aborted: grub-efi failed to install in /target/
I got the same problem here. I have a laptop which pre-installed Win8. I disabled Secure Boot and partitioned the disk myself. Installing Kubuntu 12.10 from live USB was okay (though I still need to run boot-repair after installing, but at least there was no problem during the installation). However when installing Kubuntu 13.04 I got the same problem. It showed a dialog saying "grub-efi package failed to install in /target/", then ubiquity told me it crashed. After crashing if I ran boot-repair, it would be possible to boot, but all the splash screen or plymouth screen would disappear. [Bug 814894] Re: Kernel hangs on high network throughput
Kasper Dupont, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Lucid reached EOL on May 9, 2013. Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If so, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested.
