It does not open a new browser window to submit bug reports;
As soong as I submit, it disappears with no follow-up.

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch

2013-06-24 Thread Graham Inggs
@eraserix: gnome-keyring is marked Multi-Arch: foreign so that, for
example, an amd64 gnome-keyring can satisfy an i386 package's dependency
on it.

The version numbers in Breaks and Replaces look wrong to me too.

As jhansonxi wrote in comment 48, libp11-kit-gnome-keyring:i386 won't be
installable until gcr is multi-arch.

[Bug 1194022] [NEW] Please bump golang version to 1.1.1

2013-06-24 Thread Dave Cheney
Public bug reported:

Go 1.1.1 was released a week ago. Like all .1 releases, it's the one you
want. We need this for Juju, specifically juju on arm.

https://groups.google.com/d/msg/golang-nuts/iJFhI8K5a2Y/ICf4fVqg3yEJ

It isn't available in upstream yet, and I haven't had any luck enticing
the upstream maintainers to bump the package version in Sid.

[Bug 1194009] Re: [regression] CCSM > Composite > Refresh Rate is blank and cannot be set

2013-06-24 Thread MC Return
Reminds me of:

bug #1027868 - Changing "Composite > Detect Refresh Rate" is ignored initially
bug #1192028 - Compiz refresh rate resets to 50 Hz automatically

and also:

bug #1009338 - composite refresh rate falls back to 50Hz, which is wrong
in most cases

but this says "Fix Released".

so... I do not think that this is actually a regression on Saucy and I do not
remember anyone doctoring on the refresh rate code recently.
What I remember from reading the code there is some ugly workaround/hack for
Nvidia in the code, but I see you are using Intel gfx.

Does this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1027868/comments/9
work ?

Hmm, and if I disable Mir/unity-system-compositor via lightdm.conf,
compiz now spins at 200Hz all the time. Even when the screen's not

But hopefully the bug is limited to the Mir PPAs. Haven't verified yet.

[Bug 1194030] [NEW] Thunderbird Mail

2013-06-24 Thread dhiraj kumar sharma
Public bug reported:

I have configure Thunderbird to my organizational mail server and found
some of the features that are not there in Thunderbird,

1. I am unable to import my sent mails in Thunderbird.

2. Autocomplete for mail id for sending a mail is also not available, it
helps in getting a mail id if we do not remember the exact mail ids.
Such type of facilities are available in other mail clients like Zimbra.

3. Thunderbird should have a feature so that we can get the same type of
mail filtration as we have already done on our mailing accounts, say on
Gmail, it will be better if we have such a features here.

2013-06-24 Thread runner
This bug should be critical
I am having random crashes. Looking in the syslogs attached below.
I had 2 black screen crashes and 1 frozen screen crash.

Which of the many error messages are leading to the crash.
The (a) occurred 6 times.
The (b) notification occurred 1000s times.
I am not sure if (a) and (b) are related bc they both talking about power.

What I am certain is that lately ubuntu 12.04 crashes 2-4 times per day and I
do not see
that this is being worked on. I see other ppl seeing this bug.
I would like to call this bug critical.

Well, normal users aren't supposed to keep the -proposed repository enabled,
actually. It's only meant for testing to ensure that no regressions occur before
being copied into the -updates pocket (enabled by default).

Uploads which fail the test get removed eventually, or are superseded with an
upload that fixes the issue without regressions.

  * New upstream release (closes: #697215).

  * Drop all previous patches, applied upstream.
  * debian/patches/no-pytest-runner.patch: do not require pytest-runner,
it is not in Debian.
  * debian/patches/fix-importkiller.patch: fix ImportKiller not working
with Python 3.x (fixes the testsuite).

if SecretService is supported (can be dropped when the next SecretStorage
version is released, where this is fixed).

available, as we use it directly in tests.
  * Build-depend on python[3]-mock and python[3]-crypto, for the testsuite.

[Bug 927515] Re: Thunderbird stuck at 100% CPU

2013-06-24 Thread Per Baekgaard
For someone looking for a workaround, then the 100% CPU usage could
apparently also be a result of TB reopening/reindexing databases too
often. According to these links:

   https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=794401
   http://rainbow.chard.org/2013/02/19/thunderbird-high-cpu/

it appears that "Technically ... [Thunderbird] check open DBs every
minute, and if they have been open more than 3 seconds and there are no
other references to them, they are closed. The '3 seconds' has now been
changed to the original intent of 5 minutes."

