[Bug 773154] Re: 168c:002b Atheros AR9285 extremely slow & unstable

2012-07-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Luca Manzari, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available? It
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do not test the
kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on
which kernel version specifically you tested.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not
boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment
as to why specifically you were unable to test it.

Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance.

Hi there !

I'm sorry I didn't get noticed for your responses (I just subscribed
this report today), but I plan to fix it for next patch. I'll use
debconfig to ask user if he want to keep downloaded data. If no, the
script will delete all ~/.ryzom/data from all users.

Thanks !

[Bug 992232] Re: no libreoffice-report-builder in precise

come on guys...
will we have the same problem in 3.6 release?

"

Why? until one month ago (in beta2) the report builder was there...
should we do something? (perhaps fill another bug?)

In ubuntu 12.04 took a lot time to get the report builder back and
thanks to Bjorn now we've upgrated our company computers to precise...

2012-07-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Frank Lanitz, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .

** Description changed:

Touchscreen is continually producing bad mouse movement events, about once a
second.
The cursor gets moved over near the top left of the screen.

- A workaround is to disable the touchscreen with xinput set-prop XX 'Device
Enabled'
- where XX is the device number from xinput output.

[Bug 775543] Re: xhci_hcd: Timeout while waiting for a slot - Issue with USB3 hard disk on 11.04 x86_64

2012-07-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Toshe Bukov, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to

kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-

[Bug 1027061] Re: Postfix upgrade to 2.9.3-2~12.04.1 changes configuration files

2012-07-29 Thread Mephisto
If this is any help, here is the installation log
(/var/log/apt/history.log) from the package upgrade that changed the
config file:

Start-Date: 2012-07-20 06:39:28
Commandline: apt-get -qq -y upgrade
Upgrade: postfix:amd64 (2.9.1-5, 2.9.3-2~12.04.1)
End-Date: 2012-07-20 06:39:31

This is not an issue with puppet, as puppet was not involved in the
package upgrade at all. The upgrade was done by a nightly cron job that
uses only apt-get.

[Bug 777091] Re: Xorg takes up to 30% of CPU with new kernel

2012-07-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Tommy_CZ, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

[Bug 1030466] [NEW] [MacBook1, 1, SigmaTel STAC9221 A1, White Headphone Out, Left] No sound at all

2012-07-29 Thread Simon Mewes
Public bug reported:

I just installed Ubuntu 12.4 and laptop speakers worked out of the box
at first.

Headphones do not work at all, and now that I tried to put them in,
laptop speaker sound also ceased to function. Test sounds in sound
settings are not audible. I do get the ubuntu startup sound on the login
screen after I restart the computer, so it's not a physical problem.

I tried to use alsamixer to unmute all channels without any effect at
all.

Thanks for your attention.

2012-07-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Matthias Andree, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please provide the information following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend ? As well, could you
please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO
CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

** Summary changed:

- Bluetooth 03f0:2a1d disappears after suspend
+ 03f0:2a1d Bluetooth disappears after suspend

** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing resume suspend

** Description changed:

This device works fine until the laptop is suspended; afterwards, it
disappears from lsusb until reboot. Resume for everything else
(including wifi) is OK. The problem did NOT happen with Maverick. The
laptop also suffers from the "turning off Bluetooth turns off Wifi" bug
(658675) and also did with Maverick.

Apport was run before the laptop was suspended, so the device is
  present. After suspend:

  $ rfkill list bluetooth

2012-07-29 Thread Vavooon
Christopher M. Penalver, sorry, but problem still is`nt resolved. There is
auto-loading atl1c driver by default, which hangs up entire system. Many people
tried Ubuntu on his netbooks (Acer AO522, 722 and some others) and had this
problem. And many people will have. So please dont close really unresolved bugs
only for statistics.
Did anybody with affected hardware (because i sold my one) tried to use this

[Bug 859137] Re: Motherboard AMD 990FX/SB950 usb don't work

2012-07-29 Thread Petros Tsantoulis
I can confirm the bug with the ASUS Formula V and Ubuntu 12.04, amd64
kernel 3.2.0-27. Upgrading the BIOS to 1503 solved the issue for me.
Asus indicates that the BIOS "improves USB compatibility".

Note that upgrading the BIOS will require you to re-install grub-efi
because NVRAM is erased.

