[Bug 1064155] Re: [SRU Regression] Launcher and Global Menu are completely black after exiting fullscreen from certain apps
Hi Aaron, Yes indeed, that is the behavior in the 13.04. I have a fix already on the way for the fullscreen app continuing to be shown (bug #1053895) and I'm getting close to a fix for this particular bug. [Bug 33883] Re: hidden files not included in directory 'properties'
Bump! It's 2013! Same on 13.04. I don't know it this is related but if you set show 'hidden files' and then select the all the dot files in home followed by show properties Nautilus gets stuck in a loop counting files. It counts ~7300 files then restarts at 0, after about 30 minutes it stops at ~14000 files but the 'working' (the spinning circle thing is still spinning) is still going. This only happens if I select all dot files and folders. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/33883 Title: hidden files not included in directory 'properties' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/33883/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1175479] [NEW] Using PAC file does not set http_proxy env variable
Public bug reported: I have a moderately complicated (66 line) PAC file, configured in the Network Settings applet using the automatic method with a HTTP URL. [Bug 1175478] [NEW] Disabling proprietary driver fails with no message
Public bug reported: I freshly installed Ubuntu 13.04 a week ago, used for a couple days with no problems and then found out I can enable proprietary driver for my wireless adapter. I enabled it but it didn't function properly (it didn't connect to some routers). When I found out about this problem, I tried to disable it (and switch back to default driver) when being disconnected. I selected not to use any proprietary driver for my wireless adapter in the Software & Updates > Additional Drivers and clicked Apply Changes. Application disabled for a couple seconds showing something is going on and suddenly settings went back to "Using Broadcom..." and the story repeated every time. No error messages, no nothing. Tried rebooting computer - nothing changed. After a couple attempts I connected my laptop to the Internet using Ethernet cable and did the same. This time progress lasted longer and driver was disable. BUT even then I had to reboot my computer in order to make the change work even though I didn't see any message about that. I believe it's sort of a bug that there are no error nor informational messages shown during the process. I see no way how a user may know that software needs Internet to function properly or that, even though it shows driver is disabled, it still needs to be rebooted. [Bug 533003] Re: Keyboard selection - Guernsey should be UK not USA
Hello Colin, I have just installed the recently released 13.04 and at the graphical region selection stage during initial setup Guernsey appears somewhere in Africa! Then the very next choice - USA keyboard - again! Then once in the Unity desktop proper under the Time and Date settings I can type Guernsey and get everywhere from Arkansas to Wyoming, USA but not within Channel Islands. The neighbouring island of Jersey is also absent. I ovewrote the keyboard selection to UK during the setup stage but Regional Settings within Unity still has "Display numbers, dates..." as "English (United States)". Essentially everything for Guernsey (Alderney, Herm, Sark - collectively Bailiwick of Guernsey) and Jersey should be treated per UK / Great Britain in terms of defaults derrived from selecting those locations, including GMT and regional variences. ** Description changed: This problem happened just after the upgrade to Ubuntu 13.04. - When trying to open a file in a directory under control of Mercurial, i.e. a directory which has .hg directory, emacs stops in its staring process. + When trying to open a file in a directory under control of Mercurial, i.e. a directory which has .hg directory, emacs stops in its staring process. When this symptom occurs, in the minibuffer, it says: Loading vc-hg...done And the following is dumped to stderr: (emacs:5305): GLib-WARNING **: GChildWatchSource: Exit status of a child process was requested but ECHILD was received by waitpid(). Most likely the process is ignoring SIGCHLD, or some other thread is invoking waitpid() with a nonpositive first argument; either behavior can break applications that use g_child_watch_add()/g_spawn_sync() either directly or indirectly. Even when opening an unregistered file in a Mercurial-controlled directory, the same symptom happens. It works when started alone (to open *scratch* buffer) and it's also OK to open a file not under control of Mercurial. + + Additional information after the first post: + - It gets fixed after uninstalling mercurial, and reproduces again after re-installing mercurial. + - It occurs even when there's no ~/.emacs or ~/.emacs.d/init.el + - It didn't reproduced on another PC. so it depends on the environments. [Bug 1175496] [NEW] network-manager forgets the most recently connected networks
Public bug reported: Since I updated to raring ringtail, network-manager forgets which networks to connect to. I have defined several connections in network manager. For example for my wired connection I have one connection named 'home' which uses a static ip, and once named 'work' which uses another static ip, and one named 'dhcp' which uses dhcp. Pre-raring this worked fine, since NM remembered which connection was used last and picked that again, so that If I stay at home and turn on my laptop it will pick the 'home' network each time after I have selected it once. In raring this is different, NM always picks the first connection from the list instead of the conection used last time. This means I have to manually change the network *each time* I connect to a network, instead of only hen I change locations. Tis is not wired network specific: at work we use several different wifi AP's with different names, one for an internal network and one for internet access. I want to connect to the 'internet' AP most of the time, but since the internal is first in the list NM now picks that one each time. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: forgets network-manager -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175496 Title: network-manager forgets the most recently connected networks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1175496/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1174429] Re: error: unknown type name ”u_int8_t” when building