On my system, mail.db_idle.limit was set to 30, which might have
been the intended value... But I've increased it to 3000 as others
have suggested, which seems to help -- I have many really really large
IMAP folders, so indexing is a slow process that can last minutes.

Whether it has negative impacts elsewhere remains to be seen. But it is
an easy tweak and fast to test

The program 'goldendict' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)'.
  (Details: serial 469 error_code 10 request_code 33 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Everything was fine up until now. I run xubuntu 13.04. The goldendict version
is goldendict 1.0.2~git20120929-3

[Bug 1078038] Re: excessive swapping on resume renders laptop useless 20% of the time

2013-06-24 Thread Anton
I've switched to a new laptop with 8G in stead of 4G memory, and did not
run into the problem yet (it was a real usability problem for me). If I
can find the time, I'll try and (over)load my memory, go through a
suspend cycle and see if I can (or cannot) reproduce.

If I'd need to pick an older kernel to check if I can reproduce at all
on my new laptop, which one would you recommend?

(P.S., my previous reply via e-mail does not show up here, is that
expected behaviour?)

Compiling a trivial int a() {return 17;} file with
g++ -v -Wl,--as-needed t.c --shared -o libt${n}.so

With binutils 2.23.52.20130612-1:
$ readelf -d /tmp/libt3.so | grep NEEDED
$ objdump -T libt3.so | grep _cxa_fin
  w   D  *UND*   __cxa_finalize

While with binutils 2.22-8 and 2.23.2:
$ readelf -d libt2.so  | grep NEEDED
 0x0001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [libc.so.6]
$ objdump -T libt2.so | grep _cxa_fin
  w   DF *UND*    GLIBC_2.2.5 __cxa_finalize

i.e. the dependency on libc.so.6 is missing and what is worse:
the libc6 symbol is not properly versioned, which might mean that that
library might cause programs segfault with future libc versions.

g++ says it does:
COLLECT_GCC_OPTIONS='-v' '-shared' '-o' 'libt3.so' '-shared-libgcc'
'-mtune=generic' '-march=x86-64'
 /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.7/collect2 --sysroot=/ --build-id
--eh-frame-hdr -m elf_x86_64 --hash-style=gnu -shared -o libt3.so
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.7/../../../x86_64-linux-gnu/crti.o

-L/usr/lib/../lib -L/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.7/../../..
--as-needed /tmp/cc8CjUQJ.o -lstdc++ -lm -lgcc_s -lc -lgcc_s
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.7/crtendS.o
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.7/../../../x86_64-linux-gnu/crtn.o

with the need for symbol __cxa_finalize coming from crtbeginS.o:

$ objdump -t /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.7/crtbeginS.o | grep _cxa_fi
  w  *UND*   __cxa_finalize

gcc unlike g++ is not affected because it puts a --no-as-needed before
-lc

Zack Weinberg commented in the Debian report:

A standard use case, for instance, is to take weak references to
pthread_mutex_(un)lock and then call them only if the function
addresses are non-NULL at runtime -- if that by itself dragged in
libpthread it would vitiate the optimization.

If you do the exact same test with a shared object that explicitly
calls something in libc (say, 'puts') that's a strong reference and
you will get a NEEDED entry.

As for the lack of version tagging on the weak reference, I can't say
whether this is a problem in general, but in the case of
__cxa_finalize, I'm pretty sure it isn't: a GLIBC_2.2.5 version
indicates a function that has not changed since the introduction of
symbol versioning in libc.so.6, and the spec governing
__cxa_finalize's behavior hasn't changed since 2003ish.

Putting this in precise-updates is blocked on all of these bug fixes
being verified:

If this bug is fixed by the version in precise-proposed, it should be
tagged verification-done, per
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification.  However, the
other five bugs must still be verified before we can release the update.

[Bug 1155968] Re: Upgrade zeitgeist to 0.9.14

2013-06-24 Thread मनीष सिन्हा
I have been using zeitgeist engine (zeitgeist-core) built against
libzeitgeist1 with applications built against libzeitgeist1.

It is working because all the communication happens over dbus. Any
changes which took place was at library level. DBus API remained nearly
the same, but the programmer facing abstraction of API was vastly
improved.