[Bug 776499] Re: gvim gets no global menu, timeout warning on the console

2012-07-29 Thread Eduard Hasenleithner
Until this is solved, I'll put a "set guioptions+=f" into my vimrc. Gvim
will then occupy the console, but I can regain the console easily with
"CTRL-Z" and "bg". This is also the same behavior every other X11
application has when started from the console.

[Bug 888614] Re: Digikam does not show .mkv nor .thm files

2012-07-29 Thread tdn
Any progress on this? I have noticed the current version of digikam
included in Ubuntu 12.04 has an option to add video file extensions, but
adding .mkv here does not appear to have any effect.

I think it is a bit dangerous to have digikam show a folder as empty
when it actually contains video files. This can lead the user to delete
an appearently empty folder/album. Hereby causing data loss.

[Bug 1030474] [NEW] Executing an invalid command during an ed session causes it to exit with a non 0 error status.

2012-07-29 Thread Aaron Howell
Public bug reported:

If an invalid command is executed while ed is being used interactively,
the process will exit with a non 0 exit status, even if the editing
session is successful.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a text file using ed.
2. Immediately write the text file back to disk with the w command.
3. Now press enter until you attempt to display a line beyond the end of the
text file (ed will display a ? to show you've entered an invalid command).
4. Now press q to exit ed.

Note that even though you successfully saved the file and quit without making
any further changes, ed still indicates an error occurred by exiting with
status 1.
This information is not relevant to the calling program when ed is being used
as an interactive editor.

This problem will also occur if you do something as simple as entering a
letter that has no valid function, or by searching for a string that
isn't found, or anything else that will cause ed to respond with ?.

The problem becomes an issue when you are using ed to edit things like
email messages, or crontabs, where the calling process expects to get a
0 return from the editor.

Ed should only respond with a non 0 exit code when there was an actual
problem reading or writing the file.

This problem is not Ubuntu specific it occurs on other flavours of Linux
using the GNU version of ed.

[Bug 1030466] Re: [MacBook1, 1, SigmaTel STAC9221 A1, White Headphone Out, Left] No sound at all

2012-07-29 Thread Simon Mewes
I have solved the problem. In the "Sound Settings" Window, I had
erroneously selected "Digital Output (S/PDIF)" instead of
"Speaker"/"Headphones".

Again, thank you for your attention. Sorry for the trouble.

[Bug 1024368] Re: Doesn't provide browser plugin

2012-07-29 Thread Shahar Or
Melchiaros,

If you thought that I meant that I reported it to Oracle then I
apologize for the misunderstanding. I didn't report it upstream to
oracle. I only provided the steps to reproduce.

I am still not sure that this is an issue in the Oracle release. In
order to test that, the Oracle release (the .tar.gz) could be installed
according to their instructions. Then, if the bug didn't exist (there
was a plugin available to Firefox, etc.) then this would appear to be a
bug in make-jpkg.

Otherwise, this could be straightened out quite quickly by having the
developer of make-jpkg look at this issue.

I think that you're probably wrong referring to "their (Oracle's)
installation routine" because make-jpkg probably replaces their
installation routine with Debian packaging. Hence the bug would be in
make-jpkg.

Thanks,
Shahar

[Bug 776499] Re: gvim gets no global menu, timeout warning on the console

2012-07-29 Thread Eduard Hasenleithner
Some further internal notes:
1) The "fix" mentioned in Comment #17 is already included with Precise
2) gtk_init_check() is called before (!) the fork by gui_mch_init_check() in
gui_gtk_x11.c. My guess is that gtk_init_check() has to be called after the
fork (i.e. in the child process) in order for the dbusmenu to succeed.

[Bug 1026426] Re: LibreOffice Calc and Draw launcher integration broken

2012-07-29 Thread TheGhost
I also have this issue everytime using writer. Either the white lo icon
appears and I have problems to refocus lo when I open another
applications on the same workspace or the Writer icon appears (+ an
empty launcher entry with no icon) where I can select Writer when other
applications are running.

All in all I have to say LibreOffice integration in Unity is really
really broken. I cannot understand why this bug is still there, because
LibreOffice is one of Ubuntu's main applications and no one recognized
this issues. It's easily reproducable, see bug opener or just open a
saved *.odt file for example, use some other applications (normal
workflow).
