[Bug 1198180] Re: possible leak in upstart 1.5
To clarify: we have about 200-300 containers running simultaneously, and the average lifetime of a single container is 2-10 mins; the network interfaces are also destroyed when the container goes down. So, in a specific point in time, we have about 200-300 network interfaces, and they're created and destroyed dynamicly (with lxc-start and lxc-stop). strace'ing only mmap and unmap for init (-p 1) you can see, that memory is mapped for EVERY event, but only parts of it are unmapped: [pid 3058] 08:43:07.444810 mmap(NULL, 677, PROT_READ, MAP_SHARED, 11, 0) = 0x7ffe40a7e000 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.444942 munmap(0x7ffe40a7e000, 677) = 0 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.446329 mmap(NULL, 8192, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x7f88f1b38000 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.446604 mmap(NULL, 26711, PROT_READ, MAP_PRIVATE, 3, 0) = 0x7f88f1b31000 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.446806 mmap(NULL, 3925208, PROT_READ|PROT_EXEC, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_DENYWRITE, 3, 0) = 0x7f88f1559000 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.446856 mmap(0x7f88f190d000, 24576, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_FIXED|MAP_DENYWRITE, 3, 0x1b4000) = 0x7f88f190d000 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.446965 mmap(0x7f88f1913000, 17624, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_FIXED|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x7f88f1913000 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.447137 mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x7f88f1b3 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.447200 mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x7f88f1b2f000 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.447250 mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x7f88f1b2e000 [pid 3058] 08:43:07.447490 munmap(0x7f88f1b31000, 26711) = 0 We do not have any custom upstart jobs, so only /etc/init/network- interface*.conf are run. Also, after some time, init uses almost one core (77% above), and it gets sluggish -i takes more time to serve new events. As you can see from the discussion here: https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/grub-devel/2012-03/msg00050.html this is currently by design. A submenu opens a new 'context' in grub terms, and when you exit the context (go back to the main menu), everything within the submenu context is lost. I personally do not like this, too. [Bug 1173024] Re: Blank "Additional Drivers" running a Nvidia 680GTX raring 13.04
I had the same problem the other day. After few hours and few re-install I added xorg.conf file to /etc/X11 (I think it was there) and changed two lines too: Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA" and rebooted. [Bug 1199249] [NEW] Renaming of the "cpulimit" package to "limitcpu", since that is its software
Public bug reported: There are: - The cpulimit software ("cpulimit.sourceforge.net" or "https://github.com/opsengine/cpulimit";). - The limitcpu software (http://limitcpu.sourceforge.net/) . But when people install the cpulimit package... they end up realizing that they have installed the limitcpu software. Similar, but with differences that eventually cause confusions. This bug report is for naming this package "limitcpu" instead of "cpulimit". Just to be loyal to truth, to the author of limitcpu (who calls its software "limitcpu" not "cpulimit"), to avoid what are trademark violations, and to avoid confusions (*). (*) Like people installing the cpulimit package and seeing that some things don't work as they expected... because they installed the limitcpu software instead. I understand that not everyone has enough time to do what he thinks it's correct... but, who knows, after reporting a situation, maybe someone with enough time and resources will mend it in the future. At least, the door is open. ** Affects: cpulimit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1199249 Title: Renaming of the "cpulimit" package to "limitcpu", since that is its software To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cpulimit/+bug/1199249/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1197484] Re: Connection requests to saucy server VMs from a precise host fail after fresh VM installs
Thank you for the comments. The failure occurred with 3.10.0-2.10-generic as well for me. Please see the log that's attached in comment #11, and that occurred on my local raring machine. I can reproduce this issue on my local machine once every 4-5 attempts. As given in the description, the issue occurs more often when there are more VMs running. Therefore the frequency is very high in our server which is a precise 12.04.01 machine using 3.2.0-40-generic. I am not sure if we have any special dnsmasq configuration in the lab. I'll check and confirm it with our systems engineers. But on my local machine (raring amd64 desktop) there is no specific configurations. Since the issue is more often when there are more VMs installations in one host, it would be easier to reproduce by running 'sudo -u utah -i run_utah_tests.py -i /path/to/saucy-server-amd64.iso -p lp:ubuntu-test- cases/server/preseeds/mail-server.preseed lp:ubuntu-test- cases/server/runlists/mail-server.run -x /etc/utah/bridged-network- vm.xml' in parallel at the same time from a couple of terminal windows. libvirt-bin that we are using is 0.9.8-2ubuntu17.8 The issue is not occurring during the install but on the first reboot after the installation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1197484 Title: Connection requests to saucy server VMs from a precise host fail after fresh VM installs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp/+bug/1197484/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1172907] Re: CJK characters displaying as blocks
Simple Workaround: 1. Go Tools => Options => Interfaces (tab) 2. click "Select List Fonts" (button), 3. At the "Script" drop-down-menu , choose your preferred encoding : Big5/GB etc.. 4. In the Font List : set any supported CJK fonts. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot of Keepass2 Options" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keepass2/+bug/1172907/+attachment/3730177/+files/DeepinScrot-0236.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1172907 Title: CJK characters displaying as blocks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keepass2/+bug/1172907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