Theoretically, the apps built against libzeitgeist1 do not need to be
rebuilt to work against zeitgeist-core built using libzeitgeist2

I would be sooner working on moving everything to libzeitgeist2

libfolks-telepathy25 has been patched upstream to use libzeitgeist2
IIRC. It should make it into saucy if released on time

[Bug 1194070] [NEW] [MIR] unicode-data

2013-06-24 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

The current gucharmap package
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gucharmap/1:3.8.2-2) dep-waits on
unicode-data, which is a new build dependency. It is used at build time
only, not a binary dependency.

unicode-data is a low-maintenance text-only data package, adequate
maintenance in Debian (http://packages.qa.debian.org/u/unicode-
data.html), no important Debian bugs (http://bugs.debian.org/unicode-
data), no Ubuntu bugs.

[Bug 1194074] [NEW] Default index.html blindly overwritten

Public bug reported:

Just updated a server and the default /usr/share/nginx/www/index.html
file was blindly overwritten with the 'Welcome to Nginx' one, as we're
just using it for a simple website, the default configuration was used

[Bug 910566] Re: munin does not depend on libcache-cache-perl

2013-06-24 Thread Stevel
The mysql_ plugin from the munin-node package fails.

Steps to reproduce:
- Install munin-node. Make sure that libcache-cache-perl is not installed yet.
- Run /usr/share/munin/plugins/myqsl_ suggest

Expected result: a list of possible symlink names to make (in
/etc/munin/plugins).

Actual result: Missing dependency Cache::Cache at
/usr/share/munin/plugins/mysql_ line 716.

Workaround: install libcache-cache-perl.
The same plugin also lists libdbd-mysql-perl as a dependency.

Both packages are in the suggests-list of the package now.

[Bug 1194082] [NEW] GDAL dep-libs not availabe

2013-06-24 Thread Mike
Public bug reported:

While using libgdal-dev (1.9.0-3.1ubuntu1) in raring, the "gdal-config
--dep-libs" command lists libraries that are not installed as
dependencies of libgdal-dev, as I would have expected.

For example, while attempting to build PostGIS 2.1beta3, this line of
"make" fails:

libtool: link: gcc -g -O2 -fPIC -DPIC -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes -I../rt_core
-I../../liblwgeom -I/usr/include/gdal -I/usr/local/include raster2pgsql.o -o
.libs/raster2pgsql  ../rt_core/librtcore.a ../../liblwgeom/.libs/liblwgeom.so
-L/usr/lib -lgdal -larmadillo /usr/lib/libproj.so -lpoppler -lepsilon -lodbc
-lodbcinst -lexpat -lxerces-c -ljasper -lnetcdf -lhdf5 /usr/lib/libmfhdfalt.so
/usr/lib/libdfalt.so -logdi /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgif.so -ljpeg -lpng -lpq

/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libsqlite3.so -L/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libcurl-gnutls.so -lmysqlclient -lpthread -lz -lrt -ldl
-L/usr/local/lib /usr/local/lib/libgeos_c.so -lc -lm
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -larmadillo
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lpoppler
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lepsilon
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lexpat
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -logdi
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -llzma
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

Dependent packages, such as libarmadillo-dev, are not installed on the
system.

Here is some extra info from my system/setup:
$ gdal-config --version
1.9.0
$ gdal-config --dep-libs

[Bug 1190903] Re: Unable to control brightness with fglrx driver

2013-06-24 Thread Alex Hung
>From BIOS perspectives, there is no difference with with either fglrx or
radeon. As brightness works with radeon driver, this seems to be a
driver issue.

I also verified the Oneiric that was used in OEM image with two
different versions of fglrx: (1) the one in OME image, (2) one from
jockey - brightness works with (1) but not (2). It is suspected that AMD
did not merge the fix in (1) was not merged back to fglrx.

[Bug 1027805] Re: logins are not recorded in wtmp

2013-06-24 Thread Paul Crawford
I agree with Jean-Daniel, this is something that must be adressed. While
you now see any graphical log-in using 'who' and it lists users both at
"tty7" etc, for graphical log-in, and as "pts/2" etc for terminal log-
in, only the termianl sessions are seen with the "last" command.

That worked correctly with Ubuntu 10.04 (showed graphical log-in), now
it is broken with 12.04 and lightdm. For anyone who is trying to
diagnose security breaches or just general system screw-ups, it is a
serious omission given that most users log-in via the graphical screen.