Hmm, looking deeper at this issue, it seems that we're patching asoundlib.h, but asoundlib.h is dynamically generated during build (from asoundlib-head.h and other files), so our patched file is overwritten, which is why asoundlib.h ends up not having the patch. [Bug 1168866] Re: upgrade could not install linux image
I encountered this problem after upgrade from 12.04to 12.10. It has prevented Software Updates and Software Centre from working. Synpactic gives an error. The problem appears to be related to two things: /root partition being full; and/or CPU being non-PAE. The /root partition problem has been occurring periodically since installing 12.04 six months ago. This problem has not arisen before, in five years of using Ubuntu on this machine. What was different with this install was i) encrypted LVM and ii) separate partitions for /home /root /tmp /usr /var, using defaults offered during installation. Xubuntu has since periodically reported errors derived from the /root partition being full. This last occurred the day before the upgrade. I solved the problem by removing all unused linux kernel images - all but the last single most recent linux kernel - keeping also the generic image. This problem has been irritating. On the one hand, the default partitioning should have created a /root partition of a size that doesn't fill up so quickly. On the other hand, the O/S should do its own house-keeping and not leave me to scrap the abandoned linux images that periodically spill over. Now error on upgrading from 12.04 to 12.10: -- could not install '/var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-3.5.0-27-generic_3.5.0-27.46_i386.deb' The upgrade will continue but the '/var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-3.5.0-27-generic_3.5.0-27.46_i386.deb' package may not be in a working state. [Bug 1175505] [NEW] NetworkManager doesn't ignore certificates when asked
Public bug reported: My enterprise network uses WPA2 with PEAP and a self-signed certificate. Since 13.04, when we ask NetworkManager to accept our certificate even if self-signed and never ask again, this choice is not repercuted in the config file generated for the network, or collide with another setting (see below). I had to modify by hand ``/etc/NetworkManager/system- connections/our_wifi´´ and remove the directive `system-ca-certs=1` (or change it to 0) to make it pass the ssl-handshake. Documentation[1] says that this setting is FALSE by default, so I suspect it's an Ubuntu behavior to opt-in it. Issue seen with all our freshly installed 13.04 laptop with fully- supported wifi chips, all of differents brands. Not seen on Arch. If the bug belongs to Debian BTS, or NetworkManager team, please say it, and I will report them back. [Bug 814448] Re: Debian Installer has wrong defaults when country = IM GG or JE
It seems to me that there needs to be some work done to ensure that changes to the official ISO list become 'sticky' and don't get undone by some careless person using an out-of-date ISO-3166 country list reference. GG JE and IM were added to the ISO list in 2006. AX not long after. SX, CW and others (Dutch Caribbean) recently. This problem is pervasive and causes real-life problems .. While Ubuntu itself is free -- this sort of error in other circumstances -- such as using Ubuntu as an e-commerce website platform and being forced to choose a "wrong" country code can (and often does!) cause a 20% increase in the price of something (being charged VAT when it is not applicable). I guess time does heal all wounds? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/875343 Title: Stuck at "Saving installed packages..." when using a custom /var To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/875343/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1158267] Re: broken (click-trhough) window decoration on some maximized windows
I have this bug too. I use Xubuntu 13.04 and see all these troubles with title bar as people describe here. I have to use Compiz because I want to watch video without tearing, and when I use Compiz, video is pretty smooth (not like when I use xfwm4). Also I have laptop with Xubuntu 12.04 and there's no such a problem with title bar at all. Maybe it's time for me to downgrade... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1158267 Title: broken (click-trhough) window decoration on some maximized windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1158267/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate
Same problem here. And 13.04 really is the first Ubuntu where this doesn't work. And sure it IS critical! If this is not fixed, Ubuntu will prove useless for most education (students/profs) and business users. And the bug is still unassigned since January?! Come on! I just can't believe that the swirl direction of the BFB icon was a more important bug than this one... In terms that it was promptly addressed, unlike this one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1104476 Title: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1104476/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
